Summary: From fighting demons 500 years in the past, to moving all the way across the world with a certain demon lord acting as her father- and doing a terrifyingly bang-up job at it, Kagome's life is anything but boring. Her hope for peace and quiet is shattered when she meets Peter Parker. Oh well, she can't be mad. She's used to it- though she's not particularly fond of web swinging...
Pairing: Peter Parker x Kagome Higurashi
Disclaimer: I do not own either series. Each belongs to their rightful owners.
Prologue
Disbelief practically seeped from every inch of her body as she stared- wide-eyed- at the silver-haired demon seated across from her. Surprisingly enough, her mother didn't seem even half as shocked as she was! In fact, the middle-aged woman was all smiles at this idea alone.
"Oh, Kagome, weren't you just saying this morning how you wanted to get away from the well for a while?" she asked her silent teenager, clasping her hands together. "Oh, what a perfect coincidence!"
"M-Mama!" Kagome exclaimed, dazzlingly blue eyes widening as she heard her mother's whole-hearted agreement already. Her mother looked at her in response, tilting her head to the side with a small sigh.
"Really, dear," she said. "I think it'll be a wonderful chance for you! You can get away from the well like you've been wanting to since it sealed up, and you can take time to enjoy a new environment while you're at it," she said, her tone never straying from her natural supportive tone. "I think it'll be good for you."
"Y-Yeah but…-!"
This was Sesshoumaru they were talking about! How in the hell was she supposed to survive living with him?! She glanced at him from the corner of her eye, unintentionally stiffening up when she caught those molten eyes glowering silently at her.
"We've solved all prior differences that existed between us, have we not?" he spoke this time, his smooth monotone drawl causing chills to prick at her skin. She nodded slowly, tightening her hands in the material of her skirt as she downcast her gaze.
"I- well, yeah, but…" How did she put this in a way that wasn't offensive? She furrowed her brows as she thought it over, plucking and choosing her words oh-so carefully. Eventually she hung head and sighed. No words, no matter how hard she thought it over, seemed to suffice, so she settled for blunt honesty. "You're terrifying," she deadpanned. Had she been looking at him, she would've seen the way his perfect brows shot up into his bangs, a momentary look of surprise appearing on his face.
A second later it twisted into a proud smile.
"If that was meant to be insulting, I can't find any reason to be offended," he commented. Kagome sighed.
Of course, he'd find pride in it. Stupid, weird demons.
The idea of living with him was downright unnerving for her. She'd seen him in the past, she knew what he was capable of. Sure, what he said was true. Any and all differences had been settled long before she came home for good, allowing them to be allies during the final fight against Naraku, but still.
However… the offer extended to her was tempting and calling to her oh-so sweetly. The promise of escaping the overbearing aura the well still seemed to possess sounded so sweet. She didn't harbor any negative feelings about the way her time travelling escapes came to their end, but… the well was definitely making it hard to move on like she desired. Despite being sealed up, it still carried that heavy aura it had while it was still open. On days she missed her friends so badly it felt the absolute worst because she knew she couldn't go back through.
It's been five-hundred years, too, so she felt even more silly being so unnerved by a seemingly kind offer from the ancient figure seated across from her. He'd gone through those five-hundred years, and seemed to live among humans at least semi-peacefully.
"Kagome," her mother's voice reached her ears as she gently rested a hand on her shoulder. "Sometimes to put the past away, you have to quite literally move forward," she said. "I just got you back, and I don't want you to go, but I know, deep down, that this will be wonderful for you. You're not able to move forward if you're letting yourself wallow in past memories, you know."
Kagome sighed and nodded. Her mother was right. She knew that better than anyone. She also knew that if she rejected his request, then she'd most likely regret it soon after. Whether it be a day, a week, a month… she'd eventually regret her stubbornness. "I know…" she said softly.
"So?" Sesshoumaru hummed, intrigue flashing though his normally cold eyes. "Do I have your compliance?"
She picked her head up and glanced at him, expressive blue clashing against stoic gold, and she nodded slowly. "Yeah," she said. A small smile lifted her lips. "Looks like you've got a travel companion!"
000
She was more than just a little bit perplexed and amazed when Sesshoumaru seamlessly handled everything they'd need for travel. It'd only taken him a day or two to get all the needed papers and things in order, and she didn't know if she wanted to know how he'd gotten it all arranged.
"Hmm… I guess that's typical Sesshoumaru for you, though," she commented out loud to herself as she walked behind him at the airport. They'd just gotten off their flight.
He heard her comment, glancing over his shoulder to spare her a quick glimpse.
"I still can't believe you chose to claim me as your daughter on all of this stuff," she added on a second later, lifting her gaze to look at him. "Seems like a little much, doesn't it?"
"Do you plan to ask so many questions?" he countered, much to her chagrin. She pouted, a mild glare appearing on her face as a splash of red peppered her cheeks.
"... I dunno. You plan on answering any of them?" she challenged, her pout leaking into her voice as she spoke. He arched a brow at her frustrated tone and looked away.
"I considered it, but it might be more fun not to, after all," he commented, and she groaned.
"This is misery," she grumbled under her voice. "I swear, you give me even one dad joke and I'm purifying you."
He chuckled, the sound so strange and foreign to her ears when it came from him. She glared at his back as they kept walking through the busy airport.
All else aside, it was nice.
"So, you said the others should come visit pretty soon?" she asked, closing the distance between them as she glanced up at him curiously. The others in question being her demon companions from her past adventures. He nodded and a warm smile appeared on her face. "Great!" She wasn't able to contain her excitement at the news. It hadn't been long, but she still really missed them.
"In the meantime, be sure to keep up your education while we're here," he said, and she tilted her head to the side.
"Oh, right, Mama made you give her your word about me going to school even out here," she said, remembering her mother's request once she'd agreed to go. He complied, even choosing the school she'd be going to based on many factors, she was sure. "Which one did you choose, anyway?"
He removed a brochure from the inner pocket on his suit jacket, handing it off to her so she could observe it. An intrigued light flashed through her eyes as she scanned it, not really reading too much into the details printed within it.
"Midtown School of Science and Technology?" She read the name that was printed clearly across the top of the brochure.
"Yes," came his response. "You'll start in a week."
She nodded, a bit grateful to have a little bit of time before she was made to join the school's population. At least she was fluent in English, so she didn't have to worry about a language barrier.
Auroua-chan: I've been working on this for a while. So happy to be able to finally post it! I've wanted to do a Peter Parker/Kagome fic for a while. He's just such a good match with her.
Kagome's demon companions will show in the upcoming chapters. Them, along with Kagome and Sesshoumaru will make for one chaotic family, being honest. Sesshoumaru will still be Sesshoumaru, but just a little bit softer. Others still really don't wanna get on his bad side, and it won't take much to achieve that either.
Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you all for reading, and I hope you enjoyed! Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.
Please remember to Review&Favorite&Follow, thank you!
Bye for now~
