Chapter I

Bonding

All Might looked at the ruin that used to be the 'Life Foundation'. They had been conducting illegal experiments while trying to create artificial Quirks. They experimented on unwilling subjects and every single one died. All Might had been in the city when they were planning the raid and volunteered his help. A tech hero named Gear was looking at the data. It was… disturbing, in a word.

The Hell was wrong with these people? All Might thought looking at the results. The deaths had been gruesome and many had suffered first.

"Oh shit! We have a problem." Gear said.

"What is it?" All Might asked.

"We're missing one."

"What!?"

"One of the test subjects is unaccounted for. If it tries binding to other people…"

"Oh no."

Izuku Midoriya was writing in a notebook he had titled Hero Analysis for the Future No. 13 as he walked home. He had just seen a new hero, Mt. Lady, earlier so he was writing down some new info.

Maybe I should just digitize these already but then I won't be able to have them on hand and that's what makes them useful but I have too many notebooks now 13 is a lot maybe I should get one of those tablets except I can't afford one of those

He was so lost in his mental muttering that he didn't notice something coming out of the sewer grate behind him, until it was too late. Izuku turned just as a black tar like substance came at him. He couldn't even scream as it surrounded his whole body. The black mass seeped under his skin and Izuku passed out. That's how All Might found him.

Am I too late? He wondered as he pressed his head to the boy's chest. He's alive. I should get him to Recovery Girl. He picked up Izuku and his notebook before he raced to UA.

All Might sat outside the room in his normal form waiting for Recovery Girl's verdict. Also with him was Principal Nezu. Suddenly the door opened and Recovery Girl beckoned them inside.

"Well?" All Might asked.

"You were right to bring him here. Whatever that thing was has bonded to him. But this is different."

"What do you mean?" Nezu asked.

"He is not suffering adversely like everyone else from the 'Life Foundation' experiments. In fact the bond seems symbiotic."

"You mean, they're compatible?" All Might asked.

"That's what it looks like. Maybe the 'Life Foundation' was on to something after all. I want to keep him at least overnight. Make sure he doesn't die in his sleep."

"We need to find a way to contact his family first." Nezu said.

"Let's see…" Recovery Girl said as she looked up his information. "Here it is. Izuku Midoriya, 14, oh this is interesting, quirkless."

"Quirkless?" All Might asked.

"Indeed. Next of kin, Inko Midoriya, mother."

"I will contact her immediately." Nezu said as he walked out

Suddenly the boy grumbled and moved. "food…" he said weakly. "I'm…starving…" All Might quickly went into is muscle form before Izuku noticed him. He was suddenly on his feet. "Hey is there a cafeteria here? Or a vending machine?" he asked All Might before… "ALL MIGHT!?"

"Calm down young Midoriya." All Might said. "Follow me to the cafeteria. While we eat I'll try to explain what happened."

Lunch Rush quickly served some food for Izuku, then seconds, then thirds, and lastly fourths. Izuku practically inhaled it all quickly.

"That was…impressive?" All Might said.

"I don't get it. I've never eaten that much before."

"Perhaps it's a side effect."

"Of what?"

"I'll explain," All Might told Izuku about the Life Foundation experiments and the symbiote.

"Artificial quirks… wait, does this mean I have quirk now?"

"No idea!"

"Huh?"

"Everyone else who bound to one of these symbiotes died. You are the only one who has survived the bonding. We have no idea what the effects will be. But no worries! We will keep an eye on you. And if a quirk develops we will help you learn to use it."

"Mister Midoriya." Nezu said as he approached.

"Whoa you're Nezu! UA's headmaster!" Izuku said excitedly.

"Yes, it's nice to meet you. We've contacted your mother and she agreed to let us keep you overnight so Recovery Girl can examine you. She'll pick you up tomorrow morning."

"Thank you Mr. Nezu. And you to All Might."

That night as Izuku slept the symbiote got comfortable in his new home.

Now we're one.

The next day…

"So my baby boy is all right?" Inko asked worriedly.

"He's fine. So far the only side effect is a large increase in appetite. So you'll have to make larger servings for meals." Recover Girl told her.

"Here, Mrs. Midoriya." All Might said handing her a piece of paper. "Should any new side effects occur please contact me immediately."

"Of course and thank you for taking care of my son."
