I Don't own Honkai Impact 3rd nor Ben 10
With Catherine
"Hello Miss Rita? It's me Director Catherin." Said Catherine.
"How may I be of service Director?" Rita asked the director.
"First of I wanted to say that we appreciate your prompt Payment, and secondly I believe that you and Miss Beverly have gotten into a major bottleneck and I've been wondering if you need some help from my side." Catherine said as she managed to grab the Maid's attention.
"Very well, Director Catherine, your services would be greatly appreciated." Rita said.
"Marvelous, see each-other tomorrow morning." Catherine said.
"Indeed." Rita agreed.
The Following Day
Rita and Beverly got out of the car as the latter stopped her car in front of the British Museum.
"So we are back to this place aren't we." Beverly remarked as she looked at the Museum.
"Indeed." Rita agreed with Beverly as she got out of the car and saw Catherine opening the door to greet them.
"Oh, Miss Beverly, Miss Rita you are earlier than I expected." Catherine, who was standing in front of the building, said with surprise as she saw the Valkyries.
"Well, we didn't have anything on our hands and we thought that it'd be best to continue where we left off our search." Beverly said.
"Very well, please follow me, we can discuss the matter inside my office." Catherine told the two as she made way for them inside.
Inside
"We, do have to thank you for your hospitality Director Catherine, is there anything my partner and I may be of assistance?" Rita asked while Beverly drank her tea.
"Hmmm, this is fine tea." Beverly thought to herself as she liked the bitter aftertaste of the tea.
"Please do pardon my bluntness. I am incredibly infuriated by the attacks done against our museum, Ladies. And as a Custodian of the British history and Heritage I cannot allow this to stand and am determined to bring the perpetrators to justice. However the attack also revealed the vital importance of your mission, please allow me to lend you my humble assistance to aid your cause." Catherine said.
Beverly couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at this, usually people would try to stay out of things that Schicksal dealt with.
"How curious." Beverly thought to herself, if she hadn't been working for the Overseer and doing Black ops and being part of several Black Projects, such as testing the 1st generation of the Godslayer Battlesuits, and some less than ethical enhancement programs thought that wouldn't be anything Beverly would tell her mother, they were black operations and projects for a reason.
"Thank you very much for your willingness to help us in our mission, though despite the confidential nature of me and my partner's mission, we would be thankful if you could share any more information in regards to the Arthurian legends." Rita said which made Catherine think for a moment.
"The Arthurian Legends? Very well, I will do my best to tell you everything I know." Catherine told the Duo, and began to tell them what she knew.
"Well... I do believe that you two have carried out your own research, Miss Rita, Miss Beverly. And Probably have found that you have discovered that various Scholars have interpreted the Legend in their own manner, Thomas Malory's Le Mort d'Arthur being the most famous interpretation of the legend." Catherine told them.
"Through countless victories in many battles, the Young Monarch became the most famous king British History. But his life and reign came to an end due to some tragic betrayals form the people that he believed to be his confidants... Though no reliable recorded sources exists or have been found." Catherine said as she put down her tea cup.
"Would you Miss Beverly and Miss Rita entertain a strange idea I've had for some time... That the Legend of King Arthur may be more akin to a metaphor for something more than History." Catherine said which got some raised eyebrows from the Valkyries.
"Indeed, director. It is well known that legends have a grain of truth to them." Rita said.
"And it is common knowledge that Legends are written by people, who wish or have been commissioned to embellish the exploits for favors, political purposes, or simply to create a sense of nationalism, case in point Alexander the Great who claimed to be a descendant of Zeus, or Julius Caesar who claimed that his family was descendent by the goddess Venus." Beverly said as she took a sip off her tea cup.
"You are correct on that point Miss Beverly, Though that's besides the point, I want to know whether you and Miss Rita have heard of Avalaon, King Arthur's final resting place?" Catherine asked the duo as she walked towards a picture depicting a coastline.
"It is said to be an Island paradise not of this world." Answered Rita.
"I have cause to believe that the Legend made a Mistake. The Real Arthur never found the place. And like you just said it may not be of this world, but it may exist on another side of the spacetime fabric." Said Catherine.
"Another Side of the spacetime fabric?" Rita asked Catherine.
"Indeed, And to find Avalon Arthur and Merlin embarked on a quest... The enchanter also gave Arthur a Devine sword, a weapon from Avalon capable of slicing between the fabric of time... Making it the only means to go to that place. Although, despite having this weapon at his side, he was never able to find or reach Avalon his entire life." Catherine said as she handed Rita the notebook.
"Wait, so while Arthur never found Avalon, it actually exists?" Rita asked with raised eyebrow
"Indeed, and the Legends also paid great deal of detail to the miracles of Merlin, as it was Merlin the one that led the young Arthur to the road of Kingship, and was responsible for the rise of the Arthurian Legends. Though that may be some small speculation on my part, but I am extremely certain that "Merlin" is based off of a real person." Catherin said which got Beverly and Rita thinking.
"Maybe we should have a look at Merlin, don't you agree Rita?" Beverly asked her companion.
"Indeed." Rita agreed with Beverly.
"Hold on for a moment, here comes my field of expertise..." Catherine said as she went to grab something and after a few minutes she returned with a large stack of papers
"I've compiled this humble stack after many years of research feel free to look through, Ladies." Catherine said with a sense of pride in her tone.
"Thank you... It's exactly, what we needed..." Rita said with a hint of hesitation, as she and Beverly wondered how would one person make such a large stack researching for a single topic.
"Thank you very much for you kind assistance, Director Catherine." Rita thanked the Director while Beverly was behind the Maid, holding the stack of the research paper that Catherine gave them.
"What my partner said, Chief." Beverly said.
"Thank you, the pleasure was all mine, Ladies." Catherine said as they passed by the Arthurian exposition, which still had the large hole in the wall.
"Ugh, those dammed vandals smashed the fresco you studied the yesterday, Another important piece of history lost to senseless violence." Catherine said with anger in her tone.
"Wait. What's this?" Rita asked as she noticed a metallic glow coming from one of the fragments of the broken fresco.
The Overseer's sanctum
"That's, Solium..." Otto said with surprise lacing his tone.
"They managed to imbed Solium in a stone slab for thousands of years, it appears that the mission has gotten more and more interesting..." Otto said with some surprise.
"Sorry to interject sir, but this seem highly convenient, won't you agree? And who knows, maybe the sudden appearance of Soluim may indicate that maybe just maybe we are being led into a trap?" Asked Beverly.
"I do have to take, Beverly's side in this argument sire, the appearance of Solium does indeed feel very convenient." Rita said in agreement with Beverly.
"Nothing to worry about ladies, and this piece seems to be an actual artifact from the previous era. It also contains data relating to the 2nd Divine Key." Otto said with some astonishment in his tone.
"I'm lost what is it again? It's not as if knowledge of the 2nd Devine Key is exactly common knowledge around here." Beverly asked with a frown on her face.
"Right. Previous Era scientists created the 2nd Divine key by using the core taken from the Herrscher of the Void. We're unsure of it's exact functions, but we are led to believe by the data in the Solium fragment that it has the capability of opening interdimensional portals." Otto explained.
"Oh, and why did they intend to do with this?" Beverly asked him
"Humanity of the previous Era attempted to use the 2nd Divine key in order to explore the Sea of Quanta, perhaps they sought the means to defeat the Honkai. But every record regarding the matter seemed to have been lost, or has been corrupted severely." Otto told them
"Sea of Quanta? Maybe this place has an Island that happens to be named Avalon?" Rita asked him.
"Indeed, and it'd appears that the museum Director's "speculation" fits very well with the data within the Solium. King Arthur's divine sword seems to be the 2nd Divine key, according the Ancient Britons description. And this Avalon is a bubble universe that is floating somewhere within the Sea of Quanta. It'd appears that we have learned something Valuable today." Otto said as he leaned on his chair.
"Rita, Beverly I have to remind you two that the 2nd Divine key is of the most vital importance in our war against the Honkai. And we must acquire it no matter the cost." Said Otto.
"We will see to it that it is done, lord Otto." Sid Beverly and Rita at the same time.
"Oh, and before I leave you ladies to your mission..." Otto said catching Beverly and Rita's attention.
"I will be allocating an assistant for you to ensure your safety and success." Otto told them.
"Assistant?" Rita asked him.
"Can't we take Bianca's assistance in the mission?" Beverly asked him.
"Come now Beverly, Durandal has earned her vacation and it'd a shame if we interrupted it now." Otto told Beverly.
"As you say boss." Beverly said.
Somewhere in Dubai
"Captain Matilla! We've received a mission brief! Straight from HQ!" Said a green haired girl to her red haired captain as she saw a mission brief from Otto.
"From HQ?!They've finally noticed out true potential! Alright Girls! It's time to head to a place where the real was is raging." The Captain said, then clanched her prosthetic arm.
"This is our chance to prove our true worth, Zofia! All our sacrifices would not be in vain once become S-rankers." Matilla said.
"Just let me read through the mission brief first..." Zofia said as her bright brown eyes, widened in surprise.
"Susannah! get out of the damned shower or we will leave you behind!" Matilla ordered.
And then a Blond girl, came out of the shower, with a towel covering her body.
"I'm done! I'm done! Wait for me! Sorry for taking so long, captain!" Susannah apologized.
"I'm sorry, Captain but... HQ only asked for Valkyrie Susannah." Said Zofia causing Matilla to have a jaw dropping moment.
"What the...?! ARE WE A JOKE TO THEM?!" Matilla demanded while Susanna felt out of the loop at what was going on in front of her.
With Rita and Beverly
"Well that was interesting." Remarked Beverly as Otto cut of comms.
"Indeed, I wonder why Lord Otto, requested that girl specifically." Rita said.
"Who knows, maybe we will fin out soon enough, anyways this whole talk about missions has made me hungry, what to go somewhere for lunch, my treat? We can also invite Bianca with us." Beverly told Rita.
"Very well." Rita agreed.
