Chapter 39- Memories and the Graveyard
A/N: This story will go into the "Age of Ultron" but there is filler to ease into that and how Jimmy and Carly fit into this story and how Bucky and Diana ease into being Avengers and Diana has backstory as well.
Diana slowly walked back to her bungalow. It had been a hard day. The hardest she had seen being a doctor. She had to remove an enlarged spleen and deliver four babies. Diana put the key into the lock as a pair of arms grabbed her and put a hand over her mouth and nose. "Just breathe," a male voice said in a dull monotone. Diana felt her head swim as she was lifted into his arms and she blacked out.
When Diana came to she was seated upright in a chair and felt the freezing cold air hitting her arms. It was then she dumbly realized someone had removed her doctor's coat and her tanktop and blue jeans weren't clothing that you wore when it was cold. She looked down and saw a needle in her wrist and looking up she saw a bag filled with some bright blue liquid. She then looked over to see two men watching her. One was dressed like a general or captain and the other was a young man with long dark hair, scruff on his chin, and a metal arm.
One of them looked cold and clinical, but the man with the metal arm had a look of pity in his slate-blue eyes. "Soldat, you know what we have asked of you," the other man said gruffly. The younger man walked over to her and before she could blink, his lips were on hers and his arms were around her shoulders
"Kiss me," he ordered, separating his mouth from hers before pressing his lips to hers again. Diana kissed him back. In the days that followed the feel of his kisses started to feel right, but this first kiss she had no choice. Every time she tried to complain they either electroshocked her or ordered him to kiss her to either make her be quiet or getting her used to him as her husband.
It was three days after her capture that the Soldier told her what they had in mind for her. They had let her out of the chair and had finished dumping the blue liquid into her body, which hurt. Her arms were sore and bruises from where the needle had been was in the forearm. The Soldier had taken her to what looked like a commissary and brought her some food. "Eat," the Soldier said gruffly, pushing her stringy, greasy hair out of her eyes, his flesh fingers gently trailing her face.
"Are they going to kill me?" Diana asked, her voice quavering slightly.
"No. If you do as you're told, then you will live," the Soldier said, wrapping his fingers in her hair. Diana wanted to hold his palm to her face. It was still cold here as she had found out that they were in Siberia. The Soldier's hand was very warm as she could feel it through her hair.
"What do they want?" Diana asked.
"They want you to marry me and have my child. Why do you think I have been kissing you? I was ordered to get you used to kissing me," the Soldier said, his words shocking Diana.
"What? No! I don't love you," Diana said, feeling the blood drain out of her face.
"It doesn't matter to them. If you don't do as they say they will kill you and have me find someone else to bear a child. You love kissing me, don't you?" The Soldier asked, rubbing his thumb across her lips in a gentle caress. It was a stupid question. All Diana wanted to do at this point was kiss him. She had been bold only once and had kissed him before he kissed her. It had to have been the blue drugs they pumped into her that made her loopy and want to remove his hand from her mouth and kiss him at this moment. She felt like taking his hand and kissing each finger and the palm after kissing his lips.
"Any woman would, but that's beside the point. I don't love you and I have a family, who's probably worried about me," Diana said as tears spilled over and down her cheeks. Not loving him felt like a lie as soon as the words left her lips. What was wrong with her? She didn't even know this man and she felt like she loved him already? He was the one who kidnapped her. She shouldn't be loving him or wanting him to kiss her or playing with her hair as he had removed his hand from her lips and returned to wrapping her hair in his hand as if her hair belonged to him.
"No, they're not. You don't have a family any more. We fixed it where your family thinks you are dead," the Soldier said dispassionately. Diana's stomach dropped and she grew paler.
"No. How could you? No!" Diana broke into sobs. She felt a metal and flesh arm wrap around her and press her head into a broad rock-hard chest.
"I'm sorry, doll," she heard a voice whisper softly against her ear as the Soldier kissed her ear gently. He then trailed kisses from her ear to her lips and made her kiss him, giving her no choice but to be his wife as his lips explored her lips. He wasn't wrong about her being used to him kissing her. Diana raised her fingers and dug them into his hair, loving the soft strands on her hands as he showered her face with warm gentle kisses. She knew now that she loved his kiss as he tilted her head and started to kiss her neck.
Yelizaveta joined her father, mother, Sam and Steve in the graveyard. Fury had said that he had wanted to meet them there. Other than a few bruises and cuts on his face, Steve was starting to look better. "Buck, you're still here," Steve said, looking happy to see Bucky.
"Yes. I don't remember you, but we will stay for my daughter," Bucky said, resting his flesh arm across Yelizaveta's shoulders.
"Pal, we'll help you. Liz will even help. Won't ya, Liz?" Steve asked Yelizaveta.
"Of course I will. Stark and Banner can help us too and Clint of course. He helped me when I was sick from what HYDRA did to me. He'd be more than happy to help," Yelizaveta said as she looked down on what looked to be a grave stone with Fury's name and a Bible verse on it.
"So, I guess he's really gonna play dead?" Sam asked.
"Yep. No one can kill you if you're already dead," Yelizaveta said.
"So, you've experienced this sort of thing before," Fury's voice got their attention and he came over to them, wearing what looked like Bucky's clothes and a pair of sunglasses.
"Not really. You're the first person I know who more or less faked his death," Yelizaveta said.
"You get used to it," Steve said.
"We've been data mining HYDRA's files. Looks like a lot of rats didn't go down with the ship," Fury said.
"I could've told you that. HYDRA has an uncanny habit of not wanting to die. Cut off one head, another grows in it's place. They also have the school me and Natasha trained at in Belarus," Yelizaveta said, feeling Bucky's flesh hand on the back of her neck, his fingers going into her dark hair.
"I'm headed to Europe tonight. Wanted to ask if you'd come. You too, Barnes," Fury said, looking at first Steve and then Yelizaveta.
"There're are things I gotta do first," Steve said.
"Me too. I just got my parents back. I don't think they want me going off to Europe any time soo without them," Yelizaveta said, looking at Bucky and Diana.
"She's right. We just got our baby back. We don't want to lose her again," Diana said, wrapping her arm around Yelizaveta.
"How about you, Wilson? Could use a man with your abilities," Fury said, looking at Sam.
"I'm more of a soldier than a spy," Sam said in refusal.
"All right, then. Anybody asks for me, tell them they can find me, right here. Oh, by the way, Barnes, this was found on the 41st floor," Fury said as he shook their hands and then moved to reveal Yelizaveta's sword on the ground in it's sheath. He walked away as Yelizaveta picked it up.
"You should be honored. That's about as close as he gets to saying thank you," Natasha said dryly as she walked to them.
"Not going with them, Nat?" Yelizaveta asked.
"No," Natasha said in negative.
"Not staying here," Steve said. It was a comment, not a question.
"Nah. I blew all my covers. I got to go figure out a new one," Natasha said.
"That might take awhile," Steve said.
"I'm counting on it," Natasha said.
"Natasha, why don't you come with us? We're going to New York as I think Stark and Banner can help us with Dad," Yelizaveta said.
"I don't think Bruce is that kind of a doctor," Natasha said.
"Well, he does know about what's like to have someone play with your brain. Also Clint can help too as he lived through Loki," Yelizaveta said.
"I might come later. Will you do me a favor? Call that nurse," Natasha said, meaning the woman, Sharon, that Fury had assigned to watch Steve.
"She's not a nurse," Steve said.
"And you're not a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent," Yelizaveta said.
"What was her name again?" Steve asked.
"Sharon. She's nice," Natasha said and she kissed Steve's cheek. "Be careful, Steve, Vet," Natasha said as she walked away.
"Well, now what?" Sam asked.
"First I take Dad to the Smithsonian," Yelizaveta aid, gripping Bucky's flesh hand.
"What's at the Smithsonian?" Bucky asked.
"There's a memorial to Steve, but you are in it too. Come with me and you'll see," Yelizaveta said as she pulled her father out of the graveyard. Steve, Sam, and Diana following.
Bucky stood in mute shock in front of the black-and-white photo of him, Elizabeth holding his hand. Diana stood next to their daughter, her small hand on Elizabeth's shoulder. Steve and his friend, Sam, was also there, silent as Bucky looked at the picture and read the information about him being a soldier in the war and how he had fallen off a train in Italy. Everyone had thought he had died, but HYDRA had found him instead.
"Dad?" Elizabeth asked, touching his face, gently. He turned and looked at her.
"I'm all right, doll," Bucky said in a thin voice.
"Are you sure, James?" Diana asked.
"Yes. At least we now know that really is my name," Bucky said.
"Yeah, Pal, it really is. But not very many people called you that. Not even your sisters and parents," Steve said, clapping Bucky's shoulder.
"Did everyone call you Bucky?" Elizabeth asked.
"Not everyone. You can't call me that. I'm your dad," Bucky said.
"That I know. I just wondered if people didn't," Elizabeth said.
"I think a few teachers and the pastor at Ma's church and Ma didn't," Steve said.
"Your mother's name was Sarah," Bucky said.
"That's right. Come on. We have to get to Stark Tower. It's almost a five-hour trip from here," Steve said as they ;eft the museum.
