I am back with another chapter! Good news: I've had enough surplus from the mitochondria of my brain cells to plot out the rest of the storyline finally, FINALLY! Woooooo! Now for the ehhhh part: this may take me a while to complete. I have my studies (still) to go through and life duties, but this now has purpose! I only own my OCs and nothing else. Nada belongs to MonstarzGirl and the rest of the others are the trusted property of Warner Bros. Reader discretion is advised for this chapter.
Third Person POV:
Elise woke slightly startled. She glanced up and noticed that she was in the infirmary of the Monstar's basement. Stretching, she popped a couple joints and realigned her bones from their stiff state. She must have fell asleep while still tending to Hale and Pound. She glanced up at the monitors that have been tracking their vitals; nothing else has changed otherwise. Their status has indeed improved, but only just.
Hale's breathing was back to normal, and his eyes fluttered from time to time, but remained unconscious. Pound's was also on the even side, his heartrate beating at a low soothing rate.
While this pleased the healer, it did leave her a bit stumped and disappointed. The potion must be taking much longer than anticipated to go into full effect.
She rubbed her sleepy light brown orbs and glanced at the clock hanging on the wall. It was already a quarter to four in the morning. Taking a deep breath and exhaling as deep, she rose from the desk and turned off the light. Taking one more look at her sleeping beau and the fearless Monstar leader in their slumbering forms, Elise smiled and made her way out of the infirmary back to her resting quarters with her notes, all while leaving the tomes on the desk unattended…
Normal POV:
I felt like I was floating in nothing but deep darkness, my eyes searching through the vast void in search of something. Then I saw a figure illuminating the abyss; it was Hale.
My heart skipped a few beats and I smiled with relief. I tried to reach out to him, but my body wouldn't move. I noticed this and opened my mouth to speak, but no words would form or sound out.
'This is so strange. Why can't I speak?' I thought to myself as I tried to take command of myself, but to no avail. Then I looked up and Hale was looking back at me, his expression completely unreadable.
'Hale! It's me! Kari!' I wanted to cry out desperately, but I was denied the command. Then I saw something else… Or rather someone else.
It was a tall figure, with the most sinister green eyes that I have ever seen. They glowed ominously as they focused on me, ignoring my brother completely.
The shady figure then started to make its way towards me at a slow but terrifying pace. My surroundings started to pound loudly, like as if the whole place were the working chambers of a heart…
I wanted to move, but no matter how much I willed myself to, my stiff form just wouldn't cooperate. Is this what they call sleep paralysis?
I glanced up, fear swallowing me for the first time in so many years. The same overwhelming fear that engulfed me when I encountered Swackhammer in my room a couple years back.
The creature before me breathed shallowly, almost croaking. Its face was completely disfigured, as it looked at me with an empty stare. Slowly, its features illuminated briefly like a flash of lightning. I wanted to cry out in terror; the face was that of a very deceased Swackhammer, with eyeless holes gaping back at me with nothing but a sick, eerie green glow of what would have been his pupils. His mouth smirking at me with a razor-sharp row of teeth, only they were rotting as well.
I couldn't move, as my breathing increased frantically, his decaying claws reaching out to grab a few strands of my hair. I could only squeeze my eyes shut, hoping for the horrible image to go away.
'Go away, go away, go away! You're dead! You're dead!' I frantically chanted to myself. I opened my eyes again and the corpse was gone. As relieved as I should have been, I couldn't bring myself to relax. I still couldn't move my body and Hale was still nowhere to be found.
Then I felt something large clamping over my mouth, almost like an oversized gag. Chains shot out from the darkness and took hold of my limbs, tying me down and keeping me rooted on the spot. I felt panic surging all throughout and then my eyes switched up to see glowing green eyes, but they weren't Swackhammer's…
It was someone who looks very much like him, only slimmer and more pointed looking in his appearance. He grinned sadistically at me, his teeth needle-like and jagged. Without a chance to register who he was or could be, our surroundings were suddenly engulfed in flames. It all seemed so real as the fire came closer and closer, but rather than feeling the scorching heat, there was an icy coldness. My attention snapped back at the evil figure before me, only to see something else in his place.
I finally felt a scream rip out from my throat as I saw my brother's dead face before me.
My eyes flew open as I shot up from the bed screaming. Nawt instantly bolted up from the bed and switched the light on, his eyes snapping over at me and placing a firm grip over my shoulders. "Kari! Kari! What's wrong?!" His eyes searched worryingly over me as if in a dire search for whatever was ailing me.
I was hyperventilating and covered in sweat, trying to take in deep lungful gulps of air.
I looked around frantically, seeing that I was back in my home in the guest room with Nawt. No sign of my brother, or Swackhammer, or that demon that looked like him…
"Kari, sweetheart, what happened?" Nawt asked me with worry. His eyes were still searching, as if the answer was evading him to no end.
I looked back at him and flung to him into a tight embrace. "Nawt! Hale! Swackhammer! There was fire and chains!" I was sobbing while trying to make sense that I am now back to reality and not that hell that I experienced.
Nawt firmly held me in his arms, trying to soothe me and my helpless cries. He frowned, feeling somewhat helpless himself. "Kari, Hale is alright. He is with Elise and the others back at the manor. They are all safe. Swackhammer is gone. He can't hurt you anymore."
I hiccupped as I buried my face into the crook of his strong neck, my heart still beating at an incredibly fast rate.
After a few moments, I finally calmed down enough to ease my hold on my boyfriend. Nawt smiled and wiped away what was left of my tears, kissing me gently on the forehead. "You okay, my love?"
"Yes. I'm sorry. I just… had a terrible nightmare. I saw… I saw him, and my brother… and this demon…"
He raised a brow ridge and cupped my cheek. "What do you mean 'demon'? Want to tell me what you saw in your dream, baby?"
I nodded, hoping to get some idea of what all had transpired in my dream could be.
I told Nawt everything, from the dark abyss to seeing my brother and the zombie Swackhammer. He nodded and listened intently to everything I told him while running his fingers soothingly through my auburn hair. As I told him about the 'demon' that appeared and began to give more specifics about its appearance, Nawt froze in his sitting position, and his eyes began to widen.
I noticed this and asked worriedly "Nawt, what's wrong?"
He shook his head, blinking a few times. "Nothing, babe. I… I doubt that's even possible…"
"What? What isn't? Tell me!" I hopped next to him, wanting an answer to what he may know.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Kari, that 'demon' you described… Have you seen him before? I mean, did he appear to you other than this dream?"
"No, this is the first time I have seen him. Why? Is he real?" I was growing more and more concerned about all this.
Nawt bit the inside of his cheek in thought, a low hum emitting from him in response. "Unfortunately, yes. But it's rather strange, considering you say that you have never seen him before until now… Hold on!" His eyes widened even more in realization. He got up abruptly from the bed. He snatched his cell phone from the night table and began dialing a phone number. I was about to ask who he was calling, until I heard Blanko's voice on the other line.
"Nawt? What's up? It's like 6 am."
"Blanko! Sorry for the early morning call. Did you remember what metal component was still in process of being analyzed from the weapon?"
"Uh, barely. I think it was 16 Psyche… Wait. That's not..."
"Not possible? Didn't think so either, but I hope we aren't mistaken. Thanks, man. We will be over there soon!"
Ending the call, Nawt grabbed his jersey and began to grab some fresh clothes. He sauntered over to me and took my hand. "I'll explain everything once we get to the manor, but right now, I need you to hurry and get ready Kari!"
I nodded and quickly rushed to my room to grab some clothes and jumped into the shower. After we both freshened up, I was ready and dressed in knee high black boots, thigh high black stockings, black shorts, a white off the shoulder top with my black underarmor sports bra underneath and grabbed my pine green jacket to top off the look.
Nawt dressed up in his basketball jersey and wore his black and red sports jacket from earlier, grabbing our accessories as we headed towards my room to go through the mirror to the manor.
"Nawt, what is this all about? What's going on?" I asked with slight agitation. We finally arrived to the manor and were in his room. Nawt took a breath and turned to face me, a dreading and worrisome look on his face. "Kari, that demon you saw in your dream is no demon. From what you have described… that was Swackhammer's brother. And if I'm not wrong… He's probably the one responsible for the attack on Hale and Pound."
I was stunned. I couldn't believe what I just heard. So my dream wasn't entirely made up of my imagination and recent binging on the internet of all things. This was real.
We heard a loud commotion coming from downstairs that snapped us out of our stupor. "What now?" I moaned in exasperation. My red Monstar took a hold of my hand, and we bolted our way downstairs and into the infirmary down in the basement.
Upon arriving, we met the dismayed faces of Elise, Bupkus, Lexi, Marie, Blanko, Bang, Witch Hazel, Bugs, Daffy, Lola, Sylvester, Tweety, Elmer, Wile, Foghorn and Yosemite.
"We got here as quick as we could. What happened?" I said with exasperation. Elise was on the floor with some torn book and ripped pages strewn about on the floor.
"Elise, what happened?" I was surprised at the mess in front of her. Then I looked closer at the book she was holding; it was Merlin's tome.
"I found it torn to bit like this when I came back down here this morning. Hale and Pound are okay, thankfully. It seems that whoever was here didn't have the chance to stay long enough to cause real damage." The healer spoke, but with little relief in her voice.
"So, all they did was just tear away at Merlin's tome?" Nawt asked in shock.
"Not just that, they got away with something." Bang muttered in anger, disappointed that he didn't get the chance to rip away at the perpetrator's throat upon their arrival.
"Which was what?" I looked at the green Monstar in wonder. Bupkus then spoke up. "Morgan Le Fay's tome. He took it."
"He?" I switched my attention to the purple giant. Everyone muttered in curiosity as to what he meant.
Blanko, lastly, took his turn to speak. What he said next, confirmed my fears and a fact of my night terror that I had dreamt.
"Our old dead boss's brother, Painstake."
