The next morning William had hoped everything had been one really bad dream but sadly it was a reality he wished wasn't real. At the moment he was sitting in his hospital bed bored out of his mind. He was still confused about his situation, depressed about his father's sudden passing, stressed out over about his situation in general besides confused as hell and the more he tried to figure this mess out, the more frustrated he became about his entire situation.

However among this chaos brewing up inside him a mixture of excitement, fear, guilt and a over whelming sadness were also weighing heavy on him. He sighed as he looked at his bandaged up hand. Is it wrong of me to be looking forward to this new life and yet be feeling guilty about it at the same time? Gods...i am so confused. Am I dead? Dreaming? Or trapped in some alternate dimension or something? I know i should be more worried about going back to my old life, where my grandmother and friends are...and yet...is it wrong of me to wish to forget that life and just start a new one here? William wondered sadly.

The white bandages were turning pink in some spots due to how bad the burns were, but according to the Dr. Wakasa the burns were healing faster than they should have been. He flexed his bandaged up hand slightly and sighed.

He turned his head to left and nearly fell off the bed when he suddenly saw himself sitting in a chair. Suddenly his look a like revealed solid black eyes with glowing inhuman white pupils that were no way human. Slowly turned his head to look at him as he revealed a terrifying wide demonic cheshire cat like grin, that revealed long razor sharp nightmarish fangs in his mouth. His demonic look a like than suddenly moved at a in human speed as he reached out grabbing William tightly by the throat as his look a like than slammed him downwards onto the hospital bed as he began choking him.

William trashed around trying to free himself but his look a like was way stronger than he looked. "Don't ever forget you sold your very soul to me, when you lost everything two years ago...in time you will become me, boy! There is no light inside you anymore...so stop trying to suppress me!!! I am what you truly are and were meant to be!!! Cruel and cold!!!" His look a like snarled loudly as he tightened his grip causing William to struggle to breathe as he tried fighting off his demonic look a like. In the far back of William's mind he knew only to well that this being strangling him was none other than the monster within his very soul that was born from his anger, sadness and the need for revenge. A revenge that he still wanted to carry out but was denied of.

The bracelet glowed brightly causing the monster within his soul to glare at him darkly before it vanished allowing William to gasp for air as he coughed violently trying to get more air into his burning lungs. He laid there breathing harshly for a moment or two before his breathing slowly went back to normal. He sat up slowly rubbing his throat to ease the pain. Angry red hand marks could be seen on his throat.

"I would be a bit more careful if I was you, Egyptian puppy. That was a it too close for comfort and we can't afford you dying on us yet." A voice said making William's head snap upwards to see a tall man in his twenties with very long grey color hair and soul piercing electric green eyes standing there. He was wearing a black trench coat looking jacket over a grey turtle neck shirt, black jeans and black heeled boots. A silver chain holding a two headed snake circling a silver skull with a gold eye of Horus on it could be seen hanging around his neck.

"Who are you?" William asked him suspiciously as he felt rather uneasy with this person who slowly approached him. The lights in the room flickered unnaturally as all sound seemed to have suddenly vanished around them. Making the room very unsettling.

Shit did this guy send us to the shadow realm or something? No...this aura is far different...I know this unearthly aura. William thought to himself frantically.

"You will learn in time...but it's rather strange...in my long line of work, I have never seen anyone with only pure darkness within their very soul. Trust me kid, I deal and even dealt with the worst of the worse people ever imaginable. Now let me get a good look at you, kid." He said as he suddenly grabbed William's face just to tilt his head slightly upwards so he could look more into his eyes. "Such pretty eyes...they look like pools of liquid gold, and yet they hold a fierce fire in them and yet they are also clouded by pure darkness."

"Hey get your hands off me, creep!" William yelled as he yanked away from the man who smirked at him coldly. William was snarling like a angry wolf under his breath.

"You poor Egyptian puppy, you gave away your very soul to embrace the true darkness of the Shadows. Whatever you have left of your lighter half or your light is dying painfully slow as it is slowly freezing to death until nothing is left of it. No wonder your darkness is so restless and wants out so badly." He said before he than sat down in a nearby chair. "Only way that could have happened is if you accepted a deal with a demon...or with death himself. Such a dangerous deal to make for one so young and inexperienced with dark forces one can not begin to understand. However it is none of my business or concern what you do with your own soul...that is your choice. In all seriousness kid...you really messed things up so many years ago, I would really hate to be in your shoes right now, kid."

"I'm sorry but what the fuck are you talking about, and why do you call me an Egyptian puppy?" William growled in irritation as he felt the back of his hair stand on end as the fight or flight senses kicked in.

"The answer is rather simple kid, you are the new Anubis, kid. However in your current state you aren't going to survive long against the other Millennium God item keepers or even against the imposter millennium items. I bet you have no idea what true horrors you got yourself involved in when you placed the Bracelet of Anubis on. You also have no idea how to use your item or even how to tap into your full powers. It's a shame that you have to locate those two books and their key just to fully unlock those powers and how to master them as time grows ever shorter." The guy said frowning as

William narrowed his eyes at him as grew more and more uneasy around him. "What are you planning and what does it have to do with me?" He asked with a glare.

"Me planning something? I wouldn't dream of it...after all we gods of the underworld have always looked out for one another, even if we have never seen eye to eye on how things are done. So I am here to give ya some friendly advice kid...never make a wager with a god or goddess unless you know for a fact you can win or out smart that being at their own game. Remember this kid, because it can be very useful in times of need or desperation. You can summon lost souls to gather information and they even be your eyes as well as your ears when you are not able to be there in person. Allow me to show you some things about us god item keepers, kid. For we are not like these pathetic mortals." He said as he stood up and moved back a bit just as his necklace glowed brightly. He twirled his hand in a certain way as a large staff of a two headed snake appeared.

Dark unearthly energy erupted as it spiraled around the stranger like an angry storm until his height changed to where his head nearly touched the high ceiling as he revealed long black robes and long black feathery wings. His appearance had changed dramatically as well until he looked a walking corpse. Human skulls with glowing green fire dancing from their eye sockets and from their mouths were hanging off the robes giving this being a more deadlier and a more terrifying appearance to him.

William recognised the being almost instantly from Alex's book on gods and goddesses of the world. "Xibalba." He said making the being smile rather cruely at him.

"See I am just like you, puppy. A keeper of one of the god items, to be exact I am the millennium god keeper of Xibalba's skull and I look after forgotten souls in the afterlife." He said leaning on his staff looking down at him. "Basically we aren't so different, you and me...after all we are both gods of the dead."

William looked at his bracelet that trembled against his skin as it seemed grow warmer against his skin. William than narrowed his eyes before he suddenly stood up from the bed. He growled in rage like an angry wolf as he made a fist as then swung outwards in hopes of punching him. However to his alarm he went right through the being as though he wasn't even there, the momentum of his punch of hitting thin air caused him to stagger as he tripped over his own feet causing him to hit the floor painfully.

"Oh right, I guess I should have warned you about that, you see kid, when we are in our immortal form...you mortals just pass right through us as though we're ghosts. Mortals can't harm us in this form only other gods, goddesses or monsters can. Look, I know all about Selena...and your past kid, I also know how pissed you are with the gods and goddesses who rule over the dead. However just so you know kid, not all the gods and goddesses are against ya. Many of us are here to help ya, master your powers." he said as he twirled his staff a bit before examining his long claw like fingers.

"And I should believe you?! A god of lost souls!? After many of you gods and goddesses ruined my life!? Also you never answered my question, what does any of this have to do with me?!" William almost shouted only to freak as his body suddenly floated up off the ground until he was face to face with the being that snarled at him. A very strong sickly smell of decay escaped Xibalba's mouth.

"Be careful how you speak to a immortal, kid...especially to that of a god of death. I can very easily end your sorry existence...with just a snap of my fingers. However the truth is we gods need you alive, and I understand your anger only to well. You have every right to be angry, just like us with what you did so long ago which fucked everything up. Just be careful who you try to pick a fight with in the future boy, because you can't afford to fuck this up again! When you were the Egyptain god Anubis. You allowed a mortal to steal the book of the dead and that of Amun Ra right under your very nose which caused the creation of the millennium items, which destroyed the balance of the universe! Causing us gods to create the millennium god items which we gods and goddesses sealed a very large portion of our very existence and power inside them in hopes of balancing the universe out because of your flea bitten mistake. For a time it worked...but by creating the god items we learned we doomed ourselves as the barrier that separates the living, the dead and shadows began to weaken...so we gods casted a ritual so that only those who possesses the blood of a god or goddess the item was named after or if the being held a portion of that beings very soul was able to wield the god item and only them alone. In exchange for our vast power and knowledge, they would willingly give up their mortal life to become that very god or goddess when the time came. 5000 years ago, your past mortal self choose to give up his life to save that of the Pharaoh's instead of accepting to become the new lord of the dead. Which messed everything up! When your past self died, the previous god of Anubis was forced to endure another life time of duty to guard and protect the barrier. However without that portion of power and his soul, he grows weaker as does the barrier causing us gods and goddesses having to feed the barrier our own powers to help the dying lord of the dead. His time is fading fast...and this time you must give up your mortal life to become him...there is no other choice because we can not keep the barrier from shattering completely, another Five thousand and something years." He said in anger before dropping William onto the floor without a care. William yelped as he hit the floor painfully.

William snarled deeply in a wolf like way as his item glowed brightly. "Go back to the land of the forgotten...and rot there for all eternity! My past life gave his life to save someone he obviously cared for! Something I highly doubt you immortals would ever understand and and if given the same fucken choice I would die again to protect those I care about." William snarled as he got to his feet. The being known as Xibalba only laughed at that.

"Oh please in your current state, I highly doubt you could even scare a pair of bunny slippers into hiding, let alone give me something or someone to really fear. You have no idea what dangers await you, boy. I almost feel sorry for you and what destiny has out for you. However the fact remains that you need to master your powers or else those powers will find a way out which could cause those around you to be hurt or worse lead them to their untimely end. You got just three years boy, to master your powers and fix the mess you caused. Sadly you have no choice in the matter, for you see on the year of the scorpion, when the final duel takes place between the pharaoh's spirit and his host, the door will not open, the host will be kidnapped just as the barrier will begin to give way...and if you do not reach the temple of Anubis before the sun reaches the top of it's ancient temple on the third day, the bracelet of Anubis will end your existence which will doom the entire world since we don't have another 5 thousand years or more years to wait for your reincarnation to be reborn to fix the barrier. Of course you than will than have to fight the scorpion, just to prove you are truly worthy of being the new Anubis without any powers, no duel monsters before the pharaoh's host is sacrificed to bring back someone back from the dead."

"What!?" William shouted in alarm as dread set in. The idea of Yugi being used as a human sacrifice just to revive the dead made his blood boil. To sacrifice the living just to bring back someone from the dead, has never ever ended well. At least according to all the horror movies, he has ever seen, read and watched over the years. William highly doubted that the Pharaoh, would take this news well, concerning what happened or will happen when Yugi loses his soul. Oh yeah that was going to be fun to go through, let alone a great conversation to have with everyone.

"Oh dear, i might have said far too much...oh well...you'll learn in time especially when your memories of your past lives begin to awaken. Just remember what I have told as well as shown you, kid and lastly stop pretending to be a weak mortal...because you are not one of them. Until we meet again, try to stay alive, puppy...Seeing how so many gods and goddesses would rather see you dead than keep ya alive. Also a war of gods is fast approaching...prepare yourself boy, you'll need all the help you can get in the final part of your destiny." He said before vanishing into a swirl of black smoke. William stood there snarling in rage as even more confusion swirled around him.

So many questions and mysteries were suddenly coming into light but with no solid answers. William took a few breaths in hopes of calming himself while his mind was reeling from all this. Nothing made any sense to him. Where is Ishizu or Shadi when I need them?! William wondered before looked sadly down at his bracelet. Dad, what the fuck did you get me involved with!? There is no denying that guy really was one of the gods of death or someone who is allowing themselves to be that god's host...I know that unearthly aura anywhere same aura I felt when I lost almost everyone I ever cared for. Things are going to get a lot more dangerous for Yugi and his friends...if I stay with them. Damn it, why me?! William thought before he than sat down on the bed with a grim expression on his face.

A warm weight than settled down onto his lap but he was so out of it that he failed to notice it or give it much attention. "Do not give up, yet. Besides how accurate are the episodes or the story you have seen? You being with them never happened in the show or in those books, The Millennium god items were never ever mentioned and yet you are all here now, master. You might have to allow things to take their course but fate never said you couldn't help them out in times of need. Yes...things will be much harder for the Pharaoh and his friends...but everything will turn out okay in the end. Believe it." A warm voice said making his head snap downwards to see the ghostly image of one of his duel monsters sitting on his lap looking up at him.

William blinked his eyes and rubbed them as the Duel monster still sat there watching him with a warm terrifying smile. "Kuribandit?" He asked looking at the demonic version of the kuriboh only with a yellow bandana on it's head, sharper teeth and an eye patch over it's left eye.

"Yes, master?" the duel spirit asked him with a wide toothy grin. It was at that moment William's mind decided to shut down. William's eyes quickly rolled up into his head as he fainted making his duel monster spirit's visible eye to widen in alarm and fright. "Master!?"

When William slowly regained consciousness he saw Yugi's grandpa, and a woman who was most likely Yugi's mom were speaking quietly with the doctor. Yugi was sitting in a chair building a tower of cards on a near by table.

"How is he?" Yugi's mother asked.

"In all honesty with how fast the boy is healing at, which is rather startling as well as a bit alarming...he is rather lucky to be even alive considering his injuries. His fast healing factor has stabilized him enough that he can be released as early as tomorrow into your care. His hand however will need to be cleaned and bandaged every day. I still want a professional burn specialist to look at his hand, besides a specialist who deals with amnesia cases. Other than that I believe he is okay, if not a bit depressed...judging by his personality which could be from his memory loss." Dr. Wakasa said as he adjusted his glasses.

"That's good to hear." Yugi's mom said softly. William than slowly sat up with a headache.

"Hey, your awake. How are you feeling?" Yugi asked him softly when he noticed William moving to sit upright.

"Like I been hit by freight train...my head is killing me, but I am okay." William said softly as he almost freaked as he noticed his kuribandit glaring up at Yugi's Dark magician. The two duel spirits looked ready to start screaming at one another. I think I have finally lost my mind, or been playing way too much duel monsters. Fuck my life. William thought almost hysterically.

"Are you sure your okay? You look ready to faint or something." Yugi asked him in concern. William swallowed thickly since he was anything but okay.

"Uh yeah...I'm okay...just a headache...I'm sure it will go away in time or I am going insane." William said nervously as he saw Yugi's dark magician turn to face them. He than slowly approach as he looked at William with a hard stare just as William felt cold sweat running down his face before the Dark Magician's purple eyes widen with recognition before giving William a warm friendly smile before vanishing into thin air while his duel spirit looked ready to start cursing up a storm in anger, before it floated over to his bag and flopped down onto it as he seemed to be pouting.

Yugi than reached into his pocket and handed something to William. "The chain broke when the paramedics were moving you. I kept it safe for you." Yugi said nervously as he handed William back his locket. William's expression soften as he looked down at his locket in his hand.

"Thank you...for keep this safe for me. It means a lot to me. I uh suppose introductions should be made, not sure if your grandpa told you but my full name is William Kiryu Dracon." William said as he rubbed the back of his head nervously.

"It's nice to meet you, I'm Yugi Muto." Yugi said softly. "Say do you like games?" Yugi asked him. William revealed a tiny smile.

"What type of game did you have in mind?" William asked making Yugi smile.

"How about a card game?" Yugi asked as he held up a normal set of playing cards.

"Sounds good. I'm up for anything but solitaire." William said as Yugi gave him a confused look. "I am the worse when it comes to that game." William said.

"You can't be that bad." Yugi said as he gathered up the cards and began setting up the game. William sighed as he gave in just to show Yugi just how bad he was at it. Yugi's eyes widen as his jaw dropped as William's head dropped in shame after a few minutes. His duel spirit had it's paws over his mouth as he looked ready to howl with laughter at his master's misfortune

Yugi's Dark magician however had reappeared to watch the game and looked just as surprised as Yugi. However when he noticed William's duel spirit about to start laughing at William's misfortune, the dark magician grew annoyed as he than slammed his fist down onto Kuribandit's head.

Never in Yugi's life had he ever seen anyone so bad at this game. It was a rather easy game to win at and yet William just proved to him you could loose horribly at it. "Told you I was bad at it...so could we play something else?" William asked him.

"I could teach you..." Yugi offered.

"I'll pass..." William said.

"No seriously I could tech you..." Yugi said.

"Fine.I" William grumbled only to prove he was still horrible at the game even with Yugi still teaching him. Yugi laughed nervously since he never seen someone so terrible at this game. They played multiple card games until visiting hours were over. William smiled as he looked forward in being released from the hospital.

The next day William was finally released from the hospital. He walked silently beside Yugi who was telling him all about his friend Tea and what their school was like. William silently took in all the information with a small smile.

Dad, I do not know what the future will bring me. If this really is my destiny or not. However I will continue forward down on this road, not of my choosing but perhaps on this road that I walk alone, maybe...just maybe it will finally help me let go of the past and one day be my old self. Also I will not allow Yugi to pay the ultimate price for something I did in a past life, same goes for the Pharaoh. I will let things take their place but I will be damned if I allow any god or goddess to target Yugi and his friends when I am their true target. William thought to himself never noticing his shadow took the form of Anubis as they were walking.

In a tree a large falcon sat there watching Yugi and William as they walked. What no one noticed that the falcon had a glowing eye of Horus on it's head was watching them before it flew away. Only to land on someone's out stretched hand as they stroked the feathers softly as a hooded figure looked down at William and at Yugi.

"And so it begins..." the figure said.
