Thanks a lot to Brainstorm Sorcerer for his help once more, plus this episode is one of the 3 episodes of this Season I don't like, but hope all enjoy it still.
Matt and Faith finally make their appearance in this one.
Chapter 6- Old meets new
New York City
Matt and Faith lay in bed, Faith's back on Matt's chest, the ring still visible on her finger, before the alarm rang as they woke up and shared a 'good morning' kiss.
Later, Matt cooked breakfast as Faith wrapped her arms around him sensually from behind, making him chuckle before he put the plates down and they had breakfast.
A while later, both of them got dressed up.
Matt, Foggy and Karen were in their office, now having improved in quality as Matt spoke to their client.
Faith and Colleen demonstrated self-defense against a knife in their class, with Colleen being the attacker and Faith being the defender.
Matt and Foggy were in court, defending a client of theirs.
Faith was in her online class, learning some more stuff.
Matt and Faith were back home and shared a little kiss before they suited up.
Daredevil and Slayer beat up some thugs.
Matt and Faith were now in bed again and snuggled under the sheets.
"That was a good day", Faith commented.
"I think its morning already", Matt pointed out jokingly.
They lightly chuckled before drifting off in each other's arms.
Matt and Faith woke up as Matt's phone rang, and he held it as Faith noted. "It's Angel."
"Yeah", Matt sighed as he accepted the call. "Hey Angel…..what? You serious? Are you sure you want us…..okay, fine."
He cut the call as Faith asked. "What did he want?"
"Well, he wants us", Matt said as Faith shot him a weird look. "And I just realized how that sounded."
Later, Nelson, Murdock and Page
"You what?" Foggy asked, speaking for both himself and Karen.
"Well, he wants my help, and I'm gonna give it to him", Matt simply said with a shrug.
"But Matt, this place, you yourself said it makes Landman and Zach look like us in comparison", Karen reminded him. "Now you want to go there because your friends at the place run it? Maybe its affecting them too."
"And there's my reason for going", Matt told her. "The two of us are going to make sure none of them lose themselves in this job."
"What about you though?" Foggy asked. "What if you two lose yourself?"
"Faith did once, and she came back, and what I went through when I found out about Mephisto was way worse than this", Matt said to Foggy. "Besides, you two will get half of what we earn there."
Now Foggy was excited and asked. "When are you two starting?"
Los Angeles, Wolfram and Hart
Angel had gathered all employees and made an announcement. "So, today, we are going to have two new members here who shall be the heads of their respective departments- Matt Murdock shall be the head of the legal department, and Faith Lehane shall be the head of humans/non-humans relations."
In that moment, the elevator opened as Matt and Faith exited, having smirks that could only be described as 'Devillish', with a flash of red eyes behind Matt's shades. They were both dressed up in suits, yes, even Faith.
The super couple walked through the place, hand in hand, everyone intimidated by the Hell-Lord's spawn (they didn't know he was Daredevil, but they did know about his connection to Mephisto) and the Slayer.
Angel's Season 5 Intro happens with Charisma Carpenter and Mark Lutz in the opening credits, along with Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Eliza Dushku as Faith Lehane.
"Here are your offices", Angel showed Matt and Faith their work-places. "Not very far."
"Thanks", Matt said to Angel, tapping his shoulder.
"Well, I've some ideas to break them in", Faith said a naughty smirk as Angel shot her a weird look before leaving them.
"I've work, get acquainted, and thanks a lot for coming."
"No problem", Faith called out behind him.
Before they could move a step ahead Cordelia, Wesley, Fred, Gunn and Groo appeared.
"Hey guys, welcome to evil incorporated", Cordelia greeted as the two shared a hug with her.
"Not to worry, we shall show you the ropes", Wesley added as he shared a hug too.
"So you're a lawyer now, never thought the day would come", Matt joked to Gunn as they laughed and hugged too.
"Yeah, things have changed drastically", Gunn quipped, hugging Faith as well.
"Not for me, its not too different from Pylea", Groo said as he shared hug with them as well.
"Without the politics, right?" Faith asked and he nodded as she chuckled.
"I just have to do science stuff, my department is morally neutral, or so they say", Fred told the two, sharing a hug with them as well.
"My department is morally ambiguous, right?" Matt asked and got nods. "Knew it."
"Lorne's asleep after what happened, with Connor too, but you can meet him in a while", Cordelia assured him.
Matt nodded before calling out. "Gunn."
Gunn turned to him as Matt told him. "Luke said 'hey'."
Gunn now fanboyed. "Luke Cage said 'hey' to me!"
Everyone chuckled at his excitement as Matt whispered to him. "And he sent an overdue gift too, check your office."
Gunn excitedly rushed to his office and saw a box, opening it to see Luke Cage's bullet-hole ridden and autographed yellow t-shirt and hoody.
He gasped, then poked his head out to the rest. "I need a moment."
Then the door was shut along with the blinds as all heard him squealing happily and chuckled in good humor.
A while later, Angel signed his name on a contract with a fancy pen, when he noticed the deep red color of the ink.
Matt was there too, running his hand down the contract to check all details, and told Gunn. "Your work is impressive."
"Thanks man", Gunn said with a nod.
"This is your blood", Matt then told Angel about the ink.
"Huh?" Angel continued signing. "And how is that OK?"
"I was wondering the same thing", Matt commented.
Gunn took signed contracts from Angel. "Demon law requires blood signatures on all legal documents. Your Herbie Hancock here locks and loads these docs. Then we take 'em into court and fire away."
"Locks and loads. Got it."
"As C.E.O. and president of Wolfram & Hart, you just bankrupted a company that dumps raw demon waste into Santa Monica bay, banished a clan of pyro warlocks into a hell dimension, and started a foster care program for kids whose parents have been killed by vampires." He stacked the papers. "Not bad for a day's pay."
"Well, you are changing this place in that case", Matt pointed out to them both. "Using the resources for good."
Angel wasn't enthusiastic. "Yeah. Great."
Gunn added. "Look, I know legal weasels and business deals aren't as heroic to you as rescuing young honeys from tumescent trolls, but I love what we do."
Stick then appeared and quipped. "Please, stop. I don't know if ghosts can barf, but I can feel myself regurgitating ectoplasm."
"Hello Stick", Angel and Gunn drawled in greeting.
"Hi Stick", Matt greeted him too.
"Matty", Stick walked next to him. "Just heard you and your Slayer lady came in too, nice to see you around here, now things won't be as boring as before."
"Thanks for keeping an eye on them", Matt simply told Stick.
"It was worse than babysitting your Slayer and the baby", Stick drawled as Matt chuckled.
"Still the same", he quipped.
Angel stood, looking out the window as Gunn asked. "You OK?"
"Yeah. Fine. Like you said, not bad for a day's pay."
"I know you hate working here, what with the bureaucracy and the fact that most of our employees want us dead. But in-house attacks are down 30% this week. And we've done more good here in a month than Angel investigations did in a year."
"I know, I'm just... I don't know, just feeling a bit..."
"Corrupted, right? Like too much power here is taking over you?" Matt inquired.
"Disconnected."
Stick quipped. "Oh poor bloodsucker, wait and let me get my violin."
"Seriously?" Matt asked Stick and he raised his hands as Cordelia walked in.
"Connect with her, you brooding baby", Stick called out to Angel, then walked past Cordelia as Wesley arrived with a report too, and both looked at him, confused.
"Was he always like this?" Angel asked about Stick.
"Death has certainly made him more….chatty", Matt told him.
"Usually that makes someone more…..corpse", Cordelia commented.
The mailman arrived as Angel said. "I just feel disconnected."
Cordelia walked to him and stroked his shoulder. "Yeah, I get it, but we have to stay on this path now, Angel, that's all we can do. This is how we help the helpless. Like we've done before." They shared a smile at that.
Gunn added. "I know what you're saying about the disconnect. Much as I love the legalese, gotta admit, I miss mixing it up sometimes, you know? I miss getting my hands dirty."
Wesley finally held out his report. "Then you'll be interested in this. 3 people found with their hearts cut out in East Los Angeles, all within the last couple of hours."
Matt heard the mailman's heart rate rise as Wes continued. "The police are on it, but my sense is it's more demonic than some murderous nut job."
The mailman rushed his cart out as Matt said. "Let's check it out then."
"Yeah, demonic or not, murderous nut job is around", Cordelia quipped.
Gunn called out to the mailman. "Yo! You missed one."
"I'll get it", Angel took the envelope from Gunn and ran out.
Then next moment Matt heard glass smashing and sighed. "That's one crazy strong mailman."
Angel stood up amongst the shattered glass. "I really hate this place."
"What the hell happened?" Cordelia asked Angel.
Stick appeared at that moment and started laughing his ghostly ass off. "You got your ass beat by an old man!"
"And you are what? Zac Efron?" Cordelia asked Stick.
"Hey! I'm a 110 year old Chaste warrior. That guy wears a wrestling mask."
And then Stick looked at Angel and laughed hysterically again as Angel and Matt groaned.
After all had made comments on Angel beating up an old man when it was the opposite, they had all set out to find the Demon, with Matt and Faith now in a Viper they had gotten from the car collection.
"Damn! At least the cars are nice", Faith commented as she drove it around, with Matt using his nose to try and track the thing.
He was wearing his all-black getup outside of the mask, similar to when he had his first battle with Bullseye.
"Don't like wearing this one, I thought I was over it", Matt sighed about this suit.
"Yeah, but it'd be obvious if Daredevil's in the city so soon after Matt Murdock", Faith pointed out to him. "The Senior Partners may know of the Hell-Mark, but best to keep the other secrets close to the chest."
Matt then sniffed the blood as Faith quipped. "Maybe you should stick your head out the window like a dog while I floor it."
They laughed and Faith then added. "Or maybe we should get a dog."
Matt groaned. "You've been talking to Foggy, haven't you?"
"What can I say, I love the guy. And may I also say I approve your choice for best man."
"You should have been there when I asked him, wasn't sure if he was going to hug me or kill me."
"Why would he kill you?"
"Because now Marci's expecting a ring."
The two of them laughed at poor Foggy's predicament.
Angel, Wesley, Gunn and Stick were driving in a red convertible, with Stick in the front seat as Wesley started. "Angel, the church we're looking for is about half a mile—"
Angel swerved the car off to the side of the road, stopping it with a screech near the entrance of an alley that had been decorated with dolls. "I want my Viper!"
"Well, that was dramatic", Stick commented and they got out and walked to an alley, finding a body. "Still late though."
Gunn inquired. "So you what, heard his scream?"
Angel walked away in disgust. Wesley inspected the body, which had a gaping bloody hole in the middle of the chest.
Stick told him. "Nah, bloodsucker sniffed the blood."
Gunn commented. "Notice no matter how uptown we go, we always wind up in some stanky hole in the middle of the night?"
"Angel!" Wesley called out. "His heart's missing. Looks like it was cut out with some sort of crude knife. And based on these blood spatters, I'd say it was still beating when it was removed.
Angel told them. "The blood's fresh. This just happened."
Wesley realized. "So whatever did this might still be close."
"How close?" Gunn asked.
Stick looked behind the rest. "Close enough for intimacy."
The gang was now face-to-face with a snarling demon dressed in some sort of armor, complete with plumed helmet. The demon had lots of pointed teeth and wrinkly yellowish-gray, and armed with a sword.
The Demon attacked with its sword. Angel clashed swords with it before being thrown into a pile of boxes while Wesley shot with his shotgun but it was unphased, and he was sent flying across the room too, while Gunn struck its back with his ax and it shrieked.
"How you like that, sparky?"
It turned to him, the ax stuck in it as Gunn groaned. "Ok so next time, I hold onto that ax."
The Demon swung but Gunn backed off.
Stick then walked to the Demon but to his shock, its punch connected and Stick was sent down to the ground.
That was when the Viper stopped as Matt and Faith got out, but the Demon pushed a dumpster at Angel and ran off.
"We're going after it", Faith told the rest.
"Yeah, I've the scent", Matt added as the two made away.
Angel, Cordelia and Wesley were looking up the Demon later when Stick walked in, rubbing his nose. "Hello everyone."
Cordelia started. "Here to rag on us-"
"I'm physical now."
Their jaws all dropped at that point.
Matt and Faith ended up outside a sewer as Matt sighed. "Can't follow it there, now I'm unable to track the scent, there are too many revolting scents inside."
"Right, not a problem, we can get it later", Faith assured as she and Matt left with a sigh.
Matt and Faith returned to Wesley's office where he was telling Stick. "You are physical today because it's the Day of the Dead, the mystical nature of the occasion making your body physical, but you can still see because you're dead, and its only for today."
"Wait what?" Matt asked as Stick turned to him. "You're physical now-"
"Only for the day, Matty", Stick said as Matt put a hand on his shoulder.
"Huh? Looks like it."
"You gonna give me a hug."
"Nope."
"Good, I'd have punched you if you had."
"Why the black eye?" Faith asked as she noticed Stick's black eye.
"Angel took out some frustration on finding out I was physical", Stick commented. "Got a broken nose in return."
They chuckled at that as Stick added. "This day sucks, can't disappear, can't walk through walls, and everyone wants to bludgeon me."
"So, like old times for you", Matt commented as Stick sighed and shook his head.
"Either way, I think we should do some research", Wesley said to the group.
A while later Wesley, Faith and Gunn were going over some books, with Faith actually having a passion for reading, which made Wesley beam at her for a bit.
Wesley commented to them. "I'd forgotten that Aztec culture was so violent."
Gunn quipped. "Yeah, 'cause our culture's so at peace."
Wesley conceded some of it. "All right, but by and large, we don't eat our victims."
Faith spoke up. "You'd be surprised, there's a lot of sickos in the world, especially back home."
Then Matt and Cordelia came in, as Cordelia then said. "I went through all records on Aztec-related matters from 50 years ago. He forged a mystical talisman that would harness the power of his sun God, make him "supernova" powerful. But he got found out, was sentenced to die on the Aztec version of day of the dead. He had a shaman put a curse on him to return from the dead every 50 years. Been doing it for centuries. If it consumed the hearts of heroes, or acquired the Aztec talisman, it would gain the ability to remain on Earth permanently."
"Right", Faith nodded, then asked Matt. "Can you use the Hell-Mark on it?"
"It's no good", Matt told her. "Tezcatcatl worships Huitzilopochtli-"
Cordelia interrupted. "How can anyone pronounce these names."
Matt continued. "And since Thor proved that the Norse gods are real, then so do other mythological pantheons, so even if I try, likely Tezcatcatl won't fall to the Mark's command."
Angel returned after a confrontation with the Tezcatcati and told the rest. "So you think this demon is eating the hearts of heroes, huh? Well, it's an interesting theory, and I can see where your research might seem to support that, but...your theory kinda fell apart in the field."
Wesley started. "Angel, I know you've been through a horrible ordeal, and I'm not trying to—"
"The reason why I know this Aztec demon is not eating the hearts of heroes is... he didn't take mine. Am I honestly supposed to believe that it had no problem sticking a sword in my stomach but then decided, "Oh, wait, his heart's not heroic enough"? Ha! I don't think so."
They walked into Angel's office as Wesley said. "I understand you're feeling rejected. But this Aztec warrior... it wants the hearts for sustenance. It wants it for the meat, not the metaphor."
"What are you saying?"
Gunn explained. "As meat goes, your heart's a dried-up hunk of gnarly-ass beef jerky."
"Yeah, well, stick a piece of wood in it, and I still die. Must mean something", Angel groaned in pain.
"Your heart doesn't even beat. Get over it and be happy you aren't dust!" Cordelia then said as Angel groaned, realizing her point.
Matt, Faith and Stick then walked in as Angel asked. "Wes, did you ever hear that the devil built a robot?"
"El Diablo Robotico", Wesley nodded.
Stick remembered it. "Huh, fun story, been awhile since I heard that one."
Cordelia was confused, "Aren't we talking about Willow's first Robo-demon boyfriend?"
Angel paused after all that and said to himself. "No one tells me anything."
"Really? I knew that and I was part of the group after you", Faith told Angel.
"And that proves that no one tells me anything", Angel said again.
"Anyway, Matt and I found a contract", Cordelia then told Angel and explained it the same way as before. "He forged a mystical talisman that would harness the power of his sun God, make him "supernova" powerful. But he was found out and executed on the Aztec version of day of the dead. He had a shaman put a curse on him to return from the dead every 50 years. He has been doing it for centuries. If it consumed the hearts of heroes, or acquired the Aztec talisman, it would gain the ability to remain on Earth permanently."
"And Aztec deities would make it immune to the Hell-Mark", Matt added.
"The talisman…" Angel trailed off. "It's with him."
"The mailman?" Faith asked and got a nod.
"Come on, let's go", Angel said as he walked out with Matt, Faith, Cordelia and Stick behind him.
"What about us?" Gunn asked, gesturing to himself and Wesley.
"I think we all are enough", Cordelia replied to him.
"Yeah, too many cooks spoil the broth", Wesley quipped as Angel swayed his trench coat before walking off.
"There he goes, being dramatic again", Stick said about Angel.
The group soon arrived at the cemetery where Numero Cinco was performing a spell and Angel told him. "Won't work, you know. You want the Aztec warrior to come, to kill you so you can be with your brothers, but... he won't."
"He will be here. I summoned him."
"Maybe. But he won't kill you... or me", Angel patted his chest. "Missing the secret ingredient. Now give me the talisman, and I'll leave you to your misery."
"I don't have it", Cinco sipped his coffee.
"Its in the thermos", Matt simply said as Cinco stared at him in shock, and then Matt announced.
"Its coming."
The Demon arrived as the group turned to face it.
"You want my talisman?" Cinco walked to the Demon. "Come and get it. It's in my belly."
Angel grabbed his hand. "Hey stop."
Cinco threw Angel off but Faith leapt and caught him while Matt brandished his club, two arm blades rising from his sleeves, Cordelia swung a broadsword with a flourish and Stick twirled the katana from Angel's office.
Matt then blocked the Demon's strike with his club before slicing its side while Cordelia dodged another swing before slicing its shoulder and Stick sliced its leg.
Angel and Faith picked up iron bars and joined, the former striking its head as the latter struck its back.
It then roared and decked Angel, sending him down before smacking Cordelia down too and then tried to strike Matt who flipped away to avoid with Faith leaning back to avoid another swing and Stick ducked to avoid one too.
Cinco now picked up a weapon and charged. "If you're looking for heroes, you're wasting your time."
He blocked a blow before striking its face twice and raised his weapon again but got stabbed.
"No!" Angel yelled as he got up in a rage while Cinco stumbled, falling to his brother's graves and bleeding there.
In that moment, all the other brothers rose out of the graves, wearing masks of different colors, and then popped their necks while rotating their shoulders, realigning their bodies after years in the grave.
"Get the limbs!" Stick called out to the others.
Angel then leapt and landed a jump kick, staggering the Demon back before Matt cupped his hands, and Faith jumped on them, landing a knee on the Demon's face, and then Cordelia came up behind it and jumped on it, her hands over its eyes as there was a burst of light, blinding it, and then she jumped off while Stick slashed its legs, then got behind it in a spin motion and kicked its back, sending it to the ground.
He then stabbed its hand with the katana while Cordelia stabbed its other one with her broadsword, and Matt stabbed a leg with his arm blade with Faith using her iron bar to stab the other foot, pinning all its limbs.
"Angel!" Matt called out as Angel turned to him, and Matt's Hell-Mark glowed as he fired a ball of Hellfire at Angel's iron bar, lighting up the top, but Angel didn't feel any pain or discomfort.
Angel then drove the flaming rod through the Demon's heart as it screeched and went up in flames, destroyed.
The five then turned to the brothers who had been watching, and they all nodded in respect, content that these new champions were keeping the world safe in their place.
"Mis hermanos, they came back", Cinco gasped in pain.
"Because you're worthy, you proved it", Angel assured him.
"Maybe, but the Demon still didn't want my heart."
"It didn't want mine either."
"Of course, amigo, who'd want that dried up walnut of a dead thing?" Cinco asked before coughing, and passed away as the five stood sadly.
His brothers picked him up and carried him away until they were gone, disappearing, while the five bowed in silence to the departed heroes.
Back at Wolfram and Hart, Angel handed the talisman to Wesley in an envelope that read- "177A Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village, New York City."
Cordelia then asked. "Angel, are you OK? I know you've been feeling—"
"I'm fine. Got the job done. That's what's important."
Fred asked. "So number 5, he jumped in and helped at the end?"
"Yes, he died a hero", Matt told her. "Hell of a first day though."
"Is it always like this?" Faith asked.
"No, miss pop and rock, sometimes it gets weird", Lorne rubbed his head while holding baby Connor. "Like when I had a Hulk."
"Guess I'm not the only one with something inside", Matt said, tapping Lorne's shoulder.
"Where's the evil hell bitch?" Faith then asked, and it was obvious who she was referring to.
"When you two were hired, she thought it in her best interests to inspect some of our projects, abroad", Wesley said as the two smirked and chuckled.
"Best to call it a day now", Gunn suggested to the rest.
"Yes, this has been a long one", Groo nodded in agreement.
"Drinks!" Stick then called out. "I have only so long left until I'm ghosty again."
"Go ahead", Angel told the rest as they all started leaving.
Angel walked to Wesley's office, walking up to the table where the magic books were kept, and picked up the prophecy book.
"Hey!"
He turned to see Cordelia walk up to him and asked. "What are you doing here?"
"Because I know why you're here", Cordelia replied as she walked next to him. "Connor's with the rest." She offered. "We can read it together."
Angel smiled and nodded, then whispered to the book. "Shansu prophecy, English translation."
He opened the book, and text appeared on the page; Angel and Cordelia read it.
"Interesting read?" A very familiar voice then asked.
The two froze as Angel whispered. "Oh no."
The chair at the office's window then spun around, revealing a platinum blonde man in a leather duster, smirking.
"Hello, Captain Forehead."
Cordelia was surprised. "Spike?"
Angel growled. "Spike."
Harmony then popped her head in. "Blondie bear?"
And that's the end. Oh yeah! Spike's here in Angel Season 5 after all. I have my reasons for bringing him in, and he has his reasons for being here, which are nothing like canon.
Besides, let's be honest, Season 5 just won't be the same without Spike's humor really.
And Matt and Faith are in too at last, and now Team Angel is complete for this Season with those two and Spike.
Not to worry, Spuffy is still a thing, they've just been sent off to do different missions, and Spike's mission brings him to LA, while Buffy's mission is somewhere else.
Thanks a lot to Brainstorm Sorcerer for his help again.
Hope all enjoyed and see you all next time with another chapter.
