Prologue -

Upon the cliff overlooking the green sea that is Emerald Forest, a woman stood with a device in hand, its holographic screen displaying videos of different parts of the forest bellow, some even showing people on it. These people are those who wanted to study at the hall of the academy, who desire to join the ranks of hunters. On this day, At the young age of 16, they throwing themselves to dangers of the Emerald Forest. Because under its lush green canopy, the demented creatures of Grimm are prowling about, savage and hungry.

It was a dangerous test, to be sure. But one cannot truly test a potential of these younglings with straw dolls, or machines. To make sure nothing was rigged to one's favor, and to see how they react in certain dangers, they threw these kids into the monster's habitat.

It was a controlled habitat, of course. The Grimm population was noted, and managed. But one cannot be too sure, because accident might still happen. So, they employed experienced hunters to oversee the test, one of these hunters was Glynda Goodwitch.

Standing before her Scroll, she has one finger hovering over a small on its side—her chary green eyes focusing at every feed displayed on the screen. she then zeroing in at a certain feed, where a pair of participants was shown.

They appeared to be handling a pack of Grimm, Glynda noted that one of them was injured, blood drenching their sleeve. She pressed the button "Team CFVY, site 15" she calmly said

An answer then rang in her ear, "On it!"

Before long, a group of people entered the screen. they killed the Grimm without any issue and bring the examinees to the infirmary. Glynda released a sigh, it was the fifth time today.

She hated the view before her, not for their suicidal enthusiasm, but for how arrogant they are. The screen displayed their arrogance quiet well, how they underestimated the Grimm's threat, treating this test like some sort of Game. Those five showed promises of a good hunters, yet their hubris became their downfall. They were lucky that this is a controlled test, if it was out in the field?

She can only shudder at the thought.

Fortunately, she noticed the problem sooner. Now all she has to do was to hammer home the lesson… again. "This year batch, is certainly… passionate" someone said from her side. She don't need to glance to know who it was.

A middle-aged man stood by Glynda's side—he wore black unzipped suit over a dark green vest and shirt. His hair is messy silver bush, a pair of venerable brown eyes hiding under shaded glasses. Resting his hands on a cane, he observes the exam over Glynda's shoulder.

Glynda shook her head, "Passion and arrogance are two different things, Oz"

"Arrogance of youth is a form of Passion too, sharp and raw. As teacher, it is our job to temper those passions, humble them with knowledge and experience" The man—Ozpin said, he then flashed her a weary smile "but, I do understand your weariness. You saw the same thing every year, after all."

"Weary is an understatement, sir."

They then continue to watch the exam in silence. Glynda watchfully glued her gaze to the screen, regarding every smidgen of details. Her body leaning forward ever so slightly. While Ozpin on the other hand, has a look that one might see as relaxed—borderline apathetic.

True he might just hurl his students to a forest filled with Grimm few minutes ago. But he did so because he knew and believe of their ability, he knew that they'll adapt to their first lesson as hunters

Expect the unexpected

A feed captured his attention. On it, a pair of male applicants were shown to fighting against a pack of Beowolves. One boy, swings his mace mightily on an approaching wolf, caving its skull like cardboard. Meanwhile, his partner dealing with smaller wolves with his sword. The pair were killing the Grimm without any issue.

It was fine and dandy until another pack arrived.

This pack consisted of bigger wolves and shown to use some sort of strategy. A pair of Beowolves were flanking them, then another pair tried to attack their blind spot.

Despite the strategy, the boys still prevail. But then the Grimm the pair killed were immediately replaced by another pair that appeared out of the bushes.

Ozpin narrowed his eyes, "Glynda"

"I know" Glynda replied and pushed the mic's button, "Team CVFY, Bartolomew site 32, Alpha!"

"What!? Shit, were on our way!"

"Understood!"

Without a word, Glynda handed Ozpin her scroll and walked briskly to a platform. She firmed her standing and with a wave of a riding crop she's holding, she was flung high in the air. Ozpin watches as his assistant as she descending into the forest.

Missing a blink of yellow on a screen.

Cardin Winchester is not weak by any means. Standing at towering 173cm tall, combined with his Athletic build, he's the very definition of the word Jock. Back in his academy, he was a star of every sport club he joined. Not just that, he also won few sports competitions with various results. due to these facts, there is no doubt that Beacon Academy will accept him. He was sure of it

Cardin expected an exam to filter deadweights. He is confident that he will pass it no problem, he might not be at the first place—since that Nikos girl apply here too—but he WILL be at the top 5. He has the mace, and muscle to prove it.

But even he didn't saw THIS coming.

He expected the exam to be fight against some machines, or each other. Being flung into a forest filled with Grimm was the last thing he expected. Even so, he will bulldoze this test no problem

A roar came from behind, Cardin swing his mace at the direction and crushed a Beowolf's bone plated head, "cowards" he spat at the corpse.

"You tell them, dude" his new partner agreed from his side as he cleaved another one in two.

Cardin reposition his grip on his mace, "I'll show these mindless freaks their place!" he roared and drive his weapon into a Beowolf's back. the Grimm crumbled before his might. Another one came after him, he kicked it and plunge his mace on its skull. Another one, and another one. He killed them with all with single hit. With cocky smirk, Cardin staggered a Beowolf and stomp on its head, killing it.

The Beowolf seemed to stop coming out of the bushes. Cardin rest his mace on his shoulder.

"Dude, you're strong. If it was other people, I don't think I could handle those freaks!"

Cardin's chest puffed up to the praise "guess you're lucky, because you're my partner now"

'Your partner will be the first people you saw' he remembered the words of the headmaster.

It was a stupid rule in his opinion, he rather teamed up with more capable people than this guy. With stronger teammates, he will ace this academy and be the strongest team they ever see.

It will be another achievement added to his name.

Despite that, he can see some good of this rule. Being the strongest in a group meant that he will the leader. Then they will no doubt follow his words—Being the alpha in a pack and all

It's been a while since he had a lackey, he thought with a smirk.

Before his partner could say anything, howls echoes from the forest. Cardin sighs, "again?" he readied a stance nonetheless, his partner followed.

From the bushes, a pair of Beowolves appeared—one charging at him while the other to his partner. Both were killed by Cardin and his partner. Another pair appeared just to meet the same fate, then again, again, and again. Some tried to sneak on them, but they were slain like the others.

As if they were mass produced by the bushes, the Beowolves just won't stop coming out. A pair died and was replaced by another one no time flat, this annoyed Cardin. Not just the fact that his hand was starting to sore, but because as if those Grimm were looking down on him.

And Cardin hates being looked down.

"RAAAH!" he roared furiously and killed a pair with a furious smash, He charge forward and killed another pair. Another came out and flank him, But Cardin spun and strike the two with a force of speeding car. he massacred any Beowolves that came out from the bushes, until they eventually stopped.

"Dude, you good?" his partner asked, concerned. He winced when Cardin shot him a glare.

Cardin scoffed, "those freaks are nothing." He said between breathes, "big in numbers, but weak is still weak"

"y-yeah, you're right" Cardin scoffed at the show of cowardice, of course he was.

A loud growl interrupted the exchange, both of them turned around. Their gaze landed on a much bigger Beowolf with plates and slightly longer bones protrusions. Cardin took a stance, while his partner gulped at the sight.

"D-dude, I think we should run" he suggested. Cardin inwardly scoffed, of course a deadweight would say that.

"If you want to pussy out, then leave. I can take it down by myself!"

"But dude, that's an Alpha!" he points at the Beowolf, who just stood on its hind legs, its demented red eyes gaze upon the two hungrily.

"So?"

His partner shot him an incredulous look, "so we run! Dammit, man. We're no match for this shit!"

Cardin stood tall and ignored him. He lets out a battle cry and charge at the Alpha, the Grimm lets out a roar of its own and lunge at him.

Cardin's mace parried a claw swipe and he dodged the other. Cardin kicked the Grimm in its gut and swing his mace. The Beowolf pulled its head, Cardin's mace flying inch away from its maw. The Grimm swing its claws up, but Cardin jumps away before they could hit.

In the distance, Cardin landed on one knee. Ignoring his labored breath, he charges at the Grimm once more. Wildly swings his mace at the Beowolf who dodged them with ease. The Grimm then drive its sharp claw at Cardin's gullet, an attack that Cardin narrowly missed.

"Dude!"

Stumbling back, Cardin felt a trickle of warmth on his neck, then it was followed by a soothing tickle. He pressed a hand at his neck, feeling the slowly closing wounds. Cardin glared at the Grimm, who just stood menacingly, speck of bloods on its claw.

The Grimm went down on all four and rush at him, Cardin gritted his teeth and went defensive, blocking flurry of attacks from the Beowolf. Later, the Grimm brought down its claws, Cardin swing his mace, locking them into a deadlock. The Grimm pressed down with great strength, while Cardin pushed with all his might.

Then A desperate yell interrupted the standoff. With a sickening crunch, a tip of a blade pierced the Grimm's gut. The Grimm roared in pain as black ichor flow out of the wound.

The Grimm glared behind it, where Cardin's partner stood petrified. With an angry roar, it released the impasse, grabs the boy by his face and dragged him away before rammed him against a Tree repeatedly until the boy passed out. Dropping the boy, the Grimm evaded a surprise attack from Cardin.

This greatly shocked Cardin, "What— "but the Grimm interrupted and grabs Cardin by the throat, it then slammed him unto the ground. But it doesn't stop, the Grimm bit right hand—where he wields his mace—and dragged him across the ground. He was stomped, grinded against a rock, and thrown to a tree log—reducing it to splinters.

By the end of the torture, Cardin's skin flickered as he lost consciousness. The Grimm released its grasp and prowled to Cardin's side then drove its maw at Cardin's neck.

But a strike on its side threw it off and send it hurling to the trees!

"Sorry, but no snack during study hour" a voice said. Slowly recovering, the Alpha glared at the new arrival—a boy with dazzling white outfit. The boy stood over Cardin, whilst fixing his gloves.

The Grimm growled at him, but the boy stood fearless, "any other day, I'd let creatures like you go." He pointed at the Alpha, locking his bright brown eyes at its soulless red "but you're hardly a creature to begin with, right?" The Grimm roared and pounced, the boy crouched and placed a hand to Cardin's shoulder

The Grimm landed on empty dirt. It whipped its head around, then it noticed that Cardin's partner was also missing. "how's my Light Speed?" the Grimm turned. High on a branch the boy sat, shining with confidence "Dazzling was it not?"

"Although I quite interested to study your biology," He stood up, "I need to finish this before anyone see me" suddenly the boy blinked out of existence, leaving behind motes of light.

the boy reappeared above the Grimm, above the forest's canopy. He moved his hands in flashy motion, his eyes turned bright white, "Optical Light Shot!" and released a blinding white beam from his eyes.

The ray of light rained down the Grimm, piercing every means of defense on its body. In its mind, it was unable to comprehend. It lived for a hundred years, had slain mans and beasts alike. Its experience let it grows bones harder than steel, able to fend off Aura that's deadly to its kind. How such a simple light could penetrate its impeccable defense?

The light dwindled as it erased the monster out of existence. Before long, all that's left is a small opening in the woods with signs of struggles. The boy landed and observed his handiwork—a perfect circle patch of burned ground. He bobbed his head in satisfaction, "another masterpiece from yet another good work"

His ears then picked up rustling of leaves and faint rumble of feet, "better get out of here then" he said to no one and disappeared from the scene.

On a branch of a tree—completely hidden from prying eyes and cameras—the boy reappeared. He crouched down as he silently gawk at the newly arrived group—It was that lady Glynda Goodwitch along with a man, and bunch of teenagers older than him (probably second year or something). He observed as the new group inspected the place, one of the students—one with bunny ears, almost saw him. But she was called by Glynda and they took off with the injured

Once the group was out of the perimeter, he dropped down "well that's something…" He muttered and scanning his surrounding, "throwing some kids into jungle then let them fight off the monster inside. that headmaster is off his rocker"

A faint yellow flash engulfed the boy, when it died down gone was the white outfit. It was replaced with more casual clothing—consisting of orange vest, black shirt and trousers, and complimented with a dinosaur themed cap. "Sadly, this is rather tame than what Admiral Tarung did" the boy sighed.

He recalled a test he went through about few months back, between this and being thrown into a planet filled with lava rivers and active volcanos—he'd pick this easily. Though that begs the question.

"Do we have to fight against someone at the temple?" he muttered as he recalled the goal.

The goal was simple, to retrieve a relic in a temple somewhere in the forest. Though, the rule is what hinders him the most: once he makes an eye contact with someone, they will be assign as partner.

As much as he wanted to know anyone here, he can't risk his mission's confidentiality.

Speaking of which…

The boy lifted a hand, his gaze immediately went to an orange wristwatch on his wrist. He fiddled with the watch's face until a holographic screen popped up. On its screen was list of names, he pressed one under the name 'Fang'

The screen then morphed into a person—a boy with long coat, a purple full-frame glasses sits on his face. "Boboiboy" Fang greeted

"Yo, Fang!" Boboiboy greet back, "say, where are you, did you get paired with someone?"

Fang scoffed, "I'm the stealthiest amongst our group, Boboiboy. Sticking in the shadow and keeping quiet is my bread and butter. Not a single soul has seen me" He bragged, his nostrils blossomed with pride, "as for where I am. I'm already at the temple, got the 'relic' already"

"Really, what is it?" Boboiboy eyes lights up in curiosity

"Fortunately, it's not power sphere," Fang pulls out a small object from his pocket, a chess piece.

Boboiboy quirked an eyebrow, "chess piece, why would that count as relic?"

"I don't know, but if I had to guess: It's a way to assign a team."

"Assign a team with chess, how exactly?"

Fang hold his chin, "maybe, to pair them with anyone who hold the same piece?"

"Oh, if you and me got pawn, even if we didn't see each other, we could still get paired up?"

Fang nodded, "yes, but let's meet up regardless. I'll await you at the temple." The hologram fades off, then the watch lets off a ping. The watch then showed a small map with an arrow pointing to the west.

"Great, now that's out of the way" He was engulfed with light again. He's wardrobe changed once again, now his outfit was striking yellow. "let's finish this test!"

He dashed away to the west, a hint of lightning under his feet.

Boboiboy found the ruin, hidden by the trees and bushes far inside the forest. He strolled as he took in the scenery. Pillars, broken down walls, remains of stone pavement. "Is this the place?" he checked his wristwatch, "yep this is the place" Though, this place is more of a ruin than a temple. He entered the ruin, his gaze immediately land on pedestals inside.

"Took you long enough" a familiar voice spoke

Boboiboy turned around. Fang was standing on a pillar while folding his hand, his coat waving dramatically. Fang pushes his glasses up, "with your lightning form, I would have thought you arrived in less than 5 minutes"

Boboiboy rolled his eyes, "Ceh! Unlike you, I have to keep an eye to my surroundings. No one would ask your ability, but the moment they saw me turning used Lightning Step?"

The boy with glasses smirked, "is that jealousy I heard from you?"

"In your dream!"

Fang chuckled, "admit it, you're jealous of my power. I can use them freely, since it affects only me" he then dropped down.

The boy sigh, "Whatever kept your sleep at night, Fang"

"Speaking of which, go pick your piece" Fang suggested, he then showed Boboiboy a white pawn piece "we should really keep our team to be just two of us"

Boboiboy nodded and approach the pedestals. He noticed that there's only a single pawn piece left, "Fang, did you hide the rest of the pawn?"

Said boy shook his head, "nope, we're not the first to got here. On my way here, I passed few people who had picked those relics"

"Do you think we won't be paired with anyone else?"

Fang shrugged, "who knows, let's see if 'She' has something to say about it later" Boboiboy nodded and picked the piece. The duo exited the temple, the moment they stepped out of the temple they met with a pair of examinees— a girl with long bright yellow hair, and another with silky black hair with bow sat atop of her head.

"Aw, looks like we got beaten to the punch, Blakey" the yellow haired girl said with mock sadness, 'Blakey' grunted from her side. the girl flashed a smile at the duo, "Yo, name's Yang and this Ball of sunshine is Blake" she pointed a thumb at her partner.

"Nice to meet you" Blake said simply

Boboiboy shoot a subtle glance at Fang, who nodded, "Boboiboy, and this is Fang"

Yang approached the two and gave them a look over, "Oh, looks like we got another dark and broody here!" she commented, "a double whammy at that, you two should hang out with Blake sometimes!"

"we're not dark and broody" Boboiboy interjected coolly, Fang nodded "it's just him"

"Hey!"

Yang smirked, "Really? Could've fooled me with that attitude" she shrugged, "well, as much as I love to get to know you handsome boys, me and Blakey still have relics to collect. Let's go, partner!" She and Blake then strolled pass the duo.

The duo continued their walk, but Fang stopped. Boboiboy halt his steps, he glanced at Fang who was looking up, "what's wrong?" the raven-haired boy just pointing up—to someone falling from the sky.

"Heads Uuuuuup!" a growing scream was heard from above.

Alarmed, Boboiboy was about to act, but the person who was falling were crashed against another person. The both of them were thrown to the trees near where Yang and Blake stood. the Duo went to check.

"Did your sister just fell down from the sky?" they heard Blake asked.

Yang was speechless, "I- "

Before she can continue, several crashing noises are heard in the forest ahead of them, and a bear-like Grimm comes out, claws swiping, just as a pink blast of energy hits it in the back and it crashes to the ground, depositing its rider—a girl with short orange hair, wearing pink outfit with white accent.

"YEEE-haaaaw!" she cheered like a cowboy, she rolled back off the Grimm. She gets up, noticing that her beast of burden is dead, she groaned "Aaaaw… it's broken"

A boy appeared not long after. panting, he leaned on the Grimm's carcass, "Nora! Please… don't ever do that again." He said, almost pleading. But she ignored him, and went to the pedestals.

Boboiboy had seen enough, he was satisfied. He nudged Fang, "let's go, we're wasting time" he said, tipping his cap. His partner nodded and they exited the temple once again

But their journey once again stopped, this time by a giant scorpion Grimm (Deathstalker, if Boboiboy remembered correctly) chasing after yet another person. "Pyrrha!" a boy dangling on a tree called.

Pyrrha, who was being chased by the Deathstalker, looks up "Jaune!"

One thing after another happened; Blake stating the obvious, Yang losing her mind, another girl fell down to the sky—who revealed to be Yang's sister's partner. It was total chaos, cacophony of noises and exchange hummed in the forest. It could drive any normal person into insanity

Fang was a bit amused by these turns out events, it was rare to see such occurrence, even in the bizarre place that is outer space. It was chaotic yes, but an enjoyable one. he doesn't mind these types of environments, if they toned a down a bit, that is.

A crackle from his side catches his attention, he glanced at his partner, Boboiboy now has flickers of electricity running on his hands, his expression was flat but his eyes were rumbling with annoyance. it seems not just Yang who losses her mind, Fang thought, his lips tugged into a smirk

He sometimes forgot how short tempered Boboiboy's lighting form is.

Fang nudged Boboiboy's side, who immediately took control of his emotion. With a long sigh, the crackle of electricity was no more.

"Great! The gang is all here! Now we can die together!" came Yang's comment

"Not if I can help it!" Yang's sister screamed a battle cry and rushes to the Deathstalker!

Yang was shocked, "Ruby, Wait!"

Still screaming, Ruby fires her weapon and charges at the oncoming Grimm. The two met, the Grimm swatted away Ruby, knocking her back to the ground.

Ruby got up slowly, "D-don't worry! Totally fine!"

Ruby turns back to the monster and shoots it in the skull, but it didn't even put a dent on the shell of calcium. Seeing the error of her action, Ruby ran away and sheathing her weapon—a scythe, as the Grimm now goes after her

Seeing her sister in danger, Yang ran forward "Ruby!"

Ruby rushes towards Yang, but a loud caw echo from above, and giant feathers rained down on them. Ruby was unlucky enough to have one of those feathers catch her cape, pinning her in place.

"Ruby, get out of there!"

"I'm trying!" she screamed as she struggling to break free

The Scorpion Grimm approaches. raising its golden stinger above a scared Ruby and heading down on the helpless girl

"Ruby!" Yang screamed as she reaches out in vain. Ruby shuts her eyes and raised her arms, preparing to meet her demise.

A loud boom and crack echoes through the field.

Ruby slowly opens her eyes to the sight of a completely frozen solid Deathstalker, and lowers her arms from their futile position over her head as she stares at her savior.

It was Boboiboy—but instead of his yellow outfit, it was freezing blue. The previously worn vest was replaced by a fur-lined hoodie with cold white streaks. The has one hand raised, trained at the deathstalker. Boboiboy turns to Ruby, warm blue eyes met with bright silver.

"You good?" he asked, Ruby slowly nodded, "Good, Good" he turned to the crowd at the temple.

"You all need to chill, relax, slow down… chaotic environment like before will raise stress, stressful situation made you prone to do mistakes, not to mention it'll cause wrinkle!" he emphasized on 'wrinkle', then turned to Ruby, "you don't want to have wrinkles in your twenty, right?"

Ruby shook her head dumbly, Boboiboy nodded, "Me too." he shatters the ice statue with a single powerful kick. Everyone but Fang went agape by the display.

Boboiboy turns to Fang and shouted, "Fang! let's go, I've cleared the path"

Fang nodded and jogs to Boboiboy, "how about the Nevermore?" he asked. Boboiboy raised an eyebrow, then it struck him

"Ah, the crow! Nah, they can handle it." He waved off, "take down the big bird for me, yeah? Bye!" he said as he and Fang sauntered off into the distance, leaving a rather stupefied audience behind. most of them wonders how he was able to kill a rather strong Grimm without much effort, meanwhile Yang wondered why his demeanor took a sudden shift. Blake decide to broke the silence.

"did he just-"

Yang cuts Blake's question, "yes, yes he is"

They passed a large stone bridge, from their position, they could see Beacon Academy tower peeking behind a cliff. Seeing that they are away from prying ears, Fang asked, "are you sure you want to show your 2nd tier already?"

Boboiboy, who has reverted to his normal state, shrugged "not much of a choice, beside it'll draw too much attention if I were to use Water"

"And shattering that Deathstalker isn't?" Fang deadpanned

The capped boy chuckle sheepishly, "y-yeah, I guess—but hey, at least it's more 'ordinary' than let's say, one blasted Grimm using ray of light"

Fang hummed, "and Fire?"

"Blabbermouth and too volatile" the boy said simply

Fang nodded, "fair enough. Though, you should be more careful when you changing, they'll become more suspicious when you do it without any repercussion." He advised, then dug out his pocket, "here!" he passed a chunk of crystal

Boboiboy catch it and gave it a look, an eyebrow rose, "what's this?"

"don't tell me you didn't read the dossier" Fang said flatly, "and you wonder why you stayed as Cadet"

"I read it, but it was too long! I mean come on, 320 pages and we need memorize everything?" Boboiboy complained, "I know you didn't too, you're not Yaya"

"Never said I did." Fang chuckled, "but, at the very least I knew tidbit about this planet, for example; that crystal called Dust"

"Dust?" Boboiboy parroted, "you're telling me, that this valuable looking stone is made from soot and dirt?"

"Not THAT dust. This Dust was made from coalescence of Energies in this planet. Remnant, contains massive amount of silica in its soil, which overtime crystalized and sometimes trapped some form of energy and turned into Dust crystals, those energy could be Elemental energy like fire or ice, or very rarely, light."

"Wow, that's so awesome!" Boboiboy eyes sparkled, "so what Dust Is this—Oh! It's yellow, is it lightning?"

Fang smirked, "Yep, seems like having Light in your arsenal do wonders to your brain"

"Duh, I'm not stupid, just rarely motivated!"

They shared some laugh, and before long, they arrived back in Beacon. They were greeted by a mass of students, loitering around idly. They decide to rest on a bench, where its less crowded and waiting further instruction. after few minutes of nothing, Fang decide to went to the amphitheater, to do some information gathering. Boboiboy decide to do the same, but without moving from the bench.

He let his eyes wanders on the students, especially on their weapons. "Awesome…!" he muttered when he saw someone turning their sword into a rapier, then to a flintlock.

He's feeling a bit jealous, to be honest. If only he thought of things like this back then, then his arsenal might be more colorful and less boring. But like they say, why replace something that isn't broken? Boboiboy might want to have weapons like them, but creating simpler weapon like bow or swords, are a lot easier than a bench that can turn into pistol—He might have made a cannon in the past, but that's more of a fancy funnel than an actual working mechanism.

Also, he already has 7 elements as his weapon, why do he need more?

During his musing, a bell rang, then every student in the yard starts to enter the Academy. Boboiboy stood up, stretched and followed the crowd.

The amphitheater was big, big enough to fit dozens of people without even getting too crowded, it was well furnished too. Boboiboy looks at the many benches above him, seeing them felt like he was in an arena, like in those movies about ancient roman and gladiators. Boboiboy decide to stood at the far end of the crowd.

Later, the Headmaster and his assistant walks to the stage's podium, he then starts to listed names and their assigned teams, followed by rounds of applause from the crowd. There are many teams, but the most familiar ones were team RWBY, and JNPR—he met them in the forest, after all.

After team RWBY, led by Ruby walks off the stage, the headmaster said his name, "Boboiboy, and Fang" their image then shown on a large screen above the headmaster. Cheered by rounds of applause, he joined Fang to the stage.

"The two of you retrieved the white pawn pieces. It was unfortunate however, that few examinees have failed, thus rendering the two of you without teammates" Ozpin said, "but do not fret, for we have this sort issue before. Thus, until we can assign new members to your team, a teacher will assign as your overseer"

From behind the curtain a slender woman strolled over, she wore a rather stained lab coat, her hair was bright with green tips, she held a dazzling grin as she strolled over, "Sup!" she greeted and lands her fine gold eyes upon the two, which made the boys shivers for some reason.

Ozpin then introduces, "this is Ms. Maya Fulbright, our 2nd and 3rd year chemistry professor. She will be the one responsible for you two, until we can assign someone in your team."

"Hey ya'll, looking forward to see you perform" Ms. Maya said chipperly. She then placed herself behind the duo.

Ozpin then continued, "with that, until further notice, you two will be known as Team Bifrost, led by… Boboiboy!" The audience gave waves of ovation, some even whistled.

Boboiboy turned sheepish, he bowed slightly to the crowd, "Thank you, thank you…" a hand then placed on his shoulder, it was Ms. Maya's.

"Now, with that out of the way, let's take a peek at your new dorm, eh leader?"

The giddiness in her voice made unnerve the two, "o-ok, please lead the way, miss" the capped boy said.

"Good, Now let's Blast off!" she cried as she dragged the two away, rushing to the dormitory.

Ozpin smirked at the sight, "It looks like things are shaping up to be an... interesting year." He muttered amidst the cheer of the crowd.

"Here's your room!" the blonde woman declared as the room's door slide opens.

The room before the two was fancy, yet lackluster. Four beds were present, there's bookshelf with books, and a window overlooking outside world.

"Aw, don't be shy! Have a closer look" The woman then pushes the two in, sending them flat on the floor. Ms. Maya entered the room and closed the door.

It was then a tingle rushes the two, a quite familiar feeling they unable to recall.

"you two showed quite performance, especially you, Boboiboy. Saving someone with your Light power, what a dazzling show of heroism! I was shaking on my boots, sweating from my armpits, my breath shallowed as moment passed!" she praised with dramatic gestures

Boboiboy was stunned by her revelation and… demeanor, "I uh… t-thank-" a finger pressed against his lips

"that's what Ms. Fullbright would say" she said with a wink. The woman let go of her finger and stood straight, straighter than she did before. soon the brightness in her face faltered, her eyes as cold as steel. "Me on the other hand"

'Ms. Fullbright's' body then distorted, like a video game character, her whole body become pixelated and staticky, soon the distortions fades and 'Ms. Maya Fullbright' was no more. She was replaced by another woman with long black hair with reddish tips, her previously giddy and bright face was replaced with serious and closed, her scientist coat was replaced by an alien looking suit of armor. Her posture became rigid and commanding, her eyes steel silver.

"You are a failure to Tapops' Spec Ops, using your Light power almost blew your cover, it was only stroke of luck that prevented Ozpin from sensing your power" she admonished, her tone cold and stern

Seeing who it was, the duo shoots up and immediately went for salute, "A-A-Admiral Summer!" they both squeaked

the woman—Admiral Summer, folded her hands to her back and walks around the boys, her steps full of authority, her eyes judgmental, "2 minutes, it took you 2 whole minutes just to show respect. Unbelievable, THIS is what 'heroes of Tapops' capable of?"

the two could only gulped down, Summer's heavy gaze crushed every word before it could even reach their throat. The Admiral's eyes lands on Boboiboy, the boy fought back an instinct to flinch, "pray tell, why you decide to compromise your first assignment? Lance Corporal Fang, what is my order last night!" she barked without moving her sight

"To finish the exam efficiently, avoid confrontation with Grimm, unless necessary!" Fang recounted

Summer nodded, "now, what is your excuse, Cadet?"

"Because they were in danger, Ma'am!" the answer came quick, "the faculty staff was far away from their location, and the danger was immediate, if they were to be left alone, they will sustain heavy injuries or worse!"

Summer lock her gaze on Boboiboy's, as if he was at the end of a rifle, he can't help but sweat. The gaze stayed for felt like an eternity before the admiral turns around, "since this is your first mission, and you were able to avoid detection, I'll let this slide"

The duo sighs in relief, "But, that doesn't mean you two off the hook." She stated, causing the two hold breathes once more, "I want your report on what you saw during exam; who, what, and where. Detail to every speck of dirt on their body and tear in their clothing"

The Admiral turns her back on the two, "I want them done by next morning" the very statement turns the two white as sheet. With another distortion, Admiral Summer was replaced by Maya Fullbright once more, "so, do your best you two! don't fail me now ~" she said chipperly before she left the room

A solid silence engulfed the room, drowning the duo with dread and terror. After a solid minute the two fell sprawled to the floor, "this is all your fault." Fang flatly said

"Uh…What an Awesome start…" Boboiboy said lifelessly

And thus, the Tapops duo started their Mission in Beacon Academy with writing a 120-page report about the exam.

Prologue – End

AN: I will rarely write anything on this note, but yeah, this is my first fic. sorry for any grammar mistakes, English isn't my first language. I hope you enjoyed it, have a nice day.

so yeah, I decide to not include team CRDL in this fic. because other than being Jaune's tool for Character development, they're as useful as cardboard cutout in a sport game during a pandemic. and yeah, Summer alive, why? who knows.
