Decided to do something with Angel/Nina for once, Angel/Cordelia is my OTP but I like Angel/Nina too, which I'll do here.
I think Nina was Angel's most normal relationship, and after all the stuff with Cordelia, Connor and Jasmine in Season 4, she was good for him, and he needed someone like her.
Vampire/Werewolf done right.
This takes place post 'After the Fall'.
Angel made his way to his destination. Things had been fixed by his plan, Los Angeles was back to normal, Gunn was human again, and his son was alive too, though the people remembered what had happened.
However, instead of blaming him, they hailed him as a hero for his actions in saving them, so that was a good thing. Sometimes it did feel good to be acknowledged, though he wasn't going to bask in the glory.
Though currently, there was one thing he really cared about. He had talked with Cordelia on the Higher Plane while his soul had been slipping between life and death, and she had assured him she would always be with him, and that he was still a Champion, but he had a lot of other stuff to do on Earth before his end, and it included being happy too.
And so on coming back, he was a human now, the Shanshu had been fulfilled by his actions, so he had lost his powers, but was still a skilled warrior.
Now he could marry, have more kids, grow old and die like a normal person.
He still loved Buffy, but he had moved on now, and it was clear to him that Spike loved her more than she did, and she loved Spike more too (as much as he hated to admit it), and their romance was more mature than the high school puppy love he and Buffy had.
He wanted to be with Cordelia, but she was gone now, and would always be with him, watching over him from the Higher Plane, but they couldn't be together now.
Though there was one more person who he wanted to try it out with.
He knocked on the door, and Nina Ash opened it, looking surprised to see him. "Angel?"
"Hey Nina", Angel greeted as she opened the door fully and stepped sideways, allowing him to step in.
"So, what do you want?" Nina asked, closing the door.
"I'm sorry", Angel said immediately, as Nina looked at him with folded arms. "For sending you away like that without saying much, you deserved better than that."
"Look, I was mad, but seeing what happened to the city, I get why you did that, you wanted me and my family safe from what went on", Nina assured Angel. "And you saved the city finally."
"Yeah, and they gave me a reward for it", Angel revealed, holding her hand with his own and putting it over his chest, as she felt his heart beat, now looking at him with wide eyes.
"You're….."
"Yeah, I'm human now", Angel said with a nod and smile. "My heart, it beats again."
"Congratulations, I'm happy for you, I really am", Nina assured Angel with a smile of her own, giving him a hug.
"Hey, and…..I came here because…" Angel trailed off as she looked at him with some amusement. "I want to give us another chance, circumstances were bad at the time, but now, I think-"
"No sending me away for protection?" Nina asked with a raised eyebrow.
"No", Angel assured her. "Full honesty from now on, nothing shady, I promise."
After a few seconds of thinking, Nina finally said. "Okay, we can give this one more shot."
"Thanks", Angel said, as the two held hands and smiled at each other.
And neither of them regretted this either, since within 2 years, their feelings for each other grew, turning into love, and after a time, they finally got engaged, and then married too, with Faith being Angel's best man, yes, a woman was his best man, because there was no one else he'd rather have as his best man.
Buffy and Spike attended too, clapping when Angel and Nina kissed each other as a married couple for the first time.
And from up in the Higher Plane, Cordelia looked down on the two and smiled, happy for them both.
