Hearing Videl whisper her consent, feeling her breath brush his lips, Gohan thought his heart was going to burst in anticipation. He placed a trembling hand on the small of her back to pull her closer to him, and the other one, still on her cheek, moved slightly to angle her head better. Videl shifted her hands from his shoulders to wrap her arms around his neck, guiding him to her.
And then he pressed his lips on hers. The kiss was gentle, shy, tentative – and yet the simple touch felt like the clash of two tectonic plates, provoking a high magnitude earthquake that started on his mouth and rippled over his entire being. The sensation was so intense that Gohan thought he was going to faint. And this, only from the light touch of her lips…
His head was in a haze when he pulled back a few moments later. Their faces were inches apart. His chest was heaving, more from the whirlwind of emotions inside of him than from actually being out of breath. He moved his hand from her cheek to the back of her neck, tangling his fingers in her humid locks, and leaned his forehead against hers. A soft sigh slipped out of his parted lips.
They didn't speak, didn't pull away, didn't even open their eyes. They simply basked in the afterglow of their first kiss, enjoying the loving embrace, relishing this peaceful moment. The world around them was slowly fading; nothing outside of this moment existed, nothing else mattered. Only Videl, with him, right here, in his arms. She was everything.
Gohan couldn't describe the wave of pure bliss that washed over him then. He felt so content and peaceful. He couldn't remember ever being this happy.
It was hard to believe they only met two days ago. How could it be possible to like someone so much after such a short time?
Videl started pulling back. Gohan opened his eyes and felt his heartbeat pick up as he gazed at her lovely face. He grazed her temple with his fingers, slowly inching down her cheek, tracing the line of her jaw.
He felt breathless. How could she be so beautiful? Her big blue eyes, her fair, flawless skin, her silky, raven hair, the contour of her face, her cute nose, her cherry, plump lips… Everything about her was so exquisite – just looking at her was knocking the air right out of his lungs.
She watched him wordlessly, her face flushed, her chest heaving. His thumb brushed her lips; he couldn't tear his gaze away from them. His throat tightened, his breathing deepened, his heart was pounding like crazy. Blood rushed to his head, making him feel dizzy.
He wanted to kiss her again.
Videl looked away and took a step back, clearing her throat. She tucked a few strands behind her ear. Her face was still bright red.
"We, um, we should probably get going if we want to catch a movie…" she mumbled without looking at him.
His expression softened as he gazed at her. Gohan wasn't sure why he didn't feel as awkward as Videl obviously did. Maybe he was still high from sharing his first kiss with the girl he liked. At that moment, he just felt happy. Absurdly happy. That feeling was trumping everything else.
He swooped in and took Videl's small, delicate hand in his. His heart glowed and he felt like swooning as the blush on her face deepened. She was absolutely adorable. He was so incredibly lucky to be here with her.
With his other hand, he reached up and brushed her bangs away. The light touch drew her magnificent blue eyes to him. Gohan felt breathless.
"In… In a minute."
Tugging at her hand, he pulled her to him and wrapped his arms around her waist, gazing into her deep blue eyes, feeling himself getting lost in them. His heart pounded hard. Goodness, he liked her so much.
Her lovely blush still grazing her cheeks, Videl gave a sheepish smile. Gohan chuckled nervously.
"I, uh, I wanted to hold you for a bit. Is that okay?"
In response, Videl moved her arms around his back and let her cheek rest against his torso, snuggling up to him.
"It's more than okay."
He tightened his arms around her small, soft body, and leaned in to nuzzle her neck, his eyes sliding shut. He breathed in deeply. The smell of her shampoo mixed with her natural scent was so darn addictive.
They didn't know how long they stayed like this, but neither of them was willing to pull away from the lovely embrace. Holding Videl so close like this, it just felt so right. It felt like she belonged right here, with him, and nowhere else. And these sensations, the feel of her body, the sound of her breathing, the fruity scent her hair was giving off… It was all so intoxicating.
A faint melodic ringtone interrupted the magical moment, and Gohan's brow creased slightly as Videl started pulling away so she could go answer the phone.
She gave him a timid smile as she detached herself from him. "Sorry. Be right back."
Videl slipped through the archway to get her phone, which she must have left in the bathroom, or maybe in her bedroom. Gohan ran his hand through his hair, letting out a sigh.
His gaze shifted sideways as the red on his face deepened. Now that he was alone with his thoughts, the weight of what just occurred between Videl and him was hitting him hard. He coughed into his fist.
Gohan heard a surprised gasp coming from the other room. He tilted his head to the side with a slight frown, wondering what kind of news Videl just got to make her let out such an exclamation.
He decided to settle on the couch again while he waited for his girlfriend to be done with her phone call. He scratched his neck, his eyes darting around, trying to distract himself.
But he couldn't stop thinking about their first kiss. It had been innocent, chaste, even, and yet it had felt so overwhelming, so… devastating. With the tip of his fingers, Gohan grazed his lips. They were still tingling. He swallowed hard. His eyes slid shut as he couldn't stop himself from replaying that amazing kiss in his head. Goodness, how could it feel so darn good? How could such a simple touch ignite an explosion that powerful?
Gohan looked to the side and scratched his hair, his face burning hotter than ever. There… There was more to kissing than just touching lips though, wasn't there? Did that mean it could potentially feel even more intense? That was hard to believe.
He wasn't sure how exactly, but it was supposed to involve tongues, from what he knew. It was called… French kissing, right? Gohan was only familiar with the term from books and the occasional movie or TV series he would watch at Bulma's with her family. They rarely watched the television at home, and when they did it was never for entertainment purposes.
His face flared up at the thought of putting his tongue in Videl's mouth. Was that really what he was supposed to do? It sounded kinda weird – and yet, Gohan couldn't explain the rush of excitement and anticipation rising within him at the prospect.
He supposed it had to feel good, seeing as that was how people kissed all over the world. Suddenly feeling self-conscious, Gohan raised his palm over his mouth and checked his breath. In hindsight, he should've done this before kissing Videl, but he hadn't expected things to turn out this way.
He sunk into the couch and let out a sigh of relief. At least he didn't have bad breath. His cheeks heated up yet again and he broke into a small, dazed smile, his eyes glazing over, as he recalled the feel of Videl's lips. He leaned his head back and closed his eyes again. They had been soft – Videl's lips. Warm, plump, slightly humid. The simple touch had burned like vivid fire. Her breath had been fresh and minty, indicating that she must have brushed her teeth when she washed up in the bathroom earlier. He couldn't help wondering if Videl had maybe hoped for something like that to happen.
His heart was pounding. He wanted to kiss her again. He wanted to try French kissing too. He wanted to give all of his first times to Videl.
Speaking of firsts, he was really looking forward to their first date. Gohan turned his head sideways to look at the archway leading to the corridor and wondered what was taking Videl so long on the phone. The moment that thought left his mind, he heard her soft steps getting closer. The young man stood with a smile, which widened when his beautiful girlfriend passed through the archway and walked into the living room.
She rubbed the back of her neck, a nervous smile on her lips when she met his gaze. "My friends are coming to visit, and they're apparently already on their way."
Gohan blinked at the news. "You weren't expecting them?"
"Well, Erasa was eager to come see me, and she told me earlier that she would try to fly over as soon as possible, but I didn't think she and Sharpner would get on a plane as soon as today."
He scratched his hair. "When are they landing?"
He knew it was a selfish thought, but he had hoped to have Videl all to himself tonight. It was supposed to be their first date. He didn't want to have to share her with her friends, not just yet.
"Satan City is pretty far from West City, so it's going to take them a few more hours to get here." She smiled. "We still have time to catch a movie like we planned."
Cracking a smile, Gohan walked over to Videl and took her hand, his blush once again back on his face as he locked eyes with her. "Alright. Let's go then."
At the movie theater, the new couple had their heads raised as they studied the different posters of the films that were showing tonight. Glancing to the side at the tall young man, Videl wondered what Gohan liked to watch, and if he had any preferences. There was more than one good choice in this theater as far as she was concerned, but Videl didn't want to impose her taste on Gohan.
Her cheeks tingled with heat and she couldn't help smiling at the cute, thoughtful expression on Gohan's face. He was certainly a very handsome young man.
Remembering her earlier discussion with Erasa, Videl pulled her phone out of her back pocket and opened the camera application. She took a few sideways steps to get a better angle, pointing the lens at her unsuspecting boyfriend, and then she tapped on the big round button on the screen a few times.
Tchac, tchac, tchac.
Gohan blinked at her at the sound. Videl grinned sheepishly as she lowered her phone.
"I wanted photos of you," she explained.
He blushed and scratched his cheek, his eyes averting to the side. "Oh. Okay."
Unable to resist, Videl raised her phone again and took a few more shots of the adorably embarrassed boy.
Gohan peeked at her, rubbing the back of his neck. "Um, haven't you taken enough photos yet?"
"Ohh, perfect," Videl said, not breaking her focus as she kept hitting the button on her screen. "Those photos are turning out so great!"
He tilted his head to the side while cracking a nervous smile, unwittingly making himself even more appealing to his girlfriend.
"Come on, Videl, you've had enough, haven't you?"
"It's not my fault you get cuter by the second," she stated with a smirk, causing Gohan to look down at his feet while his blush deepened. "See? I can miss out on these great shots of you!"
He let out a deep sigh, and Videl chuckled as she finally lowered her phone.
"Sorry, sorry," she said with a grin. "I really wanted to have photos of you, and I couldn't resist taking more and more. You're very photogenic, you know."
His face was still bright crimson and he didn't seem ready to meet her gaze. Videl stepped closer to him and slipped an arm around his waist, leaning her head on his shoulder while she raised her other hand, the one holding her phone.
"How about a selfie together?" She tried reaching out as far as she could, but the angle wasn't right. Gohan was too tall, and her arm wasn't long enough. "Will you take it please? It'll turn out better from a higher angle."
"Uh, okay."
He took the phone from her and raised his arm over their heads, moving the rectangular device on landscape mode and shifting it from side to side to find a good angle. Their height difference wasn't making it easy. On the screen, Videl saw Gohan smile awkwardly, his blush ever-so-present, as he lowered himself a little and placed his spare hand on her shoulder. She felt a pinch in her chest. He was just too cute.
"Look at the lens, not at us on the screen," she instructed. "It'll look better."
"Right."
They smiled at the camera and Gohan tapped the button on the screen with his thumb a few times. As they straightened up, Gohan gave Videl her phone back and she opened the gallery to see how it turned out.
"You look really pretty here," he said softly, peering at the screen over her shoulder.
Videl cracked a smile, a blush forming on her cheeks at the compliment. "We look good together, don't we?"
"I'm so awkward in the photo though."
"That's part of your charm, Gohan." Videl giggled as she turned her head to look at him. "I swear, you have the cutest face."
At that, Gohan flushed even brighter, and Videl giggled again. She reached up and kissed him on the cheek, causing him to get even more flustered. He straightened up and averted his gaze, raising a hand over his mouth and nose, to likely try and cover his crimson face.
Case in point, Videl thought with another giggle.
"So, um, anyway… Did you decide what movie you want to see?" Gohan asked, changing the subject.
"I'm okay with whatever you choose. They all look pretty good." She shrugged. "Do you have a preference?"
He shifted his gaze to the posters hanging high over the cash registers, his brow creasing in thought.
"I don't really know," he said after a while. "I don't watch a lot of movies, to be honest."
Videl tilted her head to the side. "Do you have a preferred genre, then?" She turned to the posters and pointed at them one by one. "Here we have action, romantic-comedy, animation, horror, action-comedy, and this one's just comedy. This one is based on a true story, this one's a tragedy, there we have a dramatic comedy… There's pretty much any kind."
Gohan hummed in thought, holding his chin while he considered their options. "A comedy sounds good, but there are different kinds to choose from."
"Then which poster appeals to you most?"
Gohan turned to her and tilted his head to the side. "But what about you? Are you really okay with anything? Don't you have a preference too?"
She waved him off. "I really am okay with whatever, so don't worry about it."
"You could help me make a decision though," he said with an amused smile, one eyebrow raised.
Videl chuckled. "Alright. You said a comedy, right? Let's see what we got here…"
In the end, Gohan and Videl made up their mind on the action-comedy film. It looked pretty fun, and Gohan seemed excited to see it. As they waited in line to get their tickets, Videl gazed at him with a smile. To be honest, that movie had been her first choice, and she was glad that Gohan unknowingly shared her taste.
Soon enough, they went into the room for their movie and both agreed to get seats around the middle rows. They had bought two extra-large popcorns, most of which Gohan would probably finish by himself, and large drinks as well.
They shared a smile as they sat side by side in the still well-lit room, waiting for the commercials to begin. Videl pulled up the armrest between them and leaned on Gohan's shoulder; he wrapped his arm around her waist and let his cheek rest against the top of her head.
Videl closed her eyes and sighed in content. This felt so nice.
After they left the theater, Gohan and Videl went to get dinner in a nice and cozy Italian restaurant. They happily chatted about the fun movie they'd just seen the whole time, sharing their favorite parts and talking about which characters they liked most.
"The action scenes were so fun, too!" Gohan went on with enthusiasm, his eyes sparkling. "There's something so riveting about watching a woman kick butts." His cheeks pigmented with red and he shot her a sheepish grin. "I mean, that's kinda what first drew me to you." He gave an awkward chuckle, scratching the back of his head. "I saw you throw a punch, and that was it for me. I was all in already. That was all it took."
Her heart thumped. Videl forgot how to breathe for a moment, getting lost in Gohan's pitch-black eyes. Hearing him say that he basically liked her from the very first time he saw her, it was making her feel all warm and fuzzy.
"I… I already liked you then too," she murmured. Gohan raised his eyebrows, leaning closer over the table as his attention focused on her. She cracked a small smile. "We kinda clicked right away, didn't we?"
He grinned. "Yeah, we did."
Gohan put his hand over hers on the table and held it firmly, his smile softening. "I'm really, really, really glad we met that day."
She chuckled, tucking her stray strands behind her ear with her spare hand. "You and your reallys again."
"I just, I reall… Um, I mean…" He drew himself back and coughed into his hand, his face an adorably pink color. "I just can't believe my luck." He laughed softly, rubbing the back of his neck. "I mean, I just happened to meet this incredible girl, and she even likes me back and asked me out. I honestly can't believe my luck."
His eyes were so soft and warm and loving. Videl felt breathless. Her heart was pounding.
"Yeah, I… I feel really lucky too," she uttered, her voice low and hoarse.
Gohan beamed. Videl felt herself swoon, her vision glazing over as she stared at her handsome boyfriend. He had such a dazzling smile. Seriously, just how good-looking and charming could the guy be? How had she ever been supposed to resist that smile, and those eyes, and that adorable face?
After some time, and Gohan let out a low chuckle, his cheeks tinging with pink. He scratched his hair. "Anyway, I liked how the kids had to find clues to get to their mom," he said, picking the conversation where they'd left off. "And the dad was funny."
Videl smiled. "Yeah, he was dorky and silly but in a lovable way. I didn't like her ex from the start, I knew there was something off about him."
"Really? I was caught completely off guard when he turned out to be a bad guy!"
They laughed in good humor and kept chatting about the movie as they finished eating. Gohan had ordered the whole menu again, so they had time to kill while he emptied plate after plate at a rather slow pace. Neither minded. They were having a wonderful time.
After dinner, Videl suggested they take a walk, and Gohan gladly accepted. They held hands and strolled around the streets, going to the quieter parts of the city. They were all talked-out and were content just walking together, hand in hand, stealing glances and sharing fond smiles.
"This has been the perfect first date," Gohan said quietly, giving her hand a squeeze as his eyes softened in that heart-warming way.
"Yeah," Videl agreed. It felt like her smile had been glued to her face for hours. She was so blissfully happy right now.
They passed by a bench and Gohan suggested they took a break to sit together. Videl let herself sink into him, snuggling close to him as he wrapped his arms around her much smaller frame. She tucked her head under his chin; her face heated up when Gohan pressed his lips on her forehead and let them linger.
She pulled back slightly, just enough so she could look at him. He reached up and tucked her bangs behind her ear, leaving his hand against her cheek, stroking it with his thumb.
Her throat tightened as his gaze lowered to her lips. Her heart jolted in excitement and anticipation. She leaned closer, letting her hands rest against his torso. Gohan placed his other hand on the small of her back; their eyes slid shut and they slowly closed the gap between them.
Videl sighed against his lips. It just felt so good. They were definitely compatible – the sparks, the explosion of sensations, the incredible pleasure at this simple touch… Videl never thought kissing would feel so intense, so delectable. But she suspected that it only felt this way because of the person she was kissing.
Gohan pulled back slightly and leaned his forehead against hers, his hand still on her cheek. He let out a content sigh, his breath tickling her mouth. Her eyes still closed, Videl felt her lips break into a silly smile.
"Can I… um… Can we… try… uhh…"
Videl put her arms around his neck. "What is it? What do you want to try?"
"Well, um, you know…" He cleared his throat. Videl's smile widened. Even with her eyes closed, she could just see his embarrassed blush. "I mean… um… There's… more to kissing, right?"
Her face flushed. She pulled back a little, lowering her gaze bashfully. "You… you mean…?"
"It, it's totally fine if you'd rather not," Gohan said quickly, bringing her closer with his hand on her lower back, as though he was afraid she might slip away if he didn't keep her close to him. "I was just, um, a little curious about it. I mean, if it already feels so… you know… when we kiss, I couldn't help wondering if it could somehow feel even better."
Videl leaned on his chest, tucking her head under his chin. Gohan held her with both his arms.
"It's not that I'd rather not," she said in a small voice. "I was wondering the same thing, if I'm honest…"
"Then…?"
"I'm just… nervous, I guess. I've never done that before. I'd probably be bad at it."
"I've never done that before either," Gohan admitted. "But, because it's with you, I know it'll be amazing… Besides, have you ever been bad at anything? I find that hard to believe, Miss I-taught-myself-how-to-fly."
She laughed in her hand at his joke. He tightened his arms around her and kissed the top of her head.
"But it's okay if you're too nervous to try it right now. I'm nervous too. We don't need to rush into anything we're not ready for."
Videl sighed in content, snuggling closer to Gohan. "How are you so perfect?"
He chuckled, the rumble in his chest reverberating against her cheek. Videl grinned to herself.
"I'm far from perfect, but I kinda like that you think so."
She quietly disagreed, but the young woman decided to keep her opinion to herself. Instead, she straightened up and put her hands on Gohan's shoulders. Her face was burning and she was still apprehensive about taking that particular step, but it was with Gohan, and she knew she could let go of her restraint with him. She wanted to try this with him, too. She really wanted to, to be honest.
Her boyfriend tilted his head to the side, silently asking her what she was up to. She cracked a smile. He was so adorably clueless.
"I want to try it," she breathed out. "French kissing."
His eyes widened and his face flared up. "But I… I thought…?"
Videl decided to just go for it, so she dove in and closed her eyes. The sparks ignited as their lips made contact, and Gohan's breath hitched. His hands shifted to hold her waist; hers rose to cup his face, trembling slightly.
Tentatively, she opened her mouth and slipped her tongue out, shyly teasing Gohan's lower lip. He sucked in a sharp breath as he parted his lips and met her tongue with his own.
She felt dizzy. It really did become even more intense. The pleasure was… something else. It was like every atom in her body had burst into life. Videl opened her mouth wider and pulled Gohan closer, deepening the kiss, losing herself completely in the moment.
Goodness, she was becoming addicted.
Hope you enjoyed the chapter! Don't forget to leave a review please. :D
