Epilogue: Spirit World Vacation

Korra and Taizun now stood in front of the new Spirit Portal, carrying backpacks with camping and travel supplies.

"Are you ready to go?" asked Korra.

"...I'll go with you anywhere, Korra," Taizun replied as he held her hand...then they both kissed each other lovingly before they turned and walked into the portal, together.

They came through portal, now in the field of purple flowers.

"...Wow...!" Taizun whispered in awe. "This is beautiful!"

"Yeah, the Spirit World is very beautiful," Korra agreed. "But it can be very unpredictable."

"I don't see what's unpredictable about this place," said Taizun as a little glowing beetle came flying up and landed on his nose. "Aww, look at this little guy!" He took the beetle off his nose and gently held it in his hands, then it opened up its wings, revealing its glowing abdomen. "Ha! Look at its glowing butt!"

"Uh...Taizun?" Korra asked, nervously. "I wouldn't do that!"

"Why?" Taizun asked, only for the beetle to make a flatulent noise as sparkling glitter shot up from its abdomen, causing Korra to gasp as she grabbed Taizun before the glitter exploded!

"...Oh...that's why," said Taizun.

"I told you this place was unpredictable," Korra said.

"Yeah," he sighed in relief. "So, where's Iroh's teashop?"

"It's this way," Korra replied as she helped him up. "Follow me, I'll lead you."

Suddenly, the glowing Dragon Bird spirit that she'd helped while searching for Jinora appeared.

"Well, at least we don't have to walk," Taizun stated. The couple got on the spirit's back, and it took off.

The spirit eventually arrived at Iroh's teashop, and sure enough, the man was serving tea to some spirits.

"Iroh~!"

Iroh grinned as he saw Korra and Taizun approach.

"Korra! And you must be Taizun!" The old man greeted them. "Glad to see you both made it!"

"It's an honor to meet you," Taizun bowed. "Zuko speaks so highly of you, not just your wisdom, but your incredible tea."

"It's nice to know that my nephew still talks about me," said Iroh as he poured them cups of tea.

Taizun took a sip, then his eyes widened, "Oh wow! Delicious~!"

"I know, right?!" Korra agreed, sipping her tea as well.

Iroh smiled at the compliment, "So, is there really a new Spirit Portal?"

"Yeah, thanks to yours truly," Korra replied. "Uhh...that's okay, isn't it? There can be three, right?"

"That depends," Iroh stated. "Where is the new portal in the physical world?"

"In Republic City," Taizun responded.

"Then I suggest you deal with this very carefully," Iroh told them. "The north and south portal are in relative safety, since they are located at the North and South Poles, so they are well protected."

"But since the new portal is in Republic City, where more people are; anyone could enter..." Korra realized the potential danger.

"The Spirit World is not for everyone," Iroh stated. "Human capacity for greed is what leads to most conflicts."

"We'll be very careful, Iroh," replied Taizun. "Promise."

"Very good," Iroh nodded. "But enough of that. You two are on vacation! Enjoy yourselves!"

After trekking for a while, the couple found something unexpected; a hot spring.

"Oh, wow!" Korra exclaimed.

It was in a forested area with a small waterfall. The spring was heated by some kind of spiritual underground magma.

Taizun checked the water, "It's just right! There must be some hot rocks in whatever kind of underground the Spirit World has."

"You read my mind!" He agreed as he took off his shirt. As she turned her back to him, he noticed the tattoo on her back. "Hey, you got some ink?"

"Huh?" Korra muttered before she realized he was talking about her tattoo. "Oh, this? Yeah, I got it a while back, during the whole...crisis thing." She then chuckled sheepishly. "Do...do you like it?"

The tat was a pair of eagle wings, in folded position. It nearly covered her whole back. He went over and traced his fingers on the skin of her back where the ink was,
"I love it. What does it mean?"

"I wanted to...to be free of the pain I was in..." she answered, solemnly. "Birds always look so free when they fly..."

"...Oh..." Taizun muttered, realizing what she meant.

"...I'm sorry," Korra said. "I didn't mean to sound like a downer or anything."

He kissed her shoulder and hugged her from behind,
"It's okay."

Korra tensed a bit before she smiled and her body went lax.

They took off the rest of their clothes, then got in the water.

Both of them sighed in relief from the relaxing heat.

"Man, this feels good," Taizun whispered.

"That I am," Aang said before he bowed his head in greeting.

Taizun bowed as well, "It's truly an honor. Katara, Zuko and Toph spoke highly of you."

Aang smiled in response.

"Hey, since we're not pressed for time or anything, could you tell us some stories?" Korra asked. "Katara and Zuko have told us several about your adventures, but I'd like to hear it from you."

"Let me guess; Toph wasn't a good storyteller?" Aang quipped.

"Well...not really, no," Korra replied.

"Well, the one good story she told was how she learned Earthbending from Badger-Moles," Aang chuckled.

"She didn't tell me that one," said Korra.

"Since they were blind like her, they understood each other," he smiled. "They taught her that Earthbending wasn't just a martial art, but an extension of her senses. It was their way of interacting with the world, not just for fighting."

"Wow...!" Korra whispered in awe. "That is SO cool!"

"We gotta tell this to Bolin when we get back," agreed Taizun.

Aang continued with a few more stories; when he, Katara and Sokka met Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors, when Zuko saved him disguised as the Blue Spirit, and even how he felt when he first laid eyes on Katara after being frozen for a hundred years.

"You know about love at first sight," Taizun stated, holding Korra's hand.

She smiled at him, then turned back to Aang, "Katara told me about how you guys defended the Northern Water Tribe from the Fire Nation, but what happened when you were in the Spirit World?"

"A little after I got there, Roku told me how the Ocean and Moon spirits crossed over to the mortal world thousands of years ago," Aang explained. "Only one spirit was old enough to remember where they ended up, Koh."

"So that's how you found Tui and La!" Korra exclaimed.

"Who is Koh?" Taizun asked.

"A very dangerous spirit many call "The Face Stealer"," Aang responded, earning the same reaction from the couple that he had when Roku first told him. "It was important to speak with him, but I could tell it was a game to him. He was waiting, just trying to make me react or scare me in some way..."

"Well, it clearly didn't work," said Taizun. "Thank the spirits."

"You two better be careful, as well," replied Aang.

"Why?" Korra asked.

"The Spirit World, while beautiful, also hides its dangers," said Aang. "Tread carefully, wherever you go."

The couple nodded, then Aang vanished.

"So what now?" asked Taizun.

"This," she kissed him passionately, and they made love again.

They both laughed happily before kissing each other again.

"Glad you're not one of those girls that complains about her hair getting wet," he murmured against her lips.

"True," Taizun grinned before he kissed her again.

The four of them headed to the palace, meeting up with Tonraq and Senna, and announced Korra and Taizun's engagement.

Needless to say, everyone was thrilled by the news.

Senna hugged her daughter, "Congratulations sweetheart!"

"Thanks, Mom!" said Korra. "I'm so happy, right now!"

"It took three years, but you finally asked her," Tonraq shook Taizun's hand.

"Well, she needed time to recover," he said.

"And I'm proud of you for helping her when she needed it most," said Tonraq. "Thank you, Taizun."

"Anytime sir," he smiled.

~~~~~~~~~~~~A few days later~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Korra, Taizun, Ayako and Rokum would be heading back to Republic City the next day, so they were spending all the time they could with Tonraq and Senna.

Currently, everyone was eating breakfast.

"Mmm...good food, Ms. Senna!" said Taizun.

"Thank you, and I told you to drop the "Ms."," she replied.

"Sorry, old habits."

"I do love Water Tribe food, except for the prunes," Ayako commented. "No offence."

"None taken," Tonraq assured her. "Those should be considered an acquired taste."

"So, where are you guys planning on holding the wedding?" asked Rokum.

"And when is it?" asked Senna.

"Well, I need to bring in Asami and all the women in Tai's family to join us in talking about the dresses," Korra mentioned.

"And we still need to plan things out, but we agreed we don't want anything too fancy," Taizun replied.

"We understand," Tonraq replied. "The South has always been less conservative than the North."

"Not even our wedding was that fancy," Senna added.

"Yeah, I remember you told me-" Korra started, but then she suddenly felt sick. She bolted from her seat to the restroom.

"Korra?!" Senna asked as she ran after her.

She then heard the sound of her daughter throwing up, then went in to check on her.

Senna rubbed Korra's back once she was finished puking.

"Ugh...thanks, Mom," Korra said, weakly.

"Are you all right, honey?" Senna asked.

"Yeah, I don't know what happened," Korra got up, washed her face and drank some water.

Taizun appeared at the doorway, "Korra, are you okay?"

"I'm fine," she told him.

"Are you sure? You just puked out of nowhere..."

"I SAID I'M FINE!"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Taizun cried while Korra gasped.

"I-I am SO sorry!" she said. "I don't know where that came from!"

"It's okay," Taizun took her in his arms, and she cried a bit.

"Honey, I think you should see Katara and make sure it's nothing serious," Senna suggested.

"Uh...y-yeah, maybe you're right, Mom," Korra replied. "Let's go, now, in fact!"

Korra once again found herself sitting in Katara's healing pool. On the up-side, she wasn't there to recover from the poison.

"It only happened for a few seconds?" Katara asked.

"Yeah, it was so weird," Korra responded. "But then when Tai asked if I was okay, I snapped at him, for no reason at all."

"I see," said Katara. "Korra...has this happened recently?"

"Only...one other time," she said. "I thought I ate something bad. Am I sick?"

Katara did some hand motions, making the water glow, then she smiled,
"Not in the usual sense. You just had a bit of morning sickness."

"Morning sickness, but that would..." Korra's eyes widened. "Are you saying...?!"

Katara only gave her a knowing smile.

"...Oh...holy...spirits...!" Korra whispered.

Happy tears started spilling from her eyes.

"Congratulations, Korra," said Katara. "You're with child."

"Tai!" Korra called to the other room, and said Firebender came in.

He immediately went over to her, "You okay?"

"More than okay; I'm pregnant."

Taizun's eyes lit up and he held her cheek, "Are you kidding me?"

Korra shook her head, smiling, "No..."

They kissed each other lovingly and hugged.

"We're gonna be parents...!" Korra whispered.

"This is happy news, but it also presents some trouble," Katara mentioned. "Because we don't know if the world will allow you two enough time to have the baby before there's another threat."

Both Korra and Taizun both looked at each other, their eyes wide in realization.

"Well...we'll see what happens," he stated.

"I already knew the risks of getting pregnant," Korra added. "If the world knew, I might become a target, since I'd be more vulnerable."

"And there's no way we can keep it a secret," said Taizun.

"Not from our friends and family, anyway," she countered.

"True."

Korra, Taizun and Katara went to the waiting area, where Tonraq, Senna, Rokum and Ayako were.

"Are you okay, sweetheart?" Tonraq asked.

"I'm fine, just pregnant," Korra answered, smiling and placing a hand on her still flat stomach.

"Oh, pregnant," said Tonraq.

"Makes sense," Senna agreed.

"Of course," Rokum added...but then the actual words set in.

"YOU'RE PREGNANT?!" they all questioned.

"That's what she said!" Taizun replied.

Ayako squealed and embraced the Avatar and her brother tightly!

"I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!" she shouted. "I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS! I'M GONNA BE AN AUNTIE!"

Senna went next, holding her daughter as close as she could,
"My baby is having a baby..."

"I know, I'm so happy," Korra cried.

"I'm gonna be a Grandpa!" Tonraq exclaimed in disbelief.

"And I'm gonna be an uncle!" added Rokum. "This is AWESOME!"

"We'll need to keep this top secret, at least until she gives birth," Katara mentioned.

That's when Taizun gave Korra a hug.

"I promise, I'll protect you both," he whispered in her ear.

"Thank you," she whispered back.

Everyone returned to Republic City a couple days later, and all the others were waiting on Air Temple Island.

Before the gender groups separated to discuss wedding plans, Korra announced that she was expecting.

"EEEEEEEEEE~!" Ikki squealed as she hopped up and down. "OH MY GOSH, OH MY GOSH, OH MY GOSH, YAY!"

Asami hugged Korra tightly, "You two worked fast."

Korra chuckled, blushing a bit.

"Congratulations man," Mako clasped hands with Taizun.

"Such a glorious occasion!" Tenzin declared.

"Yeah, but I don't want the public to know, so I don't become a target," Korra stated.

"Good idea," Tenzin agreed. "It's nice to see that you're actually thinking these things through, Korra."

Amai gently took Korra's hand, "Well, we'll leave worrying about that matter to you boys. We ladies need to discuss wedding things."

She and Pema led Korra away, followed by all the other females, except Lin.

"So, Korra," said Pema. "What's your ideal wedding?"

"Well, Tai and I both agreed we didn't want anything too fancy," said Korra.

"So, traditional with modern style?" Asami asked.

"Something like that, yeah," replied Korra.

"Dresses?" Ayako asked.

"Well...I kinda had an idea," said Korra. "I actually sketched it!"

She pulled out a piece of paper from her pocket and handed it to Asami.

She unfolded it, and gasped a bit at the sketch.

It looked beautiful! It wasn't anything too fancy, but it was completely white with some frilly sleeves and even a flowing hem, a bit like Yue's robe as the Moon Spirit.

"Wow," Ayako sighed. "In your next life, you could be the new Moon Spirit!"

"You really like it?" Korra asked.

"We love it!" Tamayo exclaimed.

"Should the bridesmaids wear blue, for your Nation?" Tamako asked.

"I think that fits," Korra said.

"Perfect then!" said Ayako, but before they could discuss further, Korra began to feel sick again.

"Umm...I'm sorry, can we take a break?" Korra asked before she got up and rushed out.

Pema and Amai gave a knowing look of sympathy.

"What's wrong with her?" Tamako asked.

"Morning sickness," Ayako answered. "Let's just hope she isn't too irritable."

"...Ohhh, right," Tamako muttered.

In the restroom, Korra coughed a bit, having just finished puking.

She flushed the toilet, then rinsed out her mouth and washed her face.

"Ugh...this baby I'm having better make all the morning sickness worth it," she griped.

She then went to the kitchen to get some food.

Pema was already there, waiting, "Have the weird cravings started?"

"I don't know yet," Korra replied. "When did they start for you?"

"Oh, about a month or so in," Pema replied.

"But I am hungrier than usual," Korra got some watermelon.

"That's fine, too," said Pema. "Comes with the pregnancy. Just be careful how much you eat and what you eat."

"Anything else I should know with how my body's gonna change?" Korra asked, a little concerned.

"Well, for one thing, expect to get a lot bigger in the upstairs department," Pema replied.

Korra nearly choked on the fruit she was eating and blushed heavily.

"Uhh...what else?" she asked.

"Hope you got a razor," Pema said. "You'll probably start growing a little fuzz on your face...and on your breasts and belly, too."

Korra held her head like she had a headache; this was a lot to take in.

"Oh, and you might start bleeding a bit," Pema added.

That made Korra worry, "Bleeding? Where?!"

"Oh, you know," Pema said as she pointed down, "But that's okay. It's only a 25% chance of happening, and it's only a tiny bit of spotting. If you bleed too much, though, and you're experiencing stomach pains, that's when you should talk to a doctor." She frowned at her, worriedly. "It might mean that...you miscarried."

Korra gasped in horror, "I thought that only happens if you do something you're not supposed to do, like fighting!"

"It could happen anytime, Korra," Pema said.

~~~~~~~~~~~A couple weeks later, the wedding took place~~~~~~~~~~~

Korra stood in front of a mirror in her dress, looking herself over.

"...I can't believe it's the big day," she whispered.

She rubbed her still flat stomach, "Please let Mommy get through this without getting sick, okay? Please?"

Someone knocked on the door and Asami's voice called, "Korra, are you ready?"

"Yeah, I'm coming!" Korra called back as she walked out.

It was a very nice ceremony; nothing too fancy, but still pretty elegant.

One thing that couldn't be helped was that A LOT of people were there!

But...it was the Avatar's wedding.

Naturally, everyone was going to find out about it (as long as no one gave it away that Korra was pregnant).

Thankfully, that matter still remained a well guarded secret. Not even President Raiko knew about it.

Tonraq walked his daughter down the aisle, and she was already close to tears.

"It's okay, Korra," Tonraq whispered.

"I'm sorry," Korra replied as she wiped her eyes.

When they reached the arch, he kissed her forehead and took his seat beside Senna.

Varrick was asked to officiate the wedding, though no one knew why.

As for Taizun, he was dressed up in his finest suit, complete with a corsage.

He couldn't decide who should be the best man, so Mako, Bolin, Rokum and Akitaru all stood with him.

Asami, Ayako, Tamayo and Tamako were all wearing dresses in different shades of blue.

Taizun almost wanted to cry, himself. He never saw Korra look so beautiful.

They both said "I do" without hesitation, kissed, and the crowd erupted with applause!

And up in the sky, Timaeus and the rest of the dragons all smiled as they watched.

Taizun carried a now heavily pregnant Korra over to Katara's healing pool, and gently placed her in it.

She had only had a few cramps so far, but it was almost time for her due date.

The warm water thankfully eased any pain she felt.

Katara suggested that Korra give birth in water, saying it would be much easier on both her and the baby.

Taizun heated his hands a bit and rubbed her shoulders.

"How are you feeling, Korra?" asked Taizun.

"I think I'm getting ready," Korra replied.

She winced as she felt a big cramp.

"Your muscles are contracting," Katara stated as the pool glowed. "It's definitely time."

"Okay, Korra, here we go," Taizun whispered. "Just breathe."

Korra nodded as she began to breathe deeply, in and out. The healing waters of the pool actually helped ease her contractions while Katara stood nearby, ready to catch the baby.

It was still painful, but quite as much.

Korra panted before she felt another contraction, and pushed.

She could already feel the head beginning to squeeze out of the birth canal, causing her to bite her teeth.

"You can do it," said Taizun as he sat behind her, rubbing her shoulders. "You can do it, Korra!"

"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" she screamed as she pushed again.

That's when she felt something slip out from between her legs...

Katara took the newborn and cleaned it. Taizun cut the umbilical cord and brought a pillow for Korra to rest against.

A minute later, Katara brought over a baby girl.

"Here you go, Korra," she said as she handed Korra and Taizun their newborn daughter.

"Oh, spirits...look at her, Tai...!" Korra whispered with tears in her eyes.

He cried a bit as well, stroking her chubby little cheeks,
"She's beautiful...!"

The baby girl wasn't quite as dark as Korra, but definitely not as light as Taizun. She had dark hair, but it was hard to tell if it would be dark brown or black.

"Aria," Korra decided her name.

"...It's beautiful," said Taizun. "Welcome to the world, little Aria."

Aria cooed softly as she held her mother's finger. Her eyes were blue, like Korra's.

"Look...she has your eyes...!" whispered Taizun.

"She's absolutely perfect...!" Korra whispered, then kissed her baby girl's head.

She held her close, rocking her gently.

Being a new mother would add a few more challenges to her life, but Korra wouldn't change anything about it.

As the Avatar, she would always be ready to restore balance to the world. And her friends, family, and especially her husband would be there to help her.

They had a daughter!

There may be more to this story in the future, but I'm not 100% on that yet. For now, it's finished.
