Chapter 12

Forced Talks

Blake was walking back from her lesson with Xavier when two pokemon jumped her. It was late at night, so no one was around. One was a massive purple pokemon resembling a scorpion, and the other was a massive serpentine pokemon.

"Hey, there, little lady?" The Drapion said with false kindness.

The arbok then chimed in with, "Our leader has ssssomething to ask of you!"

"What do you want?!" Blake demanded; she was scared but was doing her best not to show it.

Out of the shadows came a third pokemon; it was a bipedal, weasel-like Pokémon with a pale, gray body. It had a bright red crown and collar made of wide feathers, and a single, thinner feather on each Weavile has two tail feathers and three claws on each paw. There was a yellow, oval marking in the center of its forehead, and its eyes are red with three eyelashes and four fangs protruding from its upper jaw. Despite the massive size of her teammates, the weavile was only a foot taller than Blake.

"I'm Frost, the leader of Team AWD, and I was wondering if you'd like to join our Team," the Weavile explained.

Blake shook her head and said, "no, I'm good."

As she attempted to leave, the Arbok and Drapion block her off and corned her against the back of Xavier's store.

Frost smiled and said, "come on, we need a psychic type like you. Meowstics are known for their amazing ability to control Pokémon and their destructive power!"

"That's enough!" a voice shouted.

As Frost turned around, she said, "this isn't your busine…."

The Weavile's words died on her throat as she saw who spoke; it was Alex with a cold look in his eyes, the blades on his jaw gleaming in the moonlight.

"Cleft is missing a recent survey map; why don't you go help him look for it," Alex said in a harsh voice.

Both of her teammates froze in fear, but Frost shook her head and replied, "don't know what you're talking about, Alex!"

"Yes, you do, and you're going to go return it, or do I need to bring you in myself?" Alex threatened as his hands clenched.

Frost's eyes bulged as she answered, "no, no, that won't be necessary."

Team AWD ran off in a panic, leaving Blake alone with Alex. The Haxorus's gaze instantly softened as he asked, "you ok?"

Blake nodded and said, "yea, yea, I'm fine."

"I'm Alex; nice to meet you," the dragon type said as he held out his hand.

Blake gave a small smile and said, "I'm Blake," before shaking his hand with her paw.

Alex felt dizzy for a moment and staggered back as his pupils dilated; with a blue flash, he saw an overhead view of an endless black void. Words echoed around him, but something was blocking his vision.

"Why must you hurt me, Blake? a male voice said,

"I'm so sorry…I'm so sorry" Blake's voice said between tears.

Then, a scene of Blake talking to Xavier appeared below Alex as the Xatu said, "your secret being you are not originally a Pokémon, but rather a human."

With another blue flash, Alex's vision ended; from Blake's perspective, he had only spaced out for a split second.

"Something wrong?" Blake questioned.

Alex patted her on the shoulder and said, "you can drop the act; I know you're a former human, just like me."

Blake bowed her head as Alex smiled and said, "Hey, don't worry, I can understand your worries; I had trouble revealing the truth to anyone besides my partner; come on, let's talk somewhere privately."

The Haxorus motioned for her to follow; after a few minutes, he came to the cliff west of town and opened a trap door in the ground for Blake to enter.

Blaze was just now starting a campfire as he saw Blake; the infernape gave a smile and said, "Hey, how's it going."

The meowstic gave a shy look only for Blaze to say, "I kept Alex's secret so I can keep yours; you can choose when to reveal it to everyone or not"

Blake smiled back and noticed the sword on the Infernape's back.

"Like it?" Blaze questioned as he drew the blade and held it out to show.

Blake nodded and asked, "yea….I arrived here with this.."

Blaze noticed and said, "I could give ya some pointers," earning a smile from the psychic type.

Alex sat down across from Blake and gave his partner a motion to leave with his head.

The fire-type nodded and said, "no problem, while you two are talking, I'm gonna get some more firewood."

After he left, the two former humans stared at each other for a bit before Blake broke the silence with, "so you arrived in this world with no memories as well?"

"Yup, washed up on the same beach, in fact," Alex admitted.

"Did you ever get your memories back?" Blake questioned.

Alex shook his head and replied, "no, but I eventually learned where I came from and why I transformed."

"How?" Blake pressed

The Haxorus rubbed the back of his head and began with, "it's a long story…."

Ruby was walking through town to school when she saw Leaf talking to a smaller grass type.

"I'd stay away from nectar meadow Basil, the Combee and Bendrill will be very rowdy. They would attack you at the slightest provocation," Leaf wanted.

The youngster nodded but looked at the crossroad longingly.

Ruby disregarded it and headed to class.

She took her spot, and before Mr. Howard could arrive, another pokemon ran in, one that had never come to the school before.

It was a small, light green bipedal Pokémon. It had three thorns on top of its head, and it had black eyes with long eyelashes. Visible from the back was a small stretch of yellow coloration around its neck, much like a collar. Leaves were extending from its shoulders like epaulets. It had a leaf skirt with a yellow stripe running down the front. She was a rose in each of its hands, a red one in its right, and a blue one in its left.

"I'm Iris; my little brother was supposed to be getting something at the market; has anyone seen him? The Roselia questioned.

Ruby's silver eyes widened, and she ran out of class without a second of hesitation; Tide realized that Ruby must have known where Basil was and ran after her as fast as his legs could carry him...
