Rwby: MIB

Chap 1

'Another day, another mindwipe.' I thought while letting out a massive yawn. Stretching, I got up from my bed and looked around. Smiling, I gazed fondly upon my Beacon teammates as they continued to sleep peacefully. Turning to my night table, I saw that the clock read five-thirty. Meaning that if I didn't get up now, I would be late for work.

'Better get ready as I don't want to be stuck watching the worms again.' I thought as I got out of bed.

Grabbing some clothes, I went into the bathroom to take a quick shower. After a few minutes, I came back out in some casual clothes. Reaching under my bed, I grabbed a bag that had everything I needed for work. Slinging it over my shoulder, I went over to the door and exited the dorm. Looking around to make sure I was the only one in the halls, I began to make my way through the halls of Beacon. After a couple of minutes, I was outside of Beacon and breathing in the cold morning air of Vale. Breathing out, I proceeded to make my way over to the bullheads that would take me to Downtown Vale. Getting on the closest bullhead, I took my seat and got comfy as the bullhead slowly ascended into the air. Checking the time on my watch, I saw that it was only five forty-five.

"Got time for a quick nap." I said before leaning back into my seat and closing my eyes.

Half an Hour Later

'Get used to it or have a psychotic episode.' I thought as I was jolted out of my nap when the bullhead landed in Downtown Vale. 'Naps are truly underappreciated. That and coffee.'

Once all the other passengers got off the bullhead, I stood up and grabbed my bag. Getting off the bullhead, I exited the airstrip and headed towards the nearest stand that sells tabloid magazines. Picking up a copy of each, I paid the owner before putting the tabloids in my bags. Zipping up my bag, I moved close to the edge of the block before hailing a cab. Luckily, one was passing by at that exact moment. Getting in, I told the driver my destination. He nodded before driving towards the location.

"Eyes on the street, sir." I ordered when I noticed that his eyes moved from the front of his head to the back to stare at me. However, he did not listen, so I grabbed a badge from my bag and showed it. He visibly tensed before following my order.

"Calm down, sir. Keep your eyes on the road, and I will forget this incident." I told him.

"Thank you, sir." The driver said in relief as he visibly relaxed.

The tone of his voice making it sound like he was a fish out of water. Rolling my eyes, I put away my badge before grabbing some of the tabloids. Flipping through them, I checked to see if there were any reports on strange or unusual activity that needed MiB's immediate attention. While most would question the reliability of tabloids, it was the best and most accurate news reporter for the type of work I do. Luckily, it seemed that nothing needed our immediate attention, which is quite rare. Putting the tabloids away, I zipped up my bag before looking out the window as the driver took me to my workplace. After about twenty more minutes, we finally arrived.

"That will be twenty lien." The driver said as I got out of the cab.

"Here." I said as I paid him before giving him a warning. "And remember, keep your eyes on the road. If I hear a report about this, I will write you up."

"Will do, sir." He said nervously before driving away.

Sighing, I turned around and gazed upon the building I work at with fondness. Anyone who didn't work here would think it was just a regular building or possibly a government-owned building. In reality, this place served as one of the many headquarters for a secret organization that protects Remnant. Walking up to the building, I opened the front doors and saw the familiar sight of a small room, a single elevator, and the same guard reading the newspaper.

"Morning, Jaune." The guard said as he flipped the next page of his newspaper.

"Morning." I replied as I walked up the elevator and pressed the button with the doors opening a second later. Stepping in, I pressed the button that would take me to the correct floor.

'Welcome, Agent J.A.' The computer voice greeted as the elevator's doors opened.

Stepping out of the elevator, I looked around and smiled at all the people working hard to make sure the people of Remnant stayed protected. Turning to my right, I went down the stairs before heading towards the locker room. Heading to my locker, I opened it before taking out my work clothes and changing into them. Putting my casual clothes into my bag, I then put the bag into the locker. Looking at the mirror that is hanging on the locker door, I noticed my tie was crooked. Fixing it, I then turned back to the locker and opened a compartment. Reaching inside, I pulled out my favorite gun.

"The Noisy Cricket. Jackasses." I said, laughing before closing the locker door and locking it. Holstering it, I made sure I didn't forget anything before leaving the locker room.

'Agent J.A. Report to Zed's office.' The computer informed me. Nodding, I changed course to head to Zed's office. Getting there, I saw him sitting at his desk and doing an abnormally small amount of paperwork. Well, unusually small for our standards as an average amount of paperwork included about one hundred and seventy-five sheets of paperwork.

"Morning, Zed." I greeted as I sat down across from him. "What you got for me?"

"Not much, Jaune. I only need you to make some patrol routes and check up on Jeebs. Make sure he isn't violating his probation." He answered while never taking his eyes off his paperwork.

"Simple enough. Anything else?" I asked.

"Yes. Two things. One, are there any candidates at Beacon that seem like they would make good agents?" He asked.

"Not sure, Zed. Maybe, one or two students might make suitable candidates. Still too early to confidently say. What else?" I answered.

"Yes. I got a few new cadets coming in later today. You may or may not be getting one assigned to you. We still have to see." He answered.

"Going to be a bit hard to train a new cadet while also keeping up my cover at Beacon." I told him.

"Yet, you still managed to juggle far more numerous tasks at once. I'm sure you'll find a way. Not to mention, you did not become one of the best agents MiB ever had without good reason." He reminded me with a rare smirk.

"Alright. I'll find a way if I get assigned a cadet. Anyway, I'll be back later." I said while getting up from my chair. He nodded before returning to his paperwork.

Leaving his office, I made my way back to the elevator. Stepping in and pressing the button, I waited for the doors to close. A few seconds later, they closed before taking me back up to the floor beneath us. Stepping out, I went over to the nearby desk and asked the agent stationed there for my car keys. He nodded before standing up and heading to the back room before coming back a second later with the correct keys. Grabbing the keys, I nodded my thanks before heading to my car; a modified Lexus RC F. The modified referring to the numerous additions courtesy of MiB. Getting in, I turned on the car and smiled as the engine roar to life.

"Time to get to work." I said as I drove to the exit.

Once outside, I pulled up my assigned patrol routes. Only to groan in annoyance when I saw that I had to drive through the most densely packed areas of Vale. It took hours to get through one of those areas. And since I couldn't press the red button, it just made it worse. At the very least, though, I did download some music onto my scroll to make the time go by faster. Taking out my scroll, I activated the Bluetooth so it would connect to my car's radio.

Woo

Here come the Men In Black

It's the MIB's, uh, here come the MIB's

Here come the Men In Black

(Men In Black)

They won't let you remember

Nah, nah, nah

'And they said it wouldn't be a hit with the agents.' I thought as the song played.

Twelve Hours Later

'Damn traffic.' I thought as I parked in front of Jeeb's store. 'Need some coffee right about now.'

Sighing, I got out of my car and closed the door. Feeling my scroll vibrate, I took it out and saw that I received roughly fifty texts in approximately ten seconds. Opening them, I noticed that all of the messages came from my team and Team Rwby. Rubbing my head in irritation, mainly because of the long day, I quickly replied to them before closing my scroll and putting it away. Walking up to the door of Jeeb's place, I entered and saw him examining some fine-looking jewelry.

"Hey, Jeebs." I greeted him as I moved to stand across from him.

"Good to see you, Jaune. Oh, before you say anything to J, I paid for these guys and got receipts right here." He answered before quickly pulling out some receipts.

"Relax, Jeebs. Only here to see if you are following your probation conditions." I assured him.

"No need to worry then. Been following them without question." He answered.

"Show me your inventory." I ordered.

"All right." He said, annoyed, before pressing a button behind the desk. Hearing a hissing sound coming from my left, I turned to see all the weapons he had in stock reveal themselves.

"Wait right there." I told him before going over to inspect the weapons.

Surprisingly, there we no defects on any of the guns. However, that did not mean they were sold on the black market or stolen. Taking out my scroll, I sent a request to MiB headquarters for any information on black market weapons they contained. After a moment, they sent back the information I requested. Skimming through it, it seemed that Jeebs was following the orders of his probation for once.

"All right, Jeebs. You're in the clear. Keep up the good work, and your probation might end early." I told him while putting my scroll away.

"That's good to hear." He grumbled before pressing the button so the guns would become hidden again.

"Have a good night Jeebs." I said before exiting the store. Getting into my car, I turned it on before driving towards the nearest coffee shop.

'Incoming call from Agent Zed.' The dashboard computer told me.

'Great.' I thought before answering the call. "Agent J.A. here."

'Just calling in to check how everything is going.' Zed answered.

"Everything is going fine. The patrol was hell, but everything was in order. I just finished with Jeebs." I answered.

'Did you shoot his head off?' Agent J suddenly asked from the background.

'Is he following the conditions of his probation?'Agent K asked.

"Hey, K. J. No, I didn't shoot his head off. And as for his probation, it seems for once; he is following them." I answered.

'That's a surprise. Well, aside from the call to check up on you, I only wanted to remind you that we have a joint patrol tomorrow.' K told me.

"Right. I have that marked down. Anything else?" I asked.

'Yeah. Bring us some coffee while you are at it. We could all use a pick me up right about now.' J answered.

"Will do. Be back at headquarters in about half an hour." I said, smiling before cutting off the call. Seeing the coffee shop coming up, I pulled into the parking lot before getting out of my car and heading in to get our coffee.

Half an Hour Later

"All right. After compiling all the reports, it seems for once in this organization's long history; we can finally take it easy for the moment." Zed told us while drinking his coffee.

"That's good to hear." I said while taking a sip of my iced coffee.

"What about the incoming cadets?" K asked.

"How many are coming?" J added.

"Soon, they will be here. As for how many, there will be about twenty cadets. We still need to figure out who will be assigned one, though." Zed answered.

"Well, in the meantime, we can get some rest or hit the gym." J said, getting up.

"All right. Be prepared, you three, in case anything comes us." Zed told us before going over to his desk to finish his paperwork, hopefully. Nodding, we got up before heading to the firing range to practice our aim.

'Knowing my luck, though, I will most likely get a cadet.' I thought as I took out the noisy cricket before adjusting its settings and beginning to practice my aim with it. 'Hopefully, they can get used to the life of being part of The Men in Black.'

Note:

Just something I wanted to do for a while.

Who should be the cadet as Jaune will be assigned one?

The title is a work in progress.
