"Cupid's bow and arrow? Really?" Kennedy asked, skeptical, while Coop holstered his bow and quiver.
"Don't underestimate the power of love." Coop said, smiling. "Cupid's arrows may not hurt demons but they should weaken them enough for you to finish them off."
"If you're skeptical about that, hope you'll settle for angel blades." Castiel said as he handed Kennedy one of them as she tried swinging around with it.
"Nice. But are you sure it'll—"
"It can hurt hellhounds, angels, demons, reapers, djinns, various supernatural beings. Just make sure they won't kill you." Castiel said and Kennedy nodded. She had learned a lot in the time she had left Buffy's Slayer squad and the Scooby Gang and knew to get serious.
"Don't worry. I'm on it." Kennedy said.
"Not gonna compare to Scythe but hope this works." Dean said as he picked a long spear.
"What's that?" Willow asked.
"Lance of Michael." Dean said as Willow raised her eyebrows. "Yes, the Archangel Michael."
"How did you get it?" Willow asked.
"Stole it from the King of Hell." Dean explained and Willow decided not to pry further, since she knew far too well about Dean's crazy stories before they looked outside to see literally fire rain from the skies.
The Upper Regions
Leo stared in horror as the skies turned red, rocky formations protruded from the ground and fire was burning the palace of the Elders, while still chained to the pillar as demons walked down the place as he glared at Rennek. "You should've stayed retired, Rennek."
"And miss all the fun? Ha!" Rennek laughed.
"When Neena is done, there'll be no more fun for you. She'll destroy us all." Leo pleaded.
"As long as I can take you with me, I don't care." Rennek smirked. "Besides, we both know you can't beat me, now that you're a powerless mortal."
"Then why don't you have some fun with me before it all ends?" Leo taunted as Rennek smirked. "Didn't Neena say that she doesn't care about mortals and her children at all? Might as well have some fun on her accord too."
Rennek knew that Leo was only taunting him as he laughed. "I know what you're trying to do but it won't work."
Suddenly, Leo jumped, kicking Rennek in the face, knocking him out as Rennek's crossbow flied in the air before Leo grabbed it with his legs.
"Yes!" He managed to pull out the arrow and used it to picklock the shackles. "Chalk one up for the powerless mortals. Next time you conquer the Upper Regions, don't use the restraints up here. You know better than anyone how useful Darklighter poisoned arrows can be against our magic." Leo heard noises as various human-like demons and more of the ugly Hellmouth variety appeared before Leo shot some of them down with the arrows from Rennek's crossbow. "And yet they also work against evil too."
Leo ran towards the golden main gate as he tried to push. "Come on! Open for me! Open!" He turned to face more demons and dodged as they threw fireballs and energy balls. "Should've thought this escape plan more through."
A moment later, he managed to open the door and slipped through the gap as one of the demons reached for him but Leo stabbed him in the face with one of the arrows as he burst into flames before Leo slammed the gate shut but the demons were breaking through. Leo rushed to the vault with weapons and noticed a flaming sword, when Leo suddenly felt some strange tickling on his back, feeling as if the sword belonged to him as he reached for it.
"We won't have much time. The gates can stay open for a short period." Paige said.
"We still don't have the numbers." Dean said as he heard the noises from inside the palace.
"We've beaten worse odds before." Buffy reminded.
"You are not going to take her on alone."
They turned to see…
"Mom?" Piper, Phoebe, Prue and Paige said at once.
"Grams?" Melinda demanded before they noticed more women with them.
"It's time for Neena to meet with her family. It's not the whole Warren bloodline but it will do." Grams said.
"We're not going to let you take Neena on alone." Patty said as she smiled at Piper, Prue, Paige and Phoebe.
"OK, when we open the gate—" Buffy was interrupted, when the gate suddenly opened and they saw storm ravage the Upper Regions.
"I think the time for speeches is over, B." Faith said.
Some demons charged but Buffy cut them down with her angel blade, while Piper did a gesture, causing for another to explode.
"Onward, Slayers, hunters, Warren witches and other inspirational charge-type things!" Paige yelled as they charged forward.
"Really, Paige?" Phoebe snapped.
"Like you always know the perfect thing to say?" Paige snapped back.
"I like her." Kennedy chuckled.
"Kill anyone in our way!" Dean ordered.
Melinda threw a group of demons back with her telekinesis, while one of the Warren witches threw a torrent of fire at another demon. Buffy and Faith worked in unison as they cut down some demons, while Angel and Spike were back to back, the same with Dean and Sam as the rest of the Slayers and Warren witches used their magic.
Dean blocked with the Lance of Michael as some demons attacked with their athames but Dean knocked them back before cutting them down and impaling them. Dean rolled away as another demon threw a fireball before Dean used the Lance as a pivot and rushed at the demon, kicking him in the chest and knocking him down before finishing him off.
Much to Buffy's and Willow's surprise, Kennedy pulled out guns and as she fired them, the demons exploded or burst into flames or fell down as she turned to them with a shrug. "Holy bullets. Long story. I gotta say these are…" She dodged an energy ball from another demon, while Willow deflected the next one and Tara threw the following one back, vanquishing the demons. "…next level!"
"You're enjoying this!" Buffy noted.
"Had a lot of time to think!" Kennedy said as Buffy cut another demon down with her angel blade.
Castiel exchanged blows with three more demons and dodged as their athames scratched his coat before Castiel stabbed one of them with his angel blade, while Melinda lifted them in the air and threw them back and Prue deflected the energy balls from another demon back at him, vanquishing him. Paige formed an orb shield to block the fireballs before a volley of arrows followed from the Darklighters' crossbows.
"Arrows!" Paige yelled, redirecting the shields at the demons, vanquishing them.
Coop fired from his Cupid bow, while the arrows were not lethal, they hurt the demons, giving everyone else an opening to take them out.
Sam dodged, when another demon threw a fireball at him before Vi cut him down with her angel blade and Sam widened his eyes as he looked at her, while Vi looked at him in confusion. "What?" She asked.
"You just remind me of an old friend." Sam said with a shrug, remembering his deceased friend Charlie.
The Slayers continued fending off the demons, but they could feel themselves grow weaker and weaker as they realized that Neena was undoing the activation spell. Even though they did not have their strength, speed or reflexes anymore, they retained their fighting skills but they were finding themselves overpowered quickly, aside from Buffy and Faith, who had not been activated by Willow's spell.
"Buffy! You have to hurry!" Kennedy ordered as she was knocked down and scratched on the abdomen by one of the demons before Patty froze him and Penny threw him back, both Halliwell matriarchs helping her on her feet.
"Are you alright?" Penny asked and Kennedy nodded.
"Thanks." Kennedy said.
Angel, Spike and Cordelia were back to back as Angel blocked the claws of one of the demons before slicing his head off with his sword, while Cordelia dodged and blocked the arrows of one of the Darklighters firing arrows at her with her sword.
"Oh. You." Cordelia sneered before grabbing an athame from the ground and throwing it at the Darklighter, who was vanquished instantly. "I can't believe Kyra slept with this guy." Angel looked at her incredulously as she shrugged. "Hey, don't look at me like that."
"Sorry. Can't help it." Angel said.
"If you lovebirds are done talking, a little help here!"
They turned to see Spike struggling with a giant muscular red-skinned demon with horns as Spike was holding onto its horns on his head as the demon was shaking around with his claws. Angel slid between the demons' legs and kicked it in its thighs, forcing it on its knees.
"Spike, drop!" Cordelia ordered as Spike let go and Cordelia cut the demon's head off.
Spike then looked at the scratch on his jacket as he glared at Cordelia. "You haven't bloody changed at all, have you?"
"My bad…" Cordelia said awkwardly.
Faith cut down another demon, when she dodged as Rennek fired an arrow at her and she dodged. He was about to finish her off, when suddenly, Leo flew in, kicking Rennek down, with a flaming sword in his hand and with wings on his back, much to the sisters' surprise.
"Another angel?" Faith asked.
"No, that's my husband." Piper quipped. "Though I had no idea he'd become an angel."
"Not exactly." Castiel shrugged.
"That won't help you!" Rennek snarled as he orbed telekinetically a piece of debris at Leo, sending him knocking away. He was about to attack Faith, Piper and Castiel too, when Buffy jumped in with her angel blade and Rennek blocked with his sword.
It became a fast-paced exchange of strikes, their movements just blurs and black and yellow sparks. Buffy pivoted back as Rennek grazed her neck and she attempted to cut him in half but Rennek orbed himself as the blade went through him before reforming himself and he knocked the blade away from her hand. They exchanged few blows and Buffy flipped back as Rennek scratched her jacket before Faith jumped in, kicking him in the face.
"Buffy!"
Buffy turned to see Dean throwing the Lance of Michael towards her as she caught it. Rennek was about to strike again as Buffy used the handle of the lance to block, while Faith grabbed it as they pushed Rennek back before Buffy twirled the lance in her hands.
"Ready?" Buffy asked and Faith nodded.
"Let's kick his ass." Faith smirked.
Rennek roared as Buffy and Faith dodged, while he attacked again. Buffy blocked with the lance before Faith punched Rennek in the face and kicked him in the chest, sending him stumbling back. Buffy attempted to impale him but Rennek dodged before she threw the lance to Faith, while Buffy flipped back to avoid Rennek's sword. Faith whacked Rennek in the face with the handle and grazed his cheek with the tip of the lance. Both women worked as one, while switching the weapon with each other and parrying, while landing punches and kicks, sending Rennek stumbling back before Buffy kicked Rennek's sword off his hand and hit him in the leg, causing for him to kneel.
"What… are you?" Rennek growled, seething.
"We're the Vampire Slayers, bitch." Buffy said.
Rennek snarled as he pushed them back before Leo jumped in with his sword but Rennek summoned his sword to him and the blades clashed.
"It ends here!" Leo said.
"I agree." Rennek said.
Leo dodged as Rennek swung his sword and they exchanged strikes with their weapons as blue and black sparks flashed. Rennek almost grazed Leo's neck as Leo dodged but Leo got behind Rennek and kicked him in the back as Rennek staggered. Rennek summoned his crossbow and fired a bolt but Leo blocked with the sword before he jumped and kicked Rennek in the chest. Rennek attempted to orb as the sword cut him but the blade still harmed him as Rennek screamed in pain upon materializing and next thing Rennek knew before he could recover, both the tip of the lance and the sword were in his chest as he grunted in pain and gagged.
"Say 'Hi' to the First for us." Faith said as she and Buffy smirked, while they pulled the lance away and Leo pulled the sword away and Rennek screamed before he exploded as black orbs burst out of him.
As the rest continued fighting Neena's army of demons, Piper, Paige and Phoebe rushed upstairs but as they made their way to the top of the hill, they were knocked down by a magical blast from Neena as the orbs of energy, one of them obviously the Key, circled around, alongside with the Scythe.
"You don't understand at all. I'm doing this all for you! I don't want to hurt you!" Neena yelled as she floated in the air.
"Who's forcing you?" Piper snapped.
"Neena, you don't have to do this. We know your love was taken away from you. We've been there and we may not have had love that spanned millennia, but this is not the answer." Phoebe pleaded.
"This is about so much more than my beloved. It's about setting things right. But if I have to take you out, my own kind, then that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make!" Neena snarled as a pulse of energy suddenly rocked the entire area as the pillars supporting the Upper Regions and walls of the palace cracked, knocking everyone off their feet.
"I feel her rage, anger, but also compassion. She really believes she's doing what is best for everyone." Phoebe said.
"Can we use it against her?" Paige asked.
"I don't know." Phoebe said.
"Then we go for Plan B." Piper said.
Neena sent a beam of magic at them as Paige attempted to create an orb shield but Neena broke through, making Paige stagger back. Piper attempted to freeze Neena but it obviously did not work due to her being fellow witch, so she instead made the ground beneath Neena's feet explode as Neena retreated. Neena lifted a piece of a shattered pillar in the air and sent it at them but Piper blew it up.
"Rocks!" Paige yelled as the remaining pieces of pillar orbed and Paige sent them towards Neena. Neena formed a shield to block but as soon as she lowered the shield, Phoebe levitated towards Neena, kicking her in the face and knocking her down.
"Now!" Phoebe ordered as the sisters formed a circle around Neena, while Phoebe force-fed Neena a potion, making her swallow before the sisters joined hands and started to chant an incantation.
"Earthly goddess twisted by loss
We bind your magic, we bind your strength,
we bind your power
Now and forever!"
Neena laughed as she got up to her feet. "You honestly believe you are strong enough to bind my powers? Mine? I'm the source of human magic! You are my blood! Not even the Power of Three can beat me!"
"Then how about the Power of All?"
Neena turned to see Prue, Melinda, Patty, Grams and spirits of other Halliwell and Warren witches, Willow and Tara surround Neena as they all chanted as one.
"Earthly goddess twisted by loss
We bind your magic, we bind your strength,
we bind your power
Now and forever!"
They chanted the spell over and over as Neena screamed. "No. No. Nooo!" She tried to push them back but to no avail. Her powers were gone. "How dare you bind my powers? Contain my magic? I'm the reason you have your powers!"
She screamed in rage as she fell on her knees, slamming her fists into the ground, with her eyes getting wet.
They looked up to see the Key and the Seed of Wonder and other orbs circle around and merge into one.
"What is that?" Piper asked.
"She merged the most powerful magic like the Key and the Seed to create an interdimensional bomb. If we hadn't stopped her…" Cordelia trailed off.
"Bye-bye, universe?" Buffy asked and Cordelia nodded and Willow winced.
"Technically, bye-bye, multiverse." Cordelia said. "She would've broken the barrier and veil separating all dimensions, letting it all bleed into one. All existence as we know, gone, just so that she could reunite with her love."
"How about we put it all where it belongs?" Tara asked.
"I think we can help."
They turned to see Elders appear and with a gesture, the orbs of energy vanished and the Seed of Wonder descended down to Earth, back to its core and the red skies of the Upper Regions turned normal as they were supposed to be, while the Potentials felt stronger, their diminishing Slayer powers returning to them.
Another orb descended to Buffy's feet as it turned into a shape of a young human girl, curled to fetal position, naked. Quickly acting, Buffy took off her jacket and put it on Dawn to cover her as Dawn moaned softly, slowly coming to before the tears formed in Buffy's, Willow's and Tara's eyes, all of them hugging her tightly as she hugged them back, while Dean, Sam, Angel and Spike joined in, glad to see Dawn back.
As I said before, group fight scenes and juggling between so many characters is tricky, but hope I did OK. In the comics, Phoebe's active powers were later restored, if you are wondering how did she levitate.
Probably doesn't make sense how Dean got the Lance of Michael but just go with it. I'm not going with any particular season of Supernatural here.
As for the Sam's reaction to Vi, a reference to Felicia Day playing Dean's and Sam's friend Charlie in 'Supernatural' before she was killed and I tried to portray Kennedy more likeable like she is in comics. As for the Slayers losing their powers, I got inspired by Chunk127's 'United We Stand' and Aragorn II Elessar's 'Heroes, Vampires and Slayers' and the comic books, since something similar happened there too.
Hope you liked Buffy, Faith and Leo ending Rennek.
The next chapter is going to be the epilogue of this story.
