You arrive inside the building proper and glance around, your eyes falling on the woman at the other side of the confined space a moment later. It's none other than Evenor, and your eyes narrow at the sight of her.
Evenor: I see that you've arrived for the final battle.
Cordelia: So you already recognize that you've lost what's going to be coming next?
Evenor: No… But one way or another, one of us won't be leaving this place ever again. That seems rather final and conclusive to me, wouldn't you agree?
Cordelia: We're done talking. You've caused more than enough problems for the world, and I'm not going to let you get away with it.
Evenor: Rion, you truly have fallen in with the wrong crowd… You should be here. In another life, you could have easily been the vessel for Nemesis… You could have been everything to us.
You shake your head and say that You will not be used as an instrument in their vengeance nor will You ally yourself with her once more after all she has done.
Evenor: I did what I had to in order to stay afloat. We were shoved to the side by the goddess and her people because they believed themselves superior to us… You should have been our chance for revenge, and after that, the war.
You tell her that You have made the right decision.
Evenor: You will never forget what I say here today… Is your land truly something worth defending? Is this something that you should be looking after, or are you simply deceiving yourself? That is something that you will have to answer on your own.
You say that You are defending those who need to be taken care of.
Evenor: Even though you know everything that the goddess and her people have done to us?
You nod, insisting that the people that are currently alive are innocent in the sins of the past.
Evenor: I would have thought you to have more sympathy than that.
You tell her that You will never again have her way in harming others.
Evenor: Progress requires making difficult decisions. Shambhala has moved forward because of my research, and if you believe that I made the wrong choice, then that is your opinion… And it is an incorrect one.
Cordelia: You're willing to sacrifice lives and souls because you want to move forward in the name of some ambiguous sense of 'progress'? Do you have any idea how ridiculous you sound? This war is not progress. All that you have done to harm people is not progress. You're disgusting.
Evenor: Perhaps, but I know what must be done. That's the reason that we're at odds to begin with, is it not?
You continue to glare at her.
Evenor: Though I suppose that all of us have had more than enough of talking now… If that's how you feel, then allow us to get on with the show. We both know what comes next… Just know that at one point, I would have never imagined this would come to pass. At one point… Perhaps I would have done anything for you to be on my side. But times have changed, and we have as well. ...Let us see whose ideals are victorious.
The battle begins from there. Evenor is not alone, instead surrounding herself with other Agarthan soldiers. Rather than taking advantage of the chaos to escape, she stands her ground, and You assume that she is determined to see the strength of your ideals no matter what comes next for her. You follow up on her silent invitation and fight your way to her.
If You initiate combat with Evenor, the following dialogue plays out.
Evenor: I hoped that we would never come to arms this way against one another… But I suppose that life is filled with things that we wish to avoid. This is the end of our battle, Rion… I know what I did for you, and you do as well. I gave you the strength that you currently possess, and it will remain within you regardless of how this battle ends… You owe more to me than you realize… Ironic, isn't it? If I had never constructed you this way-if I had never given you this power-then we would have never come to clash… How strange life's machinations can be.
If Cordelia initiates combat with Evenor, the following dialogue plays out.
Cordelia: After all that you've done, you don't deserve to live.
Evenor: Who gave you the ability to decide who deserves life?
Cordelia: You've killed countless people with your experiments.
Evenor: Sacrifices must be made in the name of advancement and progress.
Cordelia: But lives should not be the line that you do not cross.
Evenor: This world is a cruel one. The sooner you learn that, the better.
Cordelia: Of course I'm aware of it… And if the world is as harsh as you claim, then you should understand what has to come next.
Evenor: I do… But you will not see victory. This is where it ends for you.
Cordelia: We'll simply have to see, won't we?
If Chris initiates combat with Evenor, the following dialogue plays out.
Chris: I can feel the rage in your eyes from here… Good to know that your animosity is as strong as ever.
Evenor: Argades was more deserving of the throne than you ever could be. He was of the royal bloodline… You are not.
Chris: My existence stole all that you had been working towards. I am fully aware of such a fact… But I can't say that I regret ousting you from power even if I was unaware of it at the time.
Evenor: I did what your father requested.
Chris: And my father was disgusting all the same.
Evenor: You should not exist to begin with. Everything would be better if Argades had killed you five years ago.
Chris: Maybe so… But I have to avenge those who were not able to take the throne in my stead. Surely you understand that as their killer.
Evenor: Hmph… Ever the thorn in my side.
Chris: It's a talent of mine.
If Hegias initiates combat with Evenor, the following dialogue plays out.
Hegias: I have to ask you, Evenor… Did you ever care about me?
Evenor: ...I cared for you more than you could ever realize. That is why I gave you strength, provided you with the Crest that you idolized to such a degree.
Hegias: I tried to convince myself for years that I was wrong about what happened… All I remembered were flashes from the experimentation.
Evenor: It was a mercy of mine… Your father struggled when I offered him the Crest. He didn't want it once the process began. I wanted to spare you from that.
Hegias: And I was set to be another one of the test subjects to become Nemesis… But you never mentioned that. After all, I wound up with the wrong Crest to potentially bring him back to this world.
Evenor: If the goddess can return, perhaps others can as well.
Hegias: You're wrong. You have no idea what you're talking about.
Evenor: Say that as much as you please. I know what I did, and I did what was best for all of us… Even if you've betrayed that.
Hegias: ...I still yearn for the days when you taught me how to handle a weapon so many years ago… But I know that they will never return.
Evenor: Because you have a job to do with your new team… Unfortunate.
Hegias: I'm sorry that it had to come to this… And… Thank you for the time we once shared.
Evenor: ...You're welcome, Hegias.
If anyone else initiates combat with Evenor, the following dialogue plays out.
Evenor: I suggest you retreat at this time… You are not the one that I am here to fight. But if you insist on engaging with me… You will simply sign your death warrant.
When Evenor is defeated, the following dialogue plays out.
Evenor: So it seems… We have found a victor…
After the battle, You stand in front of Evenor with Cordelia. She has collapsed on the ground and is leaning against the wall for support.
Evenor: So… You have proven your resolve after all this time…
You say that everything she has done is nothing short of disgusting.
Evenor: I did what I had to… It's a shame that you don't see that.
You shake your head and say that progress is never worth sacrificing the lives of the innocent.
Evenor: Is anyone truly innocent? They were necessary to be used in the plan to begin with… Though I suppose that now, it will never come to fruition. My knowledge will die with me.
You nod and say that is for the best after all the damage she has caused.
Evenor: ...Once, I may have thought of you as like my child… I never had a wish for a family of my own, but you were something special.
You tell her that your family can be found in Janae.
Evenor: I had a feeling that you would say as much… You clung to her even as a child. It was only after you gave up hope of ever seeing her again that you allowed me into your heart.
You ask her what your lives were like years ago.
Evenor: You were strong… You had the potential to tear the world apart if you so chose… You would have been perfect, and yet… Now, you are my foe.
You say that You will be the one to serve justice in the name of those who she has killed.
Evenor: That was another thing about you… Your sense of right and wrong was always powerful, and now… It will be my demise.
You apologize that it had to end this way.
Evenor: It was bound to come to this one way or another… The instant you set foot in that monastery, your fate was sealed.
You nod and tell her that You have chosen the right path.
Evenor: In another life… Perhaps things could have been different…
You raise Sirius and plunge it into her chest. All too quickly, she falls still, and You pull your blade free of her chest. You look down at the blood dripping from the steel as Cordelia speaks.
Cordelia: How do you feel?
You tell her that You know You did what was right.
Cordelia: How about her question? She wanted you to think about whether you were defending what was right or not. She was wondering if you thought that she and the other Agarthans were justified.
You say that even if the Agarthans were hurt many years ago, it does not justify attempting to hurt so many innocent people. You also tell her that Evenor's drive for her supposed justice killed more people than could be counted: the ones that You could have once called family years ago.
Cordelia: It's true… Your siblings… They're all gone now. Everything has changed compared to the way that it once was. And she… Her progress wasn't worth it in the slightest.
You nod.
Cordelia: The Agarthans held tightly to revenge because it was all that they had… They clung to the idea of defeating the people on the surface because it was the only thing they could count on. They were betrayed many years ago, and everything in the last thousand years has been in the name of revenge.
You look down at Evenor somberly.
Cordelia: I'm going to do what I can to foster relations with the Agarthans that did not lash out against us. Surely there are some others out there who wish for peace… Cyrus and Druilla were evidence of that. Perhaps we can find a way for them to live in harmony the way that they should have all along.
You say that You feel the same way.
Cordelia: Our war is over at last, and we have found our answers… For now though, we have to help heal this land and its people-all of its people-of the scars left behind. Now… Will you join me?
Cordelia reaches out a hand to You, and You accept it. You offer a final glance to Evenor, remorse filling your chest at all that has taken place. Still, You are able to tear your gaze away from Evenor's corpse eventually, and You turn to the entrance of the building. A moment later, You and Cordelia begin to walk, off to find a brighter future for everyone in the aftermath of this bloody conflict and all of its affiliated strife.
The scene will shift to the Goddess Tower if an S-Support was chosen. Their S-Support scene will play out here, but if no person was selected, the next segment will show immediately instead.
The Knights of Seiros led the charge in forging a brighter future for all the people of Fódlan. Even in a world scarred by war, they were able to foster peace and beauty, helping all those who had been harmed by the conflict to recover. A people driven to vengeance began to heal, and the woman at the forefront of the tragedy was laid to rest alongside those that she had done so much to damage. It would take many years for the land to fully recover in the aftermath of the war, but Cordelia Torryn led countless people to new light and hope at the prospect of a greater dawn. The Knights of Seiros had never been greater, and the Church of Seiros only found prosperity thanks to the knights' noble actions.
