Just wanted to do another Angel/Nina fic.
Disclaimer: I do not own Buffy: The Vampire Slayer or Angel.
"So, what did you tell Jill and Amanda this time?" Angel asked as they drove towards a cabin in the woods, with the windows sunproofed to protect Angel.
"Just that I met a guy and I'm trying things out with him. Jill was happy for me, honestly." Nina said before sighing. "I hate lying to her and Mandy, so I'm telling them as much truth as I can."
Angel nodded. It was a reasonable solution. He then looked into her eyes, seeing how conflicted she was. "How you deal with your secret is up to you but I told you, you can't shut everyone out, otherwise the beast inside you wins."
"I know that. It's just… I wish there was an easy way for this." Nina said.
"If there was an easy way for this, we wouldn't really be where we are." Angel said and Nina nodded, realizing he was right. "The werewolf doesn't have to define you, just as the vampire doesn't have to define me, even if the monsters are a part of us now."
"I tried the meditation thing Oz taught me. Sometimes it works… sometimes it doesn't." Nina said.
"You'll get the hang of it." Angel assured before he put on a hood, sunglasses and a mask to protect himself from sunlight as he and Nina went out and entered the cabin.
"You cook well." Nina noted as she ate the potatoes and roasted beef and well, it was one time, when the heightened werewolf senses were useful to her.
"I've got a lot of experience." Angel said as they both chuckled and kissed before Nina noticed how he stared at her upon pulling away.
"What?" Nina asked.
"I never thought we… I could get…" Angel gestured. "This."
"A normal life with a…" Nina paused, knowing they were far from normal. "Good girlfriend?"
"I'll take that but yeah." Angel said. "Maybe we can't get the classic normal anymore but we can get as close to it as we can get."
"Acceptable happiness, right?" Nina asked.
"Acceptable happiness." Angel nodded.
They were watching a film on TV, while Nina rested her head on Angel's shoulder before they entered the basement and Nina took off her clothes and stripped herself, while Angel locked her in the cage and Nina placed her clothes at the edge to put them on in the morning.
"You OK?" Angel asked.
"Yeah." Nina said, not helping herself but to cover her breasts with her arms, even though Angel had seen her naked already, shuddering from the cold before they kissed.
"See you in the morning." Angel said.
"See you in the morning." Nina said before Angel locked the cage. Nina waited for a few moments before she grunted and fell on her knees, feeling herself changing before everything became a blur.
Nina groaned as she felt sore, the leaves and timber and cold wind prickling on her skin and the warmth of the sunlight on her face, when her eyes opened and she realized that she wasn't in a cage but on the outside, in the woods. She had gotten used to waking up in a cage but waking up out there, naked, was like the worst hangover she could ever get. She then noticed that she had some raw meat in her mouth and it tasted disgusting as she retched and vomited.
"Oh, God…" She groaned as she got up on her feet, suppressing the headache and placing her arm across her breasts and her other hand in between her legs, while trying to shake off the dirt, timber and leaves on her skin and her hair. She looked around, realizing she was in the middle of the woods and then horror filled her upon realizing that she was out on the loose. She didn't smell any blood around, so maybe she didn't kill anyone, much to her relief but another matter altogether was to find herself some clothes and get back to Angel. She tried to walk but it was irritating to walk with bare feet in the woods, with the timber prickling all over her naked skin.
After half an hour, Nina started to feel tired and disoriented and her feet started to bleed from stepping on too many broken twigs and fallen leaves and what was worse that the headache didn't subside until she felt dizzy and collapsed to the ground.
When Nina came to, she was in a tent in a sleeping bag before noticing she was wearing a gown.
"Ah, you're awake."
Nina gasped as a young woman around Nina's age entered, wearing a jacket and jeans.
"Really, you hippies must have crazy ideas."
Nina blinked, before realizing what had happened. "No. I'm not a—"
"You don't do drugs? So, nudist?" The woman inquired and Nina blushed. "Were you drinking? Because really, you seemed completely out of it. Must've been a wild party last night for you." She noted as Nina chuckled. She obviously couldn't tell the truth, so she tried to stick as close to it as she could.
"You could say that. Things kinda didn't go my way and instead got out of my control." Nina said, while the woman looked amused and nodded.
"I'd say. That's what lightweights get for trying booze, I've seen people do crazier stuff when they're wasted, trust me, my ex would give you a run for your money." The woman said and Nina suddenly realized something.
"Were there any wild animals last night around here and dead bodies?" Nina asked.
"I heard some wolves howl but if there was a dead body, the wildlife service would be all over it by now. It's almost noon." The woman noted.
Nina sighed in relief, glad to know she didn't kill anyone last night apparently but she knew she had to call Angel, since he was most likely worried about her. "Hey, do you have a phone? I need to call my boyfriend, he's probably worried about me."
After a quick bath in the lake to clean herself up and being given new clothes, which were a squared shirt, jeans and shoes, Nina made her way back to Angel's cabin, while she noticed a man in a black hood and a mask with sunglasses, which looked very suspicious and Nina was on guard before realizing that the man's stature was familiar until the man approached her and lowered his mask and put up his sunglasses to reveal Angel's face as he sighed in relief.
"I was worried about you." Angel said.
"How… how did I get out?" Nina asked.
"I didn't hear any growling, so I checked and you somehow bashed your way out through the wall. But it was almost impossible to track you at night." Angel explained before Nina looked panicked. "I found some dead rabbits and deers but… I think you didn't kill any human. I looked around and there was no one but us out there last night." He assured and Nina relaxed and sighed in relief.
"Some woman who was camping found me in the morning and thought I was partying a little too hard." Nina explained.
"If only." Angel said as they both chuckled before Nina nudged him in the shoulder.
"But here I am, safe and sound. Next time we should try a safe cage in downtown instead of out in the woods." Nina said.
"Or maybe we could ask Oz to help to teach you to control it." Angel said.
"Maybe in a month." Nina noted, since the full moon cycle was gone for now. Angel held Nina's hand as they walked down the woods back to their cabin.
After the mess with Cordelia, Gwen (even though I prefer Gunn/Gwen) or Nina could've worked for Angel easily, since they had good chemistry and interactions together. Angel/Cordelia is OTP for me but Nina also works. Pity Angel was cancelled, since I would've loved to see Oz and Nina interact and the follow-up comics are all a mixed bag and in there Nina faded into the background, when she left after After The Fall comics and got married.
So, what do you guys think?
Please review and let me know if you have enjoyed this one-shot.
