Chapter One

"Be careful, Midoriya. This Yama guy is notorious around this bot fighting area." A voice spoke, warning a green haired boy as he made his way towards a crowd, surrounding a small arena in a back alley of their home of Tokyo Japan.

"You worry too much, Kaminari. I got this in the bag, man!" Midoriya spoke, hanging up his phone and slipped his way through the crowd to spectate the current match happening with this "Yama'' person.

'I really hope Jirou's on standby, this guy seems cocky… It might get ugly.' The green haired boy thought as he watched the large man's bot begin to lose against his smaller female opponent. 'Though he definitely plays dirty…'

"What!?" The large man exclaimed as his robot was knocked to the ground with an audible metal clanging. His opponent smirked fiendishly, seemed the great Yama was all talk and no bite, or so she thought.

Suddenly, the large man's expression changed, and a confident smirk graced his lips as he fiddled with the controller in his hands. His robot brought itself back to its feet and swiftly deployed a small saw blade hidden in it's shield before cutting his opponent's robot into two separate pieces.

"Just kidding." He taunted, smiling with pride at yet another victory. An eyepatch wearing woman made her way over to the man, handing him his large sum of money at his victory and raising his arm into the arm.

"We have a winner! The great Yama strikes again!" She declared, watching as the large man rose to his feet. He was feeling a great sense of pride, and felt as if he could take on any challenger that dared to step up to him.

"Does anyone else dare to take me on!? I'm more than willing to crush anyone who wants to face the great YAMA!" Yama challenged, looking amongst the many fear-filled members of the crowd. His smile widened as some of the crowd even destroyed their own robots in order to avoid facing the man.

The lights of the back alley flickered as footsteps were heard stepping closer to the large tracksuit clad man, a gust of wind blowing past as the crowd split for one a rather nervous looking greenette to make his way through and hold up his wooden doll appearing robot.

"Th-Think I can give it a shot?" He questioned nervously, shaking his robot as it's head flopped to the side, making it appear as harmless as possible. "I-I have some cash to bet if it's required…"

Yama smirked as Midoriya pulled out a wad of crumpled up yen from his pocket. "Well then, what's your name, kid?"

"U-Uh, Izuku Midoriya." Izuku replied, handing his money over to the eyepatch wearing woman as she placed it in a tray. The greenette then made his way over to the small arena laid on the ground, placing his robot inside opposite to Yama's.

"Alright, Green. Prepare to be crushed." Yama stated, sitting down behind his robot as he picked up his controller, the eyepatch wearing referee placing an umbrella between the two robots.

'Yeah, okay, whatever fatso.' Izuku thought, rolling his eyes as he activated his robot with it's controller, peering past the umbrella to stare at his opponent. He's still acting cocky.

The woman raised the umbrella after a short countdown from three, and the two men activated their robots simultaneously, using their controllers to operate the robots to move forward to their respective opponents.

Yama chuckled as Izuku's smaller robot stumbled it's way over to "Little Yama", activating his buzz saw in order to frighten the greenette just a tad. Midoriya rolled his eyes and feigned fear with a nervous expression. He had to feed the man's ego in order to get more money out of him, a small price to pay for salvation.

Within seconds Izuku's bot was cut into pieces, and the winner would be declared to be Yama once more, the crowd erupting with praise and fear as the man reached to claim his money.

"Wait! C-Can I try again?" Izuku questioned in plea, making himself appear like a boy with too much pride to back down when he lost. Yama chuckled as the woman beside him scowled at the teen.

"Don't be such a sore loser, kid! Take your defeat with grace!" She scolded, only pausing as the boy pulled out an even fatter roll of yen and handed it to her.

"I have more money, j-just give me one more shot!" He pleaded, smirking as Yama placed more money into the tray in order to match him. His ego was going to be his downfall.

"How are you going to win with your little wooden toy all broken up like that?" The man questioned, preparing himself for another match as he picked his controller back up.

Izuku smirked, "Deku-bot, reassemble."

Suddenly at the greenette's command, the wooden doll began to repair itself, fixing the pieces of broken wood by deploying fast acting wood glue, and swiftly getting itself back into position, it's small golem-like shifting to one of a comic hero's face.

Everyone watched in confusion as the greenette's controller was extended as if it had some kind of ulterior function, and the greenette's nervous expression changed to one of unamusement as the woman signified the start of the match.

Izuku sent his bot forward, intimidating Yama enough to command his own robot to slam it's sawblade down, though Deku-bot swiftly dodge to the side before using it's piston powered arm to completely crush and dislodge the join of the robots saw blade, causing the arm to fall to the ground with a metal clunking sound.

The crowd watched in awe as the greenette's robot swiftly did the same to the other arm before in one swift motion Deku-bot punched Little Yama right in it's torso, caving it in and launching it straight into the arms of his hefty opponent. The crowd around the boy went wild.

"Wow, I can't believe I won. Must have been beginner's luck, am I right?" Izuku taunted, smirking at the larger man as he pocketed his tray of cash. "Wanna go again?"

Peering up from his winnings the greenette's confident face was met with the large man towering over him, his expression showing pure rage at his loss. Seemed he was the sore loser Izuku feared him to be. Izuku gulped in nervousness as he picked up his robot and watched as a few of Yama's men made their way over to help intimidate the boy.

"I don't suppose you'll let me go, will you?"

"Oof!" The greenette grunted, being slammed into a brick wall as Yama and his men cornered him. Izuku rubbed the back of his head as he held up a hand in an attempt to stop the approaching men, or at least get them to calm down. "W-Wait, guys, w-we can talk about this-"

"Shut it, Brat!" Yama exclaimed, slamming his fist right next to the greenette's face. Izuku gulped as his eyes stared at the man's large fist in fear. "I don't know how you did it, but you tricked me! No one, and I mean NO ONE tricks Yama!"

'Really? Referring to yourself in the third person?' Izuku thought as he held back a gag from the large man's rancid breath. He seriously needed a breath mint. 'And talk about unhygienic…'

"Cat got your tongue now?" Yama questioned, smirking as he gave a nod to his men to rough up the teen before them. "We'll teach you a thing or two about messing with Yama."

A sudden roaring of a motorcycle could be heard in the distance, halting the men about to assault Izuku as the headlight of said motorcycle grew brighter and brighter from a connected alleyway.

"What the hell..?" One of Yama's men questioned under his breath before the roaring black motorcycle made its appearance, the driver being all too familiar to their captive teen.

"Jirou!" Izuku exclaimed, watching as the female motorcyclist forced Yama's men to back off by nearly running them over. The girl removed her helmet, revealing her short black hair with violet highlights. "Oh, thank god you were actually on standby…"

"Yeah whatever, hop on, Midoriya!" She instructed, tossing her helmet to the greenette before he hopped onto her motorcycle, wrapping his arms around her waist for safety as she sped off, leaving Yama and his men to eat their dust. "I'm always having to save your butt, what were you thinking going after Yama!?"

"I know you're mad, but look!" Izuku exclaimed, pulling out his stacks of cash from his pockets as he smiled fiendishly. "It was a total score! Going after the big names is how we make the most, and it worked like a charm!"

"See you say that, but last time you did this we had to get Bakugou to fight them off!" She berated, shifting her focus between hitting the greenette and driving her motorcycle. "Seriously! Be careful you idiot!"

"But that's why you're here to save me." Midoriya defended, blocking the incoming attacks from the girl in front of him. "Thanks as always, Jirou, you're a lifesaver."

"Your thanks aren't good enough!" Jirou shouted, blushing before the sudden appearance of the police in front of the exit of the alleyway forced the girl to skid her bike to a halt. (Akira style). "Oh, for fucks sake!"

"What? What's the-" Izuku questioned, peering past the girl as he realized just who had cut off their "perfect getaway". "Oh. God damnit!"

"If we get out of this without major jail time, I'm going to kill you."

Izuku stood squished between the hefty Yama, and his angry men. Everyone present during the battle tonight had gotten locked up by the police, and now here Izuku Midoriya sat with the rest of the men present during the event.

'Great… I can smell the heaps of sweat and grime off of these guys.' Izuku thought, nonchalantly feeling the piercing glares from Yama and his men in the cramped jail cell. 'I hope Jirou's doing better than I am right now…'

Suddenly, a police officer sauntered in with a clipboard in hand, "Izuku Midoriya? You're free to go."

The greenette watched the officer open up the jail cell and gestured for the boy to follow him. Izuku stared at the man questioningly as he stepped out and followed after the man. 'Who could have paid my bail..? Oh god, I hope it wasn't mom...'

Entering the main hall of the police station the greenette was met with his purple haired friend standing in wait, and locking eyes with him. Relief washed over him as he jogged his way over to her, embracing the girl as a sigh made it's way past his lips.

"Oh thank god, I was worried something would've happened to you, Jirou!" He informed, ignoring the girl shaking in embarrassment at his sudden embrace.

"O-Oi! I'm fine, get your hands off me!" She demanded, blushing deeply as she jabbed the greenette right in his side, forcing him to release her and clutch his side. "And I should kill you! What were you thinking getting us into that mess!?"

A sudden clearing of his throat alerted the teens to the man who had paid their bail. Turning their heads to face them, it was revealed to be Izuku's father, Yagi Toshinori.

"A-Ah, h-hi dad… F-Fancy seeing you here, right?" Midoriya spoke in an awkward attempt to ease things over with him. Toshinori's scowl deepened as he struck Midoriya right over the back of his head.

"Car. Now." He demanded, pointing to the door of the police station as he planned to finish up his paperwork before taking them home. "Seriously, those kids…"

"Oww…" The greenette groaned as he sat on the curb, rubbing his head as Jirou sat beside him. His father's familiar black car parked beside them. "Geez, does everyone have to hit me today?"

"After what you pulled? Yes. Matter of fact I should hit you again, you got my bike impounded and I'm gonna have to use my cut from tonight to pay for it!" She berated in response, raising her fist threateningly to make the greenette flinch. Watching his face turn to one of deep thought, however, she dropped her fist and sighed. "Maybe your mom's right. Maybe we should think about colle-"

"I'll use my cut to pay for your bike." Izuku cut her off, not wanting to even think of the stress that came along with applying and enlisting into university. "You… You won't have to worry about it. Use your money for what you want."

Jirou stared at the boy as a silence washed over them. He still didn't want his life of fun to be over, but she couldn't blame him. She didn't want things to end either, she wanted to stay by his side and continue to have fun with him and their friends. Perhaps more selfishly she wanted to be with him through thick and thin, just like he had been for her.

"I want you to know that punch was from your mother. She's not pleased." Izuku's father spoke, stepping out of the police station with a rather annoyed huff. Both teens jumped in surprise at the appearance of Izuku's father, though for different reasons. "I can't believe it, this is the second time this week…"

"Wait, second? Midoriya-" Jirou questioned, only being silenced as the wad of cash that Izuku had won tonight was shoved in front of her.

"Take my cut and distribute the rest evenly amongst you and the others." He instructed, sighing before turning to her with a small smile on his face. An attempt at an apology. "Do you want to spend the night tonight? Get away from your parents?"

"...No, I think I'll be fine tonight." She replied, bringing herself to her feet as she gave All Might an apologetic bow before heading off to go pay off her bike. "Text me later, okay? Just… Let me know when you get home safe, alright?"

The greenette nodded, standing as the two exchanged a quick hug before she walked off, waving to the two men. Jirou knew that the boy was going to be in for an earful, but she was worried about him. They needed to think about their futures, and Izuku was honestly the one to hold them back from their ambitions. They didn't need to waste their potential on silly botfights, but she couldn't tell him that to his face.

"Why are you doing this, Izuku?" Toshinori questioned, placing a hand to his son's shoulder, feeling the boy tense in discomfort. "You can do so much better. You have the mind of a genius, why can't you use it and get into university?"

"I don't need to go to some dumb nerd school, Dad. It's not like I could get in anyways..." Izuku replied, shrugging his father's hand off his shoulder as he made his way over to the passenger side of his dad's car and hopped in.

Toshinori pinched the bridge of his nose in annoyance before an idea passed through his mind. It was a bit of a stretch, but perhaps he could provide the boy with some inspiration to pursue further education for himself.

Hopping in on the driver side of the car and strapping in, Toshinori turned to his son with a smile. "Izuku, why don't we take a small detour before getting home?"

Izuku quirked a brow in suspicion, "...What kind of detour?"

Toshinori smirked, "One that I think you'll enjoy."

"Why are we in front of the nerd school you teach at?" Izuku questioned, glaring at his father who simply responded with an innocent smile.

"No reason in particular, just forgot something here. Why don't you come with me to grab it real quick before we head home?" The man questioned in response. He made it seem as though Izuku had the choice, but he knew his father was going to force him to come either way, so he might as well.

Rolling his eyes he exited the car with a sigh, "Fine, yeah. Whatever you're trying to show me isn't going to convince me, though."

"So you say, my boy. So you say…" Toshinori replied, shaking his head with a smile as he followed the boy into the university before them. Yuuei University of Science and Technology, a university specializing in the advancement of technology and science with the goal of bettering society and human life.

The two men walked the halls of the university, with the blond haired man beside Izuku waving to students and his fellow coworkers casually. The greenette watched in amazement at the many different inventions and interesting looking people that they came across, hell one of the staff of the university looked as if he were homeless!

"What is going on here..?" Izuku mumbled, looking around at the halls as Izuku and his father made their way into his father's personal office/laboratory. "Woah!"

Izuku's eyes widened in awe as he entered his father's office. Memorabilia of his younger years as an actor and comic book enthusiast littered the walls of his office, spare parts and different inventions laid in cases and on stands just so that the man could look at his many achievements.

"Seems I've got your attention now?" Toshinori teased, laughing as his son attempted to sputter out some kind of excuse in embarrassment. "Relax, I'm just teasing!"

"Geez… Why did you bring me here anyways?" The greenette questioned, plopping himself in his father's desk chair as his dad stared at his old costume from when he was still an actor.

"To show you the wonders of education. To give you some kind of idea of just what you'd be getting into." He started, walking over to his son before placing a comforting hand to his shoulder. "You have the ability to make amazing things! You have the brains to do whatever you want, and I want you to look around at the many things you too could create in order to create a name for yourself in this world. I want you to do something great with your life, something even greater than anything I could have accomplished." He continued, giving his son's shoulder a small squeeze. "I want the world for you, son."

Izuku froze, "Do you really mean that..?" He questioned, looking down at his hands as he played with his hands nervously. "...You really think I can do it?"

Toshinori smiled warmly, "Of course, my boy. I think the world of you, and I know you can live up to my expectations. The only person stopping you from doing it is yourself. Reach for your dreams, my boy."

Izuku smiled. After all this time, that's all he needed to hear in order to make the decision. The greenette had struggled trying to figure out if he had what it took to pursue a further education, he struggled with his own issues of self doubt, but hearing from his father that he had what it took to get into the university… It set him straight.

He was holding himself back. He had held all of his friends back… It was now time for him to finally make the decision that would set his future straight. It was his only chance to do something great, and he had to prove that he could not only to himself, but to his friends and family.

"Thanks, dad… I guess I only have one question left." Izuku stated, turning to look at his father as the two men shared a look of determination and pride.

"And what would that be?" Toshinori questioned, a sneaking suspicion that he already knew the answer rising within him.

Izuku took a deep breath, "Where do I sign up?"
