"Loving your family doesn't mean for it to be the rosy dream, it means having patience, giving love and choosing mercy."
Jr's Bar, 8:00pm
Yang smiled as she felt the wind through her hair. Her trusty motorcycle blazing through the uncrowded streets I'm the Botza district of Vale. Her scroll blinked in the holster that was on the steering handle. She was not too far from the club. Seeing a bright Neon sign she eased the breaks on the handlebars to come to a stop. She took off her helmet and the rest of her unkempt blond hair flowed. Catching the bouncer off guard as he saw her beauty. Her smile didn't drop as she started walking to the door.
"This Jr's?" She asked.
"Who's askin?"
Her smile turned into a smirk.
"I was told there were good drinks here."
He immediately went into business mode as he eyed her entire figure. Taking into account the clothes she's wearing, height, possible age, and her not so subtle eye twitch when he asked his question.
"Got an ID short stack? You look way too young to be drinking."
Her left eye twitched at the mention of being short. With a sigh she pulled out her scroll and it showed her Scroll ID of her driver's license. He knew it was too good to be true.
"Look little miss, this place ain't for yungins like you. Go back home kid."
She placed her unoccupied hand on her hip tilting it a little as she raised an eyebrow.
"Fine, I'm doing a report on contacts for Beacon Academy and one of the requirements was…"
"Bullshit! Look Miss. I'm being very polite here. Don't make me have to go hands on and you get arrested and your parents find out!"
The bouncer then moved a hand to his security belt for a pair of handcuffs.
"And to be quite honest I've been having a good night tonight, kid. We can do this the easy way or the hard way. Your pick."
Yang's eyes scanned him from top to bottom. He was an average build sporting a black suit and fedora. Complemented with a red tie and sunglasses.
"Ok."
Before the guard could react Yang punched him in the face knocking him out cold.
"That was easy, Adam should get better contacts with better security."
She proceeded to use the handcuffs meant for her on the guard, with a nod of acknowledgement of her work she pushed the double doors aside. The stench of sweat and alcohol assaulted her nose. Patrons danced to the horrible dubstep that a man in a bear mascot was jumping up and down to. She passed a man in a white coat, black pants, and a cane who kept his fedora low to hide his eyes and hair.
She raised an eyebrow for a second as he continued to the door. She thought about what he could be doing but shook her head to keep herself on track. When she reached a bar table she smiled at the tender on the other side.
"Strawberry Sunrise, no ice, oh with one of those cute umbrellas!"
She happily requested. A man in a suit looked at her with a curious eye.
"Aren't you a little young to be here kid?"
She put on her playful smirk as she brushed her blond locks away from her face.
"Is getting a fancy soda really illegal?"
"Minors are in my Club." He then turned to one of his guards. "Throw her out of here!"
He gets off the bar table as he cancels her order. She pouted and started to follow.
"Kid, get out of here or so help me… "
He couldn't speak anymore as she put on an innocent face while she was holding him by the balls. A photo was taken by her scroll and a flash of anger rose in his eyes.
"Listen here He Xing, I heard you run an underground info dealings with the Bounty Huntsman guild, so either give me what I want or this photo gets on the internet. You don't want your business to die do you?"
He gritted his teeth as she increased the pressure.
"You fucking bi...ch." he squeezed out.
The pressure was now starting to damage his Aura.
"Na, uh, ah, now then where is she!"
She demanded, holding her scroll closer to his face with a cut out picture of Raven. He squinted to get a better view of it due to not having his reading glasses and shook his head.
"No, I have never seen her in my life." He replied calmly.
His aura flashed.
"Oh really? Then how is the number one Bounty Huntsman able to find war and drug Lords In the middle of nowhere?"
"Look kid I have info on the happenings of Vale and other kingdoms but if she's a part of a bandit tribe or something you would need someone from the Mistral guild sense that's where those kinds of people hide!"
She squeezed harder only to find a gun pointed at her head. Her eyes moved to the left to see three men armed with common pistols with cross faces. She reluctantly let go as He Xing got a few feet away from her.
"Fucking bitch! What would have happened if the police got here!"
"Pretty sure you'd be the one in trouble for having a 'minor' touch your gross balls." She cheekily replied.
"JUST LEAVE!" He grunted, waving a hand for the three guards to start pushing Yang out to the doors.
She narrowed her eyes and twisted around the three to get to him.
"Oh please Jr don't be so dramatic, come one let's kiss and make up ok?"
He narrowed his eyes at her.
"Just no!"
When he walked past her he felt his arm get caught by something, but when he looked down it was Yang's gloved hand. Who then pulled him into a dance.
"Come on Jr, don't you want to dance with a cute girl like me?"
Jr however did not dance with her and was getting on his last nerve. He then grabbed her by the right arm and started dragging her to the door. Yang dug in her heels to the floor.
"I tried to be nice, kid, but you left me with no choice."
However, when he made her move for about ten feet he felt something metallic slam into his face knocking him to the ground. He looked up at her and a metallic glove had surrounded her left forearm. She then pulled it back ejecting a shotgun round and his eyes widened in terror. He then saw her right bracelet transform into a metallic glove identical to the one on her left arm. The three guards that were supposed to get her out of the bar opened fire. She then dodged the gun fire occasionally letting her gauntlets take some hits as they flashed with her aura. Guests scream in terror as they flee, when they get into the guards line of sight they stopped firing as she stays in Infront of the running patrons using them as a shield while running at the three of them.
She then uppercut the lead guard in the chin when he tried to use the but of his rifle. She then felt a bit of pain in her back as the second guard got a good strike on her. But he fell backwards as her aura flared and pushed him back. The third didn't get a chance to do anything as he was punched straight in the gut. Causing him to expend the oxygen in his lungs and fly through the air past two girls who were coming down from the second floor. They were about to engage Yang before a black hood went past them and did so himself.
Yang looked up from her latest victim to see said figure and put her hands in a boxing stance.
"Are you looking for trouble too?" Yang asked.
"Yang, either stop this or I'll take you in. Again."
The man pulled the hood off to reveal a mask that looked like it belonged to a light with a blue V shaped visor. Two pistols in holsters were slung around his chest with magazines around his abdomen. His armor looked like it was made of a grey leather with the only plate being silver shin guards and gauntlets. And lastly a black and gold colored hand cannon was on his left thigh.
"Yeah, not gonna happen!" Yang smirked.
She then let loose three fire dust slugs from her gauntlets, however to her shock, more like annoyance, the man just moved his chest side to side tilted his head to avoid the incoming shots. She grit her teeth and she ran towards him to deliver a downwards uppercut to his helmet. Only to feel her arm be quickly grabbed and herself flung over the man's body and slammed into the dance floor causing glass like shards to come off the floor and cracks began to form from where she landed.
He then tried to deliver a downwards uppercut, but she countered with a swift upwards axe kick to his helmet, dazing and knocking him back a foot before she hopped onto her feet.
"You're getting tired already old man? I can do this all day!" She quipped.
However he simply tossed a small device Infront of her. She picked up in confusion as to what it was before it blew up on her face. Dirtying her hair and causing her aura to flare. She still smiled with a cocky if not dismissive attitude towards the masked man.
"Jeez you couldn't hit the broad side of a with those pun…"
Yang noticed a strand of her hair falling to the ground and when she looked at a mirror and saw the state of her hair. Her bangs lowered to cover her eyes. Her form shook with unknown… nervousness? The man couldn't tell, but what he did know there was malice intent when her eyes turned red. This caused his breathing to quicken as she dumped the empty shell casings from her gauntlets and tossed fresh shotgun belts into the air for her to wrap the empty space with them to reload. Her hair began to become a blaze, to the masked man it only reminded him of a similar memory.
The world began to change as the club began to slowly look like a burning building facing a woman in red and black. She also had a Raven grim mask, standing before him. He was smaller than her and his quick even breathing turned into hyperventilating. As the women unsheathed a sword and rushed forward, however Yangs screaming snapped him out of his haze and quickly brought up his left gauntlet and fired two items, a plasma bolt, which was faster and a tranquilizer dart shortly after. The plasma burned away as it hit Yang only energizing her before she felt a prick on her leg and it suddenly fell asleep. Her aura shattered and her flaming hair went away. The drug acting fast numbed her senses as she fell down to the floor, sliding to his feet. Her head felt dizzy as her single red eye slowly changed back to its original cream hue. The last thing she felt was a boot to the face, knocking her out cold.
Miltia, and Melanie, looked on in stunned silence as police sirens were heard outside the bar. Jr let the officers in to see the damage done to the bar and the masked man cuffing the knocked out girl. He turned his head to the girls with a raised eyebrow. And his visor color changed to a grey hue like his armor.
"You could have helped you know." He stated lowly.
"Yeah but." Miltia started.
"You were just fine." Melanie finished.
His shoulders dropped as he sighed.
"Right…."
As the police started taking pictures and interviewing the patrons that stayed. After he was done giving his testimony his gaze went to a shriek.
"YANG!"
A girl in black Gothic like clothing with a corset and black boots ran up to the caution tape. Police were trying to hold her back as Yang was carried to a police car. He tilted his head and walked to the two officers trying to hold her back. When Ruby noticed him she stopped struggling with the officers and took a few steps back. Her breathing was a little uneven, her mouth had an odd frown but her arms looked like they were trembling.
"Are you her relative?" He asked.
His voice was smooth yet had a synth like sound underneath his words like he's masking his true voice. A bead of sweat fell from the left side of her face.
"Ye-...yes." she replied nervously.
He turned to the officers.
"Get her to the police station and get a report from her. I wanna know why she was here in the first place."
The policemen nodded as they took her away.
"Damn too late again wasn't I Duron."
The masked man turned his head to see another masked man but wearing what looked like a suit with black gloves with accents of red as a rose was on the back.
"You know them?" He asked.
"Yea, been searching for those two when I came home to find them not in their beds."
"Whatever excuse you have isn't gonna cut what happened here Adam, this is the third time she ransacked a Guild Info house." The man named Duron replied. "You're lucky I didn't just kill her for her crimes she committed in a matter of minutes."
Adam couldn't help but sweat drop at that.
"Right, we'll see you around. Partner."
Adam was about to walk away when Duron tapped his shoulder.
"If you don't have a ride I can take you."
Adam placed his hand on his chin to think of the offer.
"I would but I just parked."
"Oh, right, forgot, you just bought that beat up."
Adam just chuckles.
"Take me out to dinner first. But did you have to beat Yang into the ground? Again?"
"Better than being dead… my trigger finger is starting to slip."
"Maybe you should…"
"I'm fine, Adam." Duron stated bluntly.
"It happened again, didn't it?"
Duron turned away to walk to his car.
"Are you coming or not?"
Adam shook his head side to side.
"No, I'll just follow behind you."
Duron nodded as he got into his car and drove off, seeing Adam do the same and follow. After about a few minutes' drive he arrived at the police station. In which people started to look at him funny. Their blank stares turned to glares and even more so when Adam stood next to him. Adam could overhear some whisper about the "Freak and his pet" and just brushed it off as they entered the double doors to the police station.
There the girl he talked to earlier was writing down on a paper and clip board before returning it to the officer Infront of her who took it to behind the counter. However when she saw Adam a flurry of roses and mashed her body into Adam who stumbled a bit before laughing a little at the girls antics.
"Big Bro Addy!!!"
Adam smiled a little patting her head a few times. Duron just stood silently as he observed the brother sister duo. Something started to throb in pain so rather than disturb his friend and his younger sibling, he left them be in the lobby out of the police station.
"Hey Duron, wanna hang with my family on Baltom giving?" Adam asked.
He stopped in his tracks, his body was shaking a little to which Adam heard the low frequency clanking of his gauntlets and shin guards. He turned his head to Adam and shook his head side to side.
"N...no thanks...I'm good... I was planning on hanging out with Michael at the Guild house."
Adam picked up the unease in his voice, how raspy it got without the addition of alcohol. He only nodded.
"Ok well if you change your mind don't hesitate to come by ok?"
He nodded and continued his trek back to his beat up old car.
Adam sighed as Ruby just stared beyond the door watching the car drive off.
"How come he never visits? It's clear that he's a friend of yours and helped train Yang."
Adam looked back at his little sister.
"He's... complicated, come on, let's get your sister and go home."
She nodded and followed Adam through the doors after showing their scroll IDs to the front desk and filling out more paperwork and calling Shiro about Yang's imprisonment.
Yang however, was slowly regaining consciousness, she tried to move her arm only to find that her hand was restricted to about a few inches. She tried to move her head but couldn't feel anything. Then a door opened to the right of her bed. She tried to wriggle free of the cuffs but her body was still numb from the tranquilizer.
"Lost again Yang?" Adam stated.
She sighed trying to roll onto her side.
"Pay off your bail, but this time it's court in a week."
Ruby hid behind Adam peeking from his side.
"Hey sis? Are you doing ok?" She asked gently
Yang gave a louder sigh of annoyance.
"I guess not, sorry."
Her face became downtrodden which made Yang whence a bit.
"No, it's not you Ruby it's just… I fucked up. But Uncle Duron cheated."
Yang tried to give a fake laugh but Adam wasn't impressed at her acting.
"Really? Seemed to me he could have done worse. You should be glad he didn't."
Yang roller her eyes.
"I'm serious Yang."
"Yeah I know."
A doctor came in with an epi pen like device and was about to jab it into her arm when her eyes flared red.
"Yang!" Adam stated Sternly.
She stood still at his gaze long enough for the doc to jab her neck. She instantly got feeling back into her arms and legs. The doctor then proceeded to unlock the cuffs binding her to the hospital bed. Turning her body to sit up straight towards her younger sister and older brother and stretched. Ruby excitedly hugged her sister tightly.
"I was so worried when I didn't see you go to bed!" She admitted.
Yang just chuckles at Ruby's antics. As Adam cleared his throat.
"Come on girls, let's go home."
They all walked out of the police station and went into his car. However on the way home Adam noticed that Yang squirmed a bit.
"Everything ok Yang?" He asked.
"Shiros awake isn't he?"
"Called him when I got to the police station. So it's safe to say mom and dad are awake." He replied.
Yang hums as they board a boat that can carry cars to Patch. A relatively boring crossing of the Vale Bering strait. Yang's eyelids started to fall when she tried to keep herself awake.
"Guess the tranq still has some in me."
She rested her head against the door as they drove off the boat to the log cabin after a twenty minutes drive. Adam shook her shoulder to which Yang sucked in a breath as if she hadn't been breathing for a minute. The three got out of Adams' old car and walked to the front door. There was no sway in her hips or playfulness that she had displayed earlier. Her hands shook as she reached for the door knob only for the door to swing open and Summer pulled her into the house in a crushing bear hug.
"Yang I'm so glad you're alright!"
She brushed Yang's golden locks with her fingers gingerly while keeping Yang's head close to her chest. Yang sucked in a breath while wrapping her own arms around Summer.
"Yang."
And all hope had left her that instant. She looked up from Summers' hug and saw Shiro sitting in...her father's chair. His chair, like he owned the damn thing. What made it worse was that he was reading a newspaper which he promptly folded up and placed on the coffee table in the living room. He stood up and crossed his arms while his brow furrowed.
"Mind telling me why you were out late at this time of night?"
Yang's hands clenched into a fist.
"Looking for Info on my mother."
He sighs heavily.
"Yang, this behavior is unbecoming of you. I get you want to find Raven, but you're causing a lot of problems for this family. Unnecessary problems. Bills court dates, bale, where is this coming from."
Yang turned away.
"I don't want to talk about it."
Adam walked into the room.
"She was looking for Info on Raven again."
Shrios groaned even louder.
"I just...I want to know! Why did she leave me! Leave us!"
"Look Yang, I know it's hard to deal with it at this age. But Raven shouldn't be found. She's a dangerous individual and going after her will get you killed or worse. There's a reason why she left. But she told us to not tell you till you're old enough and right now I don't think you're ready. Emotionally anyway."
He then turned to Adam.
"What's the damage?"
"Rounding up, about another 20,000 Lien to add to the bills."
Yang let her fist go as her heart sank.
"I didn't… I…"
"Just stop," he stated. "Just go to your room."
Yang didn't hesitate to do so as she practically ran to it. Slamming the door shut as he sat down with his hands holding his face.
"Any more and we'll end up going broke. Missions aren't paying like they should and lawyers can't get that to change. Not to mention keeping Yang out of prison… what are we going to do?"
"We could work for A Ozbin again." Adam suggested.
"No, never again! Summer almost died and I'm not risking it."
"Well it's either get buried in debt or work at Beacon rather than a Huntsman. The offer still stands or so I remember."
Adam leaves him to contemplate the choice. With one final sigh he walks back to the master bedroom to sleep his night away.
