Chapter 10- A kind of reunion
Walker opened the door and found the two kids, making them jump.
"It's all right, I am here to save you", he assured them. "Come on."
The kids nodded and walked out behind him as he again said. "Come on, stay behind."
"We will", the girl said as Walker held his gun out, looking around.
He then walked out and gestured to the kids. "Come on, let's go."
They ran out as Walker ran and they ran after him.
Red Skull saw the bomb and pressing some buttons, reactivated it.
The sun was rising now, and Blonsky walked around, now seeing the bodies of other men as he realized there was an intruder now.
Walker snuck through the area with the kids, getting into a small building, then heard footsteps and hid near the wall, hiding the kids with him, and when the guy was gone, they rushed further, none noticing Blonsky having seen them from a hidden room nearby.
Steve now entered the base, holding Excalibur in one hand and a gun in the other, and he fired the gun, killing various terrorists, then rolled away to avoid some shots and swung Excalibur, taking two down before throwing it at one, killing him, and then he called Excalibur back before firing his gun around in a spin motion.
Some moved towards him a jeep and he rolled away to avoid before kicking the jeep so hard it rammed into a wall, crashing and taking out everyone inside it.
He then ran as more men came after him, and went through a small building before coming out and shooting one down and slicing the other.
Some more came at him when suddenly Paige orbed in and held out her hands, freezing the bullets.
"Thanks", Steve told her.
"No problem", Paige said as she plucked bullets out of the air while also freezing the men.
Steve went further in, shooting and killing some more, then hid in a room as two men came in, looking for him.
Steve then rushed out, using a knife to stab one, then threw it at the other, taking him down as well.
Some more came when Paige pointed her hands in the front but to her shock, instead of doing any freezing, a small pillar nearby exploded, the debris hitting them and sending them flying here and there.
"Wow!" Paige looked at her hands. "I just made it explode."
"Nice job", Steve said as he swiftly sliced down 4 more with Excalibur and Paige flipped and kicked one guy away before orbing a gun into her hand. "Gun."
Not breaking her flow, she spun and struck one guy's face with the gun before he could fire at her, managing to knock him out in the process while she froze another guy.
Walker snuck around with the kids, then looked down to see Steve blocking bullets with Excalibur and then using it to slice a guy.
"Nice sword", he muttered.
Paige then orbed another guy's gun away before freezing him as Walker wondered. "Who's that?"
He then shrugged. "Either way, good work."
Walker then turned and walked with the kids behind him, when suddenly Blonsky was there in front of them.
"RUN! RUN! GET OUT OF HERE!" Walker urged the kids as he fired at Blonsky who's armor protected him while the two kids ran off.
Blonsky then disarmed Walker and punched him away. Walker staggered around as another punch sent him rolling away.
Blonsky marched to him as Walker grabbed his foot in a hold but Blonsky punched his face twice, making him spit out blood as Walker let go and rolled away.
Blonsky then punched Walker thrice before Walker got behind him but Blonsky turned and punched him off again.
Blonsky then slammed Walker into a shelf, throwing it down, then threw Walker off as he took out an electric rod to fight.
Walker then struck Blonsky's foot twice, letting out two electric shocks which made Blonsky stagger as Walker leapt and grabbed him in a chokehold.
Blonsky recovered quickly and grabbing Walker, hurled him to the front before grabbing his neck and pinning him to the wall.
Blonsky then made to stab Walker when a gunshot rang out, breaking off his dagger from the gauntlet, and the surprise made him loosen his grip on Walker as Walker rushed off, seeing Lemar lowering his gun.
Lemar had infiltrated the area too and was supposed to help out Walker if he got in trouble, and give out any info.
"Thanks pal", Walker said as Lemar nodded and shot Blonsky a few more times, staggering him back.
"Let's go", Hoskins urged as both of them made away while Blonsky stood and growled.
Steve and Paige were walking around, and they entered a building which looked smashed, and walked further in, seeing some bodies before finding the Red Skull clone, looking the other way, with the 2 kids in a corner, cowering from him.
"Schmidt?!" Steve asked in surprise, horrified to see him as the clone turned to him.
"Captain, long time no see", the clone said to him, sounding exactly like the real deal.
"How are you still alive?" Steve asked, shocked.
"I…." Schmidt grabbed his head, now confused again as he didn't have any memories of that. "I…..I don't know."
Steve's eyes narrowed. He looked and sounded like Schmidt, but he just didn't feel like the same guy, who was he?
Paige narrowed her eyes and glowed before realizing what it was. "It's not Schmidt, Steve, it's a clone of him."
"Right", Steve realized, which explained how he didn't know of his own survival either.
"Hail Hydra!" Red Skull then chanted as he turned to the kids when Steve threw off the gun and rushing him, kicked his back, smashing him into the wall as the kids ran off.
Schmidt turned as Steve punched him then trapped his throat by his elbow, only for Schmidt to push him off.
Steve tried to punch twice but Schmidt blocked and as he tried to punch, Steve deflected his blow and turned him around again, trapping him in a chokehold. Schmidt then lifted Steve up and threw him into a wooden table, shattering that as Steve groaned.
Steve got back up and tried to spin kick Schmidt who backed to avoid, and then Steve tried to punch as Schmidt deflected before Steve kicked him into a wall, damaging it.
Steve tried to kick again but Schmidt avoided as the kick damaged the wall. Schmidt then grabbed Steve and slammed his head into a shelf, making the shelf shatter into pieces as the place shook, and then Schmidt tossed Steve away onto a small side table as it fell down along with the stuff on it.
Steve got back up and charged Schmidt, grabbing him by the waist and flipping them both down as they rolled and got back up. Schmidt then kicked Steve's face, who swung a few times as Steve dodged, but was elbowed on the face and kicked away again through a wall, shattering it as he fell into another side of the place.
Schmidt kicked some more of the broken wall, breaking it a little more, then walked to Steve and tried to kick but Steve grabbed his foot. Schmidt grabbed Steve by the back of the neck but Steve got up and pushed him off. He then drop kicked Schmidt, sending him flying into another wall that also broke and Schmidt fell on the other side.
Steve then rushed Schmidt who punched him, then grabbing him by the collar, turned him around and ran, slamming them both through one more wall.
Schmidt then punched Steve's face who punched his face thrice before punching his throat, making him let go. Schmidt got up as Steve spun and swept his feet from under him, making him fall down once more.
The two got back up as Schmidt grabbed Steve by the throat, running out through a door into the hallway where Steve head-butted him away. Steve then charged Schmidt who lifted him by the waist, but Steve punched his face, then elbowed it too.
The two struggled, rolling down some stairs again and got back up, struggling and slamming through another wall, and then Schmidt threw Steve off onto the railing where it broke a little and Steve rolled down while Schmidt rushed him but Steve again flipped him over and both fell down the stairs to the ground, rolling away.
They got back up, and both were very bloodied by now, and groaning and panting as well, but neither was going to give up in any way.
Steve suddenly kicked Schmidt who deflected, and then Schmidt deflected some more blows before Steve punched his abdomen and jumping, elbowed his face, sending him back. He then kicked Schmidt on the back of the knee, sending him down before punching his face, sending him back.
Schmidt got up, deflecting some kicks before one more got him on the face. Steve charged but Schmidt deflected his punch and punched him back before trying to kick, which Steve deflected.
Steve tried to kick but Schmidt spun and grabbed his foot, flipping him to the ground. Steve got up, deflecting another kick and charged Schmidt who blocked both of his punches, but was kneed in the gut. Steve grabbed him and kneed him a few more times.
Schmidt picked him up with a roar and charged but Steve kept elbowing his back as Schmidt threw him off to the other side. Steve got up but Schmidt charged and pushed him off again. Steve got up again, deflecting a punch before being kneed into the wall.
As Schmidt tried to knee again, Steve leapt away to avoid and punched Schmidt's face before kicking him there and trapping his face on the wall with his foot, only for Schmidt to grab Steve's foot and slam him into another shelf.
Schmidt then grabbed Steve in a chokehold from behind as Steve gritted his teeth, then elbowed Schmidt twice, making him let go, and grabbing his head, kneed his face, then rushing to the wall, ran up on it and flipping behind Schmidt, kicked the back of his knee before grabbing his face and kneeing it, sending him rolling away.
Schmidt got back up, deflecting Steve's blows before being hit on the knee, then he kicked Steve away. Schmidt then grabbed Steve by the throat, only for Steve to flip him to the other side with his foot.
Steve then tried to spin kick twice as Schmidt dodged and they deflected each other's punches again before Schmidt grabbed Steve's arm, only to get two hard punches on the face, making him let go, and Steve flipped him over again.
Schmidt tried to kick as Steve grabbed his foot and tripped him. He climbed on top of Steve from behind who elbowed his face, sending him rolling away. He got up and as Schmidt tried to get up, Steve kneed his face.
Schmidt tried to kick but Steve grabbed his foot and flipped him down before taking out Excalibur and used it to stab him through the heart, finally killing the clone once and for all.
This may not be the real one, but killing him was the right thing to do nonetheless.
The kids were now running from Blonsky when suddenly Paige appeared between them and held out her hands, freezing Blonsky right there before orbing Excalibur to her hand, which she then hurled at Blonsky, ending him too.
He may not be a warlock or Demon, but his actions made him as much a monster as they were, and working with the Avengers had made Paige realize sometimes she'd have to kill irredeemable humans as well.
She then orbed Excalibur back to her as Steve arrived while she told the kids. "You're all safe now."
They nodded before walking around and coming across the bomb, which was set to blow, and Paige froze that too before Steve diffused it.
The threat was over at last.
"I was not supposed to be here", Paige said with a wink and handed Excalibur back to Steve before orbing away, awing the two kids.
"Come on kids, let's get you home", Steve said as he led the two out, where he was met by Walker and Hoskins.
"Good job Cap", Hoskins complimented Steve, tapping his shoulder.
"You two as well", Steve assured, tapping their shoulders.
"We all know Cap wasn't alone here", Walker said, winking at Steve as he chuckled.
The kids returned to their parents, the job was done as Steve then returned to the US via helicopter, with Walker and Hoskins by his side, and Paige was there to greet him.
Walker, being a married man himself, understood true love when he saw it, and patted Steve's back as Steve turned to him, and Walker winked, indicating he knew Paige had been with Steve.
Steve exchanged looks with both Walker and Hoskins, tapping their shoulders gratefully, a brotherhood formed between the three, and then he walked out to Paige as she ran and hugged him, and he spun her around before the two shared a loving and passionate kiss.
Night time
Steve and Paige were in a different restaurant together, and this one had some music and slow dancing too.
"Thank you for the help earlier today", Steve said gratefully to Paige.
"It was the job", Paige said with a shrug. "Besides, you've done the same for me."
Steve nodded as they noticed the dancing couples, and Paige asked Steve. "Do you want to dance?"
"Not very good at it", Steve confessed to her.
"Me neither", Paige told him before holding out her hand. "Come on."
Steve held her hand as he and Paige walked to the stage and started slow dancing together, trying their best not to step on each other's shoes.
They gazed into each other's eyes, as Steve noticed how beautiful Paige looked, and the kindness that emanated from her eyes. It had been months now, they had grown quite close.
Exchanging smiles, Steve confessed. "I love you, Paige."
Paige seemed surprised, then schooled her expression before confessing. "I love you too, Steve."
They smiled at each other and kissed lovingly on each other's lips while dancing.
And with this, this arc ends too, thank you to Brainstorm Sorcerer for his help with this one again.
This Red Skull was just a clone with jumbled memories of the real one so he was a physical threat but nothing compared to the real deal.
Now we shall begin with the Time Heist in next chapter.
