Author's Note
I do not own Kim Possible.
Cat-Kim glared from her cushion as Shego snapped a photograph, smiling down at her.
"You look so cute in your ribbon, kitty." She knelt to snap another picture. "Hey, maybe I should order you a collar. You'd look like a regular sweet girl."
Cat-Kim hissed and swiped at her. Shego pulled her hand away. "Ah ah. Conditions, remember? This is a blackmail goldmine."
The cat rolled her eyes.
"You know, just in case." She set the camera aside. "There. All done. For now."
Cat-Kim pawed at the ribbon and mewed. Shego grinned. "I think you look sweet in it."
"Mew!"
Shego rolled her eyes and reached down to undo the green bows that had adorned Cat-Kim for the photoshoot, shoving them onto the nearest table. "Happy now?"
"Mew!"
"Whatever. Come on, I'll show you the guest room and office."
Cat-Kim trotted along at her heels as she walked. Through everything, this had to be one of the… weirder things she'd done. And she'd done a whole lot of crazy.
"Guest room," she said, opening the door to the second bedroom. Not that she'd ever expected guests, more just… because. Cat-Kim investigated the large room, peering up at the dresser before hopping onto the bed.
"You can have this one." Shego reached down to prop the door open with the doorstop. "I assume the no hands thing is going to be a problem?"
Cat-Kim nodded, jumping over to the windowsill to look out. She'd found her coordination through all this at least.
"Yeah. I'll leave the door open."
She meowed.
"I'll take that as thank you."
Here she was, talking to a cat. A cat that was her former nemesis. What had her life come to?
"The office is this way. Computer's in there."
Cat-Kim nodded and jumped from the windowsill, following her through to the office. Shego propped that door open too.
"It's connected to my private network, and shielded from spyware. Feel free to use. Although…"
Hands. The no hands thing. Presumably she'd have to turn back and forth throughout the day. That was going to put a strain on her.
Cat-Kim jumped into the computer chair and peered at the screen before making what Shego supposed was a happy sound.
"You're welcome."
Cat-Kim purred and rubbed her head against her leg. Shego froze. Cat-Kim stiffened, squeaked, and sprang back in the chair. Shego patted her on the head. "Kitty instincts, is that it?"
Cat-Kim nodded.
Shego sighed. "Are you hungry?"
She shifted back to human to eat, which Shego had not fully expected, and she had not been wrong. The girl ate a lot. Shego ate a lot, given her energy requirements, but Kim devoured easily three times that, barely pausing to chew.
Shego cleared her throat. "You always eat that much?"
Kim shook her head. "Just recently."
"That transformation of yours must burn up energy and have your system in overtime then."
Kim stared at her. "We never thought of that."
Shego stared back and choked out a laugh. "You've got three geniuses working on this and that never occurred to you?"
Kim shrugged, gulping down more spaghetti. "Guess we overlooked the obvious."
"Abilities like that usually have a higher metabolism requirement. Makes sense."
Kim frowned.
Shego shrugged. "Experience with superpowers and wackos."
Kim nodded. "Go figure."
"You look like you need sleep too. A cure won't do you any good if you stress yourself to death."
Kim shook her head. "It's the shifting. It takes it out of me."
"Ah. Gotcha."
Explained why she looked so ill. More than likely she was trying to change more than was healthy for her.
Shego raised an eyebrow. "Can you change into anything else?"
"You mean other than a cat?"
Shego nodded.
Kim shrugged. "Haven't tried. Don't want to."
"Fair enough."
Kim changed back once she finished eating and curled up to take a nap on the kitchen chair. Shego took a picture. Maybe she should put cushions down.
She slept an hour before wandering over to the garage door and meowing at it until Shego opened it. Kim changed back to fetch a small bag from her car, which she promptly took to the office. Shego stuck her head in to check up. She'd set up one of those ridiculous communicators of hers by the monitor, and it was currently displaying an image of one of her brothers.
"No luck replicating it yet," he was saying. "But we'll get there; we must just be a bit off. Wade's trying to see if he can work out what Drakken made the thing out of. If we knew the parts, we might have more luck."
"Thanks, Tim," Kim sighed, glancing at Shego and stepping from the communicator. "It's okay, they can't see you. It's programmed to fix on me."
"Great."
"Are you with someone?" Twin asked.
"Yes, I am, and no, I'm not telling."
"Are you safe?"
She glanced back at Shego. "For now."
"Oh man, Dr Director was so pissed when she realised you'd gone," Twin Two said from the background. "She's still got that Du guy parked down the street. Don't worry, we've got missiles pointed at him."
"Tweebs!"
Tiny supervillains.
"I think they think you might come back," Twin Two said distantly.
"No chance of that. Not till we've fixed this." Kim plugged a USB drive into the computer and clicked something before promptly turning back into a cat.
Shego had never seen a more dejected looking cat than Cat-Kim in that moment.
Shego heard her working in there long through the night, both on four feet and on two, occasionally speaking to one of her advisors.
And she thought she had it bad.
