Chapter 8

Unexpected Arrivals

Ruby and Tide had snuck into the mine without much issue, that was until they came to a path that was blocked off by wooden guardrails.

"This is where John said we'd find the treasure! Let's go!" Tide exclaimed happily.

Ruby felt the pit form in her stomach as she said, "are you sure we won't get in too much trouble."

Tide shook his head and replied, "the drilbur aren't even here today; we'll be fine."

Ruby nodded, and they went under the guardrails, soon arriving in a vast empty cavern with giant red stones everywhere.

"This is beautiful! Let's take one as a souvenir!" Tide exclaimed.

Just then, a pokemon burst out of the ground, one that, while not big on its own, towered over Ruby and Tide. It was a medium-sized, bipedal, dragon-like Pokémon that was primarily blue. Its underside was light blue, with red covering it from the middle of its abdomen to the bottoms of its jaw. The Gabite has two appendages that resembled cylinder tubes extending out the side of its skull. Each appendage had a blue stripe. It had four fins, one on each arm, one on its back, and another on its tail. The back fin has a notch on it, showing it was male, and it has spikes on its hind limbs and sharp claws on its feet. Its eyes have black sclera and gold-colored irises.

"Trespassers! You have come to steal my Jewels," the Gabite yelled, and he unleashed a dragon rage.

Both Ruby and Tide jumped to the side, dodging the blue plasma.

"Wait! This is a misunderstanding!" Ruby pleaded.

The Gabite paid them no heed and slashed at them with a dragon claw; both repeatedly dodged until Ruby finally got hit and was sent flying against a wall. As she landed, there was a red flash over her body that acted as an invisible shield.

Ruby disregarded the light and rushed forward, bursting into rose petals again and unleashing a volley of embers in the dragon type's face.

The fire did little more than agitate the dragon type, but as ruby burst into petals again, the Gabite slashed nothing but air and demanded, "who...WHAT are you!"

Just then, Tide shot a water gun, but the Gabite shrugged it off like nothing and knocked him back before slashing him with a dragon claw.

Tide cried in pain as the Gabite went for the kill; Ruby jumped in between the attack in Tide, causing the red flash to appear again before dissolving into particles around you.

"NOW, YOU WILL DIE!" The Gabite yelled.

Ruby's eyes began to glow, but no one, not even her, noticed it; before the killing blow landed, an icy beam of energy came out of nowhere and froze the Gabite solid, instantly lowering the temperature of the room.

Both Ruby and Tide looked back to the cavern entrance and saw a massive blue pokemon; this pokemon, despite his intimidating appearance, had a look of kind concern on his face. It was a bulky, bipedal, crocodilian Pokémon with blue scales. It had large, powerful jaws lined with several sharp fangs. Three teeth are visible with their jaws closed: two in its lower jaw and one in its upper. Its eyes had red with black markings around them and ridges above them, and its lower jaw being yellow. There were three red spines on its body, each with three points: one on top of its head, one between its shoulders, and one near the tip of its tail. There were also several groups of large, rectangular scales on its arms, knees, tail, and waist. Its back was slightly hunched with ridges behind the shoulders and hips. On its lower body was a yellow, V-shaped marking that extended up to its thighs; there was a thin line through the center of the marking, and its arms had five clawed fingers, and its feet had three clawed toes.

"You two kids ok?" the Feraligatr asked.

Ruby nodded but then saw Tide hurt with a large cut on his side.

Just then, the Feraligatr's partner came in, shouting, "would you slow down Wave, for all we know, those...oh my."

The pokemon instantly ran over to wave and coated herself in a green light before directing the energy onto him. She was a quadrupedal, pale-green Pokémon that resembled a sauropod dinosaur. She has a long neck; yellow eyes; a short, blunt snout; and two stamen-like antennae on top of its snout. Encircling the Meganium's neck were large, pink flower petals with a yellow central pattern and white edges. She had three claws on each foot and a stubby tail.

Soon enough, the light faded, and Tide came to; he looked at where his wound was and said, "Wow, thanks, I really…." the mudkip then noticed the badges pinned to the Feraligatr's brown scarf and Meganium's blue scarf respectfully.

"That's…..an exploration Team badge! You guys are an exploration team! I've never heard a badge with stars on the wings and that black and blue orb!" Tide went on and on, fanboying over the two.

The Feraligatr smiled and said, "that's because it's a Guildmaster ranked badge, the highest level available."

Tide's jaw dropped, while Ruby just stared in confusion.

The Meganium sighed at her partner's bravado and formally introduced herself with, "I'm Vine, and this is Wave, Team Go-Getters at your service."

Blake was sitting in silence next to Veil, waiting for Belle to serve dinner, when two Pokemon arrived in the mess hall, causing everyone to quiet down and look at them; one was a pink pokemon resembling the roof of the Wigglytuff guild while the other was a small bird pokemon with head feathers shaped like a music note.

"Welcome back Guildmaster, did Cleft not make the summit too boring?" Viel joked.

Guildmaster Wallace laughed and said, "despite his best efforts, no."

As the Chatot rolled his eyes, he raised his voice and said, "make room; we need two more places besides the guildmaster and I."

As everyone shuffled around to make four spots, Jewel asked, "who's joining us?"

Cleft didn't bother responding and sat next to Wallace as two more pokemon entered the room. One pokemon was a bipedal, primate-like Pokémon that was primarily reddish-brown with sections of white fur on its chest, head, and lower legs. Several gold markings adorned its body: swirled, circular ones on its knees and shoulders, flame-shaped ones on the back of its hands, and a stripe around its back that formed two swirls on its chest. On top of its head was a large flame. The Infernape had an orange, rounded muzzle, long, round ears with blue inside, and a red ridge over its eyes. The eyes themselves were blue with the yellow sclera, and there were are five blue digits on both its feet and hands, and it had a long tail. The Infernape also had a sword sheathed on its back, and a guildmaster ranked badge pinned to its yellow scarf.

The other pokemon caused Blake's eyes to bulge, not out of fear, but because Xavier's warning was ringing in her head "When Wallace, Cleft, and Team Outriders return in 2 weeks from the Exploration Society conference, they will very likely deduce the truth, no matter how careful you are…." It was a massive pokemon covered in gunmetal grey armored scales with a beefy tail, and two axe blades tipped in blue on its jaw.

Alex smiled and said, "it's good to be back; I'm starving…."

Author's note- What a chapter!

1. Previous character from Outriders have arrived; Paul, the leader of Team Go-Getters, is not gonna be present, just wanted to make sure no one gets too excited

2. the fight with Gabite went a little; differently; it's so stupid that non of the drilbur stopped the heroes in the game, so I fixed that Gabite seemed way stronger than two school kids should be able to handle.

3. Leave a review; I want to know what people think!

Next time- Blake tries to avoid interacting with Alex while Tide and Ruby join the class lessons on the exploration team federation!
