Chapter 45
Song: Butter-Fly (English Fan Dub Ver.)
Artist: LeeandLie (Original Japanese Artist: Koji Wada)
My broken wings dream of the sky,
And they'll never be able to fly.
Only if we never try,
On my loo-o-o-ove!
If I could become just one thing,
I'd be a butterfly-free soaring.
I really miss you...
So finally I'm on my way.
Let's focus on the people we trust
And leave out all the doubt behind us.
So if you're ready...
Can we go? 'Cause there's no time to wa-aste.
I wanna kno-o-ow oh...
If the sky above is only for show.
I wanna kno-o-ow oh...
What tomorrow will bring so let's spread our wi-i-ings!
Maybe this world's an infinite dream,
And there is only hope living in me!
May it not fail me now!
We'll turn this thing around and bring back the lovin' somehow!
My broken wings dream of the sky,
and they'll never be able to fly!
Only if we never try,
On my lo-o-ove!
On my lo-o-o-ove!
Team RWBY is done shopping in Kanto City as they turn in for the night over at the Pokemon Center. Yang is done taking a shower as she comes in with her hair wrapped in a towel and in her pajamas. Ruby is reading a book before going to bed just like Blake as they sit or lay on their beds. Weiss is checking her Megadex and stumbled onto something.
"Hmm?" she went.
"Whatcha got, Weiss?" Yang asks.
"I found something about where to find legendary and mythical Pokemon creatures. They even respawn after capture once a week."
"Oh?" Ruby lowers her book and pays attention to Weiss. "Sounds like some sort of game mechanic."
"It actually kinda does." Yang agrees with Ruby about it.
"It says that the place is called, the Cave of Legends. It is-"
AN: Hold on! Let me explain. I answered a question from keybladeknight in a PM and here is what I answered.
In my original design for the Pokemon MMO game idea, the cave is supposed to be the hardest place there is where many players might rage quit with certain Pokemon able to run away, having more OP moves and complicated puzzles. Some areas require proof of your capture of mythical Pokemon in your Megadex in order to gain access to legendary Pokemon. To make matters worse, the levels of the legendary Pokemon is 250. Odds of being able to make it to Arceus in the end is less than 5% with a 99% of players quitting. It is meant for the most advance and seasoned players of the game with enough patience and intelligence, and dump loads of full restores and revives. In other words, its a video game hell for those who want to get on the fast lane of the game. Think of it as the same way you try to get into the castle at the very beginning of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with only three hearts and no master sword. Trying to use mythical and legendary Pokemon early on is cheating and capturing them on the first day is a death sentence.
In Team RWBY's case, if you factor in their new additions to their semblances, their odds of survival are...8%. I do have a bit of a sadistic side. But not without some form of mercy. Once you defeated a legendary Pokemon, there are areas that allow you to heal your Pokemon in a form of a spring and an old and barely PC that let you switch our your Pokemon. Basically something similar to a Pokemon Center but no Nurse Joy. There are also a few hints in these safe zones about some of the puzzles in the next area. So there's that.
That is all.
Yang put things together after the explanation, "So, let me get this straight: There's a cave where we can get all kinds of Pokemon that exist in legends and myths?"
"Exactly." Weiss says. "However, the chance of us getting the Pokemon we need to get back to Remnant is pretty low. A lot of trainers never came back with few reporting of skeletons and destroyed Pokeballs."
"What 're our chances?" Blake asks after hearing everything.
"If we can use our upgraded semblances, fight alongside our Pokemon with enough provisions to get where we need to get the specific kind of Pokemon, and not to mention that we've gotta go in with no weapons or Dust... The answer is less than eight percent."
"Dang!" Yang went and is shocked to hear that, "That's lower than what Ruby gets in a pop quiz on our first term!"
"HEY!" Ruby is offended, "I wasn't prepared for some of those!"
Weiss puts away her Megadex, "At any point, we're gonna have to steer clear of the Cave of Legend for the time being. You have to be either insane or very good and lucky with the right Pokemon and equipment. In any case, we should avoid it until we're sure we're ready or someone did managed to get the right Pokemon we need to get home."
Over at the Cave of Legend, someone is crawling out with one hand with a torn-up glove as he grunts and puffs. The person coming out is Franklin, who is exhausted from getting all the way to the bottom as he holds his last master ball. He is covered in a few scraps and bruises with a few minor scabs visible through the holes in his clothes. His clothes his torn, weathered, and degraded after being in that cave for a while with his skin being pale from lack of sunlight.
After crawling himself back up to the surface, he howls, "WHO THE HECK MADE THIS STUPID CAVE?!"
Back in Kanto City, the Pokemon Contest is in full swing as fireworks are shot over an open stadium and everyone is waiting to see what is gonna happen.
"Hello, everyone of Kanto City!" Vivian Meridian says in the microphone, "It is wonderful being here in the Kanto Stadium for the Kanto City Pokemon Contest!"
Everyone cheer as they cannot contain their excitement.
"I am your hostess, Vivian Meridian! But let's go to our judges for this Contest. Give it up for the chief of the Pokemon Activities Committee that made this possible; Mr. Contesta!"
The crowd cheers as Mr. Contesta says, "Kanto City. A beautiful city dedicated to the Kanto Region heritage and such a lovely place."
"And give it up for the president of the Pokemon Fan Club, Mr. Sukizo!"
"Kanto City, remarkable."
Say something else will you!
"And lets not forget Kanto City's very own, Nurse Joy!"
"I love this city! Especially the mochi. And the Pokemon under my care love it, too."
In the dressing room, everyone gets ready for their time on stage as they get dressed along with their Pokemon. Ruby is getting stage fright again with Weiss telling her to get over it.
Yang brushes her hair as she talks to Blake, "So, if Kanto City has stuff from, you know, the Kanto Region; do you think Sinnoh City has the Aura Guardians?"
Blake brushes her hair, "Hard to say. The Megadex say that Aura Guardians are rare and hard to find these days. You also said that the stuff is vague in the Megadex."
"Hmm..." Yang puts her brush away and look at Blake, "Perhaps we should take a look at Sinnoh City after the contest and gym battles. Maybe we can find some old archives, or maybe someone that know more about them."
Blake stops and looks at Yang, "Actually, I was hoping we would visit an old castle called, Oda Castle."
"We can find information there?"
Blake blushes a little, "In truth, I want to see much of the architecture. A wooden castle that has been around for a thousand years. How could you not take interest in that?"
"Might be worth a look."
One of the staff comes in, "Miss Weiss Schnee? You're up."
Weiss says, "Thank you." and heads on out to the stage to do the performance round.
Vivian says, "Give it up for our next coordinator, Weiss Schnee!"
The crowd cheers as Weiss enters.
Weiss then pulls out her Pokeball in a capsule with an electrical bolt seal on it and throws, "Go, Ronald!"
What came out of the Pokeball along with static electricity is a large beetle Pokémon with a light brown belly, two dark brown hands, with brownish-yellow arms, three claws on each hand and a spike protruding from each wrist and two brownish-yellow legs. It has a large brownish-yellow horn on its head, with a barb on each curved end. A darker brown shell covers its back, with two leaves similar to wings. It also has two leaves for what seem to be ears.
"And it looks like Weiss is using a Stickut!"
Stickut. The Earwig Pokemon and the evolved form of Stickit. Bug and grass-type. Only one Stickut inhabits each tree in the forest. If another Stickut appears, they'll fight to toss their opponent off. The victor stays while the loser seeks a new tree.
AN: This Pokemon is from Pokemon Solar Light & Lunar Dark.
"Use razor leaf!" Weiss ordered.
Ronald, Weiss' Stickut, leans back before throwing himself forward that causes razor leaves to come out. The leaves then come back.
"Use struggle bug!"
Ronald has his body produce a bright green aura around his body that stopped the razor leaves in place while they're still spinning.
"Wow!" Vivian is surprised, "Stickut uses struggle bug to hold the razor leaves in place! That's definitely a new one!"
The audience are in total awe and so are the judges.
"Now swoop it all up with horn attack!"
Ronald then fires both the razor leaves and the struggle bug before its horn glows silver as he have both attacks infuse into his horn. His horn glows a light green color along with the razor leaves that now swirl around it.
"My goodness! Stickut's horn have absorbed its own attacks and infuse it to create such raw power!"
Everyone is in awe again by Ronald's combination.
"Now release!"
Ronald then releases the a powerful beam from its horn up in the air as the leaves are scattered and turn into green fireworks.
"That was amazing!" Vivian is blown away, "Now that's the way the Pokemon Contest should be! Let's see what our judges think."
Mr. Contesta: 10
Mr. Sukizo: 10
Nurse Joy: 10
"Look at those scores!" Vivian says as the audience cheer, "You can't get any higher than that! Although, I wish there would!"
Mr. Contesta explains, "I never knew that there could be combinations like that in all my years as a judge for the Pokemon Contests. That move that Weiss' Stuckut did was truly refreshing as that beam of light reminds me of summer with the beam being the trunk and the fireworks being the leaves."
Mr. Sukizo says, "Remarkable." SAY SOMETHING ELSE, YOU BROKEN RECORD!
As for Nurse Joy, "The way Stuckut launched that incredible beam of green light and those razor leaves exploding reminds me of a festive holiday and reminds me of my trip to Celadon City."
"Now those are some amazing compliments! But we still have some more coordinators that want to try their luck for the eight slots!"
The contest continues with one boy and his Bakpakrat. A Pokemon that is a chubby rodent with a dopey face and a backpack made of leaves and twigs as it does some juggling and pull random stuff from its backpack. A young girl has a Montegrew doing a few tricks with vine whips and leech seeds. A Pokemon that looks like an evil dandelion weed with yellow petals on its cuffs and neck.
Bakpakrat. The Nomadic Pokemon and the evolved form of Pakrat. Normal-type. Bakpakrat are nomadic, wandering the region, so they can deliver mail to humans and Pokémon alike.
Montegrew. The Feuding Pokemon and the evolved form of Growmeo. Grass-type. When Montegrew falls out of love, it turns bitter and spiteful. It will begin shunning the Capulilly it once loved, whom it now sees as vain and pompous.
AN: Bakpakrat is from Pokemon Umbra. Montegrew is from Pokemon Sage.
"Now give it up for our next performance, Ruby Rose!"
The audience cheer and applaud for Ruby's appearance. She holds a Pokeball with a bubbly seal on it as she takes a few deep breaths.
She throws it, "Come on out, Cuppy!"
The Pokemon that pops out is a Cuppa. It is a round, green kappa-like Pokémon. It has a red cross marking on its yellow belly and a yellow and white "sara" (plate). It has a small yellow beak and yellow feet. Its eyes look like they are shut. This Pokemon dances in a jolly manner among the bubbles.
"And it looks like Ruby's Pokemon is a Cuppa, who made a very adorable entrance!"
Cuppa. The kappa Pokemon. Water-type. It likes to float by the waterside with most of its body underwater, making itself look like just a white ball.
AN: This Pokemon is from Pokemon Vega.
"Alright, Cuppy!" Ruby sounds excited, "Use water sport!"
Cuppy releases a stream of water from its body all around the field.
"Now use aqua jet!"
Cuppy is then surrounded by aqua jet while still doing water sport at the same time as Cuppy flies around the field, spraying it with water.
"Whoa! Look at what Ruby's Cuppa is doing! Now that's what I call, 'a water sport'."
"Now use diamond blast!"
Cuppy then shoots out diamond-like projectiles that captured much of the water inside of them as Cuppy stands on the large diamond while dancing on it. Once the diamonds land on the field, Cuppy then rolls on them, like it is sliding.
"Now Cuppa is roll sliding down the diamonds! I'm getting dizzy from looking at it!"
The diamonds then shatter into pieces as water spills out.
"Aqua jet, one more time!"
Cuppy then uses aqua jet as he scoops all the diamond shards and flies up in the air. What happens next is that Cuppy stops using aqua jet that not only captured the diamonds, but also polish them. The diamond shards then explode into blue sparkles as Cuppy does a joyous dance. Ruby runs up to the center of the field and catches Cuppy into her arms, do a twirl, and smile cheek-to-cheek. The audience cheer for not only the performance, but the cuteness Ruby brought.
"Now that was amazing! Exhilarating and with a cute finish! Let's see what our judges have to say."
Mr. Contesta: 8.9
Mr. Sukizo: 9
Nurse Joy: 10
"And look at those scores!" Vivian approaches Nurse Joy, "Nuse Joy, you gave Ruby and her Cuppa a high score out of the other judges. How come?"
Nurse Joy answers with a blush, "Sorry, but I just couldn't help myself with that adorable finish so I have to give them a high score. I do have a softness for cuteness."
Mr. Contesta says, "We're here to conduct bias judging, Nurse Joy. But I have to admit, the bond between Ms. Rose and her Cuppa is very strong."
Mr. Sukizo says, "Adorable and remarkable." At least he said something else.
The performance round is only half-way finished as Ruby and Weiss have high scores. But will Blake and Yang succeed? Find out next time!
