This chapter will focus on the battle between the Earth-96 Justice League and Thanos.
Also, this chapter will be in first person POV.
Oh, forgot to mention this in the previous chapter, but Earth-96 Doctor Strange will be played by Ewan McGregor.
Chapter 2- Earth-96 and Thanos
Unknown location
Sara groaned as sharp pain shot through her entire body. She had no idea where she was, but a rib was clearly broken.
As she lost consciousness again from the pain, her mind drifted into a dream.
Earth-96, Metropolis, Sara's POV
"We're all set."
I looked up to see Hal Jordan float down onto the rooftop I was standing on.
"You're late, Jordan. Were you sleeping in?" I smirked at him, making him roll his eyes.
"From what I've gathered, Thanos should be here any minute now." Hal said.
"I just hope Thor and Clark are ready for this." I said grimly.
"Tony and Bruce are working on a device to counter Thanos' powers, though I'm not sure it'll be ready." Hal said.
"Well they better hurry the hell up," I said. "Thanos is going to throw everything he has at us."
"He'll retreat when a missile explodes in his mouth." Hal said cockily.
"We'll see about that." I shook my head in amusement. God, Hal was so arrogant.
Hearing a long zipping sound, I turned around as Oliver Queen landed on the rooftop.
"Hey Ollie." I greeted him.
Oliver and I have been childhood friends; he didn't need a long greeting.
"Hey Sara," Oliver said. "Logan, Barry and Wally are ready as well."
"What about Doctor Strange and Namor?" Hal asked.
"Haven't shown up yet." Oliver shook his head.
"Well they better get their asses here soon." I muttered. We would need everyone for this epic clash.
"I think-" I was cut off by a loud boom in the sky, and I whipped around, seeing a portal open.
"Fuck. Chitauri and Outriders." I groaned.
Hal tried to fire a weak blast but it was shattered and he staggered back before firing a stronger blast, now killing an Outrider.
Oliver fired some arrows at them and they exploded, killing even more. I looked around as they came at her.
"Shit." I muttered. I twirled my bo staff and hit an Outrider in the face before ducking to avoid a claw strike.
I then kicked its legs in a spin motion, sending it down and stabbed it in the throat, killing it.
Oliver fired a grappling hook before grabbing me. Together, we swung to the ground and landed on a street.
Hal was using his Ring to make a green fist which punched any Chitauri or Outrider soldiers coming close to him.
Then several Outriders leapt and started grabbing and trying to pull him down as Hal grunted. "Let me go, you freaks!"
Oliver grabbed his hand and started swinging away on a grapple hook.
He then let go as Hal Jordan made a giant green robot around himself and it landed on the ground. The ground shook a little, making me stagger.
Hal fired multiple missiles that hit the Chitauri and Outriders and then exploded, taking them all down within a few seconds.
"The timing with these guys!" Hal rolled his eyes.
"There are more coming." Oliver noted grimly as all of us looked ahead to see a portal opening as more Outriders charged out of it.
"We need to alert the others!" I said, my eyes widening. We needed backup, desperately.
I looked around as some more Chitauri came at us. Spinning, I hit one with my staff, whipping its head.
"That doesn't seem to work." I muttered.
Hal hit it with a conjured hammer, making it stagger forward as I ducked to avoid a claw strike.
Taking out a shuriken, I sliced the Chitauri's throat, killing it as black blood spewed everywhere.
"Urgh!" I wrinkled my nose in disgust.
Nearby, Oliver flipped and punched an Outrider in the head, before using an explosive arrow to kill another.
"Yeah! Come and get some, you ugly freaks!" Hal roared, using a green enlarged fist to punch any that came near him.
"Where's Clark?" I asked amidst the combat. He was someone who needed to be here.
"I have no idea, but hopefully he arrives soon!" Oliver grunted.
As a Leviathan emerged from the portal and flew upwards, a blue and red blur slammed into it, making it crash to the ground. I almost tripped.
I looked up to see a tall man in a blue suit with a red cape, a 'S' on the center of his suit in an emblem hover in the air.
"Took you long enough Supes!" I called out, a grin on my face.
"I got here as soon as I could." Superman replied.
"We need to contain the damage," Oliver said. "Wally and Victor will be here soon. Where's Barry?"
Suddenly an orange blur caught my eye. It sped into some Outriders, taking them all down.
"Oh hey, it's Speedy Gonzalez." I grinned.
The orange blur stopped speeding, revealing a man in a red suit with blonde hair, a lightning bolt emblem on his chest.
"You know, for the fastest man alive, you are really slow." I quipped.
"Ha ha!" Barry Allen rolled his eyes. "I got a little caught up dealing with our old Chitauri buddies in Central City."
"Where are Tony, Bruce, Steve and Charles?" Oliver asked.
"They're on their way," Barry replied. "Told me to tell you that we need to hold them off for the next few minutes. Point Break should be on his way any second now."
"Okay, we need to keep 'em all occupied." I said. At the same time, about two dozen Chitauri and Outriders charged towards us.
In response, Superman flew into the air and fired Heat Vision, while the rest of us began fighting them.
Amidst the fight, I was thrown to the ground by an Outrider. I put my staff in the way to block as its tooth filled maw made its way closer to my face.
Suddenly, it was lifted in a green light by Hal and tossed to Superman who eviscerated it with one punch.
"Thanks." I called out to Hal, who nodded.
Superman was in battle with some Chitauri, punching several of them away before destroying a bunch of them with Heat Vision.
"There's too many of them to just barrel through," he said. "We need to regroup."
"Tell that to Jordan." Barry groaned, speeding through several Outriders.
I flip-kicked an Outrider in the face and turned to see Hal fire a missile from his Ring, destroying some Chitauri.
A Chitauri soldier punched me in the face, sending me to the ground as I tried to throw it off.
"Shit." I groaned.
As the Chitauri raised her fist to punch, Hal threw it off.
"Thanks bro." I called out and he gave me a thumbs up.
I struck an Outrider in the face with my staff, knocking it down.
Nearby, Hal took on more Outriders, crushing them with his contraptions or using his hammer to send others flying.
A batarang flew and exploded, killing some Chitauri. I turned my head to see a man in a dark suit and thick beard land on the ground.
Oh yeah, here we go, baby.
"Glad you could show up, Bats." I called out.
"This is not over yet." Batman warned.
Batman leapt back to avoid an Outrider's blows and punched it before flip kicking it away. He then dodged another's attack and getting behind it, pushed it away.
Just then, I backed off as an Outrider lunged at me. I twirled my staff and stabbed it in the throat, taking it down.
A yellow blur slammed into a Chitauri soldier, taking it down. Cyborg flew in the air, shooting another down.
A feral roar was heard and I whipped my head to see a man with a thick beard charge and impale an Outrider with steel claws that protruded from his hand.
"Come and get some, bub!" Logan sneered, stabbing another soldier in the mouth.
"Oh, so great to see you all!" Barry said happily. "All are here, except Namor, but to be honest, I found his powers lame."
"Ouch." I chuckled.
Some Chitauri were still flying around when the water nearby rose up, and Namor appeared.
Sharks leapt out of the water and devoured all the Chitauri before going back into the water. Namor landed next to us.
"I take it back." Barry said lamely.
"Greetings, friends." Namor said with a grin as he and Batman grasped hands, and then he and Superman did the same.
"Now we just need Thor." I said.
"We're too late. He's here." Superman said with a sigh.
"Thanos?" I asked with wide eyes and got a nod. Oh shit, this was not good.
"Oh boy." Barry muttered.
I turned to face the portal and a huge purple being in golden armor and a helmet stepped out of it.
Thanos looked at us and smirked, his very presence sending chills down my spine, though I steeled myself in time.
Thanos hovered in the air with various Chitauri next to him.
"Yeah, that's Thanos." I said, gulping slightly. How would we beat this guy?
"Hmm, he doesn't look that tough." Hal muttered.
Wow, Hal sounds like a moron.
"Don't underestimate him." Superman warned.
Hal stepped forward and flew towards Thanos at full speed. He formed a giant fist and punched him hard.
As we all watched, Thanos was unaffected and punched back, sending Hal crashing into a building and falling down.
"I honestly expected better, Green Lantern." Thanos taunted.
"Oh boy!" Oliver muttered, firing at some Outriders. I backed off to avoid a strike from one and gave it an uppercut with her staff, knocking it down.
Thanos slowly marched towards us, a menacing smirk on his face.
Suddenly, a massive object was thrown at Thanos, sending out an explosion of lightning.
Thanos was sent flying off and crashing to the ground while dark clouds gathered and lightning struck some Outriders, killing them.
Mjolnir flew back into the outstretched hand of Thor Odinson, who was glowing with lightning.
"Hell yeah!" I cheered as everyone else grinned. Thanos got back up.
"Impressive, Odinson. But you cannot win. I will please Death herself by feeding her your souls."
"Come and try." Thor declared, reaching to his belt and twirling the ax Jarnbjorn.
Hal staggered up and flew at Thanos with a hammer. He hit him with the hammer, but it just shattered. Thanos grabbed his hand, making him scream in pain, and threw him to the
Thanos smirked. "Death shall come to all."
A noise was heard and I looked around to see some fighter planes firing missiles at Thanos.
They exploded on hitting him, but he as pretty much unaffected. Thanos raised his hands and beams of energy emerged from them.
The energy beams sailed through the air and struck the planes, destroying them all.
"No!" I said in horror. This was not good at all.
"I hope they remember you." Thanos declared, looking straight at me, which was absolutely chilling.
"Suck on this!" Hal declared as he formed a train and rammed Thanos with it, slightly staggering him.
As Hal flew closer, Thanos head-butted him hard, sending him crashing to the ground.
Namor rushed at Thanos. "FOR ATLANTIS!"
He fired a huge blast of water and struck with his trident too. Thanos was unaffected and said. "Atlantis is dead."
He punched Namor hard.
This was not going well. Thanos seemed to be much tougher than before.
I looked up as Thor charged and hit Thanos with Mjolnir and Jarnbjorn. Thanos punched Thor twice but he avoided the first strike and grunted on the second punch.
"Come on, Thor, you got this." I muttered. I hoped he did.
Thanos grabbed Thor's hand and threw him across the ground, destroying part of it.
"Now what?" I muttered as Thanos hovered down onto the ground.
"Now you die." He snarled as he raised his glowing hands.
"Wait, no!" I shouted when Superman and Cyborg flew in front of him. Just as Thanos brought his fists down, they raised their arms in a defensive motion.
There was a huge shockwave which destroyed most of the area and knocked out everyone other than me, Superman and Cyborg.
"Jesus." I muttered, only to feel a sharp pain down below. I looked down to see a piece of shrapnel had hit me, and I was bleeding now, my white suit turning red.
"Crap." I groaned as pain shot through her body.
A portal opened next to me and Doctor Stephen Strange emerged from it, a serious look on his face. How strange.
"Doc." I said, slowly getting up. I just hoped he could defeat Thanos. He was a powerful sorcerer after all.
"We must stop him!" Stephen declared as he fired beams of energy at Thanos. He countered with his own powers and Stephen was hit, being sent flying to the ground.
"Okay, can anyone here stop him?" I asked in exasperation. Barry and Wally sped at Thanos together but he stomped the ground hard, and they fell to the ground.
Superman flew down and fired Heat Vision with a roar, as Thanos conjured a force field to block.
Thanos turned the force field into an energy blast which sent Superman back slightly.
"I am inevitable." Thanos declared, hovering in the air.
"Can anything take this guy out?" Barry asked, exasperated.
"I don't know." I shook my head. I really didn't.
"BOW DOWN TO YOUR NEW MASTER! COWER IN FEAR! FOR YOU ARE POWERLESS TO STOP ME!" Thanos roared.
Stephen stepped up next to me, a grim look on his face. Namor tried to strike, but Thanos punched him twice and hurled him at Hal, sending them both crashing to the ground.
I looked around at my allies; Wally and Oliver were knocked out and injured from the blast, Hal and Namor were incapacitated.
It was just me, Logan, Stephen, Superman, Barry and Thor.
Thanos then leapt at Superman and grabbed his head, pinning him to the ground. Superman roared in anger and fired at Thanos with his Heat Vision, staggering him back before kicking him away.
Thor hurled Mjolnir at Thanos and it staggered him slightly. Thanos punched Thor twice in the face, making blood fly.
"You will not win, Asgardian." Thanos declared.
"What do we do?" I muttered.
"There is nothing we can do." Barry replied regretfully.
A portal opened and Superman and Thor landed, covered in blood.
Stephen looked down in thought before his eyes lit up and he spoke one word.
"Fusion."
"Fusion?" I asked, looking at him. "Fusion as in merging?"
"Yes," Stephen said. "Two people can be fused into one."
"And what is that going to accomplish?" Barry asked.
"We push two people's Astral forms out of their body, and those Astral forms merge and form a new body while their actual bodies fall comatose." Stephen explained.
"What happens then?" Superman asked.
Stephen pointed at him and Thor and chanted as their wounds healed.
"Douche. Answer the question." I rolled my eyes.
"The fusion combines their power and doubles it," Stephen revealed. "And it lasts for one hour."
"You mean if two people here fuse, they can have enough power to defeat Thanos?" Batman asked.
"Yes." Stephen said.
"And who shall fuse?" Thor asked.
"By what I have seen, you, Prince Thor, and you, Kal-El of Krypton, must fuse into one being," Stephen said. "You, Thor, are the strongest and most powerful Asgardian, and with the Odinforce as part of you, you can increase your power. And you, Kal-El of Krypton, are the strongest Kryptonian in this Universe. If you two fuse, your strength and speed will be doubled, magic won't harm you Kal-El, and you can also use all of Thor's martial arts."
Really, would this actually work? I really didn't know.
"I will do it." Superman said immediately.
"Me too." Thor said.
"But can anything go wrong?" I asked.
"We won't know till we try." Stephen said.
"Thanks dude, for nothing." I snapped.
"And nothing can be worse than this." Batman said as I looked at Thanos blowing the Justice League back, only for Namor to grab him from behind.
"Let's do it." Thor said as he and Superman exchanged a look and nodded.
"One thing, if your fusion dies, then your true bodies die too." Stephen said.
"And you waited until now to tell us?" I asked incredulously. "Don't you think that's important information?"
For a doctor, this guy sounds stupid.
"Right now, it doesn't matter. Let's just do it." Superman said, and nodded at Thor.
"We have no other choice." Thor added.
Thanos slammed Namor to the ground and knocked him out with a punch. Looking up, he glared at us and began flying towards us.
"Hurry the hell up!" I snapped. If we didn't do this now, Thanos would kill us.
"Please face each other." Stephen said. They did.
He punched out Thor's and Superman's Astral forms from their bodies respectively as the bodies went limp and fell down.
"What is this idiot do?" I thought.
Then the Astral forms of Thor and Superman assimilated into each other and there was a bright glow.
The glow receded, revealing a bright figure standing where it was, light emanating from him. And then the light faded, revealing the very solid individual.
"What the-?" I muttered, looking at the new figure in shock.
He was tall; the same height as Thor, and his hair was black, with streaks of blonde. His face was like Thor's, but there were features of Superman too. He had one blue eye and one dark brown, those being of Thor and Superman respectively.
He had a red cape like both Thor and Superman.
His suit was bluish in color like Superman's suit, and instead of the disks on Thor's suit, there were 'S' shields in their place, with greyish armor in the background.
His pants were armored and bluish as well.
A giant aura of Odinforce was rising from him, right up to the top.
He held up Jarnbjorn in one hand and pressed his other one into a fist.
"Holy shit! I can't believe that actually worked!" I said in awe, my jaw dropped. This was the greatest thing I had ever seen.
Barry, Batman, Cyborg and Stephen also looked awed at that.
The fusion glared at Thanos and when he spoke, both Thor's and Superman's voices came from him.
"I am not Thor Odinson or Kal-El! I am Thor-El! IT'S OVER MAD TITAN! I'VE COME FOR YOU!"
I looked ahead to see Thanos a block away.
Thor-El just looked at them and calmly added to his declaration.
"Every force you create has an echo. Your own lust for power will be your undoing."
I watched as Thor-El sped towards Thanos and punched him hard, sending him crashing through some buildings.
"Does he need help?" Barry asked.
"I think the guy can handle it," I shrugged. "He looks like he's handling it fine so far."
As Thanos tried to punch, Thor-El ducked to avoid and punched him hard, sending him flying back into the rubble.
"He's not holding back." I noted as Stephen, Batman, Cyborg, Barry and I watched Thor-El and Thanos battle.
"No he is not." Stephen agreed.
Before Thanos could get up, Thor-El flew to him and punched him down once more before grabbing a building falling at him and threw it away.
Taking the opportunity, Thanos kicked him away.
"This brings a smile to my face." He declared.
"You will fall on your folly!" Thor-El snarled.
"I see he's dramatic too." I smirked, only for Stephen to roll his eyes.
He flew into the air and roared loudly as an aura of Odinforce surrounded him and the ground broke.
"Wow!" I said, my jaw dropping.
The two flew around in circles as Thanos tried to strike but Thor-El grabbed him and with a flip, kicked him away.
He then flew at full speed and punched Thanos twice, sending him flying back again before he flew off.
"Damn." Barry said.
Thor-El rammed into Thanos again and they crashed to the ground, forming a huge crater.
"Come on guys, you've got this." I muttered nervously. My heart was beating wildly.
Thor-El flew up to Thanos and with a roar, fired golden colored Heat Vision, as Thanos blocked with a force field.
Eventually, Thor-El's Heat Vision broke through the barrier and sent Thanos back slightly.
"Thor-El…is stronger than Thanos!" I said, my eyes widening in shock.
"Exactly." Stephen smirked.
Thanos fired energy blasts that Thor-El flew to avoid. Getting behind Thanos, he grabbed him in a chokehold from behind.
Thor-El gritted his teeth as the two fought. Thanos slammed Thor-El to the ground, shattering it.
"Should we…you know…do something?" I asked as all of us watched the battle.
"I'm not sure we can do anything." Batman shook his head regretfully.
"Damn it!" I groaned. I didn't want either of them to die, so I just hoped Thor-El could do it.
As we continued watching the battle, Thor-El roared in anger and punched Thanos hard, making him fly back a few feet.
"Bring your best." Thanos smirked.
Thor-El surrounded himself with an aura of Odinforce, but to his horror, the energy blast completely shattered the aura, sending Thor-El back.
Thor-El fired powerful lightning from Mjolnir as Thanos absorbed it and fired it back at Thor-El. He raised Mjolnir in time to block and was sent flying back.
"Oh shit." I gulped.
He then flew high into the air, but Thanos flew even higher, and faster than him, and he fired more energy bolts, these ones much less powerful in intensity, but much faster.
Thor-El flew off, avoiding the bolts as he weaved around in the air to dodge them, before stopping and deflecting some more with Mjolnir.
"Not many have bested me in battle." Thanos smirked.
"They are both even." Batman noted as we watched the battle.
"Yes. Even Thor-El is struggling against him." Barry agreed.
"Well, let's hope he can do it." I nodded.
Thor-El recovered and threw Jarnbjorn at Thanos. He swatted the enchanted ax out the air, and rushed at Thor-El.
Just then, Jarnbjorn flew behind Thanos and unleashed a huge lightning blast, staggering him slightly.
But even that didn't stop Thanos, and he continued rushing at Thor-El, with no intention of stopping.
Thanos leaned back to avoid a swing of Jarnbjorn and punched Thor-El, sending him flying off.
He then flew up and rammed down onto him, but Thor-El rolled away at the last moment to avoid, though Thanos landing still formed a huge crater.
Thor-El then fired lightning at him, making him fly back by a few feet as he roared in anger.
As Thanos got back up, Thor-El put Jarnbjorn and Mjolnir onto his belt.
"Come on guys, you've got this." I muttered. My fingers dug into my palms, drawing some blood, though I didn't feel the pain.
Thor-El then rushed at Thanos at full speed, giving him a hard punch, making him stagger back before elbowing him in the throat, while Thor-El kicked him away in a rotatory motion.
"I need to help." Stephen said. He floated in the air and began chanting as Eldritch magic flowed from his hands.
"I hope it works." I muttered. We need to win this.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Thor-El roared as lightning flashed in the sky and the Earth itself shook from his power.
"Goddamn! Is there anything he can't do?" I asked, mostly to myself. It was like watching a handsome God having a brawl with an alien.
Thanos watched, a smirk on his face.
"Is that all?" He mocked. "And here I was expecting a challenge."
"Today, you lose!" Thor-El declared, flying at an amazing speed and ramming into Thanos hard, sending him crashing to the ground.
Thanos got up as Thor-El appeared in front of him and gave him a hard punch, staggering him further.
Thanos and Thor-El interlocked their fingers, trying to overpower the other. Thor-El eventually won and head-butted Thanos.
As he staggered, Thor-El fired golden Heat Vision, sending him flying back further.
Thor-El gave Thanos an uppercut and then elbowed him in a spin motion, further staggering him.
"Yeah!" I cheered, a huge grin on my face. This was going much better than expected.
Thanos punched Thor-El in the abdomen, making him gasp as he was sent back slightly.
Thanos was about to move, when glowing symbols appeared on the ground and he found himself restrained.
"Doctor Strange. This cannot hold me forever." He sneered at the person responsible.
"It will hold you for a long time." Stephen countered. "NOW THOR-EL!"
Thor-El rammed into Thanos hard, and then fired powerful lightning, making him roar in anger.
"You fools! That portal will destroy the entire planet!" he gloated. "Even if you kill me, your world will be gone forever."
I gasped in shock. Fuck, this was not good.
The portal began sparking and growing larger. Thor-El and Stephen exchanged looks of concern.
"You will never bother the Universe again." Thor-El declared in anger. He swung Jarnbjorn and decapitated Thanos, letting his body fall to the ground.
"We must stop the portal!" Stephen said urgently, flying towards it. Batman, Barry, Namor, Cyborg and Hal flew up as well. I ran and stopped near them.
"What do we do?" I asked in concern.
"Cyborg and I will work to destabilize it," Batman said. "Doctor Strange, you can help as well."
Stephen began chanting as Cyborg and Batman analyzed the portal. I was the closest to the portal, the others further.
"I know what to do." Cyborg said. He fired his cannon and a stream of red energy hit the portal.
For a moment, nothing happened. Then the portal began collapsing in on itself as it shrunk.
"Almost there." Cyborg grunted.
"Come on." I muttered.
Then the portal began expanding outwards, to everyone's horror.
I tried to react in time, but instead I found myself being swept off my feet by its gravitational pull.
"Shit!" I screamed.
"SARA!" Hal yelled in horror as he almost grabbed me but missed, but I was gone. The last thing I saw were my friends' horrified faces.
The portal closed and I fell through endless darkness. Eventually, that darkness gave way to thousands of Earths.
"What…what is going on?" I groaned. I had no idea what was even happening.
"Ah, Sara Lance. You are about to go to Runeterra. That is the great Unknown. Where feet may fail." A voice said somewhere, but I couldn't see who was speaking.
"May it be when darkness falls, you're heart will be true." It continued. "And may Bard take the wheel. You must fight to save Runeterra, for as long as life endures."
I found myself facing an Earth and a bright light appeared. That was the last thing I saw.
And that is the end of the chapter. Hope all the fight scenes were enjoyed.
Now before we move on, what I am about to say is very important. As we go through this story, I am going to be ranking each champion based on their lore.
I am doing this because a lot of readers are unfamiliar with League of Legends, and don't where to start. Well thankfully, this story will definitely introduce you to the world of Runeterra.
So the rankings will be the following from bottom to top- Outdated, Below Average, Average, Good, Great, World Building and Essential read.
Now this is just a matter of opinion here, you don't have to agree with me on everything.
Now that is sorted, onto the chapter-
This was inspired by Dragon Ball Z, so we had Thor and Superman fuse into Thor-El, the ultimate fusion warrior.
Those who have read 'Whatever It Takes' will remember that I had mentioned that Thor-El was the one who defeated Thanos. Though this is actually a dream.
I didn't want it to be too easy, so I had Thanos put up a hell of a good fight against Thor-El. But eventually, they won.
But now Sara has ended up on Runeterra. All I will say is that this is where the fun begins.
Next chapter will begin the very long Runeterra arc, where every single League of Legends champion will be involved in.
