Chapter 13- Assemble
Tony walked through the remains of the Compound before finding the unconscious Steve, "Come on, buddy. Wake up."
Steve gasped as he woke up and Tony said, "That's my man."
Holding out the shield, he said, "You lose this again, I'm keeping it."
"What happened?" Steve asked as he looked around.
"We messed with time. It tends to mess back." Tony said as he helped Steve up, "You'll see."
Paige then orbed next to them and said. "Seen it already, biggest way time has ever messed back."
"You okay?" Steve asked.
"Yeah, you?" Paige asked.
"Fine", Steve replied to her.
Thor was standing at an opening in the rubble and they walked next to him to see Thanos the Mad Titan sitting on a rock, fiddling with a stone with the Thanoscopter planted next to him and his helmet on it.
"What's he been doing?" Tony asked.
"Absolutely nothing." Thor said.
"Probably waiting for us", Paige noted.
"Where are the Stones?" Steve asked.
"Lost somewhere under all this." Tony said, "All I know is he doesn't have 'em."
"So we keep it that way." Steve said.
"You know it's a trap, right?" Thor asked.
"Yeah..." Tony said, "I don't much care."
"What I care about is not letting him take away everyone we care about again", Paige added.
"Good." Thor said, "Just as long as we're all in agreement."
Thor then raised both his hands as lightning flashed in his eyes and cracked in the sky darkened by the explosion's smoke. And then Stormbreaker flew into his right hand and Mjolnir into his left as lightning emanated from him and his armor formed around him along with his cape.
Paige raised her hand as her trident appeared while Steve too held his hand out and Excalibur flew to him, and he held it alongside his shield.
"Let's kill him properly this time." Thor declared.
The four marched towards him as one, slowly spreading out to surround him. Thanos looked at them and announced. "You could not live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me."
The four slowly surrounded Thanos as he said. "I thought by eliminating half of life, the other half would thrive. But you've shown me, that's impossible."
"And as long as there are those that remember what was, there will always be those that are unable to accept what can be." Thanos announced, "They will resist."
"Yep. We're all kinds of stubborn." Tony said.
"You get used to it", Paige snarled.
"I'm thankful. Because now, I know what I must do." Thanos said as he threw the rock away.
"I will shred this Universe down to its last atom." Thanos announced as he stood up and took his helmet from the top of his sword, putting it on, "And then...With the Stones you've collected for me, create a new one."
He picked up his Thanoscopter and said. "Teeming with life, that knows not what it has lost but only what it has been given."
"A grateful Universe." Thanos finished.
"Born out of blood." Steve pointed out in disgust.
"They'll never know it." Thanos coolly announced all of their doom as he prepared to fight all four of them at once. "Because you won't be alive to tell them."
"Because we won't let you do it again, you bastard", Paige sneered at him.
Thor bellowed a war cry as he and his weapons flashed with lightning while Tony formed a blade with his suit and jumped at Thanos who deflected with his sword, throwing him down as he rolled and recovered before Thanos deflected Steve's shield which he had thrown as well back at him and dodged Mjolnir thrown at him by Thor and then blocked Paige's trident and Excalibur in quick succession before he smacked Steve away by hitting his shield while Tony flew up before he kicked Thor away into a rock and punched Paige away and then Tony fired his repulsors which he blocked with his sword.
Thor then charged and clashed Stormbreaker with Thanos' sword before using Mjolnir to block another blow, and then tried to strike again as Thanos backed and kicked him away while Steve threw his shield which Thanos deflected as Steve caught it and leapt with Excalibur, Thanos blocking again as Steve spun and tried to strike again which Thanos blocked and kicked him as Steve put his shield in the way but was sent back.
Paige twirled her trident and fired lightning which Thanos spun away to avoid and then she charged, trying to strike with her trident as Thanos blocked, and they struggled, gritting their teeth before Paige did lightning teleportation and got behind Thanos, firing lightning but he spun away to dodge it once more while Tony flew at him and tried to punch but Thanos blocked in time and grabbing him, threw him at Paige as both of them were sent down.
Thor charged as Thanos leaned back to avoid a swing of his and then swung back as Thor flew up and jumped back to avoid it before firing lightning which Thanos barely dodged and then he punched Thor, sending his face the other way before kicking him away while Steve threw Excalibur which Thanos deflected and Steve caught before leaping at him with his shield but Thanos managed to bat him away as Steve landed, holding both weapons out.
Then suddenly Paige was in front of Thanos and fired lightning which he was about to avoid before he realized it went through him.
He then barely dodged as the real Paige tried to hit him with lightning from another angle but he had just barely avoided as a rock was shattered in his place by the lightning instead.
Thor got back up as Paige lightning teleported next to him while Tony landed and the back of his suit opened to reveal a new energy absorber as he said. "Okay, Thor. Paige. Hit me."
Thor roared and charging both Mjolnir and Stormbreaker, hit the absorber with a huge blast of lightning, and Paige twirled her trident and did the same, supercharging the suit as Tony fired eight overpowered repulsors at Thanos.
Thanos spun the Thanoscopter fast enough to deflect them all and walked closer. Thor threw Mjolnir up and used Stormbreker to bat it at Thanos.
However, Thanos grabbed Tony and lifted him up, putting him in the way. Mjolnir hit him and both Tony and the hammer were sent tumbling to the ground, with Tony out cold.
"Boss, wake up!" FRIDAY said and even the AI sounded concerned.
Steve flipped and kicked Thanos' face, very slightly affecting him. He then struck with Excalibur which Thanos blocked, and then they clashed thrice, sending out a shockwave the third time. Thanos lowered Steve's sword and smacked him back.
They clashed again before Thanos spun and tried to strike but Steve blocked yet was still sent back.
Thanos tried to strike again but Steve blocked and ducked to avoid another swing before they clashed and Steve blocked two strikes from Thanos in a spin motion.
Thanos then punched him as he put the shield in the way but was still sent flying back, crashing into a rock.
Thor struck with Stormbreaker as Thanos blocked, and then dodged the next blow as Thor threw Mjolnir, which Thanos deflected, only for Thor to throw Stormbreaker as the clash of weapons produced a powerful lightning shockwave that actually made him fall down.
As he staggered up, Thor and Paige clashed their weapons against each other, producing another massive lightning shockwave that sent Thanos flying back by a few feet.
He groaned and threw his sword as Paige created an orb shield to protect both Thor and herself, as the sword went back into Thanos' hand while he charged with a roar, but Paige managed to block the sword with her trident as Thor leapt with his ax aimed at Thanos' throat, but Thanos freed his sword at the last moment and blocked Thor's blow, producing a shockwave that shattered cliffs nearby.
Thor then called Mjolnir but Thanos backed and ducked to avoid it as Thor caught it in his hand.
Thor ducked to avoid a swing from the sword before striking with his ax which he ducked to avoid, and Thor backed to avoid another swing of Thanos' sword before striking his abdomen hard with Mjolnir, sending him back as he crashed into the ground, forming a crater while he grunted.
Thanos then got back up and flew with a roar, blocking a strike from Thor's ax and Paige's trident with his sword and Thor flew to his side to avoid his strike before blocking with Mjolnir while Paige struck out with her trident and Thanos barely avoided.
Pieces of the ground were coming apart and flying around them now.
Thor then struck with Mjolnir but Thanos avoided before trying to strike Thor who blocked with Mjolnir, then struck with Stormbreaker but Thanos blocked with his staff again, only for Paige to slice his shoulder as he grunted before he tried to kick as Paige made an orb shield but was sent staggering back.
Thor then backed to avoid a blow before striking Thanos' face with Mjolnir, slightly staggering him, and then he sliced Thanos' abdomen with Stormbreaker, before striking him hard with Mjolnir again, sending him back into the ground, making a huge crater.
Thanos got up with a roar as Paige orbed behind him and stabbed his back as he growled, then grabbed the trident and pushed it out, sending Paige back before striking with his sword as Paige blocked and spun around, trying to slice his throat as he backed to avoid and then Thor threw Mjolnir which hit his head, sending him crashing forwards as Paige moved out of the way.
He then got back up as both Thor and Paige charged but he blocked with his sword and kneed Thor's abdomen while smacking Paige's face.
Then all three dodged each other's next blows before trying to strike each other as the Earth shook from their clash.
The two Gods then fired lightning as Thanos jumped back to avoid it barely before throwing his sword as Paige blocked with her orb shield but Thanos charged and rammed into her hard, sending her flying off, and he smacked Thor away too.
Before Paige could get up, Thanos was upon her and punched her face again and again, breaking the ground underneath her as her head turned and she was dazed and bleeding, being knocked out.
Thor then charged as Thanos struck and he used both weapons to block, the shockwave shaking and breaking stuff once more.
Thanos then smacked Thor's hand, sending Mjolnir away as they clashed weapons again but Thor managed to disarm Thanos of his sword now.
Then Thanos disarmed Thor too and lifting him up by the throat, threw him into a broken tree.
Thanos punched Thor several times before tossing him into a rock on the other side, dazing him badly. He then kicked Thor on the chest and punched his face again, dazing him more as Thor bled.
Thor raised his hand, summoning Stormbreaker but Thanos caught it instead and gripping the handle in one hand and the ax's head in another, attempted to drive it into Thor's chest as Thor grabbed it, desperately trying to stop it.
Unknown to them both, Mjolnir slowly lifted into the air a few yards away.
Thanos had almost pushed Stormbreaker into Thor's chest when suddenly Mjolnir flew into him, making him stumble away and drop Stormbreaker as Mjolnir halted in its path, then reversed course and flew back over Thanos' head. Right into the hand of Steve Rogers!
"I knew it!" Thor laughed happily when Thanos kicked his face into rubble.
Steve twirled Mjolnir and the two charged each other. Steve leapt up and swung Mjolnir upwards, hitting Thanos under the chin and knocking him down into rubble.
As Thanos got up, Steve threw his shield which Thanos deflected with his sword. Steve then threw Mjolnir at the shield and a loud shockwave went off, knocking Thanos to his knee.
Steve caught Mjolnir and shield on return and keeping the shield back, took out Excalibur and tossing it up, batted it at Thanos as it went through his gut and flew out of the other side, making him scream in pain as Steve caught Excalibur on return.
Then leaping up, Steve kneed Thanos back before hitting his knee with Mjolnir and following up by a sword slice to the face, before he swiftly kept it back and used the shield to bash Thanos before striking his face with Mjolnir twice, the second strike breaking the helmet as Thanos staggered back.
Steve then threw the shield at Thanos, staggering him back and then batted it with Mjolnir at him, staggering him back again and catching the shield, spun and sliced Thanos with Excalibur before stabbing his thigh, and pulling it out, smacked him with Mjolnir, sending him flying back.
Then Steve fired a powerful lightning bolt from Mjolnir which ripped the ground and hit Thanos, throwing him down.
Steve raised Mjolnir skyward and as clouds gathered, an even larger lightning bolt was summoned which struck Thanos, making him roar in pain.
Steve leapt at him with Mjolnir raised but he rolled away at the last moment and picking Steve up by the throat, slammed him to the ground.
Steve rolled away and got up as Thanos picked up his sword and threw his broken helmet away. He swung but Steve blocked or dodged a few times before being stabbed in the foot. He yelled in pain but tried to strike with Mjolnir. However, Thanos grabbed Steve's wrist and stopped the strike, dropping his sword and punching Steve with his other hand, knocking Mjolnir away.
Steve was kicked away but got up as Thanos kicked his sword into his hand. Steve raised his shield as Thanos brought the sword down on him. Steve's shield held up. But Thanos brought it up and back down on Steve's shield many times and the seemingly unbreakable shield shattered into pieces at the top.
Steve swiftly took out Excalibur and blocked the next few blows, and unlike his shield, it didn't break due to its mystical power, and then Steve tried to strike but Thanos blocked and kicked Steve away by many feet.
Steve lay on the ground, straining heavily and groaned to get up as Thanos announced, "In all my years of conquest...violence...slaughter...It was never personal. But I'll tell you now...what I'm about to do to your stubborn, annoying little planet...I'm gonna enjoy it. Very, very much."
A beam shot down from the Sanctuary II and the entire Chitauri army appeared led by Ebony Maw, Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight and Cull Obsidian. Leviathans were flying in the air too. Some war devices were being moved by Sakaarans. Chitauri gorillas were unchained. And Outriders ran into the fray as well.
Steve looked at the approaching army. He wanted so badly to just lie down and rest. But he was the last line of defense between not just Thanos and the Stones, but the Universe as well. He straightened up and tightened the remainder of his shield's strap on his arm, sealing a giant cut Thanos' sword had made, while holding Excalibur in that same hand too.
He staggered towards the limitless marching army, ready to face them all alone.
As Steve continued marching, he suddenly heard a voice in his earpiece.
"Cap?" Steve froze, "You hear me?"
"Cap, it's Sam. Can you hear me?" Sam asked again as Steve breathlessly tapped his earpiece with shaking hands.
And then Sam settled a score from years ago. "On your left."
Steve turned behind to his left to see a golden portal open up.
Out of the portal walked T'Challa, Okoye and Shuri. T'Challa retracted his visor as Steve looked at the three, panting in relief. T'Challa gave him a nod.
Then Sam flew over their heads as several golden portals started opening up all around.
Thanos looked around as out of one portal flew Doctor Strange with Mantis and Drax. Drax brandished his knives as Mantis took a fighting pose while Strange summoned Tao Mandalas and Quill flew next to them, retracting his visor just as Peter swung down and standing up, retracted his mask too, revealing a smile on his face.
Steve smiled in relief on seeing Peter while T'Challa chanted 'Yibambe' and Okoye, Shuri and his Wakandan troops that had assembled behind him repeated.
Several more portals opened as Ravager ships flew out with Ravagers coming out of several of them. Bucky and Groot walked out of another portal with several Wakandans.
Korg and Miek stood in front of another portal with Valkyrie on her Pegasus called Aragorn with Sif on her side while several Asgardians stood behind them. Wanda flew down to join them.
Another portal opened up as out of it walked Piper, Leo, Henry and Billie, with Phoebe flying down next to them.
Then from another portal walked out Sam and Kevin, now an Elder.
From another came Darryl Morris, aiming his gun forwards.
Then from another arrived Tyler Michaels, a fireball in his hand.
The army of Valkyries led by Freyja stepped out too, all roaring.
Wong and other Masters of the Mystic Arts clapped their hands, forming Tao Mandalas, prepared to fight.
Daredevil, Elektra, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Danny Rand, Colleen Wing and Frank Castle came out of another portal.
From another came Leo Fitz, Jemma Simmons, Mack, Daisy Johnson, Bobbi Morse, Lance Hunter, Melinda May, Elena Rodriguez and Robbie Reyes.
As Ravagers and Howard the Duck marched out behind them, Hope, in her suit, suddenly enlarged, looking at them all.
Thor summoned Stormbreaker to him and smiled happily while Tony woke up, looking around in shock. Then Pepper landed in her Rescue armor and retracted her visor, revealing her face.
Paige had tears of joy as she realized everything they had done, and what Prue had sacrificed, none of it was in vain.
"Is that everyone?" Strange asked Wong.
"What, you wanted more?" Wong asked incredulously.
Then there was a crashing sound as Hulk leapt out of the rubble and landed and then Scott emerged from the rubble as Giant-Man and opened his fist.
Rocket jumped out while Rhodes flew out in a new War Machine suit while Rocket jumped at his shoulder and loaded his gun.
All the armies of Wakandans, Asgardians, Ravagers, Valkyries and Masters of the Mystic Arts roared in unison as Steve turned to look at Thanos who was watching in shock.
Everyone got into fighting poses while Steve stepped forward.
"Avengers!" He shouted and held out his hand while all looked at him and the approaching army just as Mjolnir flew into Steve's hand.
"Assemble."
Hulk roared and Thor bellowed, followed by T'Challa and then all charged as Rhodes flew with Rocket on him and Valkyrie too flew on her Pegasus along with Tony, Pepper, Wanda, Quill, Phoebe and Ravager ships as Scott ran in giant form while Peter swung from his hand.
An unintimidated Thanos pointed his sword at the charging army and his army charged too. Thor continued bellowing as the armies reached closer with M'Baku roaring next to him. And then the two armies clashed, determined to end the Battle of Earth once and for all.
Next chapter is the big fight.
Also, this Thanos shall be more powerful than MCU Thanos and will have some of his comic book abilities to help him stand against the magical characters better.
Thank you to Marcus S. Lazarus for suggesting some characters who could show up from the 'Charmed' side since outside of the obvious which is Piper, Phoebe, Leo, Sam and Billie I was unable to think of anyone.
