I've read heaps of Twilight fanfiction and love them. So I've decided to try my hand at writing my own. I am mainly doing this to get the story out of my head. I've never done anything like this before, but I'm excited to give it ago.
Chapter 1
For fuck's sake, Seth, will you cut it out? Leah screamed for the third time in one night.
Leave him be, Leah. You know he's just excited about today. Sam scolded her.
It's going to be a great day. I'm so happy for them. They deserve their happily ever after.
Sam rolled his eyes, even though nobody could see him. Leah was starting to seethe again.
Yeah, and at what expense? Leah questioned. You know he is probably listening. Cut it out, Seth!
Sorry, Jake. Seth said quietly. He may not be phased right now, or he may be asleep, but he was so quiet most of the time that they all forgot he was there.
Seth, why do you phase out and walk home human before your sister takes a bite out of you? Keep your guard up at the wedding. We won't be far away in case things go wrong.
Now Seth rolled his eyes. Everything's going to be okay, Sam. They won't hurt me.
Seth phased out and pulled his cut-offs back on. He was genuinely excited about the wedding. But, he wanted to get home, to take a shower and crash before heading over the Cullens.
As he was walking through the forest, he heard a familiar rumble. He knew that car, but what was it doing in La Push at 1 in the morning.
Jogging at a faster than human pace to reach the main road into town, he ran towards the approaching car.
He loved this car. Black, sleek, shiny and the sound of the V12 never ceased to make him smile.
Bella's Mercedes Guardian came around the corner, and she stopped the car at the sight of Seth standing in the road.
He jogged up to her side window but stopped when he saw her face. It made his hair stand on end. Something was wrong, very wrong.
Bella looked like a mess. Her hair was all tangled down around her face, her eyes were rimmed red, and she had tears streaking down her face.
He opened her door and asked her, "Bella, what's wrong? What happened?"
She leapt out of the car and into his arms and started rambling. She had her face pressed into his bare chest, and he couldn't hear her.
He grabbed her shoulders carefully and pulled her away from him to look at her face.
"Seth, you have to help me," she sobbed.
Seth was a protector. It was in his nature to help people. She looked scared, really scared. "Yes, anything, what is it?"
"Oh God, oh God. I can't do this," she started rambling. Then, she pulled away from him began pacing back and forth.
"I need to find him. I need to find him. I need to find him..." She continued to repeat.
"Who? Who do you need to find?"
"J-Jake. I need him. I need him. Something's wrong." She started hugging one arm around her stomach, and the other hand she was rubbing on her chest, right over where her heart was.
She was starting to freak Seth out. "What do mean something's wrong?"
She ignored his question. "Do you know where he is? You said you knew where he was. Can you take me to him? Please?"
Bella looked up at him, and the fear and sadness in her eyes nearly broke his heart.
"Bella, you're getting married today," he said, dumbfounded.
At this statement, she resumed her pacing. "I can't do it. I can't do it. I need to get away. I need to get away. He won't leave me alone. Never alone. I need Jake."
Seth was overwhelmed with emotions. He knew his loyalties lay with his pack, with his friend. But he also loved the Cullens, particularly Edward. Ever since the Newborn War, they had started a strange friendship. No one really understood it, but he liked him.
This all made no sense. Bella loved Edward. She had chosen Edward over Jake, breaking his heart. Then, when the wedding date was announced, Jacob had run away. He couldn't handle watching his girl get married to someone else.
But she was never his girl. She was always Edward's.
Until now.
"You are scared," he stated, not asked. He could feel the fear rolling off her in waves. "Why don't I take you to Sam…."
She cut him off. "No. I need Jake. He is the only one."
He could sense the fear in her. "You really mean it, don't you?"
She stopped pacing and nodded. He could see the conviction in her eyes.
Shit. What was he supposed to do now?
She walked up to him and placed her freezing cold hand on his chest. It made goosebumps appear across his chest. "Please help me find him. I can't go by myself. They will find me and …" She couldn't finish the sentence, just brought in a shuddering breath.
Slowly Seth nodded his head. He couldn't resist her plea for help. Bella was like a sister to him. If this was Leah, he would do what she asked without any further questions.
Without thinking about it, he pulled her towards the passenger door, opened it and pushed her gently towards the seat. She obliged and sat down gingerly.
He raced around to the driver's side door and hopped into the car. There was no way she could drive in her state. This may be the safest car on the market, but he didn't want to risk damaging it!
He started the car and felt the familiar tingle through his body as it purred to life. He gently put his foot on the accelerator as they took off out of La Push.
