Chapter 5- Crownguard
Runeterra, The Great City of Demacia
"Seriously?" Sara groaned as armed guards moved into the room and aimed their spears.
"Take this spy to the dungeons." King Jarvan ordered in a deathly calm voice.
"My King, don't do this." Xin Zhao spoke up, making all look at him in shock.
"Excuse me? How dare you defy me?" King Jarvan asked with narrowed eyes. Sara looked at him in shock. They had only just met and he was already defending her.
"There is no way for her to be a spy," Xin Zhao said calmly. "When we were battling the Noxians, they referred to her as Demacian. Even the Noxians wouldn't do this to one of their own. I know from personal experience."
"That is not a convincing argument," King Jarvan said. "They could be using her to infiltrate our ranks. Regardless, I will extract that information."
"Father, let the Mageseekers decide if she is telling the truth," Jarvan spoke up, earning shocked looks, especially from Sara. "They can briefly scan thoughts. If the Noxians truly sent her, then we will know."
King Jarvan looked conflicted for a moment, before stiffly nodding. "Very well."
The dark-skinned man in the corner moved forward, his staff held out in front of him.
"Do not move." He warned Sara and she nodded. The Mageseeker touched Sara's forehead with the staff and it glowed. Then the glow faded almost instantly.
The Mageseeker saw multiple things.
Sara was talking to another blonde woman around the same age, and they smiled at each other.
A man in a green suit fired an arrow at something.
A man let out a primal roar as metal claws popped out of his knuckles. With a roar, he leapt at some foes.
Sara twirled her staff as she fought some disgusting 4 armed beasts. Nearby, a man with a glowing green ring formed a fist and punched a flying beast away.
Thanos marched towards the Justice League, a smirk on his face.
Thor and Superman fused into Thor-El.
Thor-El battled Thanos, continuously punching and kicking him to great distances. Thor-El let out a loud roar as the ground shattered and rocks flew into the air.
Sara was sucked into some kind of portal and floated through the Multiverse, eventually landing on Runeterra.
The Mageseeker stumbled and fell to the ground with a great cry, to everyone's shock and confusion.
"Well?" Tianna asked impatiently.
"She is telling the truth. She is not from this world and has nothing to do with the Noxians." The Mageseeker replied.
Tianna looked stunned, as did everyone else. For the first time, someone they thought was a Noxian was not one.
If the Mageseeker and Jarvan IV were not there, things would have taken a drastic turn for the worse.
The realization that they had almost imprisoned an innocent woman struck them.
"Ms. Lance, I believe we all owe you an apology." King Jarvan said quietly.
"It's okay," Sara said, surprising everyone again. "I don't blame you for thinking that."
"Now what, Father?" Jarvan asked his father after a brief moment of silence.
"Son…I don't know." King Jarvan admitted.
"I have a suggestion." Xin Zhao spoke up, making all look at him.
"Speak freely." King Jarvan nodded at him.
"She can stay with me until we can help her find a way home." He said, making Sara stare at him in shock.
'Goddamn, I like this guy.' She thought to herself.
"She can stay with me for as long as she wants. If that's okay with you, Ms. Lance?" Xin Zhao asked, looking at her.
"Of course. Thanks so much." Sara said, smiling.
King Jarvan sighed and nodded. "Very well then. Ms. Lance, you are free to stay with Xin Zhao. And I am truly sorry for what happened."
"It's no problem, Your Highness. Thanks a lot." Sara waved him off.
"Council is dismissed. And I wish you good luck in finding a way back to your home." King Jarvan nodded.
Xin Zhao bowed and turned to face Sara. "Follow me please."
He walked over to Sara as the two exited the room together and walked down a hallway out the
"Thanks, sir." Sara said to him.
"It was not a problem, Ms. Lance." He said politely.
"Please, just call me Sara." She said softly.
"Then you can call me Xin, if you want." He said.
"All right then…Xin." Sara smiled.
Xin Zhao led the two of them through some courtyards as Sara looked around. The entire city was surrounded by white walls, with some statues here and there.
Xin Zhao walked towards a large mansion and opened the wooden door.
"Welcome to my humble home." He said as Sara walked in after him. It was fairly modest, with candles on some tables.
"I have two rooms here." Xin Zhao said as he led her to a bedroom. It was small, with one bed facing the window. There was a bookshelf next to it, with books on it.
"Thanks a lot once more." Sara said.
"It was no problem, Sara. If there is anything you need, please, don't hesitate to ask." Xin Zhao said.
"All right." Sara said. Xin Zhao nodded and walked away.
Sara sat on the hard wooden bed, and sighed. She was in a whole new world.
"Fuck, now what do I do?" she muttered. She honestly had no idea if she could find a way home. At least she didn't have to worry about Kings trying to throw her in a dungeon.
Sara rubbed her eyes. This was the craziest thing that had happened to her ever.
"Oh god, I hope the others are okay." Sara said to herself, worried for her friends. Were they sucked in too?
Sara got up and walked out the room. There were some paintings on the walls, all depicting great battles.
The door was open and Sara walked out of it slowly, looking around. As she stepped forward, someone bumped into her and she staggered.
"I am so sorry." Sara said, looking at the person who bumped into her. It was a young, handsome man with dark hair, who looked slightly younger than Jarvan, but only by a few months. He was wearing some silver armor, surrounded by a cloak.
"No, no, it's my fault." The man said politely as he got up and dusted his cloak off.
"Garen, I told you to watch where you're going!" a young, bubbly voice said. Sara turned to see a young blonde woman, much younger than Garen, about 13 year's old or so approach them.
Sara looked at the girl, noting her slight resemblance to Tianna.
"I know, Luxanna." The man called Garen said.
He then turned to Sara and said. "Sorry, where are my manners, I'm Garen Crownguard. This is my younger sister, Luxanna."
"Just call me Lux, please." The girl said.
"Crownguard? Is Tianna your mother?" Sara asked, surprised.
Garen also looked surprised. "No, she's our aunt."
"You're that woman that was brought in with the Dauntless Vanguard." Lux said in realization.
"Wow, news spreads really fast around here," Sara commented. "I'm Sara Lance."
Garen held out his hand and Sara shook it.
"I have not seen you around here before." He commented.
"Well, I'm not exactly from around here." She chuckled.
"Yeah, you look like you came from Piltover." Lux said. Sara furrowed her eyebrows. What the heck was Piltover?
"What's Piltover?" she muttered, but both heard her.
"You've never heard of Piltover?" Lux asked, while Garen looked at Sara strangely. Who didn't know what Piltover was?
"Like I said, I'm not exactly from around here. I come from a land far, far away," Sara said. She got a distant look. "Too far away."
Garen and Lux traded confused looks. There was obviously unusual about Sara, but neither of them knew what it was.
Thankfully, Sara was saved by the appearance of Xin Zhao.
"Sara, what are you doing out here?" he asked as he walked up to the 3 of them.
"I just needed some fresh air." Sara shrugged.
"Ah, Mr. Zhao, very good to see you again." Garen greeted, holding out his hand and Xin Zhao shook it.
"I see you've met the Crownguard siblings." He said to Sara.
"I have." Sara smiled.
"Are you okay?" Xin Zhao asked her.
"A bit tired, but yeah, I'm fine." Sara said.
"I was going to prepare us some tea. Want to join?" Xin Zhao asked Garen and Lux.
"Well…why not?" Lux shrugged. "We don't have anything pressing right now."
"I'll come too." Garen agreed.
"Wonderful then." Xin Zhao nodded and he began walking towards the house, the others following.
Sara looked around. This was damn new.
"I am in a whole new world," Sara realized. "A new fantastic point of view. No one to tell me no, or where to go."
She walked in as Xin Zhao began boiling a pot of water on an open fire.
"Boy, I wish we had electricity right now." She muttered. This was a total high fantasy world, so electricity probably did not exist.
"What is it like in Ionia?" Lux asked Xin Zhao. Garen slapped her shoulder, shooting her a warning look.
Sara looked on in confusion. Clearly this was some sensitive subject.
"It is beautiful. I have seen the morning burning golden upon the mountain in the sky." Xin Zhao said cryptically.
'What is he talking about?' Sara thought to herself. She didn't want to pry, but this made her curious.
Garen and Lux nodded as the pot began boiling. Sara looked at them both, seeing Garen looked tired. What was that about?
"We are ready. Please sit." Xin Zhao said and they all did.
"So, don't mind me asking, but what are you doing here in Demacia?" Garen asked Sara.
"I'm…just staying for a while before I go back to my land." She lied. Well, it was technically true; she just left out the part that she was from another world.
If the way the court reacted was any indication, she doubted Garen and Lux would take too kindly to it. So far, Xin Zhao and Jarvan IV were the only ones who had reacted positively.
Xin Zhao looked at her, and an understanding passed between them.
"Fair enough. It's rare for outsiders to enter Demacia." Garen said thoughtfully.
"Makes sense." Sara shrugged. Now that she thought about it, it made sense.
"Weren't we supposed to meet Prince Jarvan?" Lux asked her brother.
"In about an hour, yes." Garen nodded.
"You guys are friends?" Sara asked.
Garen smiled. "Indeed we are. He is both brave and honorable. Together, we shall fight for king and country."
"He sounds like he could become the Captain America of this world at some point in the future." Sara muttered to herself.
"Who is Captain America?" Lux asked, having heard her.
"It's a long story. He's an old friend of mine." Sara said softly.
"Mmmm." Garen said, eyeing her. Like Lux said, there was something about Sara that he couldn't quite tell. She did have a strange accent, one he had never heard before.
"At least she's hopefully not one of those Noxians." Lux muttered.
"Oh god, I despise them. Bloody fools, they don't know when to give up." Garen grumbled as well. Sara looked at him, wondering why everyone seemed to hate everyone. It was curious.
"Sara, it is getting late. I can help you tomorrow with your…problem." Xin Zhao said, giving her a look.
"Problem? What problem?" Lux asked innocently.
"It's just a small thing, don't worry, Ms. Crownguard." Sara waved her off.
"Just call me Lux, please." The younger girl replied in a cheery voice.
"All right…Lux." Sara said, rolling the name over her tongue.
"Thanks a lot for the tea, Xin Zhao," Garen said. "Unfortunately, my sister and I have to get going. Looking forward to seeing you later."
"No problem, Garen." Xin Zhao dipped his head. He and Garen shook hands and nodded at each other.
"Nice to meet you, Sara!" Lux smiled brightly, shaking hands with Sara who couldn't help but laugh at the girl's enthusiasm.
"I hope we get to speak again, Sara." Garen held out his hand and Sara shook it.
"I hope so too, Garen." She smiled, tapping him on the shoulder.
Garen and Sara smirked at each other before the former turned to walk away with Lux.
"She's really nice." Sara heard Lux say, and now she had a flattered smile on her face.
"I like Lux." Sara smirked.
"She is a sweet girl indeed. Lux is nothing like a girl you've ever seen before." Xin Zhao agreed.
"Listen, thank you for defending me back there. It means a lot." Sara said gratefully.
"It was no problem, Sara," Xin Zhao smirked. "I cannot stand by and let innocent people be prosecuted. Not anymore." He muttered as an afterthought.
"So now what?" Sara asked, looking around.
"Tomorrow we can start looking for ways to get you back to your world." Xin Zhao explained.
"All right, thanks again." Sara said.
Later
Sara lay on the hard wooden bed, staring up at the ceiling.
"What a day." She muttered to herself.
'I'm glad things got sorted out and I didn't land in the dungeon, but now how am I supposed to get home?' Sara thought. 'I'm in a total high fantasy world.'
Next door, she heard Xin Zhao begin to sing.
"Fear not this night, you will not go astray, though shadows fall, still the stars find their way. Dawn's just a heartbeat away. Hope is just a sunrise away."
Sara closed her eyes, enjoying the soothing melody.
A voice whispered inside her head.
"You are about to experience some great hardships. Just wipe your brow and keep pushing through. It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true. And remember, the Multiverse shall soon dissolve like snow. The sun forbear to shine. But Bard, who called you here below, will be forever triumphant."
Sara furrowed her eyebrows. Who was talking, and what the hell were they talking about?
Was she losing her mind, or was there something, or someone else in her head?
These thoughts plagued Sara's mind for the rest of the night.
And this is done. Hope all the interactions were enjoyed. So now 2 more champions have been introduced.
The first is Garen aka The Might of Demacia.
And the second is Lux aka The Lady of Luminosity.
Garen has some pretty good lore and Lux goes in the world-building section, because she explains what the heck is going in Demacia in the present.
Lux is the first champion whose lore is very integral for you to understand Runeterra, as like I said, she explains what's happening in Demacia, and she progresses the lore further.
And remember, this is 983 AN, which means its 14 years before the present day, which is why these champions are younger, and Garen isn't in the Dauntless Vanguard yet.
Garen is practically the League of Legends version of Captain America, except he uses a sword instead. And his armor is resistant to all forms of magic.
With some of the dialogue, I am also setting up future events and stories that will be explored in both this story and future ones.
Also, I will be doing power scaling's too, ranking every champion based on how powerful they are in the lore. It will start from next chapter onwards.
Next chapter will involve more conversations and interactions, and Sara will meet another champion, this champion being one of my personal faviroutes.
Hope all enjoyed and see you all next time with another chapter.
