Chapter One

"I dont blush"

It was her first day at the DA's office, just a little under two weeks ago, Harvey accepted her offer to work at his desk. It has been a long day, he and Donna are practically the only ones left in the building. He bids farewell to the man on the phone and walks over to her desk.

"Donna, do you remember Jenny from-"

"From Rand Kaldor Zane?" She answers him while maintaining her focus on the computer screen.

"What? No. That Jenny gives me the creeps, I'm talking about Jenny from-"

Donna gasps then stops typing. "Jenny from the Mayor's office?"

"Yes."

"Why? Will we be working with them?"

"Well, not exactly-"

"Oh my god," She leans back on her seat and turns to face him, "You're gonna ask her out."

"Would you please let me finish my sentences?"

"I knew it."

His brows furrow, "Why are you making that face?"

"I'm not making any face, Harvey, this is my normal face. But if you came over here to ask me to ask her secretary if she's free tomorrow night, you wasted your energy." She gives him a little smile.

He takes one step closer to her, "Let's make one thing clear: I don't need you to set up a date for me."

"How about we make two things clear? I'm not paid to set up your dates for you and you're a pussy."

"Maybe you've forgotten the real reason you're getting paid?"

Donna rolls her eyes, "I serve at the pleasure of my boss." She plays with her fingers.

"Exactly," he pauses, "So, will you do it?"

She lifts her head to meet his gaze. "You're pretty… and smart", She smiles. "So pretty… So smart."

Harvey exhales through his nose and clenches his fist in response to her sarcasm.

"So, that's a no?"

"On all grounds possible, Mr. Specter."

He chuckles a little then shakes his head, "You know, I'm not crazy about your attitude."

"But you will be."

"I assure you, I won't."

"Okay then." She winks then darts her eyes away from him, going back to typing out pending case briefs.

Harvey adjusts his tie, dumbfounded and not in the mood to play her little game. He places both palms on her desk and leans into her, she gives him a side eye.

He whispers, voice low. "I just want to know who you think you are to say no to your-"

He gets cut off by her hitting the enter key as hard as she can. The sound echoes through the empty office. She turns her head and leans into him as well. Their faces are just mere inches apart.

"I'm Donna."

She says that firmly, her eyes hold his gaze. The air in the room is warm, they both hear the pounding on their chests. He expects her to stand down but she holds her ground, not flinching, not breaking a single sweat.

After a few more seconds he yields but doesn't voice out his defeat. He just simply nods then stands back, hands going into his pockets.

"You know you just called me pretty, right?"

"Did it make you blush?" She asks with nothing but dullness in her voice.

"I don't blush, Donna. You're not as cute as you think you are."

She shrugs, "Made you blush anyway."

He scoffs then walks over to his office and pours himself a drink. He sees her switching her computer off and gathering her things from his window. He checks the time on his watch and sees it's half past 10, he should probably call it a day too.

But he doesn't. He stays there until midnight, replaying their last conversation in his head.

This was when Harvey knew he had met his match. Donna, on the other hand, had known all this time.

His cheeks start to heat up but decides to blame it on the scotch.
