Guest: Slade for sure. Like with Cap vs. Myers, the superhero here has shown better strength and speed feats than the horror movie character, plus Slade has a healing factor himself to boot, along with skills, Jason doesn't have much of a chance here really.

Chapter 7- Return of the Witch

Avengers Compound

Paige put the Book of Shadows on the table as Natasha asked. "So this is the book of your family line, right?"

"Yeah, most coveted one too out of all such books", Paige told Natasha and Steve, who was cooking nearby. "Even when I stopped, I couldn't leave it behind, didn't want bad guys getting it."

She sighed and added. "Or guess I couldn't leave myself behind completely."

"It's part of you, like your magic, you can never leave part of yourself behind", Natasha told Paige genuinely, already liking her now due to what kind of woman she seemed to be.

She actually reminded her of someone else, Natasha thought to herself as she looked at Steve for a second.

Steve eventually made some food for them all and walked out, holding out 2 plates as he put them down for Paige and Natasha, then went back and returned with one of his own, sitting down with it.

"Thanks", Paige said, looking at her food.

"We all could use some", Steve told her, though he really meant her, because while not emaciated or anything, she didn't look the healthiest either, perhaps due to the lifestyle she'd been living in her depression, which she had only now started recovering from. "We need it."

"Yeah", Paige nodded, taking a bite at last as Natasha ate hers too.

"This is good", Natasha commented. "I don't know if I've said this before but you're a hell of a cook, Cap."

"Yeah, I like it too", Paige said with a nod. "Nice work here."

"Thanks", Steve said, eating his own. "So, this book, what do you have in there?"

"I imagine I could find something there to take a Darklighter this powerful out. I mean, it doesn't have everything but it does have a lot of stuff", Paige told him, looking through it all. "We'll get something."

"You don't have to do this alone though, like I said before", Steve told Paige. "You have your sisters' powers, you can learn to master them as well."

"And hand to hand combat", Natasha added. "That's the important part, learn some of that too, would be good for you."

"Yeah, Phoebe was the martial artist out of us as she was magically the weakest at the start, she once defeated an FBI agent who was a Witch Hunter", Paige said, making the two look at her.

"Really?"

"Really."

"And here we thought only Hydra was a part of the government", Steve commented with folded arms. "Well, anyone else we should be worried about?"

"Not that I know of myself", Paige said with a sigh. "But anyways, Prue was a martial artist too from what I've heard, she was pretty much a Super Witch and a great martial artist. In the beginning I was trying to follow in her footsteps before realizing I need to be my own person."

"Following in someone else's footsteps never ends well, we all need to be our person", Steve agreed with Paige on that. "That's how we can be the best of ourselves, who we are meant to be, not who we are supposed to be."

"Wise words", Natasha quipped. "And yeah, following is not a good thing, trust me, I know." She sounded grim as she said that and Steve had a feeling he knew why, it was clearly a Red Room reference.

"Well, Rennek may be gone for now but since he's not dead, he can come back anytime he wants", Paige told Steve and Natasha. "So we will have to be ready for him, which means I do need to train properly in my new powers and also the hand to hand stuff to give myself a bit of an edge from who I was before. I mean, I did get some training due to being a trainee cop for a bit, but I can do better."

"We can help, at least with the hand to hand part", Natasha assured Paige. "For the magic stuff, not so sure, other than dummies for practice and all that stuff, not sure how that would go."

"No, you two don't need to be any practice dummies or anything", Paige assured both of them. "Just, the freezing and unfreezing I'll have to get a hang on, maybe learn the blowing up thing too, though I doubt I'd really be able to perfect it all in a short time, since I know Rennek won't take that long, or I'd be much more of a threat to him than I am right now."

"Any of Phoebe's powers you think can help you in this situation?" Steve inquired as he looked at Paige. "I mean, the premonitions are their own thing unless you learn to master them, but anything else?"

"Well, flying of course, but won't make too much of a difference in a fight", Paige said with a shrug. "Then there's her empathy powers but I don't feel those, I can't feel what others around me are feeling right now, so I doubt I would be able to use those powers really, besides, too many powers in one person in a short span of time, won't end very well, if you get what I mean about that."

Both of them nodded, as Paige was making a good point about that stuff for sure.

"I'm guessing these powers in you are like they were in your sisters when they first got powers", Steve noted. "They wouldn't be masters of their powers from the start, right?"

"Yeah, Piper had to learn how to freeze and unfreeze, and Phoebe's premonitions were quite random, both had to learn a lot", Paige said with another nod. "I'll have to try to be half as good, but at least I should start getting proficient with what I do know about all of this."

"Well then, it's time to start then", Natasha said. "All of the training."

And the training had now begun.

Natasha held out a dagger, to throw it at Paige, to test her powers. Of course Steve was there and would protect both from serious harm if it got too far.

Natasha then threw the dagger as Paige held out her hand. "Dagger!"

It orbed into her hand as Natasha reminded. "You were supposed to freeze it or blow it up, not orb it to your hand."

"Right, sorry", Paige said lamely as she returned it to Natasha.

"3, 2, 1, go", Natasha said as she threw it again and Paige held out her hand but this time couldn't freeze the dagger as Steve kicked it away in time from her to a corner.

"Thanks", Paige panted and Steve simply nodded.

Steve and Paige took positions, Steve relaxing himself a little as he wanted to see what Paige could do, and Paige herself was a bit more alert in comparison as she was going to go all out.

She had started liking spending time with Steve and listening to him in these past few weeks, and these combat lessons, they would put the two closer, and Paige found the prospect…..pleasant, for a lack of better word.

Really? Wow.

Paige then threw a punch which Steve easily blocked, and he was holding back. She tried to punch again but Steve blocked once more, then leaned back to avoid another one of hers.

She kicked high but he grabbed her foot, then let it go. "You have some basic knowledge, yes, but not very useful against many opponents, or just one skilled opponent. You need to work on both strength and speed."

"Teach me", Paige said as Steve nodded and grasped her hand, which made Paige shiver for a second due to contact, just a second.

If Steve felt it, he gave no indication.

She closed her hand into a fist as Steve used it to hit his palm. "Now that, that's a weak one."

Paige nodded and this time punched the hardest she could. Steve wasn't a normal man but if he was, his hand would have been pushed back while feeling pain too.

"That was good", Steve told her. "Now, let's work on postures and all that, and certain moves, you get me there."

"Yeah", Paige nodded as both of them took another posture, with Steve then correcting hers, both of them realizing they liked this proximity, even if they didn't say it.

Paige jumped up in the air but realized she wasn't hovering or anything so she orbed away and ended up on the chair instead. "Yeah, this doesn't work yet."

"Maybe you should jump out the window instead", Natasha suggested.

"Nat!" Steve said, annoyed.

"What? I think threat to her life can work", Natasha told both of them, then turned to Paige. "Don't hate you, I want the best for you, so I'm suggesting you try, only if you want to that is, no one is forcing you."

"Maybe I can", Paige shrugged as she opened a window and jumped out.

"PAIGE!" Steve yelled as her screaming was heard and next moment, she orbed back in front of them.

"Okay, didn't work, flight is a no-go for now."

Steve moved forth and struck out his elbow before doing a little kick.

Paige watched how he did, then she too moved forth and struck out her elbow before doing a kick herself.

"There was a little problem with the elbow", Steve told her as he walked forwards and struck out his elbow again, letting Paige watch carefully.

"Right", Paige stepped forwards and struck out her own elbow too, but there was still a little problem with her angle and posture.

"Here", Steve grasped her elbow and waist, correcting the posture, and once more, both of them felt their heart rates rise for just a second at the physical contact that had been made between them both.

"Let me do it again", Paige said as she moved forwards and struck out her elbow before sending a kick, and this time her posture and movement had been perfect.

"Great job", Steve said as both of them smiled while looking at each other, and seemed to be lost in each other's eyes for a few seconds.

Then they heard a polite cough and turned to see Natasha, and both did not look at each other again as they decided to do something else.

"Come on", Natasha said as she threw the dagger once more, and Paige held out her hands, this time managing to freeze it midair.

"Wow!" Paige said, a smile on her face as the dagger did not move at all. "I did it! I-"

And then the dagger sped at her again and she gasped as Steve kicked it away in time.

"Didn't do it", Paige finished lamely.

"You can though", Natasha assured Paige and she nodded.

Paige brewed a little potion, taking a look at the recipe from the Book of Shadows.

"What is it?" Steve asked her out of curiosity.

"A vanquishing potion, may not work due to Rennek's added powers but thought I'd still give it a try at least when he does come around", Paige told Steve. "Can never be too prepared."

"Can't disagree with that", Steve agreed as he sat down next to her. "You're learning quite well."

"Not that well", Paige said while shaking her head.

"Oh no, you are", Steve assured her. "I know because when I first came out of ice, Nat trained me in modern combat too, and she said outside of me, you are her best student. Both of ours technically, but you get the point."

"Really? She said that?" Paige asked.

"She did", Steve nodded truthfully. "You are a good woman, Paige. Never forget that, that's your true power."

"I forgot it once", Paige said with a sigh. "Not again."

They shared another smile.

"Come on", Natasha said as she threw the dagger again, and Paige held out her hands once more, and this time it froze.

Paige held her hands out for a minute more, looking at the dagger closely, and this time, it did not move.

One more minute.

Still frozen.

"You did it", Steve said as he plucked the dagger out of the air.

"I did", Paige said, now having a little smile of pride. "I did it."

"Yeah, we knew you could do it", Natasha told her.

Paige struck out a kick which Steve leaned back to avoid, and then she tried to elbow in a spin motion which Steve easily blocked before gently pushing her to the front.

He then tried to punch, not his best one though, and she blocked this one. This was Steve holding back to be like a normal man.

"Good job", Steve told Paige and they smiled at each other again.

All three were sitting outside the Compound, having a little fire going as Natasha said. "Been a long while since we did this."

"Last time was before Lagos", Steve said sadly, the three eating marshmallows from the fire.

"Yeah, me, my sisters and their husbands used to do this too", Paige said, lost in memory. "Could never have enough of those good times."

"And you never will again", Rennek said as he now orbed in front of them, smirking.

"There we go", Natasha sighed as she flipped off her chair and took cover while Steve and Paige both stood up.

Rennek again lifted his crossbow while telekinetically throwing both Steve and Natasha back, and he fired as Paige orbed it to her hand. "Bolt."

She threw it back but Rennek stopped it telekinetically and threw it to the corner before telekinetically lifting Paige up but she orbed away and reappeared on the ground.

"Crossbow", Paige said as she held out her hand and orbed the crossbow to her instead.

Rennek simply laughed and hurled an athame at Paige but she held out her hand and froze it instead, surprising Rennek as she smirked and then orbed it to her hand. "Athame!"

"You think I was missing for a week to give you preparation time?" Rennek asked in a taunting tone. "Wrong."

And then various other Darklighters appeared in next to him, all of them having their crossbows aimed as Rennek said. "The only remaining Charmed One, it was easy to convince them with that, and a potential Whitelighter too", Rennek's eyes turned to Steve who was now standing next to Paige, and the two of them and Natasha were all surprised. "That's right, you are a potential Whitelighter, Steve Rogers, but we won't give you the chance."

Natasha fired her gun but all of them were unaffected as the Darklighters fired their bolts but Paige held up her hands and used her orbs to create an orb shield, protecting all three, surprising their enemies again as Paige let the shield down and handed the athame to Natasha. "You can use it to take on them."

Natasha nodded as Steve then did a flip and kicked a crossbow out of a Darklighter's hands before decking him while Rennek fired an energy beam and Paige used electrokinesis to fight back, their beams clashing while the other Darklighters took aim but Natasha leapt and stabbed one with her athame, killing that one, while Steve used the crossbow he had like a melee weapon, smacking two of them back at the same time.

The clashing beams caused a small explosion that sent them all back and crashing to the ground. Paige and the two Avengers staggered up as Paige said. "There are too many of them."

"I can see that", Natasha said, twirling the athame. "Odds are against us."

"We'll have to play this carefully", Steve said as Rennek and his Darklighters started standing up again.

An imaginary lightbulb went off in Paige's head as she then asked. "Can you hold them back by yourselves for at least a minute?"

"We can, why?" Steve asked.

"I have a hunch", Paige said. "I'm just coming."

"Go!" Natasha said as a Darklighter fired at that moment and Paige orbed away, avoiding it.

"Where did she go?" Rennek asked, only for Steve to kick a chair at him, and he was hit before he could react and thrown off as the other Darklighters fired and both of them jumped away to avoid.

Paige appeared where she wanted to and saw it was still there, making her sigh in relief as she walked to it and held.

"Please work", she begged, and then pulled, and to her joy, it was pulled out.

"Yes", Paige muttered as she held it up high, before orbing away with it.

Natasha managed to take out one more Darklighter with the athame when another fired a bolt at her, and it would have hit her when suddenly Paige appeared and used a sword to deflect it away before slicing the Darklighter, killing him with it.

"What's that?" Steve asked as he deflected a bolt shot at him with the crossbow.

"Excalibur", Paige revealed, shocking both Steve and Natasha while Rennek glared.

Natasha started. "The one from the Ki-"

"Yes, that one", Paige nodded. "Camelot was real."

"Merlin too?" Steve asked.

"No he wasn't, still trying to wrap my head around that", Paige shrugged as she swung again and took another Darklighter down.

Another was about to fire when Paige threw Excalibur up and orbed it towards him, killing him instead before Paige orbed it back to herself.

"You really think you can defeat us all?" Rennek asked as he fired another blast at Paige but she deflected it with Excalibur, and she deflected two bolts too when Rennek pushed her off telekinetically before hitting her with a blast as Paige was sent flying back while Excalibur was sent up.

Steve, on instinct, held out his hand, and the sword flew to his hand, to all of their surprise.

Rennek's eyes widened in horror as Paige said. "Oh my God!"

"What?" Steve asked as he immediately used Excalibur to kill a Darklighter.

"That sword was supposed to be wielded by a descendant of King Arthur, Wyatt was one", Paige revealed, and everyone was shocked as they realized what this meant.

"I am too."

"Yeah", Paige said with a nod.

Steve looked shocked, as did Natasha, before he swung and took out another Darklighter, and Paige froze one, allowing Natasha to finish that one off.

"Damn it!" Rennek snarled as he fired a blast of magic at Steve but Paige orbed it to her hand and hurled it back at Rennek, throwing him off.

Steve marched to Rennek who got up and formed a sword of shadows, and swung as Steve blocked before pushing him back.

Steve swung and Rennek blocked before swinging twice as Steve ducked the first and blocked the second before spinning and elbowing Rennek back, and he then flip kicked him away.

Rennek threw Steve back telekinetically and snarled. "You are still outnumbered."

"Not for long", Natasha said as one Darklighter aimed at her, and then, on cue, lightning struck down on various Darklighters, killing them all instantly as next moment, Thor Odinson, holding Stormbreaker, landed on the ground, shaking it a little.

The Darklighters were now terrified. A Charmed One and two of the weaker Avengers they were prepared for.

But the God of Thunder? Hell no!

Before any of them could react, Thor rushed and swung his ax in a blur, killing various more effortlessly, while Paige held out her hands and chanted.

"This evil's power cannot fight

the good of my magic's might,

let hubris land him in hell

remove the powers of the one against Halliwell."

Rennek screamed as he felt his powers leaving him and fell to his knees in horror, then looked up to see Steve standing over him.

Steve swung Excalibur and in that moment, Rennek was destroyed forever.

Thor had finished killing the other Darklighters and noticed the sword. "Excalibur, the sword of King Arthur, I knew someone like you would his descendant, Steve."

"You know about this?" Steve asked in shock.

"My father met King Arthur once back in his time", Thor revealed. "And Merlin as well."

Paige was shocked. "I was told he's not real."

"He was, but after Camelot's fall, he felt he failed so he became a recluse and downplayed his own actions in Camelot's history', Thor explained to her.

"Right", Paige nodded. "Nice to meet you, Thor."

"Honored to meet you too, Charmed One", Thor said as he held out his hand and Paige shook it.

"Thanks for the help Thor", Natasha told him with a smile and he nodded.

"I shall always be here to help", Thor assured them all, then turned grim. "First I was falling into despair, I wanted to give up, then a Demon tried to steal Stormbreaker. I killed him, and in that moment I realized even if I failed, I can still make a difference now, no matter how little it is."

"Yes, you can", Steve agreed, looking at Excalibur in his hands. "What should I do with this?"

That was when Sandra orbed in once more. "Congratulations on the victory."

"Funny how you came in after the victory", Paige quipped as Sandra looked uncomfortable.

"You are not just the descendant of King Arthur", Sandra said as she turned to Steve. "You are his reincarnation."

Now all were absolutely floored by this revelation.

"Well damn!" Steve managed to use a bit of language this time.

"Language…your Highness!" Natasha jokingly said as Steve shot her a mock glare.

"Really?" Paige asked Sandra. "He is-"

"Yes, he is", Sandra confirmed with a nod. "Steve Rogers is King Arthur's reincarnation, and a great man himself like the King."

"Huh?" Steve muttered, unsure of how to respond. "Thanks…"

"You just keep surprising us all", Thor put an arm around Steve with a laugh.

"Use it well", Sandra told Steve before orbing away.

"Keep it", Paige also said to Steve with a smile. "For now, it belongs to you, so keep it."

Steve was still unsure. "But I-"

"I think you are worthy of it, Captain", Thor spoke up. "You should keep it, its an honor wield a weapon like that. And you are King Arthur's reincarnation himself, you were destined to wield it"

Steve considered, then nodded. "Thank you."

"And you're a Potential Whitelighter too, how could I not see that coming? You have all qualities required to be one", Paige told Steve, looking at him in awe. "So Potential Whitelighter and King Arthur's reincarnation."

"I'll try not to disappoint", Steve told her with a smile, as they looked into each other's eyes, and both Natasha and Thor noted that.

"So, we're gonna go have some food inside, wanna come?" Natasha offered Thor.

After a few seconds consideration, Thor nodded.

"I think eating will help me process what I've just discovered", Steve commented and chuckles followed.

"Very well", Paige said, as all walked inside.

The Witch had returned now at last.

So there we go, Rennek is taken down now.

So yeah, Steve is King Arthur's reincarnation in this fic, thank you to Brainstorm Sorcerer for that idea.

Plus come on, how can Steve not be a Potential Whitelighter?

As for Thor, we can all agree Bro Thor sucked and so I changed that with the little 'Demon trying to steal Stormbreaker' thing, thank you to Marcus S. Lazarus for that suggestion there.
