*Saturday, 8:45PM, Oscorp*
Mary-Jane, Gwen and Liz arrived at the front doors of Oscorp industries with bags of clothes and other girl things intact. Harry was of course waiting for them with a small bag of his own packed with a trip needed for one night. Harry would've made a funny comment about them bringing half their closets for a single night trip but he figured he was already on thin ice with them anyway (Or at least with Gwen. The ice probably broke ages ago with the other two) so he kept his mouth shut.
"So...you guys ready?" The rich boy asked.
"Yep" Mary-Jane said, not even looking at Harry as she said it. Liz treated him the very same. Gwen was indifferent to the whole thing who just nodded slightly at him.
"...Right. Ok" Harry said, rubbing the back of his head. Tough crowd….
The boy led them to a limousine that was going to lead them to JFK airport. A Chauffeur put their bags in the trunk and opened the door so they could all get inside.
Once they were all in, they all sat awkwardly. As a teenaged boy, Harry often dreamt of having lots of beautiful girls in his limo. However, this wasn't how he pictured it going. Though it definitely was the more realistic scenario.
As the Chauffeur entered the driver's area of the limo and started the car, something suddenly hit Mary-Jane.
"Wait! What about the guy? AC? Shouldn't we wait for him?" She asked, practically frantically.
"I'm here" A familiar voice said in the other corner of the limo.
Harry let out a girlish shriek as he moved back in his seat until he was practically crushing Gwen.
"Harry, get off me" Gwen said, shoving him off. AC just looked at the scene in amusement from the corner.
"How did you get in here?" Mary-Jane asked, more curious than than anything.
AC shrugged. "My group puts a big emphasis on stealth. Have been for thousands of years. That's how we've stayed in the dark for all this time"
"No kidding" Harry said, still recovering from his almost heart attack.
"So what's the plan for when we get there?" Liz asked.
"We'll need to go to my brotherhood's Florida bureau that's Headquartered in Miami. There, we'll have shelter for the night and the resources needed to get to Long Bay. They're not as supplied as we are here but it's enough to suit our purposes for this mission" AC explained.
"Is there a bureau for each state?" Gwen asked.
"Can't say. I'm only giving you what you need to know. The rest is purely confidential" AC said.
Gwen shrugged. Fair enough.
"So hey, you never told us. What's your real name?" Mary-Jane asked.
"If I wanted you to know, I would've told you" AC said, nonchalantly.
"Oh come on. We're working together, aren't we? We can't know something as simple as your name?" Mary-Jane asked, a little frustrated.
"Look, it's not my rules. If you guys didn't know about my brotherhood, that'd be one thing but since you guys know, I can't take any risks. Especially since one of you happens to be the daughter of a police captain" AC said, shifting his eyes towards Gwen.
Again, Gwen thought, fair point.
"Well…maybe you could at least give us some indication as to who you really are? We just want to know who we're working with above all" Mary-Jane said, trying desperately to learn more about this guy.
"I already told you that my nickname is the initials of my actual name. That's all I'm saying on the subject. Any more, you'll have to earn by gaining my trust" AC said.
"And how exactly do we do that?" Mary-Jane asked.
AC shrugged. "I dunno. Never gave out my name to a bunch of civilians before, at least not like this anyway. The point is I'll decide when to do it and if I even want to do it at all" AC said sternly, knowing that he was most serious on this matter.
Mary-Jane rolled her eyes. She guessed having his initials was good enough anyway but soon it wouldn't be. She was getting kind of annoyed by this guy's little code names.
"AC...so...Adam Connors?" Liz asked, ignoring the fact that he said he wouldn't say anything else regarding his name.
AC didn't say another word. He just rolled his eyes under his hood and just stared straight ahead blankly.
"...Anthony Chase?" Liz asked again after not getting a response. AC just gave a sigh and started playing games on his phone.
"Just leave it be, Liz...for now anyway" Mary-Jane said, whispering the last part.
Nothing else was said throughout the rest of the ride over to JFK airport which AC was thankful for because that gave him plenty of time to text one of his peers.
"You got any leads on what's going on in Miami?" AC asked someone in his contacts labeled 'Deacon'.
"They checked into the finest resort in Miami about 6 hours ago. Posh gits" 'Deacon' texted.
AC huffed out a little chuckle.
"What's so funny?" Mary-Jane asked, raising an eyebrow.
AC just shook his head as if to say it was nothing important and carried on with his conversation with 'Deacon'.
"Did Bill tell you I'm coming with the teenagers?" AC asked Deacon.
"He did. Were you smoking some good stuff when you decided that?" Deacon asked.
"I had no choice. The only way we can subdue the boy is to talk some sense into him. They may be able to do so" AC replied.
"What if it doesn't work?" Deacon asked. AC pondered on this for a second before replying the most honest answer he could give.
"I'll figure it out" AC replied.
After a few moments, AC let out a little smirk and decided to mess with Deacon a little bit.
"So how's you and Becs?" AC said, referring to another member of his brotherhood.
"I have no idea what you're talking about" Deacon replied relatively quickly.
"Well...you work together...often alone…" AC said, trying to imply something.
"So?" Deacon replied almost immediately.
"Must get pretty lonely, especially with the both of you not being married...must get pretty romantic too" AC said, going in for the kill.
"Goodbye AC" Was all that Deacon said on that. AC just let out a victory grin and put his phone up.
"Something funny on your phone?" Gwen asked, curiously.
"No….just coworker banter" AC said honestly. No follow up question was asked as they knew they wouldn't get an answer out of them. They were then approaching the airport at that moment.
*Resort Suite, Miami*
"Ah yeah, that's the spot" Was what Peter said when the masseuse gently rubbed at his back in the resort spa.
"I have to admit, I've never seen a boy your age so tensed up before. All these knots…" The masseuse said, trying her best to loosen him up.
"Ah, yeah, well...school's been pretty stressful...and I have a part time job as well" Peter said swiftly. If he recalled correctly, his fight with Rhino last week could have very well caused a lot of those knots she was talking about.
"Well I hope this helps. A young boy like you shouldn't be getting all tensed up like this. Have you ever considered meditating or yoga?" The masseuse asked.
"I'm a guy, ma'am" Peter said before letting out a slight yelp as she lightly smacked him on his butt.
"Oh, hush. Plenty of boys your age do that kind of stuff" The masseuse chided playfully.
"Well maybe you should introduce me to some because I haven't seen any" Peter retorted in the same playful manner.
"Ah, you men are all the same" The masseuse said, rolling her eyes.
At that moment, someone knocked on the door to the massage room.
"Come in!" The masseuse said.
The door opened and Emmanuel along with Chris came in.
Peter lifted his head up from the table and saw that it was the both of them.
"Hey, guys. What's up?" He asked.
"Peter, hate to interrupt but it's time for a meeting" Emmanuel said.
"Ah, ok. Just let me get dressed and I'll be right up" Peter said as he started to get up.
"Alright. We'll be in my mum's room. John will be there too. See you there!" Chris said.
"See ya" Peter said as they both left the room. Peter put on his t-shirt and started to put on his button up shirt.
"So...nice friends you got there, huh?" The masseuse said with a raised eyebrow.
"Oh yeah, they've been great. Really been getting me through a hard time" Peter said, smiling at the lady.
"I guess they must be" The masseuse said in a sort of odd manner. Not in a hostile or mean spirited manner but in an odd one nonetheless.
Peter would have normally questioned this sort of thing but he figured it wasn't anything too important so he just let this one go. After all, he was on a bit of a tight schedule.
The young boy quickly got dressed in his designer clothes and left the room, leaving the masseuse by hereself.
The masseuse quickly tapped on the earpiece she was wearing and started talking.
"Shaun, the kid's going to Rikkin's room for a meeting. The Sage will be there too. You know what to do, right?" The Masseuse asked in a two-way communication patch with her partner.
"Yes, I do and it's Deacon while we're on a mission, Becs. You never know what could happen" Shaun Hastings said through the other line.
"Oh please, we've been hacking through Abstergo's comlinks for years and disguising ourselves as their employees and business couriers for months now. They haven't suspected a thing" Rebecca Crane said through her line.
"Be that as it may, let's be a bit more discreet, yeah? Anyway, I just got word back from AC. They're getting on a jet plane shortly. We've got to meet them over at the bureau soon" Shaun said.
"Cool. Just leave the artifact and note in Peter's room and we'll call in quits for the night" Rebecca said.
"I know what to do. Jesus. Also, I'm getting sick of these menial jobs. A coffee server now a housekeeper? Might as well through all my years of university and IT training out the window" Shaun complained.
"Maybe it'll get you to actually stop living like a slob. We've been rooming together for years and I've never seen a pompous limey so filthy" Rebecca chastised.
"Oh you're one to talk. Have you ever seen the you leave in the bathroom?" Shaun chided.
"Shut it. Just get to it" Rebecca said and ended transmission and began to end her last day going undercover at this place.
*Sofia's room*
Peter walked into the room and everyone including John was sat at the table in the dining room area.
"Peter, have a seat" Sofia said with a smile, gesturing to an empty chair. Peter nodded and sat down at the chair.
"So how was your boy's day today?" Laetitia asked.
"Pretty good. We spent a little while at the pool, got some dinner at the resort steakhouse and then I went and got a massage at the Spa. Back's been aching a little bit these days" Peter said, stretching.
"Ah, well I'm glad you had a good day. Wish I had thought of a massage. I could use one myself" Laetitia said, snapping her fingers in disappointment.
"Also, Emmanuel tried to flirt with a girl and failed miserably" Chris said, snickering.
"Seriously?!" Emmanuel asked Chris. Peter just chuckled, recalling the memory.
"Really? Now this I'd like to hear all about" Laetitia said, smirking and leaning up against the table.
"Uh...well…" Emmanuel tried to say.
"He walked up to this pretty girl and wanted to see if she wanted some tanning oil rubbed on her back. At that moment, her boyfriend walked up to the both of them and pushed him into the pool" Peter said laughing.
While Laetitia didn't condone the act of throwing her son in a pool, she couldn't help but giggle at the fact.
"Mom!" Emmanuel scolded.
"Oh, I'm sorry, honey. It's her loss" Laetitia said, still slightly giggling.
Emmanuel just pouted and slid down in his chair.
John just rolled his eyes at the conversation going on. Of all the Templars he could have worked with this time around, it had to be ones with teenaged sons.
"So now that we've rested, we must begin the next steps of our plans" Sofia announced.
"If I may ask, what else is there to discuss about tomorrow? I thought we're supposed to go to the island, go to the Observatory and take the device?" Peter asked curiously.
"Unfortunately, it's no as simple as that though that sums up what we want to do" Sofia said.
"Indeed...there's a few...complications" Chris added in.
"What complications would those be?" Peter asked.
"There's a village in the deep depths of Jamaica. An isolated native society that has existed there for centuries. They're...territorial to say the least" John explained.
"Yes. It's not known but to a few native Jamaicans and they try their best to keep tourists away from that part of the country. However...a few unlucky people that happen to wander in...well...not very many make it out" Sofia said, awkwardly which caused Peter to shiver.
"They're known as guardians and for whatever reason, they feel it to be their duty to guard the Observatory even though the site of it would drive them mad" John explained.
"Indeed. That's mainly the reason why we brought you in. We need you to...subdue these natives for us" Sofia suggested.
"Subdue? You don't mean…" Peter asked, not even daring to finish the statement.
"No, not that. Peter. Goodness. We just need you to use your powers to hold them still so to speak. Just tie their hands and legs so they don't cause any trouble while you're investigating the Observatory" Sofia said.
"Ok...I guess that's fine" Peter said who wasn't exactly comfortable doing this but remembering it was for a good cause.
"Good. We'll release them after you're done on the island" Sofia stated.
"'You're'? Are you not coming?" Peter asked with a raised eyebrow.
"No, I'm afraid me and Laetitia have some things to discuss so we're staying behind while you boys go and investigate" Sofia explained.
"What do you have to discuss if you don't mind me asking?" Peter asked, curiously.
"Nothing too important but important enough that we have to stay back and talk about it" Sofia said.
"Well...alright then" Peter said, thinking that was probably the most explanation he was probably going to get.
"Ok...I understand" Peter nodded.
"Excellent. Now you boys should really be heading off to bed soon. You need to be up particularly early, around 6AM, so you can catch the boat to the Observatory. You'll be accompanied by a few Abstergo security officers just in case things get too rowdy" Sofia explained.
Peter and the other boys nodded.
"Alright. I think that concludes this little meeting. That's all we really needed to discuss" Sofia said, standing up with a smile.
"Oh this is super exciting. Centuries of waiting and we finally going to get inside the Observatory. I'm jealous you boys get to see it first" Laetitia said, just as excitedly as she said was.
"Alright, boys. Tomorrow's a big day. Time for bed! Off with you now!" Sofia said, practically shooing them out of the room.
"Don't let the bed bugs bite!" Sofia called as she closed the door after they left the room.
"Well this is kind of exciting. I kind of get to see what the buzz about this Observatory is all about" Peter said.
"It's amazing, Peter. Something that you'll probably never ever see something like again for the rest of you life" Chris explained.
John nodded. Compared to the rubbish that humans called technology today, the Observatory was something to behold.
"So I guess I'll see you guys in the morning then?" Peter asked as they approached his private room.
"Yes sir. 6AM sharp" Chris said which made Emmanuel groan.
"It can't be a bit later? It's a weekend day!" Emmanuel whined.
"No whining, Emmanuel. Work comes first. You can sleep on the boat. It has some beds on the lower deck" Chris said, chastising his friend.
Peter chuckled. "Alright. I'll see you tomorrow guys"
He fist bumped both Emmanuel and Chris and held his hand out for John to shake it. John looked at it for a second before slowly taking it and doing an awkward handshake.
"Ok...goodnight, John" Peter said just as awkward as the handshake was and he nodded, not giving him the same courtesy though given the circumstances, Peter kind of understood why.
Peter unlocked the door to his room and entered the door. After closing the door, he changed into a white t-shirt and pajama pants in the bathroom (Which was probably the fanciest bathroom he had ever been in his entire life).
Afterwards, Peter yawned. Perfect time to go to bed. However, as he was about to enter his bed, he noticed something peculiar. A small box and a note addressed to him.
He raised an eyebrow. This was not something he was expecting but then again, he'd never been in a hotel like this so what was he expecting, really?
Peter picked up the note and scanned it before reading it in full.
"Dear Peter Parker,
You don't know me but I'm a friend though you may not believe me to be so. For you see, I'm a member of the Assassin Brotherhood. Now before you toss this letter aside and go tell your Templar mates about this, let me state my case.
These people are using you. They're manipulating you into believing they're your new sort of family. Let me tell you the harsh reality of this which is that these people are not as kind as they present themselves to be. Believe me, I know. The moment you're no longer of use to them, they'll cast you aside as if you were nothing to them which I assure you, you are not.
I know you probably don't believe me so that's why I present this to you. It's an object you'll become acquainted with soon I wager. This will tell you all you need to know about what kind of person these people are. When the time comes, you'll know what to do with it.
Please think about what I said, Peter. We're not bad people despite the fact that we probably don't have the best marketing team (Or at least people that can come up with names that don't make us out to be bloodthirsty killers). Anyway, I'm rambling on at this point. I hope you have a good night and hope you make the right choice.
Sincerely yours,
Deacon"
Peter read through the note, a frown on his face the whole time. So the Assassins knew they were here. He probably should have began to tell the others but for some odd reason, he was sort of compelled not to. Like a sort of instant prevented him to. He couldn't very well explain it.
Eventually, he decided to keep this to himself for the moment. He put the note aside and began to open the box. Inside was a peculiar looking object. Peter picked it up and inspected it for a few minutes before putting it back in the box and putting it at his nightstand.
After turning off the lights, Peter got into his King Sized back and closed his eyes. It was a more eventful night than he thought it would be but he knew the real action was tomorrow. He closed his eyes and attempted to fall asleep though that was proving to be quite difficult with what just transpired. However, he finally managed to fall asleep as he whisked off into dreamland with the Observatory fresh in the back of his mind.
