Here's the second chapter and the battle of the monsters. And I hope it's epic enough for everyone. And I admit I haven't' been posting or updating once a week like I used to. It's just that sometimes lately I haven't been fully in the mood to write. But hopefully I'll swing back into the groove of things and return to posting once a week like I used to.
Disclaimer: I don't own "The Flash" or "Agents Of Shield".
The sharks and apes battled each other mightily, slamming their fists and fins together while biting at each other's skin, drawing droplets of red blood on both sides, and striking each other brutally. They also leapt upwards into the air and onto different elevations, such as the rooftops of vehicles and small businesses and the sides of tall statues and other areas, where they continued to engage in battle.
The heroes, agents, police officers, and everyone in the city all observed the spectacle in awe and slight trepidation as the two groups of beasts violently wrestled with each other and slammed and rolled each other onto the ground while pounding their closed fists onto each other's chests and abdomens. The apes also bashed their shields onto the sharks heads and sides while violently driving their spears into their hearts, killing many of them.
The monsters leapt upwards and onto the rooftops of buildings where they continued to brutally battle it out, tugging and pulling at each other while the apes swung their fists onto their opponents heads in furious strikes and sending the latters' heads snapping backwards and to the side with groans.
The gorillas and sharks also climbed along skyscrapers together and ferociously bashed, brutalized, and slashed at each other with their hands while hanging onto the sides of said skyscrapers.
In addition to clashing on top of the rooftops, the two sets of beasts also leapt from rooftop to rooftop while continuing to strike and claw at each other and many times wrestling in their air together during each leap.
There were also scenes across the city during which the apes leapt downwards after the sharks and after jumping onto their enemies backs, wrapped their hairy arms around the sharks necks in a tight stranglehold and twisted their necks, both beasts midair, killing the amphibians.
While there were a significant amount of casualties on the enemies side there was also not a shortage of deaths among the gorillas ranks, many of them being inflicted with grievous mortal wounds which they quickly succumbed to. Other times the sharks wrestled the spears away from the apes and used the weapons against them, driving the spears into their hearts, stomachs, and the sides of their necks which sent crimson blood spurting from their necks as they collapsed onto the ground.
Though the gorillas still fought hard and gave it their all and in some moments after they'd wrestled the sharks to the ground they raised their feet and slammed them fast and hard onto the sides of the sharks heads, smashing their opponents heads inwards which also killed them.
Team Flash and their S.H.I.E.L.D. friends couldn't help but not only wince but even weep during each moment one of their comrades on the apes side fell in battle. And not only them but also the citizens of the city who the heroes, agents, and officers were scrambling to move to safety and away from the crossfire between the monsters, them seeing that the apes were thankfully on their side.
The good news however was that while there were casualties on both sides, there were more on the sharks side than on the gorillas side and so there was that.
The heroes and agents were also doing all they could to help Grodd and his armies, blasting the sharks with their plasma rifles while the speedsters, Frost, and Cisco with Allegra on their parts fired off respective yellow and orange Speed Force lighting, cold blast, vibe blast, and ultraviolet energy at them which helped Grodd maintain the advantage against King Shark.
In one stunning sight, five sharks on the ground and in a line lifted up their heads towards the night sky and released beams of fiery blue energy from their mouths which blasted upwards and towards the high-rise buildings in front of them with the intent to obliterate said buildings while five gorillas also in a line leapt downwards from the buildings rooftops, their hands clutching their respective spears upwards and over their heads while pointed upside down, and met the sharks head first while the spectators below feared the apes were about to be pulverized before they could accomplish their current objective.
There was no fear written upon the apes faces however as they continued soaring downwards and towards the sharks fiery blasts until once close enough they plunged their spears into their enemies heads, the spears going through the top of their heads and then penetrating downwards and out of their lower jaws as the sharks clutched their heads with their hands and growled in anger and agony before collapsing to the ground dead.
While the tremendous clashes between the two sets of beasts was truly a site to behold, the most spectacular and brutal one was the one on one duel between Gorilla Grodd and King Shark themselves, the two alpha beasts mightily battling it out and refusing to give ground but merciless in their attacks upon each other.
The two beasts fought ferociously and violently, bashing each other's bodies onto the ground repeatedly and exchanging tremendously powerful punches while wrestling each other with all of the strength and force they could muster. They also grabbed ahold of each other's shoulders and rammed each other against the sides of buildings and other structures while pummeling each other's bodies with their fists, knees, and heads.
In one instance they banged their heads together, Grodd still wearing his helmet, sending both of them staggering backwards before reorienting themselves and continuing their clash. They tossed each other repeatedly to the ground and ran at each other while exchanging mighty strikes, strong kicks, and jabs.
They fought throughout the city and Grodd forcefully bashed his enemy's body multiple times with his shield to which King Shark retaliated by flinging him back to the ground and raising his fists gave him a mighty pummeling, battering him left to right and right to left while grabbing ahold of his head and repeatedly slamming it on the ground.
Grodd refused to take it lying down and managing to lift his hind legs propelled him off of his body sending the other beast flying off of him and onto his stomach. Not wasting any time, Grodd quickly launched himself back onto his feet and leaping upon him, returned the favor and using his fists brutally pounded his enemy for all the latter was worth and not holding back.
As Grodd raised his fists to pound King Shark once more, the latter, although heavily bruised, quickly rolled around and raising his hand quickly grabbed ahold of one of the former's fists midair as it came quickly slamming downwards and rapidly getting back to his feet went at him with a ferocious speed and continued boxing and clawing him. Grodd on his part met every strike as the two monsters violently fought, knees jabbing, rolling along the ground, and taking turns tossing each other to the sides of buildings and then each countering by brutally pounding each other's stomachs, sides, and shoulders.
After some time they disengaged from their hold during which King Shark opened his mouth and unleashed his own fiery beam of energy from it to which Grodd responded by lifting his shield upwards and using it to meet the blast. The two monsters stood firm, feet planted onto the ground and across from each other as the mighty amphibian continuously blasted his fiery energy blast towards him while Grodd stood firm and held his shield high as he used it to catch the blast.
Eventually King Shark put an end to his blast and ran at Grodd again to which the latter quickly leapt away from him and swung from building to building while the alpha shark's footsteps rapidly pounded behind him as he chased the king of the apes. As the chase progressed Grodd turned and facing his opponent swung his legs and barreled the former backwards each time he got too close to him while doing his best to maintain the advantage of distance.
At one point Grodd jumped back to the ground and then turning and facing the giant shark propelled himself upwards and along the side of a building before coming back down and lifting up his right arm swung a powerful punch upon King Shark's abdomen before following it up by swinging a fist upward and making impact with the underside of the latter's lower jaw in a one two combo strike.
King Shark's head snapped backwards from the impact before he fell to the ground dazed and rubbed his throbbing jaw after which he let out a loud growl and righting himself back up maintained the chase and this continued for some time while he continued unleashing more fiery beams towards the ape, the beams many times making impact with buildings and other structures and setting them ablaze while in many cases leaving frightened citizens trapped as they struggled to escape the flames.
Thankfully however Barry, Wally, and Frost were on hand and continuing to help protect the city with their fellow heroes and agent friends as the explosive fight continued to progress. Working together the speedsters sped towards the buildings engulfed in flames and spinning their arms outwards generated enough wind which disintegrated the billowing flames while Frost unleashed icy cold blasts to snuff out other raging fires and the three of them maintained this as King Shark continued setting buildings on fire during each of his attempts to engulf Grodd with one of his energy blasts.
Grodd then switched tactics and propelling himself back down to the ground lifted up the parked vehicles around him and threw them at King Shark one after another, some of which made impact with his body and sent him falling backwards due to the top speed and force Grodd launched them at him and at other times he caught with his hands and using his own momentum threw them back at Grodd, the giant ape either tossing them to the side or also getting struck by them at times.
Tiring of this each monster ran towards each other once more and Grodd leapt onto King Shark's back and holding onto him, bit hard onto his enemy's neck, drawing blood, while the latter growled in fury and pain while flinging his head around from side to side. Soon however he managed to release himself from Grodd's grip though Grodd then took ahold of him and curling his own arm slammed his bent elbow downwards and delivered a mighty lower cut onto the back of the alpha shark's neck and then grabbing the latter's head he continuously bashed it against the side of a skyscraper, terrifying the people inside of it as they watched King Shark's head being whammed repeatedly onto it from the outside.
After a bit Grodd ceased from this and taking his spear attempted to drive it into his enemy's heart except King Shark quickly grabbed ahold of it with his teeth as it lunged towards him, ripping it from Grodd's hand, and jerking his head sideways spat out the spear and it clattered to the ground nearby.
Grodd angrily roared in response and they resumed their climatic battle once more and they were beating and punching each other far in a brutal beat down but one far more brutal than ever before while either falling or tossing each other onto the ground a number of times. They also drove their knees into each other's midsections multiple times.
As they fought, King Shark took ahold of Grodd's shoulders yet again and this time pressed down onto him in an attempt to crush the latter with his own weight. Grodd groaned in response as he was almost crushed but thinking quickly, grabbed ahold of both of his opponent's arms and tugging at them hard managed to relinquish himself from the grip and after flipping King Shark up and over himself he then slammed his hand into his enemy's chest, sending the giant shark barreling backwards across from him and onto the ground.
King Shark laid on the ground a bit, panting, until he rolled himself onto his hands and knees and lifting himself up turned to face Grodd as the latter, having retrieved his spear nearby, came charging towards him to which the former met his charge though Grodd reached him first and proceeded to strike him with the second upper cut of their fight except this time it sent him high up into the air and then crashing back downwards to the ground and onto his back with a mighty thud.
Before King Shark could attempt to recover, Grodd was upon him and lifting up his foot he pressed it against the former's chest and pinned him to the ground, paralyzing him in place. The two opponents stared at each other for some time, pure loathing and hatred shining intensely in their eyes, until Grodd bent his face into King Shark's face and let out a bellowing roar to which the latter countered with a mighty roar of his own, the two beasts growling in each other's faces.
They eventually ceased and then Grodd lifted up his spear upwards and over his bitter enemy and without preamble plunged it downwards and into his heart, killing him and finally vanquishing his foe.
Meanwhile and despite heavy casualties on both sides, the apes around this time had finally managed to gain the upper hand against the sharks and slew the majority of them though a few who saw that the tide had turned against them quickly fled the city before the apes could finish them off.
The battle having concluded, a sense of peace and tranquility settled over and enveloped the entire city and soon there was jubilant rejoicing everywhere from the citizens and strong relief in the air. The heroes and agents along with Joe and Patty were also among those celebrating their victory and feeling relieved that it was finally over, everyone among them embracing their friends and partners respectively and also with the males slapping each other on the back.
The apes on their part were also growling in victory and pounding their respective chests like a drum.
"Well this was certainly some evening and something I wouldn't mind not repeating ever again," Coulson said to Barry and the others with a smile as he exchanged embraces with them.
"Same here man and at least it's now over," Barry agreed with a nod while returning his smile.
Meanwhile Elena ran up to Mack upon his return to the others and leapt onto him while wrapping her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist.
"Mack Mi Amor. You're okay I was so worried about you," she gushed as she held him tightly.
"It's alright I'm okay though I wouldn't say the same about any of those sharks," Mack reassured his girlfriend and then stated with a grin, causing them both to let out a chuckle. "But no matter what I'll always return to you," he then added seriously to which she smiled at him with all of her love.
Lance on his part had just finished giving Bobbi a very amorous kiss which she reciprocated and then bumped shoulders with Cisco and Ralph.
"We all certainly kicked those buggers behinds didn't we mates? He grinned with satisfaction which his friends returned.
"Heck yeah we did and thankfully with our gorilla buddies here King Shark and his minions will no longer be a problem," Cisco agreed in response while Ralph nodded.
"Amen to that," the elastic hero added and then went over to embrace Sue, the two of them holding each other tightly.
Allegra on her part also went up to Elena after the latter had finished embracing her boyfriend and also to Ward and Tripp who were standing nearby.
"I just wanted to thank the three of you once more for saving me earlier. I know I said it earlier but I just want you all to know that I might've died if it hadn't been for you guys and that I truly appreciate that and for you guys having my back," she said to them with a warm smile while her eyes glistened with unshed tears.
"Of course amigo. I'm always going to have your back like I said earlier," Elena stated with a smile of her own while leaning her forehead against Allegra's.
"What she said. All of us here are a family and family always looks out for one another. Always and forever," Grant reaffirmed with his own smile.
"Couldn't have said it better myself," Tripp agreed after which the three of them came together in a group hug.
A little ways away from them Barry was holding his wife in his arms while she tucked her head against his chest and across from the couple was Simmons who was currently cupping his face and pressing a big kiss to her boyfriend's lips before wrapping her arms around him tightly.
"You were certainly as brave as you always are when you were fighting King Shark and his monsters tonight and I couldn't have asked for such a courageous friend and partner as yourself," she praised him.
"It wasn't just me. You and the others were just as brave and we were all doing what we needed to do to protect this city," Fitz replied while refusing to take all of the credit. She in turn smiled at him and falling further in love with him in regards to his current modesty.
After they'd all finished with their embraces and exchanges the Flash Team and the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents turned towards Grodd and his fellow apes who'd been standing nearby and observing their human friends.
"Thanks you. All of you. We probably wouldn't have been able to change the tide if it hadn't been for you and thank you Grodd for finishing off one of our worst enemies which in turn will hopefully keep our city even safer," Barry thanked them gratefully. "And I'm so sorry for your losses and know we'll always remember them and what they gave for this city tonight."
"Same here. At first I was feeling a bit worried there when you and your fellow apes arrived and thought we were about to have two sets of enemies. But I see you're all allies of Barry and his team here just like we are and it was an honor fighting beside you and please know that from now on you'll have friends and allies with S.H.I.E.L.D. as well. And you also have my deepest condolences for the tragic loss of your comrades," Coulson added with an affirming smile.
Grodd grunted in acknowledgment while giving them all as close to a smile as he could muster.
"You are all most welcome. And we will always be there whenever needed," the king of Gorilla City promised them all and then activating the devise Cico had given him which he'd used earlier to transport himself to their city, he and the remaining gorillas, having collected their dead with sorrow and placing them onto their backs, stepped back into the currently reactivated portal and returned home after which said portal closed behind them.
After a bit, Caitlin, who'd reverted back to herself while Frost retreated and let her retake the reigns, spoke up.
"And now that it's all over, why don't we all return to Barry's home and finish watching "Terminator 2"? she suggested to while Frost from within her seconded.
Her suggestion was met with a chorus of cheers of agreement from her friends and loved ones and together the heroes and agents with Joe and Patty all transported themselves back to Barry and Patty's place to do just that while feeling blessed to have each other in their lives and that they would always be family and comrades in arms for as long as they'd have each other, which for them all hopefully meant forever, while feeling the same way towards Grodd and his fellow apes. Man and beast united and together facing any threat regardless of which of them was being targeted.
The End
A/N And that's the end of this and what did you guys think? And was this version of Grodd and King Shark's fight both long and epic enough for you?
It's been fun writing these battles in which major characters are pitted against each other starting with Kara and Barry in my "Flash vs Supergirl: Battle Of The Titans" fic, the Kingdom Come Superman and the "Smallville" Superman in my "Man Of Steel vs Man of Steel Clash Of The Supermen" fic, and now my version of Grodd and King Shark's battle within this fic.
And so I'd like to let you know that for my next chosen battle involving major characters, though it probably won't be anytime soon, it will involve Skye/Daisy aka Quake from "Agents Of Shield" vs Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel from the MCU.
Have a great day.
