RWBY: Skull Island
Chap 1
"ALL SYSTEMS GREEN!" A random Atlas navy man shouted out.
"GET THOSE SUPPLIES ON THE SHIP!" A Vacuo soldier ordered.
"WEATHER REPORTS SHOW CLREA SKIES!" A Mistral scientist shouted.
'Clear skies. Yeah, right.' I thought as I sat on an empty box.
"You know Arc. Had you not tried sabotage this voyage, you wouldn't be chained like a common criminal." Weiss said smirking. The rest of her team and my old team walking up behind her.
"I rather go to jail and die there than go back to that accursed island." I argued.
"Stop exaggerating Jaune. We're badass huntsmen in training. We can handle anything." Yang said cockily.
"Yeah." Ruby agreed.
"Try saying that when those fucking animals are ripping your whorish ass apart." I told her.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY!?" Yang shouted with her eyes red and her hair on fire.
You might be wondering what the hell is going on right now. Well, it's a long story. But essentially, Atlas Kingdom discovered an island that has just 'popped up' on radar not too long ago. An island that has never been seen before nor explored. To their knowledge. Soon, the other kingdoms discovered it as well and have come to an agreement to send a massive exploration to the island and document everything about it.
But that is where I come in. As, despite their knowledge and claim to have records of everything, the island has been explored before. Me and many others set furth on an adventure to explore the island. The reason for it was not important. You just need to know that the group was fifty thousand strong yet in the end there was only fifty of us left. And every single person on the voyage was a top expert in their field. Whether it guns and melee weapons to more scientific fields such as botany and cartographers. It was just deadly the island. And that is not including the giant beastie that lived there as well.
Either way, after discovering the island, all the kingdoms agreed to make a massive voyage to explore and document the island together. Yet, they were continuously delayed as many things kept going. Some things even getting destroyed and need replacing. Like an entire ship full of valuable supplies and weapons. But unfortunately, my luck ran out and I was eventually caught. And since this was involving and technically, at least according to them, treason of the highest kind against the kingdoms, they wanted me dead.
But first came a trial. Mainly for them to understand the reason as to why I did it. Needless to say, when everyone learned of my reasons for doing so, they laughed. They laughed so hard that some nearly pissed their pants. But their laughing stopped when surprisingly, Ozpin stepped in to 'defend me.' He told everyone of how the Arc family makes their kids undergo a trial of sorts to 'prove their worth' and that an expedition I took with others to the island actually have a strong probability.
Yet despite this, many of them still wanted me dead or at the very least wanted me put in jail for the rest of my life and then some. But to my surprise again, Ozpin and this time Ironwoods, whom I both despise heavily, stepped in and convinced that kingdoms that I could be of some help to them since I had been to the island before.
Initially I refused, stating that I would rather be hanged by the neck, skewered through the heart, drowned or given the chair rather than go anywhere near that cursed island. Needless to say, more than a few people were shocked at my declaration and my resolve. Yet, only a few took me seriously still. And even few still cared of what I said. But after much arguing, I eventually relented and said I would help them. But on two conditions. One being that I could call in all the people who were with me on the first failed voyage to that cursed island. And second was that everyone listened and do exactly what we say, when we say it. And I don't even need to say it that they laughed at my request. As I knew and prepared myself for the vacation that would be prison as anything is better than going back to that island.
But my disappointment continued to grow that day as after an hour of waiting, the kingdoms agreed to my terms. Which also shocked many people that were present for the trial. Yet, their shock quickly turned into excitement when they realized that they could go ahead with exploring the island as scheduled. But none of them like the idea of having to follow someone they still consider a traitor and his friends/allies.
After three months of spending time in jail, as helping them did not absolve me of the 'crimes' I committed, and contacting my old allies and friends, the date had finally arrived. Today was the day where we would set off for that island. And most likely all day as a result. Hich aslo brings me to my current situation. Sitting on a box chained on the harbor of where we are supposed to sail from, as they thought I would try and escape, and having to deal with a pissed off Yang.
"We all know you slept with pretty much any male that had a pulse Yang. At became common news a month after a month in Beacon." I told her.
"HEY! DON'T YOU EVER TALK TO MY PRECIOUS DAUGHTER LIKE THAT!" A voice shouted. Turning around, I saw Taiyang walking up to us with clenched fists.
'Right, even the parents of Beacon students are coming along. Some retired huntsmen are coming also. I think I even saw Neo and Roman on the list of people coming along.' I thought remembering just how many people of different fields are coming along. And that foolishly included people who are basically only good as fodder to get away from an attacker.
"It's true." I countered bored. As I have been sitting here since roughly four in the morning.
"Doesn't matter. Say that again and I will end you." A new voice spoke up. Turning to it, we saw that it was Yang's birth mother Raven stepping up to us.
"Please do. Then I won't have to go to that accursed place. And I can laugh as you all die horrible deaths." I said unfazed by what she said.
"You know, I'm starting to consider why we have ever hanged out as you're are being such an ass Jaune." Blake remarked.
"Stop lying Blake. We never hanged out as you were more interested in fruitless trying to reform the White Fang into something it no longer. And foolishly believing that all of them are simply misguided." I told her which made her growl. But before anyone else could say anything, a soldier shouted out.
"UNIDENTIFIED SHIP COMING!" He shouted warning all of us.
'That's them.' I thought to turning to the water and saw a rather old yet sleek looking cargo/transport ship come into view. Hearing the sounds of helicopters above, we looked up and saw three fully armed helicopters fly overhead towards the ship and land on it.
"I take it those are your friends." Ironwoods said walking from behind us.
"Yes. They are." I said as I got up from my seat while ignoring the heated glares from everyone else around me.
"Wait. How did you escape your chains?" Ironwoods asked seeing that I was no longer bounded by the chains.
"There is a lot of shit you don't know about me. Plus, despite your claims, Atlas is actually shit at many things." I answered as we walked towards the edge of the harbor.
"You know with that attitude, no one is ever going to come to your funeral." Ren stated getting annoyed with me.
"And all of you will only have a memorial service after this trip." I countered as the ship finally arrived and docked.
"What do you mean?" Raven asked.
"By the end of this, there will nothing left of the people you know or cared for that it will be a closed casket." I explained.
"How many people you think will even die Jaune? We are not idiots. We are taking extra precautions." Pyrrha asked annoyed and angry.
"I'll put like this and I'll only say it once. When I first went there, we were fifty thousand strong with top people of their fields in every field needed and fields we felt were needed. Yet in the end, there was only fifty of us left. Everyone else died in various tragic ways." I answered. I didn't even need to look at them to know that what I said sent a shiver down their spines. Shaking my head, I looked back at the ship and saw many people disembark from the ship. Fifty in total and I knew every single one of them.
"Hey Jaune." A tall tanned man with multiple scars covering his body greeted as he walked up to me.
"Hey Cayden." I said smiling as I shook his hands. I then looked past him and saw the rest looking around in anger and irritation. "I take it everyone came."
"Yup. And none are too please going back." He answered. At this, Ironwoods stepped up.
"I take it your one of Jaune's allies. I am-" He began but was cut off.
"Don't care. Names mean nothing where we are going." Cayden growled out before turning to Weiss. "Social status means shit as well."
"HEY!" Weiss shouted angry.
"We're going to make this clear. Do as we say, and only a quarter of everyone here will die. Don't and everyone will die." Cayden said bitterly.
"As if we need-" Weiss began but was cut off when another person behind Cayden lined up a rifle at her head.
"Try it. And I'll blow your brains out." The lady threatened.
"Easy Ilona. They are just fools. Save your ammo for the island." I told her. She growled before lowering her rifle.
"Are you all ready?" Cayden asked impatiently.
"Almost. In the hour everything will be set and ready to set sail." Ironwood answered.
"Do better. Until then. We'll be on the ship. And remember, we won't hesitate to leave anyone behind." Cayden warned before we all headed back on the ship.
"I wonder what exactly is on this island that caused Jaune-Jaune to be like this?" I heard Nora asked.
'Looking death in the eye on Oum's unfished island.' I mentally answered as I also boarded the ship and pulled the ramp up so as to not let anyone else on board.
One Hour Later
"ALL RIGHT! TIME TO GO!" A mistral soldier shouted with the order being repeated on every single piece of communication equipment.
"Let's set sail to this new island and see what it has in store for us." Ironwoods said over the radio. And within a couple of minutes, we left the harbor aner were sailing towards the cursed island.
'I just pray that sense will come to these people in time. Otherwise, no one is escaping that island.' I thought as I held the railing at the front of the ship.
"We're going to die. Aren't we?" Ilona asked walking up to me. Next to her was Caitali. Our resident tracker with an excellent memory.
"Most likely." I answered.
"And if by some miracle, if we do make it back, the kingdoms will consider all of us traitors. You because of what you did and us because guilty by association." Ilona said glaring at the ships surrounding ours.
"Even though that's not how it works, they will make up some excuse and say it is." Caitali added.
"Do you think we will meet the king again?" Ilona asked.
"Most definitely. Hopefully we all die or they gain enough sense to leave before that happens though." I answered.
"Talk about a lose-lose situation." Caitali surmised.
We all nodded in agreement. Essentially, our lives were over. Either by dying or being sent to jail for the rest of the lives. After that, we just stayed there in silence. Just enjoying our last moments of being free and alive. Turning around, we casted one last look at Remanent as it disappeared from sight. Sighing, we turned back around and stared at the vast sea that will lead to our deaths. The silence was only broken when about a half hour later Cayden called out to us.
"HEY! IT'S TIME!" He shouted to us. Nodding, we all went over to him as he left the door open for us. Stepping into the bridge, we saw a few others setting up the main monitor for the meeting.
'I see you actually answered.' Ironwoods said once the monitor activated.
"Cut the shit Ironwoods. Let's get this underway." Cayden seethed.
'Right. Okay. So, all of you are going to be our navigators/guides.' Ozpin said reminding everyone.
"And that means listening to us. As soon we say something, you all do it. And to clarify for the little shits that are with us, not doing it doesn't mean a slap on the wrist. It means dying by the creatures that are on the island." Ilona elaborated/threatened when we heard some people groan in annoyance when they remembered we were the guides.
'Ignoring that, since you all were the first ones to the island-' Ironwoods began but I cut him off.
"We never said we were the first ones there, Ironwoods." I told him.
'I distinctly remember-' He tried to lie but I cut him off again.
"You can lie all you want Ironwoods. But it doesn't change the fact that we were never the first ones there. Before you, yes. But not the first ones." I corrected.
'So, you were never the first ones? Do you know who were the first?' A captain of another ship asked with wide eyes. We all looked at each other for a moment before Caitali answered.
"Not really. All we know is that there were about four previous voyages to the island. And that is not including the possible ships that got lost and landed on the island." She answered.
"And before you ask. No. We don't know any details further than that." I added before they could ask their obvious question.
'Very well. But I must ask this. Why did you make us bring all these weapons and ammunition? Enough to essentially invade any kingdom easily.' Winter asked.
"Simple. Unlike on Remnant, we are not the biggest, fiercest or fastest. Not even the deadliest or smartest." Cayden answered.
"Not to mention, they will most likely find you before you even notice them. And the last thing you will see before you die is dozens of razor-sharp teeth being used to tear you apart." I added.
'Can you give us a description of the island?' A scientist from Vale asked.
"The only description we can actually give of the island, none of you would believe. But we can give you the legend behind that surrounds the island." Caitali told them.
'That will do as well.' Ironwoods said intrigued.
"It goes like this. The island is a land that Oum never finished. Forever frozen in time. Where monsters exist and roam about killing everything. A land that even when remembered by Oum, doesn't want anything to with it." I told them.
'Sounds like an island ripe with new scientific possibilities and discoveries.' A researcher from Atas said excitedly.
'What should we name this island?' Glynda asked walking to the front. And from her expression, we could tell she was weary of what we were telling them but also what is on the island.
"It already has a name." Cayden interjected.
'You gave it a name already?' Ozpin asked.
"Actually, despite it essentially unknown to basically everybody, it does in fact have a name." Ilona explained before adding. "And no. We don't exactly know where it comes from."
'What is it then?' Ironwoods asked.
"Skull Island." We all answered in a grave tone.
Note:
Essentially, the Rwby verse will be going to and exploring Skull Island.
The version of Skull Island this story will use is the 2005 King Kong movie version.
Jaune will be more of an ass in this story due to him being on the island previously and secret he is hiding.
Next Chapter they will arrive.
