A/N: This story has been in my head for literal months. It took me a similar number of months to finish it despite its length due to the research and numbers I had to crunch( literally had a calculator in one hand at various points of planning.) I've always entertained the thought of a Royal Arc Family story but rarely saw any on the site and Ao3 is annoying as all hell to look thru due to the amount of smut on it. I'm gonna force myself to due update at least once every two weeks so I hope y'all enjoy it.

It had been going on like this for months now. Wake up, prepare, attend classes with teammates, occasionally participate in combat classes and lose each time. For one Jaune Arc, this ongoing process was one he had grown rapidly tired of. Hate wasn't a word he freely threw around, for him that word was to be reserved and only used on those who truly deserved it, his "school life" on the other hand, yeah he pretty much despised it.

"You fared well in today's training Jaune, you're improving so fast." and then there was his partner the Mistrailian Champion Pyrrha Nikkos. She was one of the few things that made the farce manageable. "Don't worry, by the time the festival rolls around you'll be able to face your opponents and achieve victory." Great, her celebrity persona is slipping through again.

Being a student at Beacon was certainly an experience, despite what his partner believed he didn't want to be in here, it was something of an obligation. Being constantly surrounded by unfamiliar faces was an experience he'd never get used to. And then there were the classes, history with Oobleck which was a subject he actually enjoyed, Grimm studies with Port which for the most part acted as both a free period and an exercise in looking for lessons in the stories. The class he despised the most though was combat class which was taught by Glynda Goodwitch. He had nothing against the teacher or the lessons she taught per se, had he been the average student the class may have been fun and exciting, his hatred was reserved for something else.

You see when he was told to by Ozpin to Beacon, he was advised (read ordered) to hold back as much as he could, establish a persona and wear it like a mask. The problem was that the mask he wore required him to act like a bumbling happy-go-lucky fool with no combat history (he always scoffed internally whenever he remembered the backstory he gave his partner), the mask also required him to lose whenever he participated in combat class.

This was the reason why Goodwitch's class was his least favorite of the bunch.

"Let's end training here today Jaune" he feigned a tired nod and started picking up his training equipment. As he was about to walk towards the rooftop door a foreboding presence washed over him causing a massive headache that caused him to stumble over.

'What was that?' he heard his partner running up beside him

"Jaune!" She stopped in front of him while looking at him with concern. "Are you okay?" He was about to nod when another headache hit him making him hold back a groan.

"Yeah, I think you hit me a bit hard" something was wrong, he could feel it. It took all he had not to visibly show the concern he was experiencing to his partner. Various images flashed through his mind in an instant; a burning village, a bleeding man slumped on a tree, and a mysterious figure walking towards him.

The Next Day Combat Arena

Contrary to what Jaune thought, Pyrrha had seen the look on Jaune's face the previous day and it had kept her up at night. To her, Jaune Arc was an interesting case, at the age of 17 came to Beacon (a notoriously prestigious combat school) with no aura and training while claiming to be from a highly distinguished combat family. Some parts of that story simply add up to the redhead. Of course, she didn't bring up the story to her team, her partner had trusted her with his story.

"Hey, Pyrrha!" Her thoughts were interrupted by her fellow redhead from her sister's team. She turned in the direction of the voice to see the members of team RWBY sit beside her. "Ready for today's class"

"Hello Ruby" she had a sort of friendly relationship with team RWBY, Ruby was friends with Jaune and therefore her, Yang was someone who treated her like a normal person which instantly put her in her good books, Weiss still treated her like the Invincible Girl but it was getting better and Blake was well… Blake. "I am ready for today's class". Ruby nodded at her answer and looked behind her with a confused expression.

"Where's Jaune?"

"I told him to stay in the rooms since he wasn't feeling too well"

"What happened"

"A headache I think" he never really told her what happened to him. She only hoped it wasn't a repeat of the transcript situation.

"Hopefully he gets better." She saw their teacher Miss Goodwitch walk onto the combat stage to begin classes.

"Attention students!" said the teacher. "As usual we will begin the class with a fight between two randomly selected students." She began to type on her tablet. "Could Sky Lark and Jaune Arc go retrieve their weapons and come to the stage." She could see her CDRL snickering from their seats. She raised her hand to grab the teacher's attention.

"Excuse me Miss Goodwitch, Jaune won't be able to make it to class today."

"And why is that Miss Nikos?" Her answer was interrupted by Cardin "Jauney-boy is probably scared of getting his ass kicked." His teammates laughed in agreement which only served to anger the redhead.

"No, he's sick" Cardin only snickered.

"Sure he is."

"ENOUGH!" shouted Glynda, her anger at the commotion apparent on her face. She let out a breath to calm herself down. "Since mister Arc won't be here, he shall be replaced by-" and then portion the ceiling broke apart as a figure fell through the smoke and landed on the arena. Confused students watched as Glynda jumped a few steps back and entered a combat stance with her crop at the ready. The dust (not that kind) slowly cleared away revealing the supposedly sick student Jaune Arc on one knee using a sword-bearing resemblance to Crocea Mors in his hand(Suck at descriptions, link to the art I made in my bio) to support himself while he caught his breath. Another figure fell through the same hole in the ceiling but it was its appearance that shocked the audience. It resembled an Alpha Beowolf with the exception being that it had a leaner body cornered head to toe in bony armor and claws far longer and sharper than the original. The Grimm took slow steps towards Jaune all the while letting out almost silent growls. It was its next action however that truly shocked the audience.

"Kill" the deep and monstrous voice came from the creature's mouth.

Over in the stands Nora looked at the stage with an uncharacteristic look of shock and worry on her face.

"Ren," she said quietly. "Did that Grimm just-"

"Talk" her partner finished. "Yes Nora, I think it did" Weiss turned over to them.

"But that's impossible," said Weiss. "Grimm don't-"

"Must Kill…" the beast raised its claws to point at Jaune. " Must Kill PRINCE!" The Grimm lunged towards Jaune and swung its claws at him only for him to roll out of the way and slash its back with his sword. The cut barely fazed it and it continued its assault with Jaune expertly weaving around its swings and parrying the ones he couldn't. "KILL!" During its assault, its hand slammed into Jaune's chest causing him to slide backward while he drove his sword into the ground to stop his momentum. Using Jaune's dazed state to its advantage, the Grimm lunged at him aiming to capitalize on the moment.

"Jaune!" Ruby screamed in panic. She was about to use her semblance to join the fight when Jaune's body disappeared in a burst of dark blue particles and streaks and reappeared a few feet to the right. "What the?" She turned to the members of JNPR. "Was that Jaune's semblance?" Pyrrha could only look at the fight with mixed emotions. It was Ren that answered her question.

"No….. yes…...maybe? We don't exactly know what his semblance is." he turned his attention back to the fight. "But it's clear that the Jaune we know is a lie"

Back to the fight

Jaune barely dodged another swipe from the Grimm's hand and jumped back a few feet to catch his breath. Letting out a breath he stretched out his empty left hand and in a burst of light blue particles, a dagger appeared in his hand. Without hesitation, he threw it to the right of the Grimm's head and teleported to its location when it was behind it with a massive great hammer with a lion emblem on the side in his hands, before the Grimm could react the hammer slammed the Grimm on its back sending it flying with ghostly swords following behind and impaling it before disappearing in swirls of glowing blue smoke. As soon as his feet landed on the floor he summoned a bow and an arrow nocking it and firing a shot at the head of Grimm, who held an arm up to defend itself.

When the arrow bounced off the bone amour Jaune teleported to its location with a massive greatsword in place of the hammer and slashed at the Grimm thrice while dodging the swipes that came from it. After the third swing, he jumped back to gain some distance with more ghost swords flying towards the Grimm to cover him and summoned a staff that looked more like a scepter. While the Grimm was recovering from the previous assault, he twirled the weapon expertly to confuse the beast's eyes and in it with a series of precise strikes to its joints making it falter under his blows. A frantic swipe from it made him block the appendage with the force of the swing pushing him backward. Not wanting to let it recuperate he switched out the scepter for a pair of silver daggers and blitzed towards the Grimm in a burst of speed and blue streaked particles. Arriving behind it, he slashed the back of its knees causing it to kneel.

'It's over in his rush to end the fight, he never noticed the tail coming towards him until it was too late. The force from the attack launched him off the area floor and into the stands coincidentally where his team watched. The impact from the collision with the stand dislocated his arm and caused him to let out a cry of pain which released his teammates from their frozen state.

"JAUNE!" shouted his partner as she ran up to him and gently held him up. lunged at their location only to be stopped by a barrier (the ones used by King Regis in Kingsglaive) conjured from Jaune who held his uninjured hand up. He pointed to fingers at the ground where the beast stood and brought them up "Are you o-" her question was interrupted by a roar from the Grimm which caused bluish silver chains to erupt from the ground and wrap around it halting its movements. Jaune tried to stand up but the pain from his arm made him grunt in pain and collapse on the floor once more, his face pale from pain. With a greater effort he forced himself to stand and wobbled over to a nearby wall. Gritting his teeth he slammed his dislocated shoulder into it putting back in place with a loud crack that caused those nearby to wince. Turning his attention back to the Grimm, he struggled and slowly succeed to free itself from the chains he had placed and came to a decision.

"Jaune what's going on?" His partner asked with clear worry on her face. "What is that thing, what's with those weapons is that your semblance?" He placed his hand on her shoulder to reassure her.

"I'll explain later." He walked past her and jumped over the railing and back into the ring. "This farce has gone on long enough" he raised his right arm, a ring (the ring of Lucii) appearing on his ring finger. "I Jaune Arc call upon the kings of the past to aid me in battle". All around him fourteen magic circles appeared and out of them walked fourteen dark blue ghostly apparitions wearing armor with each one holding a weapon Jaune had used in his previous fight. Three of the apparitions possessed notable animal features that would identify them as Faunus with the exception being the fact that they had more than one feature. One of the more armored ghosts walked to the front and slammed his greatsword into the ground with the others following in his footsteps. The tips of Jaune's blonde hair turned silver along with the aura that surrounded him. "Let us end this beast." All at once, they charged towards the Grimm which had just freed itself. Jaune who was the closest swung a claymore at its midsection but the beast jumped backward to dodge it. Its plan backfired as a ghost which possessed the most armor of the fourteen appeared behind it and slammed an 8-foot tall great hammer into its back launching it towards Jaune who switched out his claymore for a pair of daggers and slashed the beast multiple times. The Grimm attempted to hit him but he jumped backward and was replaced by the spear-wielding ghost who stabbed it in the side.

The battle (if you could call it that, it was more of a beatdown) was a shock to Pyrrha, she had assumed that Jaune was less than faithful about his fighting abilities but she would have never thought that he would be this strong. Any previous thoughts of her being the strongest first year were immediately dashed away at the sight before her. She knew that even if he didn't summon those ghosts the fight with her partner would be tough. As much his lies saddened her, she couldn't help the feeling of excitement that ran through her at the prospect of a real challenge.

Beside her Ren and Nora stared at the fight with shocked looks on their faces. The source of their shock wasn't due to their leader's strength although that did play a small part. Their shocked expressions were due to a different reason. Nora looked at her partner and tugged on his sleeve to get his attention.

"Renny, look at Fearless Leader." she point at Jaune who stood shoulder to shoulder with a ghost, both of them holding bows as they released volleys of arrows to distract the Grimm while the others struck it at the same time. "He looks just like him" Ren stared at his team leader in silence, his gaze moving from him to the blade he summoned to strike the Grimm.

"Yeah….. He does"

Back with the fight

A specter holding an open book in one hand pointed his empty hand at the Grimm, more chains burst from the ground and wrapped around it once again. It struggled to break its binds but Jaune along with all the specters raised their hands summoning dozens of weapons which proceeded to fly towards it and impale it halting any further movement.

Jaune stepped forward and raised his ring hand towards the monster. Bluish silver cracks began to form on the hand and spread around it before stopping at his elbow, on his face, his eyes glowed with similar cracks forming around them as well.

"Alterna" the phrase was uttered calmly yet with a tone that brought power. A large glyph that shared the same color as the cracks on his skin appeared underneath it. "Be banished from this plane of existence"

Black cracks appeared in the air around the monster before shattering to reveal a small ball-sized hole that sucked everything in its vicinity into it including the light around it. The Grimm tried to use its claws to anchor itself to the ground but a blast of light from the book-holding specter sent it flying towards the hole where it was stretched and sucked into it. Jaune let out a heavy breath as the light faded from his eyes. He only managed to save himself from falling by using a summoned sword as a crutch.

"Never return." All around him the specters all performed a knight's bow they slowly faded out of existence. "Thanks for the assistance." He heard footsteps approaching but felt his energy fading fast. As the sword disappeared and he fell the last thing he saw as he lost consciousness were concerned emerald eyes and red hair. "Pyr…"

At the stands.

"Cinder, what are we going to do," a dark-skinned green-haired teen asked her leader. "This wasn't accounted for." Their leader only frowned in response

"Indeed it wasn't Emerald. Call Salem, she needs to know that new pieces might have joined the board."
