[A/N: Its better finished than perfect, they say, so I decided to upload this chapter as it was. Also, while I've tried to give a comedic spin to a bunch of stuff, stuff like this is why I didn't chose the 'comedic' tag for this fanfic.]
Chapter 8
~ Sakura's POV ~
Ah~ that was so refreshing. Both Naofumi-san's trainwreck of ideas and feelings when he found out he was stepping into pedo land, and Ren-kun's reticent submission once it was clear there was no way he could run away from me. I'm looking forth to Naofumi-san finding out just how come Lin-chan got accepted in the Brotherhood of Heaven's Wing. I mean, it's right there on the label, you know?
Anyway, it bothers me a little to see the difference in treatment I get whenever I show up in the castle, compared to the way they treat Naofumi-san, but... well, I'm not going to complain if it helps me deal with those slavers even a little bit faster.
I easily secure the help of the library staff and sit down with a nervous-looking girl that will act as my teacher. Thanks goodness, their writing system is phonetic, which means that once I memorize the basic symbols, I should be able to read and write basically right away.(1)
Therefore, it was like sitting down for a primary school class where all I had to do was memorize the symbols. To be honest, its quite boring, but the bow doesn't come with a reading function or a text-to-speech function, so I have no choice.
[A Legendary Weapon is not a tool of convenience.]
Be quiet, you. You and your three siblings basically kidnapped four people and forced them into solving your problems with an one-sided, forcefully-enforced slave crest. Don't think I didn't draw parallels between the punishment slave crests deal and the way you handle 'Contract Violations' on a contract I don't remember ever agreeing to. You are basically interdimensional illegal slavers. I used to think it was a mistake that it was I who got summoned instead of Shirou, and then I thought it was because most of hubby's power comes from his Unlimited Blade Works and weapon projections, but now I realise that hubby would have just Rule Breaker'd himself free and left you behind as he solved this world's problems however he saw fit.
[…]
Yeah, that's what I thought.
After an entire evening of memorising and getting used to drawing the symbols for every sound, I'm finally reading a few words... I should just steal their books and ledger, then bring them over and have someone read them for me so I can write down the information in japanese, but that has too many ways to go wrong. If I ask for the help of someone involved and they find out, if they notice the absence of the book or lodger I took, if someone related finds out what I'm doing in the library every day... that's why, I have to learn the language myself.
Speaking of, Lin-chan is going to be teaching this world's Magic Alphabet to Naofumi-san, right? I should get somebody who is good with letters to help me, too! Ah, but where am I going to find a trustworthy person like that?
~O~
I'm not slacking off, alright? I'm not. Just because Don't be fooled just because I'm sitting on a reclining chair in the middle of nowhere. My shadow elementals are properly hunting in a growing spiral around me, and I'm working on my reading skills, alright?
What happened was, I realised there was no reason I couldn't multitask this. The elementals don't really need me to guide them step-by-step, and I don't need to cloister myself in the library if all I'm doing is practising my reading skills. That's why, I brought a comfortable chair, snacks, juice, and a blanket. By the way, yes, I can read in the dark. Matter of fact, I can see in absolute darkness, though its only in black and white and all I see are surfaces and would see a textured wallpaper as just a flat surface, so I can't read in utter dark. But shadowy? I can see in shadowy light as well as if it was noon in the middle of a grassland, and... hh. A shadow elemental is getting attacked.
I mean, that much should be obvious since I sent them to hunt for monsters, so obviously they are going to get attacked. What I meant is, it is taking damage... only spells or magic weapons should have a chance to deal actual damage to it, though? That's why they're basically like huge exp harvesters for me, combing through dungeons and monster-infested areas non-stop. No hostile magus, no magical weapons to hurt them.
~ An Honest Merchant's POV ~
"I thought you said you could take it!"
I cry while doing my best to sink further into the ground. The black thing's arm swings horizontally, moving through boxes, barrels and charts as if they weren't there to hit at the archer that was right by my side. The poor woman gurgles and her eyes roll into the back of her head as frost begins to form on her skin... she's alive. I think.
"I said this was a low-level area, I said it's a new type of monster, and I said its drops would probably fetch a high price! I never said I could take it, I don't even know what it is in the first place!"
"Then why did you shoot at it!?"
"Because you're the boss and you told me to!" ~ Is the pitiful excuse of the leader of the adventurers I hired to protect my goods during this trip. Is he stupid?
We run out from behind the crates and dash away to behind the nearby rocks while the rest of the adventurers continue to poke and slash at it. Honestly, I have absolutely zero clues as to whether it is even taking damage to begin with. The guy gets up and shoots another arrow at it, but just like all the others, it just sinks harmlessly into the inky blackness that is this thing's body.
"I have deciphered and understood the principles of magic, obey now the ancient pact, [First Bamboo Claw]!" ~ The spell causes a bamboo spear to shoot out towards the black thing at an odd angle, and for the first time, it actually appears to be hurt.
It simply 'flows' around and away of the impaling bamboo shot, though, and now its focusing on the wizard, its strange flat arms spreading wide to the sides as it leans forth, almost as if it wanted to smother the man.
"Azaliel, it's going to swipe at you from both sides get out of-" ~ Their leader cries out from next to m, but its much too late.
The thing swipes from both sides, slicing through the wizard without leaving an actual, visible wound. The man lets out a whimper and falls forth unto its knees, panting in pain as the thing straightens up to its full height and lifts its arms, clearly preparing a death blow, before tensing up, turning around, and beginning to walk away in a straight line. Trees, rocks and bushes do not impede its path.
Its not so much as if it was made from smoke, as it is as if the trees, rocks and bushes were made of smoke, instead. It just moves right past them and disappears into the night. (2)
"Marla!" ~ Now that the thing is gone, the adventurers' leader rushes to the side of the fallen archer, placing a knife in front of her lips, and letting out a huge sigh of relief as it gets moist with the woman's breath.
He pulls out a healing potion, and pours it down the woman's lips.
Cough!
...looks like she'll make it, thanks God.
"Ah~ What was that thing, really?"
"Beats me. Anyone seen one of those before?"
A chorus of negative replies. Half an hour later, we are still pulling ourselves together in the wake of that thing's attack, when a group of them simply waddle out of the dark towards us from every cardinal direction... we're dead, aren't we?
"First of all, you were the ones that attacked first." ~ A feminine voice called out ~ "Second, no, you're not going to die unless you do something monumentally stupid."
A young woman with violet hair, dressed in smoky black adventurer gear, is walking towards us ahead of one of the creatures.
"When I say monumentally stupid, I meant attacking me, you know?" ~ She stops and leans her head towards a side while holding her hands together in front of her. ~ "Now, I came by to see if anybody needed help, so, do you?"
~O~
"Thank you for your assistance, madam." ~ As it turns out, this beautiful young woman is Sakura Emiya, the Hero(ine?) of the Bow, and what we attacked was basically her monster pet.
After assisting with healing our adventurer escorts, she inquired about our destination, and offered to tag along for cheap, since she was interested in talking with our adventurer escorts about monster nests, dungeons, hunting areas, and other such things. I'm not really sure if she was asking, or just stating her intentions, but I got the feeling that just nodding and smiling was the big brain move here, so that's what I did.
"It isn't a problem, and please call me Sakura-san, or Emiya-san if you are feeling formal." ~ She moves and looks like a soft, gentle person, but I can't help but feel like she's playing some sort of prank on us.
"Ah, yes, Emiya-san."
"Now, if possible, I'd like to have a conversation with the magus in your escort. Would that be alright?"
"Magus...?"
"Ah, you'd call him a wizard, maybe?"
"Alright, please hold on a moment..."
I turn around and peek into the wagon through the curtain, finding the wizard is already asleep, resting on the wooden floor next to the archer...
"Hm... Emiya-san?"
"Yes~?" ~ For some reason, it looks like her smile grows warmer and warmer whenever I call her Emiya-san.
"I am afraid that mister Azaliel is already asleep. So if you wouldn't mind waiting...Emiya-san?"
"Ah, that should be alright." ~ It looked like she was going to say something and changed her mind when I added the 'Emiya-san' bit at the end. ~ "So, what sort of merchant are you?"
"A general merchant, really. I carry all sorts of goods, from sewing needles to glassware. Things that are a bit too specialised for an small town's blacksmith or craftsmen to make proficiently."
"That sounds kind of interesting, actually. Could I take a look at some of it? I've found that feeding all sort of things to my [Legendary Bow] unlocks all sorts of interesting functions and shapes on it. Of course, I'll pay for it, but bring out your cheapest goods since they're going to get absorbed anyway."
~ Sakura's POV ~
Knows magic, and its unlikely to be related to anyone with power. Magic tutor get! Also, since it was an interesting chance, I tried feeding all sorts of stuff to the bow, and unlocked bonuses to tailoring, cooking, cleaning, fletchery(3), and even blacksmithing, all of which are clearly a must for the wife of Shirou Emiya. Te~hee, my wife power just got a +5!
To be honest, I was surprised by how expensive needles are, but it makes sense if you consider how delicate and precise of a work it must be to make them thin and straight with medieval tools. Thankfully, things like thimbles and rolls of thread were also capable of unlocking sewing bonus-related bows, and much cheaper to buy in bulk, so I got a +9 bonus to my Craft [Tailor] skill! I have no idea if that's high or not, though...
Come think about it, I've been wearing the same clothes since I got here. I mean yes, I can make them perfectly clean using magecraft, but the wear and tear is going to start accumulating soon, thus its not a bad idea to make some extra pairs of... oooh, I need to make a cute french maid outfit set for Lin-chan, and another for Raphtalia-chan. Well, I don't know their measurements, so not right now.
As the days passed by, my cute elementals kept acting as exp vacuum cleaners as our caravan moved along. It sure is convenent that monsters don't have magic weapons. To be accurate, though, any monster who is even slightly resistant to weapons unless they're magic weapons, has natural weapons that count as magic weapons, anyway, so its not a perfect defence. They'd take damage from ghosts and other elementals just fine, for example.
I had Azaliel-san teach me the magic alphabet and write me a brief pamphlet with the symbols so I can keep working on memorising them along the way, so I spent the trip either learning the magic alphabet, practising my reading, or sewing new clothes for myself while earning exp along the way. It was a very productive trip.
By the time mr peddler's trip is at its middle point, I found myself in the creatively named Northern Town, a rather sleepy-looking place specialising in wine production and other artisan-quality foodstuff. Let's take the chance and try to unlock some [+X brewing] bonuses since that, too, sounds like a handy housework skill to have.
"Emiya-san, we'll stay here for a week, then head back to the capital, in case you want to come back with us."
"Thank you, but... Well, I'll consider it."
No need to tell him I can just teleport back to the castle town whenever I want. Actually, now that I've arrived here, I can also teleport to this town whenever I want, so I may go back this very night and start snooping through the slaver's documents. For now, let's go explore the town. I think I'll start with the local farmer's market.
~O~
As I wake up with the rusty taste of an iron bar pushing down against my tongue, I can't help but wonder if the other heroes may have had a valid point when they thought this world was a game. After all, this situation certainly feels like it came out of a poorly writ script. I mean I just woke up chained and gagged in somebody's dungeon. I am going to say they're in cahoots with the inn?
It doesn't really matters if they drugged my food, drink or whatever, right? These people just announced they wanted to make me disappear, so they can't complain if I make them disappear instead, right? And let's see... yup, they couldn't take the bow.
Shouldn't that have been a big warning sign? After all, the people in this country worship the heroes of the bow, spear and sword, so there's no way they don't know who I am... anyway, let's look around.
A cell in somebody's underground stone dungeon, I guess. Iron bars, and a disgustingly obvious collection of mean-spirited furniture and assorted torture tools, complete with a brazier and branding irons, how lovely.
I am surprised to find they didn't bother to apply a slave brand on me.
[Heroes are immune to slavery magic.]
Oh hey, bow-kun, it's nice to see you come with perks... is what you thought I'd say, didn't you? I'm sure that's because all the heroes have basically been summoned as slaves to this world and the [Legendary Weapons] double up as our slave brands on behalf of the world, and lesser magics can't overrule them, am I right?
[...]
Well, I was gagged and chained to the wall until I shadow-jumped out of the cell and... oh, I had a next-door neighbour. A girl with long green hair is curled up on top of a bed identical to the one I woke up in, chained to the wall and covered with bruises and welts. There's quite a few stains of blood and other stuff on the bed too. Hey, girl, is it okay if I get angry on your behalf, too? Or more like, hey girl, I'm getting angry on your behalf.
"Hey there."
~Rishia's POV~
"Hey there." ~ Somebody is calling to me, somebody who isn't master.
Looking up hurts. My everything hurts, but if I don't answer when talked to, I'll be punished by my slave brand, so I lift my head to look up at whoever is calling out to me.
"Y-yes...?" ~ I can see the silhouette of an obviously curvy young woman with violet hair. I can't see her face, but she's naked, same as I, so its fine to assume she's master's newest toy, right? Wait, why's she out of her cell? ~ "F-fueee~!?"(4)
"Alright, you seem healthy enough. I assume you have an slave brand?"
"Y-yes..."
"And if you are ordered to, you'll have no other choice but to attack me, right?"
"Y... yes."
"What is your name?"
"Rishia."
"Alright, Rishia, I will come back for you. Don't go anywhere."
She turned around, and it looked as if the shadows in the room were flowing upwards on her body, dressing her up in a tight dress that seemed made of vertical lenghts of cloth... she went out of sight and that's when the screaming began.
I could hear the rough voices of master's men call out the alert and be quickly silenced, spellcasting followed by pleading, screaming and wet noises. She came back after a while, carrying master's metallic key ring in her slim hands.
"Alright Rishia, I am going to let you out now."
"Eh?"
"All the bad people are gone, now, so I'm going to let you out." ~ She explained while fiddling with the keys until she found the right one and opened the door to come into the cell.
She opened my ankle cuff and helped me to my feet, and before I knew it, I too was dressed in a soft dress made from shadow stuff. It felt strange, as if it wasn't quite there, even as I could feel it between my body and hands.
"Everything is going to be alright, now." ~ She smiled softly, and I could tell she knew. Everything really was going to be fine now.
~ Naofumi's POV ~
Just as Lin-sa... I mean, Lin-chan said, Raphtalia-chan's appetite is an amazing thing. Well, she's basically growing a year a day, so she'd obviously need to take in huge amounts of nutrients... ah, she makes me think of those fantasy 'hobbit' people with their seven meals a day. Well, her case is perfectly understandable, though.
Also, is it me? I think my cooking skill is going up faster than my medicine-making skill, even though I'm making sure to keep our medicine bags as well-stocked as they can be.
Sure, I don't actually need the money anymore, but one's tastes and preferences are not something to simply discard on a whim, and I've always loved playing crafting and suppor- ...ah. That's why the shield summoned me, isn't it? I'm the type of guy that loves playing the support class in every game. Healer, buffer, craftsman, that's me. Yup.
"Cough, cough." ~ Ah, Raphtalia-chan is barely coughing anymore, but barely still counts.
"Raphtalia-chan, come here."
"Uu~uh~" ~ She looks... well, she looks like what she is, a child unhappy about having to drink sour-tasting medicine.
Yup, that's what she is, a child whose age just barely hits the double digits. This part is important, me! Don't forget about it, even if she looks like... even if she looks like...! Ugh, I swear I can almost hear Sakura and Ren's laughing at me while threatening to call for the police. The truth is, the tiny and sick, scruffy kid she used to be has almost completely disappeared now, replaced with a beautiful young lady in her early teens that oozes charm and cuddliness. I can almost see her on the backseat of a patrol car, patting the seat for mr. sranger to sit next to her and get taken straight to jail. She's still just a child, though.
"I wasn't coughing, Naofumi-sama!" ~ she pouts ~ "I mean, I just chocked a little while swallowing down, I'm not ill anymore...!"
"Yes, yes. Here, I tried my best at adding cherry taste to it, so be a good girl and open up. Aa~ah."
"Aa~ah..." ~ I spoon feed her medicine to her. "...it really tastes so much better now."
"If that's so, then why do you look like you bit a sour plum?"
"Because I really just choked a little bit. I wish it had tasted like this sooner. Its regretful."
Regretful, is it? Well, its true its been a few days now, and at one spoonful every hour on the hour at the start, before switching to two in the morning and two before bed, let's see... that would have been quite a bit of sour-tasting medicine, right? Speaking of which, she really has aged about a year each day, so this is what a well-fed, fourteen years old Raphtalia was meant to look like, right? I didn't actually affect her growth in a weird way, right?
[Slave Shield Series: Applies a large (60%) correction bonus to you slave's growth.]
Oi, oi, this isn't funny. Are you saying it really is my fault? This shitty shield, that's what its telling me, isn't it? And with this timing... I guess Sakura-san is correct, the more you interact with your [Legendary Weapon], the more it grows. Mine is growing into a sardonic asshole, though.
Well, whatever, thanks to it, Raphtalia has grown into a healthy child, so as her caretaker, I can't complain too much. She's even began helping Lin-chan with taking care of monsters on her own initiative, so it's not as if I should complain, but as a modern person, I can't help but worry about children exploitation, you know?
Then again, I'm fairly sure a legendary hero isn't meant to spend this long at the grill... well, ever since thinking about it, I can't really enjoy the locally prepared food. I mean, its a medieval fantasy world, what are the odds they know to wash their hands coming out of the toilet or before preparing food? Just eww.
"Lin-chan, Raphtalia-chan, lunch is ready!" ~ I finished dressed the dishes and called them over. As much as Lin-chan tried to act the grownup, she was very much a child. For evidence, please look towards exhibit A, two cute girls playing with a paper ball.
I need to make a chess set, or at least a checkers board. A shogi set would be way simpler than chess, but after feeding some wood scraps to the shield after we visited a fletcher to get Raphtalia a bow, I got some bonuses to woodwork that I've been wanting to try. Hah, I guess a dollhouse would be too much, right? So it'll be either checkers for the lowest possible effort, or chess.
Hm I have to admit, it is strangely sattisfying to see Raphtalia grow before my eyes. Problem is, she's been enthusiastic enough about helping as of late, it is rather obvious she doesn't wants us to send her away. I don't think its fair to endanger a child, though I can't say so without turning into a gold-class hypocrite after relying on Lin-chan so much.
"Naofumi-sama, it looks delish!" ~ Raphtalia's smile is dazzling. Is this that daughteru thing? Is this it?
"Naofumi-sama, thank you for the meal." ~ Lin-chan is eleven. Lin-chan is eleven. Lin-chan is eleven.
Do not consider the sweatbeads on her skin, do not think about her curves, lolita yes, do not touch! I'd point out that her armor seems designed to be showy and eye-catching, but I still remember her teacher was wearing the exact same 'set' and making it look like the grittest thing ever, so what's with this huge gap!?
"If you want more, we have enough for seconds. That goes double for Raphtalia-chan."
"Y-yes!"
I wonder if I could get a blacksmith to make a noodle machine if I made a proper set of schematics.
"Once we're done, we'll go level up in that dungeon Sakura-san mentioned."
By the way, I'm also adding Nutritional Supplements to Raphtalia-chan's food. Sure, I'm doing my best to provide as close to a balanced meal as possible, but there's no reason not to use what can be used. They nodded to my words while chewing on their food, and I couldn't help but to smile.
~ Rishia's POV ~
Still sore and more than a little confused, I followed my beautiful violet-haired, saviour upstairs while dressed in my own shadow. Though it had been given substance and texture, thought it felt soft and cool against my skin, I couldn't help but shiver as our bare feet reached the top of the stairs and I was able to gaze at... nothing. Of the lord's elegant manor, nothing remained.
It was different from the scorched remains a fire would have left, eerily distinct from the ruin a monster attack would have caused, and completely unlike the broken and pillaged remains of a bandit attack. There was simply nothing left. The floor was flat, the exquisitely lackered, engraved floorboards in place, yet everything above a very literal ground level was gone, as if someone had just laid down the foundations for a house, and decided to do the flooring before rising the walls.
"I couldn't find our clothes. To think they'd get rid of any evidence like that, how thorough of them." ~ My saviour sighed, and pulled me along gently, holding my fingers with her own, as if I was a fragile child. ~ "And nothing but men's clothes, too... at least you look nice in black. Let's go buy some clothes tomorrow, alright? Ah, my name is Emiya Sakura. Emiya is my husband's family name, and where I come from, its normal to take our husband's family name when we marry. Of course, that means my name is Sakura..."
She kept pulling me along as she talked, and we disappeared into the night. Much later, I heard that a tavern had also disappeared. Sakura-sama told me about her home, about her husband, about her life. I learnt that bad things happen to good people, and that it was our job to set things right. She told me about being the Hero(ine?) of the Bow, and about her plans for the illegal slaves industry in Melromarc. Before I knew it, she had pulled me into a hug as we sat looking up at the night sky, her body warm against my back as she held me. It was gradual enough it took me a while to notice she had healed my wounds, and by then it was morning.
We walked into town, and got new clothes.
~ Sakura's POV ~
I did my best to keep Rishie from going into shock, talking to her and, more importantly, making her talk. Her story was quite simple. The local lord was a powerful man, and fancied her. Since she was the daughter of a noble house, even if an impoverished one, he couldn't just take her by force, so she harassed her family's lands by every legal and illegal mean possible until her parents had no choice to but to give her up.
Honest,y, I thought they could have just given her some money and sent her away. That would have surely been a kinder fate than becoming somebody's toy but... well, they probably got some sort of compensation out of it. I won't pretend to understand how the minds of 'nobles' work.
It should be obvious, but she's beautiful enough to ignite men's desire to monopo- ...own and abuse. Her green eyes and green hair means she is color-coded, a jib my sister never gets tired of directing to Rider and myself. I guess I'll get her something yellow-green and yellow, maybe some white here and there. Nothing directly green, though.
I can't send her back home to the family that (most likely) sold her, so she's now officially my first party member, right? Ah, let's take the chance to heal her up. Having said that, my skill to heal is both great and useless at the same time. I mean, there's pretty much nothing I can't heal with enough time, but the problem is, the process is slow enough it is basically useless in battle.
Let's begin by stretching some very discreet shadows into... yup, tearing and bruising typical of sexual assault, some infections, an staggering amount of cuts and bruises. Let's begin with the infections and work our way down the priority list...

It's going to be a long night.

1 – A phonetic language is writes as it sounds, while japanese is pictographic. A pictographic language has specific symbols for specific words. For example, chinese has an specific symbol for 'horse', so you cannot write 'horse' unless you use that specific symbol. Japanese is even worse because it is a mix between phonetic and pictographic, which means you need to learn 71 symbols plus how they sometimes combine to make different words. In comparison, the english alphabet just has 26 letters, each has a different sound, and so once you memorise those symbols you can write in english (poorly, because english is a mess, but you can.).
2 – Sakura-chan's Shadow Elementals are scary, yo! Incorporeal Creatures – Some creatures are incorporeal by nature, while others (such as those that become ghosts) can acquire the incorporeal subtype. An incorporeal creature has no physical body. It can be harmed only by other incorporeal creatures, magic weapons or creatures that strike as magic weapons, and spells, spell-like abilities, or supernatural abilities. It has immunity to all nonmagical attack forms. Even when hit by spells, including touch spells or magic weapons, it has a 50% chance to ignore any damage from a corporeal source (except for positive energy, negative energy, force effects such as magic missile, or attacks made with ghost touch weapons). Non-damaging spell attacks affect incorporeal creatures normally unless they require corporeal targets to function (such as the spell implosion) or they create a corporeal effect that incorporeal creatures would normally ignore (such as a web or wall of stone spell). Although it is not a magical attack, a hit with holy water has a 50% chance of affecting an incorporeal undead creature.
An incorporeal creature's natural weapons affect both in incorporeal and corporeal targets, and pass through (ignore) corporeal natural armor, armor, and shields, although deflection bonuses and force effects (such as mage armor) work normally against it. Attacks made by an incorporeal creature with a nonmagical melee weapon have no effect on corporeal targets, and any melee attack an incorporeal creature makes with a magic weapon against a corporeal target has a 50% miss chance except for attacks it makes with a ghost touch weapon, which are made normally (no miss chance).
Any equipment worn or carried by an incorporeal creature is also incorporeal as long as it remains in the creature's possession. An object that the creature relinquishes loses its incorporeal quality (and the creature loses the ability to manipulate the object). If an incorporeal creature uses a thrown weapon or a ranged weapon, the projectile becomes corporeal as soon as it is fired and can affect a corporeal target normally (no miss chance). Magic items possessed by an incorporeal creature work normally with respect to their effects on the creature or another target. Similarly, spells cast by an incorporeal creature affect corporeal creatures normally.
An incorporeal creature has no natural armor bonus but has a deflection bonus equal to its Charisma bonus (always at least +1, even if the creature's Charisma score does not normally provide a bonus).
An incorporeal creature can enter or pass through solid object but must remain adjacent to the object's exterior, and so cannot pass entirely through an object whose space is larger than its own. It can sense the presence of creatures or objects a square adjacent to its current location, but enemies have total concealment from an incorporeal creature that is inside an object. In order to see clearly and attack normally, a incorporeal creature must emerge. An incorporeal creature inside an object has total cover, but when it attacks a creature outside the object it only has cover, so a creature outside with a readied action could strike at it as it attacks. An incorporeal creature cannot pass through a force effect.
Incorporeal creatures pass through and operate in water as easily as they do in air. Incorporeal creatures cannot fall or take falling damage. Incorporeal creature cannot make trip or grapple attacks against corporeal creatures, nor can they be tripped or grappled by such creatures. In fact, they cannot take any physical action that would move or manipulate a corporeal being or its equipment, nor are they subject to such actions. Incorporeal creatures have no weight and do not set off traps that are triggered by weight.
An incorporeal creature moves silently and cannot be heard with Listen checks if it doesn't wish to be. It has no Strength score, so its Dexterity modifier applies to both its melee attacks and its ranged attacks. Non-visual senses, such as scent and blindsight, are either ineffective or only partly effective with regard to incorporeal creatures. Incorporeal creatures have an innate sense of direction and can move at full speed even when they cannot see.
3 – That is, making bows and arrows.
4 – In the original WN and LN, Rishia's cry is writen as "feeee!?" but if I don't write it with a 'u' I feel like people will bring out torches and ptchforks.
