From the start to the Rennek arc, this was Paige-centric, now its going to be Steve-centric, and this arc shall be based on the movie 'Universal Soldier: Regeneration', and thanks a lot to Brainstorm Sorcerer for his help here.

Chapter 9- A new job

Ukraine

Two children, a boy and a girl, who were brother and sister, were coming out of the school, with some bodyguards around them, because these two kids were the children of the Ukrainian Prime Minister.

They were led to the car where a bodyguard stood in front of the car. Then suddenly an armored car rammed into that car, sending it into the bodyguard in the front who was sent flying up into the air and killed.

The armored car's doors opened as men in masks aimed semi-automatics and fired, instantly killing the bodyguards before they could react, the kids screaming.

One guy walked out and pulled the kids into the armored car before they all drove away.

There was one bodyguard still left as he came in the car's way and tried to fire but it was too fast so the guy rolled away while the car ended up on the road, the two kids still screaming.

The driver maneuvered it, avoiding hitting other cars, and then they turned around to see the bodyguard following them in another car.

The guy on the back stuck his head out and fired multiple times, overturning that car before getting back inside, and then they heard the siren of police cars, there were two of them coming.

One car got to their side and the cop fired, destroying the glass as the guy on the back was hit on his shoulder but he didn't even feel it, and fired back at the police car, killing the cop, and only then did he notice his wound.

They drove into a barricade of cop cars, and the driver backed up but the cops fired and he was hit in the head, dying, so the other one on the passenger's side dove out and fired at the cops, killing most of them as they looked to the side to see a helicopter land.

So he and the guy behind who'd been shot got out, still holding the kids, and fired at the cops, getting them, and then ran, though the guy from the passenger's seat also died of a headshot, but the guy with the shoulder wound reached the helicopter and pushed both the kids in before getting in, and it flew off, the guy's gun trained on the two kids.

Later, the Ukrainian Prime Minister with his wife and an aide watched a video that had been sent to them by Commander Topov, who had now defected to the terrorists' side, and during this time the terrorists had also taken over the crippled Chernobyl Power Plant.

"You know my comrades, you put them in prison, release them in 72 hours or your children die", Topov threatened the Prime Minister. "And we detonate a bomb in the power plant."

And then Topov activated the timer on the bomb, and it started counting down as the video ended.

At the plant, Dr. Wilfred Nagel looked around as the other terrorists set up the supplies, and then the helicopter came down, with the 2 kids being led out and pushed away, while the man in the mask took off his mask to reveal he was Emil Blonsky.

The entire process that had turned him Super Soldier and then Abomination had been reversed, and sometime after the Decimation, he had escaped prison, and had now been recruited by Nagel who had given him a modified version of the Super Soldier Serum, making him superhuman once more, though nothing compared to when he was Abomination.

Blonsky was led inside into a room and laid down, his shirt taken off as Nagel operated on him, pulling the bullet out while Blonksy did not respond at all to any sensation he was receiving.

Avengers Compound

Natasha watched the news of the abduction and bomb-planting. She wanted to call Rhodes but he had been sent by the army on a mission which they didn't want to pull him out of, so that left them, which wasn't much right now.

"Oh God", she muttered.

At the plant, some trucks stopped as Ukrainian soldiers stepped out, and some helicopters came down as US Soldiers arrived to help out, as the Prime Minister had requested aid, and so the President had sent his forces to help out.

The soldiers from both the armies moved forwards, now opening fire as they shot down many of the terrorists and moved further in, splitting up in the plant.

"They're in", Sharon said to the rest from the point where she and they were monitoring this.

One soldier moved around, his gun held out, and he was wearing glasses through which everything around could be seen.

When he turned, Blonsky was suddenly in front of him, and Blonsky knocked him down.

"Huh?" Sharon's eyes narrowed. "That's Emil Blonksy!"

The soldier stood up and punched Blonsky but was kicked down, and Blonsky then punched him twice before a dagger popped out of his left gauntlet, which he used to stab the soldier.

Sharon called out. "Tell the others to pull back right now!"

"No, the kids have to be rescued!" A higher-up said as Sharon groaned.

Another soldier was moving around when he turned to see Blonsky who kicked him away, and then he leapt and kneed his face, sending him down, before taking out the dagger and stabbing him, killing that one too.

Blonsky then turned to see another soldier who fired but Blonsky ran off to avoid, rolling away, and leapt onto a higher platform before leaping down, kicking the guy's face as he was sent down, and then picking him up, hung him on a hook, killing him as well.

The last one was walking around when Blonsky leapt and kicked his face. The guy tried to fire but Blonsky was unaffected due to having heavy body armor, and he kicked the gun away before lifting him up and slamming him down, and then he broke the guy's head by stomping hard on it.

Sharon and the rest sighed sadly as the mission had been a bust.

Blonsky walked out and fired at the other army people, killing all of them one by one as one of them tried to ram a vehicle into him but they were killed too.

This rescue mission was a complete failure.

Steve and Paige returned to the Compound from another date and saw Natasha watching the news grimly and told the two. "This is bad, they have Blonsky with them, he killed the whole rescue team."

The two sighed sadly when they heard footsteps and turned to see Sharon walking in. "Hi Steve."

"Sharon", Steve greeted as they shared a little hug.

"Natasha", Sharon greeted and Natasha gave a nod.

Sharon turned to Paige. "And you are-"

"Paige Matthews."

"Right", Sharon nodded, as Steve felt a bit awkward due to these two interacting.

"You're an Avenger too?" Sharon asked Paige.

"You can say that", Paige shrugged.

"All right, nice to meet you", Sharon said as she held out her hand and Paige shook it.

"You too", Paige said before Sharon turned to Steve.

"You know what's going in Ukraine?" She asked.

"Yeah", Steve nodded.

"They want you to come in", Sharon informed Steve. "They want Captain America now."

Steve's face was an emotionless mask.

Steve was later sitting down as Paige sat down next to him. "What's the matter? You're doubting if you can help?"

"Captain America", Steve told Paige with a sigh. "I want to help, but Captain America, I am not that anymore I guess. I felt I didn't deserve the title anymore, but I also feel incomplete without it, or the shield."

"You know, it doesn't matter what you deserve or what you don't", Paige assured Steve as he looked at her. "Shield or no shield, suit or no suit, it doesn't change what you are, and you are a hero."

Steve looked at Paige as she continued. "Even if you don't see yourself as that anymore, you are a hero, and I know you won't rest until you save those kids."

Steve looked down, considering, then looked back up at Paige with a smile. "You know just what to say, you know that?"

"Learnt it from you", Paige said with a smile as they shared a kiss.

Natasha and Sharon were talking when Steve walked out with Paige behind him. "I'm coming, let's go."

Steve, now in his suit but without the shield, was in the army base now as Sharon showed him around. "Been a while since you had been here, right?"

"Yeah, but feels like I never left", Steve said when two soldiers, one tall and the other a little shorter and dark-skinned, stopped in front of him.

"Captain Rogers, honored to meet you, I am John Walker", the taller one introduced himself, holding out his hand, which Steve shook.

"The honor's mine, I've seen you on the news, you are quite the soldier", Steve complimented Walker.

"I followed your career, Captain, you have always been my inspiration, I modeled myself after you", Walker told Steve honestly.

"Well, I'm flattered but you don't need to be me in anyway, you're your own man", Steve assured Walker who nodded.

"Lemar Hoskins", the other introduced himself as he shook Steve's hand too.

"Nice to meet you", Steve told him too.

"Come on Captain", Sharon said as she led the three inside, and showed them details of the plant. "These are the points of entry, the terrorists are a problem, but there's also Blonsky, he is the biggest problem."

"We need to make this a stealth mission instead of forcing our way in", Walker suggested.

"Walker is right, a huge firefight can kill those kids too", Steve agreed with Walker on that. "I say not many are needed, one or two to rescue the children, and I shall take out the terrorists."

"Right on", Walker nodded, pointing at Steve as they shared a little smile.

"Yes, you two are not wrong", Sharon agreed there.

"So I'm guessing now we have to go", Lemar realized.

Ukraine

The Prime Minister sat in front of the camera and said. "We have accepted your demands, the prisoners you wanted shall be released, now please let my children go."

At the plant, Topov saw the whole thing and was happy. "We did it!"

All cheered as Topov drank a little with his men, then walked off, and was met by Wilfred Nagel.

"Congratulations", Nagel said.

"You're out", Topov said, making Nagel's eyes widen.

"What?"

"You are out", Topov shrugged. "Your usefulness is over now."

"But-"

"And Blonsky remains with us, you did not program his mind to harm us either way", Topov told him coldly and walked off as Nagel shook in rage.

Oh they were going to pay.

Blonsky may not harm them, but Nagel had other ways.

Walker arrived outside the plant, sneaking around as he looked for any terrorists that might spot him, and then hid nearby, before finding a terrorist walking to the front, and grabbed him from behind, muffling his screams, before he snapped his neck.

Walker then slowly and discreetly walked further, seeing two men relaxing near the fire, and one turned to him just as Walker attacked him, striking him with a knife and killing him.

The other tried to lift his gun but Walker grabbed his hands and tripped him before stabbing him to death.

He then walked further, seeing another terrorist roaming nearby, and rammed into him, pinning him to the wall, but the guy freed himself and tried to punch.

Walker blocked and kneed his gut before flipping him down and punched his face before shooting his face.

He then found a long underground sewer drainage pipe and snuck into there, crawling through.

Nagel started working on something.

Walker climbed out of the other side and sighed in relief before noticing the bomb above, and then he tapped into his comms. "How am I supposed to deactivate that thing?"

"No, just get the kids out, and do not engage", Sharon ordered Walker from her end.

"Roger that", Walker nodded as Blonsky walked nearby, and he turned to where Walker was hidden, but didn't see him, and walked off.

Nagel looked down at the figure lying on the bed, trying to revive it.

Walker came out of the plant, not having found the kids there, and snuck nearby towards another building, hiding behind a truck when a guy came out, then as he went in, Walker stood near the building, and activated a special device to listen for sounds.

On Sharon's side, the sounds were listened to and separated. "There's a female voice. This must be where the kids are."

Walker went into the building, seeing 2 drunks guys walking in his direction, and hid in a corner to avoid them before carrying on.

Topov was in his room, now having deactivated the bomb, when Nagel walked back in.

"Why are you still here?" Topov snarled at him.

"I'm not going till I get what I felt", Nagel shrugged at him.

"You testing me?" Topov dared as he drew his gun, making Nagel back off in fright.

"Easy", Nagel raised his hands as Topov walked closer.

Then suddenly another figure appeared behind Nagel, a tall man with no skin and a red face.

Topov was horrified. "What's this?"

"Red Skull", Red Skull introduced himself, holding his head.

"Not him, a clone, I had his DNA on me the whole time, and I used it to create this clone", Nagel revealed, to Topov's horror.

"HERE!" Topov called out as one guy came in to attack the Red Skull clone but Red Skull punched him so hard his face broke.

Topov then fired at Red Skull but his armor protected him as Red Skull rushed Topov and punched him down before punching the back of skull repeatedly. "The power of the Gods is not something you primitive men can understand."

Eventually, Topov's head was just a splatter of blood and brain.

"Good job, my specimen", Nagel complimented the clone, who glared at Nagel.

"I have great power", Red Skull ranted as he marched to Nagel. "Great power."

"What? Yes, you do, now sit-"

"Great power!" Red Skull said again and grabbed Nagel by the face, lifting him up as he screamed, and then Red Skull applied pressure as Nagel's skull exploded, killing him too.

"Hail Hydra!"

Well, most of its covered now, next chapter shall have some more stuff.
