Chapter 16- Happy Day
New York City
Matt and Faith were in bed in their New York apartment, having flown back two days ago, with all agreeing to have their parties here.
Faith had a sleepy smile as she started waking up, then Matt started kissing her up her shoulder, until he got to her lips and both kissed each other.
"Morning, wife-to-be."
"Morning, husband-to-be."
"So, I guess we should get up", Matt finally said.
"Yeah, perhaps", Faith said.
But both were still in bed.
"You're not moving."
"Neither are you."
And they remained in bed.
Then the door burst open, Lorne standing there, headset on, clipboard in hand.
"Wake up, lovebirds! It's your wedding day!" He screeched, causing groans all over, and turned out the living room and kitchen were filled with the unconscious and hungover bodies of their last stag and hen parties.
Matt and Faith turned to each other.
"You want to tell me what happened last night?"
And she fired back. "Only if you go first."
And they laughed at their friends' states.
Spike groaned and sat up, with a sleeping mask on, then screamed. "GAAAHHH! I'M BLIND!"
Then a just awoken Gunn took the mask off.
"Oh."
A while later, Faith was sitting, looking at her beautiful wedding dress that she had picked out.
And then Willow, Tara, Dawn and Buffy walked in, all of them having beautiful bridesmaid dressed, with Willow being Maid of Honor.
"These dresses are beautiful", Willow said, all the women looking at each other. "Thank you Faith."
"Well, I'm not Anya", Faith quipped as chuckles went around. "My Maid of Honor and bridesmaids are gonna look the most beautiful in history."
"In that case, mission accomplished", Buffy quipped.
"So, how are you feeling?" Tara finally asked the important question, Faith not taking her eyes off the wedding dress.
"This is it. I put this on, and it's the start of my new life. Kind of scary really."
"Scary good?" Tara asked.
Faith then turned to them as she started tearing up. "Scary amazing." She said emotionally as she hugged them, and they started getting emotional, but then Willow said something.
"No! You can't cry! If you cry, then I'll cry! And if I cry, Tara will cry, then Dawn, then Buffy, and we'll ruin our makeup."
But they all fell in as they shared an emotional hug, and then reapplied the makeup.
"Oh great, now Matt will know I'm a big softie, crying on her wedding day."
"Well, you are." Dawn quipped, and Faith "glared" at her.
But Buffy couldn't help but ask. "How would he know you cried?"
"He can taste the saltiness from the tears."
"He can do that?"
"Yeah, not much that gets past him, he even knew you had pineapple on a pizza three days ago." That stunned Buffy, and the other girls.
"By the way, pineapple on a pizza, seriously? What is wrong with you?"
Then they laughed at Buffy's angry pouting face.
Colleen then walked in to meet them as she also asked. "I didn't miss anything interesting, did I?"
"No, just the interesting tid-bit that Buffy puts pineapple on her pizza", Willow quipped as Buffy pouted again.
"I think it was best I didn't know that", Colleen shrugged.
"Not wrong there", Tara said and all of them laughed once more while Buffy sighed and groaned with folded arms.
"I hate you all", she said.
"And I love you all", Faith said as hugs were given again.
"Still mad you didn't invite me to your wedding though", Faith said to Willow and Tara.
"To be fair, we didn't invite anyone", Willow pointed out. "Meet Willow Rosenberg and Tara Hart-Rosenberg."
"Oh yeah", Faith quipped before asking Tara. "'Hart' your maiden name?"
"It is", Tara confirmed.
"Fits", Faith said with a smile.
At the same time, Matt was dressing up in his suit, with Angel, Spike, Wesley, Foggy, Karen, Cordelia and Fred nearby.
"You know, I have been in love with Faith for a long time, and both she and I realized it while singing in a musical", Matt admitted to the rest of them as he adjusted his tie, managing to fit it all. "How am I supposed to put it all in one vow I wonder?"
"I know- hire someone else to read them for you!" Cordelia said as all laughed while Matt groaned.
"All right, I'll do it", Foggy spoke up with a raised hand.
"Don't think Marci would appreciate it", Karen pointed and more chuckles went around.
"Matt, when you're up there", Angel said as he walked to Matt who turned around. "And you stand there with her in front of you-"
"Wow."
"The words will come", Angel continued. "The words will come, and if they don't, the look on your face will tell her everything she needs to know."
"Well, hope it doesn't come to that, I'm sure you have something lined up", Spike said with a shrug.
"Still can't believe its here finally, but I'm happy", Fred said with a smile of her own.
"Yes, I believe we all are", Wesley said.
"Now, can I be groomsman?" Angel asked as all snickered.
"You said you don't want to do more than one job, and you were walking Faith down the aisle, so I don't think you can backtrack now", Matt pointed out as Angel groaned.
Angel gestured to Spike. "But he is-"
"Unlike you, I took the open spot mate, nothing personal", Spike quipped and all laughed at Angel's face.
Gunn then came in with Connor, who was wearing his own little baby-sized suit, tailored for him. "Me and the little man have something in common, we both look damn good in a suit."
"Nothing suits him like a suit", Cordelia said as she took Connor.
"Mama."
"Awww, you look so cute in a suit, Connor", Cordelia said in a baby voice as Angel walked next to her.
"Yeah, it was made for you, this is so cute", Angel muttered in a baby voice too.
"Dada."
"Whoever made this suit deserves a raise", Fred commented.
"I am in agreement with that", Wesley nodded.
"Oh yes", Spike agreed too.
Matt then turned and walked to the door as Maggie stood there, and the others decided to talk amongst themselves, giving space to mother and son.
"Mom", Matt simply greeted her with a smile.
Maggie stroked his face, seeing how far her son had come now. "My boy is getting married. They would be so proud."
"Yes", Matt whispered, knowing who she was referring to, as they hugged and shared a kiss on the cheek.
Outside, Groo was standing guard with a metal detector, and scanned any guests that were coming, then scanned a certain guest as it beeped.
"What do you have?" Groo asked.
"Metal hip", Logan Howlett groaned while rolling his eyes, as the rest of the X-Men- Storm, Kitty, Rogue, Bobby, Piotr, Kurt, Beast and Bethany snickered in amusement behind him.
"Groo, you can let him come", Steve said as he walked out and Groo shrugged, letting him pass.
"Thanks Cap", Logan said.
"No problem", Steve assured him. "How are things at the school?"
"Quite well, I think its thriving again, what about here?" Logan asked Steve.
"The usual", Steve shrugged. "Nothing too big after the First Evil though."
"Good to know", Storm said as she heard the conversation while passing by. "We all need some peace and rest."
"Took the words right out of my mouth", Logan commented.
Then they heard a ship landing outside and knew who it was as Tony and Thor walked next to Steve.
"Is that who I think it is?" Tony asked.
"I think so", Thor told him as Quill, Rocket, Groot, Mantis and Nebula walked in now.
"Hey, missed us?" Quill quipped.
"Very much, great Star-Lord", Thor quipped sarcastically, then turned to Rocket. "And how are you, Captain?"
"Oh I'm very well, thank you for showing the Captain respect", Rocket quipped, shaking hands with Thor as everyone snickered at Quill's expression.
Rocket then looked around for any good tech to take when Tony spoke up. "I made the place raccoon proof."
"Hey who you calling raccoon, trash panda?" Rocket asked Tony, using an insult from 'Quill' as Tony groaned.
"I think he has a bigger mouth than you", Steve told Tony.
"I can see that", Tony said.
Lorne saw them and had a freak-out. "Oh my God! What the…What do alien trees eat?"
"I am Groot", Groot said.
"Where should I seat you lot?" Lorne then wondered out loud.
Drax then came in after the rest of his friends, having been forced to wear a tux, though he had ripped off the sleeves. "My nipples. AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!"
Steve, Thor and Tony exchanged strange looks as Mantis said. "The tux pains the sensitive area of his chest."
Drax then noticed Lorne and walked to him, pacing around him, looking him up and down.
"Do I have something on me, Bautista?" Lorne quipped about Drax's resemblance to the actor and wrester when Drax lifted him by the back of the collar. "Hey."
Drax carried him to the rest of the Guardians and said. "Quill! I found another of Gamora's kind. He is as skinny and horrifying to look at as you."
"What are you…..?" Lorne trailed off.
"Ignore him, he says and does weird stuff", Quill told Lorne.
"You were attracted to Gamora, are you attracted to him?" Drax then asked Quill.
"What…? No! Let him go!" Quill said, and Drax did as Lorne straightened his collar.
"Shame, really", Nebula said sarcastically as Quill sighed and all laughed again.
"Yes, laugh, laughter is the music of the soul", Lorne told all of them.
"What? You mean to say our soul makes music when we laugh?" Drax asked, confused.
"Metaphors go over his head", Rocket told the confused Lorne.
"No, nothing goes over my head, my reflexes are too fast", Drax repeated what he had said the first time.
"See?" Nebula asked.
"Interesting lot", Lorne commented as Carol walked in too, now better than before due to her rehab.
"Hey guys", Carol greeted.
"Hi", Steve greeted back as some embraces went around.
"Guys, where's the booze?" Jessica then asked as she walked to them with Luke, Danny and Frank Castle too.
"We are about to set it up, not to worry", Lorne assured her.
"Set it up fast, Shrek", Jessica quipped.
"Shrek", Lorne wondered. "But only similarity is skin color."
"Who the fuck cares?" Jessica shrugged.
"She is always like that", Luke added.
"Yep, best to not mess with her", Danny shrugged too.
"I like that jacket, I'm gonna take it", Rocket then said.
"Nope, you can't", Jessica told Rocket.
"You wanna bet on some drinks?" Rocket asked.
"Sure, fur-faced fuck", Jessica replied to him.
"And here we go", Frank muttered as the rest snickered, and then Brett, Marci and Claire came in.
"Claire", Luke greeted a little awkwardly.
"Luke", Claire greeted back with equal awkwardness as Brett and Marci looked at all the aliens around.
"How the hell did Murdock end up running in these circles?" Brett wondered.
"Well, he started helping us, the Avengers, out, regarding legal matters, so now we're friends with him, aliens are friends with us, kind of, and so aliens attend his wedding, you get me now?" Tony asked Brett, who still looked confused.
"Kind of", Brett said.
"So, people are all coming I see", Bruce said as he arrived with Betty.
"Quite the huge gathering", Betty noted.
"Well, this is gonna be the most interesting wedding I'm gonna be part of", Marci quipped.
"Oh I have seen stranger", Thor shrugged.
"On Asgard?" Steve asked.
"Yeah, they were quite the rowdy gatherings, but fun to be at", Thor told everyone and then started narrating an incident.
Strange and Wong portaled in as Stick appeared next to them, now having altered his appearance to look more formal, with a suit on him.
"Huh? Never thought I'd see you in that", Strange commented to Stick.
"Well, you don't dress up in anything beside your usual, do you?" Stick pointed out as they snickered.
"He used to before, now he does not", Wong told Stick. "Let us go."
"Anything from our beloved Hell Lord we all love to hate?" Stick asked them.
"No, after attending the party at Wolfram and Hart, he hasn't done anything so far", the Sorcerer Supreme informed the ghost of the former Chaste warrior.
Stick walked through the wall to Matt and asked. "How do you feel, kid?"
"Like I have never felt before", Matt confessed to him.
"Well, its gonna be permanent", Stick assured, sounding genuine and not sarcastic for once.
"I don't think our double wedding had this big of a gathering, did it?" Fitz asked as he walked with Simmons, Bobbi and Hunter.
"Nah mate, but besides, we wanted it to be just the other Agents", Hunter reminded him.
"And I feel it was best that way", Bobbi added.
"Can't disagree", Simmons shrugged. "Besides, Matthew did save everyone from Magus' army, so I guess a lot of people will attend for just that."
"Yeah, a lot of people including us", Daisy added as she, Melinda, Mack and Elena joined.
"Never thought this tower would be the avenue for a wedding", Mack quipped.
"Clearly, things have changed", Melinda shrugged.
"In a good way", Elena added.
"Hey, Agents", Scott greeted as he stood there with the baffled Hope. "I am Scott Lang, Ant-Man, you heard of me?"
"Yes, we have files on both of you", Mack assured.
"YES! They know who I am! I am famous!" Scott cheered, hugging Hope.
"Congratulations", Hope groaned.
"Yes, just do not let it get to your head, Mr. Lang", T'Challa added as he appeared, all by himself, having left the Dora Milaje outside. "I am honored to be at this wedding."
"We're honored to meet you", Mack said as he held out his hand and T'Challa shook it.
"Yeah, heard a lot of great stuff about your country too", Daisy added.
"None of it is exaggerated", T'Challa shrugged as he shook hands with them all.
"Oh my God!" Gunn fanboyed on seeing T'Challa, and dragged the groaning Luke with him, and said. "Please, selfie!"
"Definitely", T'Challa smiled as Luke and T'Challa posed behind Gunn and he took a selfie of all three of them.
"Here I thought I was the biggest fanboy", Scott quipped to Hope.
"Yeah, he has you beat", Hope snickered.
Xander and Anya were looking around as Anya said. "Our wedding was more diverse."
"Humans and Demons there, humans and aliens here", Xander told her. "Equally diverse."
"Yeah, but we had different kinds of Demons", Anya reminded Xander.
"Different kinds of aliens", Xander shrugged.
"Demons numbered more."
"Fine, you win."
"YAY!"
Peter and Dawn saw the photographer Eddie Brock, hired by Lorne, walk in as Dawn asked Peter. "I thought you'd have photographed the whole wedding, considering how much you love that."
"I would but Lorne wanted to hire a professional, and I have not done it professionally yet", Peter pointed out to her.
"So, where will you work then?" Dawn asked.
"Daily Bugle."
A beat.
"Seriously? That guy has only criticized your alter-ego with falsehoods and propaganda, it was amusing at first but its annoying now", Dawn said with a sigh.
"Well, he wants pictures of Spider-Man, so I will take pictures of myself beating bad guys and give it to him, easy job", Peter said with a shrug.
"And if he asks how you get them?" Dawn asked.
"Exclusive deal, and well, if Spider-Man pays him a visit-"
The two snickered at the imagery as Brock walked to them. "Uhhh, where are the bride and groom?"
"Getting ready", Peter said.
"Don't worry, its gonna start in half an hour, till then we have refreshments for you", Dawn assured as she and Peter led Brock to where the drinks were kept.
"Eddie Brock, he is the Bugle's top photographer", Pepper noted, sitting with May.
"Well, wedding is special, and he is getting good treatment from the kids here", May said, looking at Peter and Dawn interacting friendlily with Eddie. "Speaking of kids, how is yours?"
"A bit of a trouble so far, but she's adorable, and she's ours?" Pepper said with a fond smile.
Bucky and Natasha watched the proceedings as Natasha asked. "When we get married, what kind of proceedings do you want?"
"Simple ones", Bucky told her. "And in Wakanda."
"Knew it", Natasha said with a smile.
"Come on lovebirds, the event for the lovebirds of the hour is about to start", Sam Wilson said as he arrived with Rhodes and Wanda.
"Sure", Bucky said as he and Natasha stood up.
"So, whose side am I supposed to sit on? Don't know either that well", Rhodes spoke up.
"Lorne has a chart on the wall outside the church", Clint said as he arrived with Laura, Lila, Cooper and Nathaniel. "Go take a look."
"Really, he does?" Rhodes asked.
"Oh yeah, he is the best wedding planner for sure", Laura told Rhodes.
"Yeah, never seen one better", Wanda added.
"Taking a look right now", Rhodes said as he walked off to take a look and find his seat.
Wanda and Clint then shared a hug as he asked. "How are you, kid?"
"Good, thanks to you", Wanda replied as they shared a smile and then she shared a hug and kiss on the cheek with Laura, and hugs with the kids too.
"Let's go now", Sam said as all went off.
Matt stood at the altar, standing near the priest who was an old man with a bushy moustache and a bright smile.
Everyone else sat or stood in position too.
Then the band played the bridal march as Faith appeared in her wedding dress which had a plunging neckline, lace sleeves and A-line skirt, and she was escorted by Angel, as he walked her down the aisle.
Matt couldn't see Faith, but he could imagine how she looked, and her face, and that made him happy.
Angel and Faith reached the end of the aisle as Angel handed Faith to Matt, clapped him on the shoulder, and then moved to the bride's side.
The priest then said. "I have wed people a lot in this part of the world, but after everything I have heard about these two people, and after seeing how happy all of you look here, I can see how much they love each other, this is my best wedding ever. So all I can say is- Excelsior! May the bride and groom speak out their vows?"
Faith cleared her throat and with a deep breath started. "I wanted these vows to be perfect, but perfection's a hard thing to get your hands on. But life is meant to be a little messy, I know it better than anyone. And when it comes to love, I think it's different from my calling. That, I got it at random, not something I was looking to sign up for, even if I accepted it. But something like this, you only sign up if it's the only thing you can ever imagine doing. And Matt, I cannot imagine spending a moment of my life without you. So I promise that I will always have your back as you will always have mine. You're my best friend, you're my home, and you are my true love, and I am yours and will be forever."
All had smiles and even tears of joy on hearing Faith's vows as Matt then took a breath and spoke. "I Matt Murdock take you Faith Lehane to be my companion, forever. And with you by my side I will never be alone. Though the world sees a strong and independent woman, also a little messy, I've never known someone with such gentle grace and more pure heart. When I've been lost you've always been there to bring me back, so on this day, at this moment, I pledge the rest of my life to you. You've always believed in me, and I believe in you. And when you believe in someone it's not for a minute, or just for now, it's forever."
Everyone present knew one thing- They wouldn't see a wedding as beautiful as this one again.
"May I ask to present the rings?" The priest then asked.
Lorne said into his comms. "Send in Ring Bear."
Matt and Faith had a shocked look, the latter's eyes widening, as they turned down the aisle, and so did everyone else.
Then they all went 'AWWWWWWWWWW'!
A Bernese Mountain Dog puppy trotted down the aisle with the bag holding the rings in his mouth, as Lorne leaned over, patting his head. "His name is Bear, and he's the cutest thing I've seen since the little nipper, I just knew he had to be part of the ceremony. I may be eccentric, but I'm not crazy enough to bring an actual bear to a wedding."
"I love our Ring Bear", Faith said, close to tears as the puppy was so cute, while Foggy took the rings and held them out.
Lorne then picked up the puppy who was wagging his tail excitedly, and then he sniffed baby Connor in Cordelia's arms and yipped happily.
"I think he likes you", Cordelia told Connor who let out a happy cheer, holding his hand out to the puppy and touching his head as Bear wagged his tail again, and everyone went 'AWWWWWWW' at the bit again.
Matt and Faith then put the rings on each other as the priest said. "Therefore, I pronounce you, husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Matt and Faith kissed passionately as everyone else applauded while Angel and Cordelia exchanged happy looks during their applause.
And then, a while later, when they had reached the reception which was Avengers Tower, they had dinner together for everyone.
Foggy tapped his fork against his glass, the clanging getting the attention of everyone in the room. "Hello everyone! It's me, Foggy Nelson, the best man, the best friend, and some might even say the best lawyer in New York." Foggy joked, some light chuckling escaping the crowd. "If someone had told me ten years ago that Matt Murdock would be getting married, I would ask what they were on, and if I could have some." Louder chuckling, Matt "glaring" at Foggy with Faith laughing into his shoulder. "Back in college, where Matt and I first met, we made a pact to be each other's eternal wingmen. We stuck by each other, in the classroom, court, everywhere. The wounded duck routine really worked so I wanted to get the most out of that while I could." Matt shook his head, grumbling as everyone laughed at his expense. Foggy himself was chuckling at his friend's misfortune before settling down. "Seriously though, most of the time, Matt's relationships didn't last long, I always thought it was because the man was more a player than I thought, but no. It was when I first met Faith that I realized the truth." Everyone silent now, paying rapt attention, the new wife wrapping her arms around her new husband's arm. "In life, precious few are able to establish that special connection called true love. I wouldn't know what it was if I didn't experience it myself." Foggy looked to his girlfriend Marci, who smiled back at him as he continued. "Then, during the worst moment in many of our lives, Matt opened his home to a woman in need. The same woman now sitting beside my best friend. Seeing those two, they way they talk, act, and are adorably and disgustingly cute together, I realized that they were experiencing true love, and I could not be happier." Matt's hand grasped Faith's on his, kissed her head leaning on his shoulder as he looked back at his partner standing beside him, and failed in holding back his tears. "Matt and Faith have went through many hardships and tragedies in life, but together, all the pain they suffered seemed to have been worth it, it led them to each other after all."
Foggy's own eyes also began to tear up, but he quickly wiped them with his sleeve. "Now I'm going to wrap this up before I ruin my makeup." Everyone let out surprised snorts and chuckles as Foggy picked up his glass, followed by everyone else. "Lets raise our glasses, to Matt Murdock, my brother, and fellow avocado," Matt tearfully snorted, and Foggy turned his attention to his best friend's wife, "and Faith Murdock, my awesome, new sister." Turning to the assembled crowd, Foggy raised his glass high. "To the happy couple!" Everyone cheered, with Foggy adding on at the end, "Slainte!"
Matt and Faith stood up and engulfed the best man in a tight hug.
Willow shared a look with Tara and stood up, tapping her own glass as attention turned to her. "Since Best Man gave a speech, Maid of Honor doesn't want to be left behind." Some chuckles went around that. "So, I'm Willow Rosenberg, Maid of Honor, good friend, I hope at least." Willow then continued. "So when I and Faith first met, we didn't have the best start, pretty bad one actually, I thought she was stealing my best friend from me, and so I didn't treat her too well. Things were done, words were said, you know the deal." Silence as all were giving all of their attention now. "So, I didn't think she'd end up at a good place in life, considering how she was. Then I did some, okay, a lot of stupid myself, and then, I found myself in Faith's shoes. I realized she was just like the rest of us, and had a hard life with obstacles thrown at her constantly, so she reacted in the only way she could. Takes one to know one, as I experienced it myself", Willow and Faith shared a tight and emotional smile. "So then, we became friends, we understood each other, always talked."
Willow shared a loving look with Tara. "So what I have with my wife Tara, I wished Faith would have it too. Now, she does, with Matt, these two have been through a lot, they deserve each other, they have earned their happiness. Let's our glasses to them both."
All cheered again as Matt and Faith hugged Willow as well.
A while later, Lorne announced on mic- "And now, the newly wedded couple shall have their first dance. Please have a big hand for Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Murdock."
There was applause as Matt and Faith smiled, taking hands, and walked further, sharing their first dance as a couple, looking very graceful while Lorne sang 'True Colors'.
"You with the sad eyes
Don't be discouraged, oh I realize
It's hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
The darkness inside you
Can make you feel so small
Show me a smile then
Don't be unhappy
Can't remember when
I last saw you laughing
This world makes you crazy
And you've taken all you can bear
Just call me up
'Cause I will always be there"
Matt and Faith continued their dance to the song, everyone mesmerized by them.
Then Lorne changed the song which was the signal for the other couples. Now it was 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough'.
"Oh hell yeah!" Quill cheered happily and turned to Nebula with puppy eyes. "Please, please, just this once, it's the song, please."
"Fine", Nebula said with a sigh.
"Thank you!" Quill said as the two walked to dance while Lorne sang.
And soon, other couples started joining them.
"Listen, baby,
Ain't no mountain high
Ain't no valley low,
Ain't no river wide enough, baby
If you need me, call me,
No matter where you are
No matter how far,
Don't worry, baby
Just call my name, I'll be there in a hurry
You don't have to worry
'Cause baby, there ain't no mountain high enough
Ain't no valley low enough,
Ain't no river wide enough
To keep me from getting to you, baby"
Spike and Buffy stood next to each other as Spike asked. "Missed me?"
"I did", Buffy said with a sigh as he held out his hand, and she grasped it as they danced together.
"So, are you going to stay in LA for now?" Buffy asked Spike.
"Yeah", Spike told her. "I love you, Buffy, but what's going on there, figure I'm needed."
"I get it", Buffy told him with a smile. "Just come back to me when it's done."
"There's nowhere else I'd go", Spike said as they kissed each other while dancing.
"Well, you wish we had done ours like this?" Willow asked Tara, since they had wed by themselves while going around the world, no one else had been invited, it was just the two of them.
"I think it was best to have ours to ourselves, I loved it more that way", Tara told Willow as they continued dancing.
"Guess so, though Faith was pissed as she wanted to be my Maid of Honor", Willow said as both snickered at the thought.
"Anya wanted to be one too", Tara said. "Still, best the way we did it."
"Yeah", Willow nodded.
Angel and Cordelia, Scott and Hope, Peter and Dawn, Xander and Anya, Bucky and Natasha, Bruce and Betty, Tony and Pepper, Clint and Laura, Danny and Colleen, Foggy and Marci, and various other couples were on the dance floor too now.
Fred was sitting and eating when Steve sat next to her.
"Oh, hi!" Fred greeted excitedly. "I know you, just not talked properly before, I'm-"
"Winifred 'Fred' Burkle, yeah, I know, hi", Steve greeted back. "You're not dancing?"
"Well…" Fred trailed off and looked at Gunn, who was chatting excitedly with Luke.
"Who would win between you and Bane? Just kidding, of course you would."
Wesley and Giles were talking to T'Challa.
"Wakanda can provide your new collaborative Council with resources if you'd like", T'Challa assured them both.
"Thank you, we appreciate it", Giles said.
"No one to dance with", Fred finally said as she turned to Steve.
"I like your accent", Steve complimented as both shared a chuckle while she nodded in appreciation.
"I like your Brooklyn twang", Fred complimented and Steve nodded in appreciation too.
"Thanks", he said.
"Thanks", she said too. "You don't have anyone to dance with either."
"No I don't", Steve sighed.
"I figured there'd be a line of women for you", Fred quipped as Steve snickered.
"Well, reality disappoints", Steve sighed.
"I get the feeling", Fred told him as they shared a look.
"So…" Steve then asked. "Do you want to dance?"
"Yeah, thanks", Fred said with a smile as she and Steve held hands and walked to the dance floor to dance.
Lorne then announced. "Now, the married couple must do a duet, come on!"
Matt and Faith then shared a smile and walked up as Lorne said. "Go on!"
The two took deep breaths and Matt began-
"My love, there's only you in my life
The only thing that's right"
Then Faith continued-
"My first love
You're every breath that I take
You're every step I make"
Like that, they did their duet of 'Endless Love' and got a standing ovation when they were finished.
Lorne then said. "Now, duet between groom and me, the planner."
Matt snickered as Faith kissed his cheek and walked off, then all cheered as Matt and Lorne did a duet of their own.
"The Handsome Singing Devils everybody", Lorne said as all of them cheered.
"Everybody
Rock your body
Everybody
Rock your body right
Backstreet's back alright
Oh my God we're back again
Brothers, sisters, everybody sing
We're gonna bring the flavor show you how
I've gotta question for ya
Better answer now
Am I original? (yeah)
Am I the only one? (yeah)
Am I sexual? (yeah)
Am I everything you need?
You better rock you body now
Everybody
Rock your body
Everybody
Rock your body right
Backstreet's back alright"
More applause went around, this being the most fun any of them had for a long time, especially Matt and Faith as this was their special day.
Finally, with the cake cutting and late snacks, it was done, as Eddie then stood near Matt, Faith and Lorne, showing the latter two the pictures.
"This is all of it", Eddie said, showing them all the pictures- Outside the church, the bride and the groom, them with the bridesmaids and groomsmen, the couple with Maggie, the Best Man and Maid of Honor, and then all of them together. "I think your wedding album is set."
"Knew you were the perfect choice amigo, love ya", Lorne quipped as Eddie chuckled. "You will get all the payment you deserve, and you deserve a lot."
"Yeah, thanks Eddie", Faith said as she shook hands with him.
"I can't see it but I know of your reputation, so great job", Matt said as he shook hands with Eddie too.
"No problem people", Eddie said as he tapped their shoulders, then walked off, meeting Peter.
"I think I know this camera", Peter told Eddie. "It is the-"
"Nope, its an older one, I modified it", Eddie revealed, surprising Peter.
"You did?" He asked. "Seriously?"
"Yeah kid", Eddie smirked.
With that, the two descended into technobabble that Dawn, Buffy and Spike nearby struggled to understand.
"Understand anything?" Spike asked.
"Not a word", Dawn shook her head.
"Me neither", Buffy shrugged.
"You really pulled all stops on the wedding", Matt told Lorne, patting his shoulder. "Thank you."
"Oh it was a pleasure buddy", Lorne said with a smile.
Maggie arrived, telling Lorne. "Thank you for everything you did for my son and daughter-in-law, you made this the greatest day ever."
"You never told me you had a sister", Lorne quipped to Matt as he and Maggie chuckled, then Lorne turned to Maggie. "Well, what can I say, I've had few friends as good looking as him, yet has the voice of an angel. Your son is the total package, if Wonder Woman didn't snag him when she did, I'd have married him myself."
All three chuckled. This was the best day ever.
Finally, the farewell was done for both the bride and groom as Matt and Faith arrived at the suite in their hotel, which was Four Seasons, and had Bear with them, as they could keep him permanently, though only in New York, so Foggy and Marci would have him while Matt and Faith were in LA.
"He is so cute", Faith said as she lifted Bear and cooed at him. "Aren't you, little guy? You are the cutest little Bear ever, and you bear rings well."
Bear yipped happily as Faith cuddled him while Matt sighed. "Guess we're getting a dog."
At his home, Foggy cheered happily. "YES!"
"What's the matter?" Marci asked in confusion.
"No idea", Foggy shook his head. "Just felt victorious for whatever reason."
Matt and Faith lay in bed together, Bear lying near the bed as Faith said. "Well, never thought it would happen, but it finally did, and I am the happiest woman alive."
"I am the happiest man alive too", Matt told Faith as they turned to each other.
"I love you Matthew Murdock", Faith said to Matt.
"I love you too Faith Lehane Murdock", Matt said to Faith as they shared another passionate and loving kiss.
The two of them were now united in love and holy matrimony forever.
The vows were taken from Clark and Lois in 'Smallville' and modified because those are my favorite wedding vows in any TV show, alongside FitzSimmons in AoS.
And thank you to Stand with Ward and Queen for suggesting Tara's maiden name 'Hart' as she is the heart of the Scoobies.
The priest was Stan Lee of course, but you all knew that.
Now Matt and Faith are married at last, and hope the whole ceremony was enjoyed. Thanks a lot to Brainstorm Sorcerer for his help once more and to Bl4ckHunter and Rutkowski for their suggestions.
Hope the Eddie Brock cameo was enjoyed too.
So these characters have appeared in every story of this series so far- Willow, Angel, Tara, Buffy, Dawn, Giles, Xander, Anya, Peter and Steve! I counted. And they will be in all stories of this series it seems.
With this done, we shall be back to Angel Season 5 with next chapter, this time with no breaks, so 'Smile Time' to 'Not Fade Away', here we come!
Hope all enjoyed and see you all next time with another chapter.
