Thank you to everyone who has favirouted, followed or reviewed this fic so far.

So yesterday I watched 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings', and I absolutely loved it. Won't give any spoilers for those who haven't watched it yet, but it was amazing.

In my opinion, it wasn't as good as Infinity War or Endgame (obviously), but it was still awesome, and it redeemed the Mandarin in my opinion, after that twist in Iron Man 3.

And Shang-Chi was just a badass in the film.

Now onto the story-

This chapter will involve Sara searching for answers, will introduce another champion, and will involve a lot of conversations.

Chapter 6- Exploring Demacia

Runeterra, The Great City of Demacia

Sara's eyes slowly fluttered open as she heard birds chirping outside. TWEET! TWEET!

Groaning, Sara rubbed her eyes and looked around to see it was daytime. The sun reflected the white walls.

She slowly swung her legs off the bed and looked around. Outside, she could hear people talking, clearly going about their daily business.

She rubbed her eyes and walked out her room, her legs feeling like jelly, though that feeling faded quickly.

Turning to her right, Sara slowly walked into the dining area, where Xin Zhao was reading a red book, his eyes narrowed slightly.

"Sara, you're awake. Did you sleep well?" Xin Zhao asked with a warm smile.

"I did, thanks for asking." Sara smiled. She really liked this guy. He had saved her twice, willingly offered his own home for her to stay in and was just a nice guy in general.

"Is there a plan for today?" she then asked.

"We go to the library," Xin Zhao replied. "There might be information in old books that can possibly send you back to your world."

"I like that. Thank you." Sara smiled gratefully.

"You welcome," Xin Zhao replied. "I left some salted meat and honey cakes in the kitchen for you. You must be very hungry right now."

"I am actually, thanks so much." Sara said with a flattered smile. Xin Zhao smiled at her and they nodded.

Sara looked around. So far, despite her situation, she really liked Demacia. It was pretty, and Garen and Lux were both nice. Jarvan IV also seemed cool.

"What time do we go?" she asked.

"In about 10 minutes. I have duties to fulfill, but I will still help you." Xin Zhao vowed.

"Makes sense." Sara shrugged.

Alabaster Library, later

Xin Zhao led Sara into a library. It was winding, with lots of passages here and there, and lined with bookshelves with books packed on them.

"The most ancient books are at the back of the library. We are most likely to find our answers there." Xin Zhao revealed, slowly walking towards it.

"Damn, I hate libraries. They give me the creeps. I much prefer the Internet." Sara muttered to herself.

Xin Zhao gave her a curious look but shrugged it off. There was a lot of stuff about Sara that was still confusing for him.

He led her to a shelf where a thick brown book was. He took it and placed some maps on a wooden table nearby.

"This book details ancient magic from all across Runeterra. Perhaps there is something that can help us." Xin Zhao said.

"All right, let's get to it." Sara nodded. Xin Zhao opened the book, which was all written in runes.

"Can you read that? Because I can't." Sara asked him.

"Indeed I can." He nodded.

Sara looked over at a map of Runeterra, seeing two huge continents, alongside a few islands.

"Is this a map of Runeterra?" she asked.

"Yes. The entire world." Xin Zhao replied.

"Where's Demacia?" she asked curiously.

"Here." Xin Zhao pointed to the huge continent at the top of the map, at the left-hand corner of the land.

"The Empire of Noxus is on the other side of Valoran." He revealed, pointing to the other side of the continent.

"If that's Valoran, then what's this?" Sara pointed to the other continent at the bottom of the map.

"That is Shurima. Once the home of a desert empire, from what I know, it is long gone. Only ruins are left to tell its story." Xin Zhao shrugged.

"So it's like Egypt then." Sara muttered, finding parallels between the Shurima and Egypt.

"What is Egypt?" Xin Zhao asked curiously.

"A country on my world," Sara explained. "Used to be a great empire, but it's gone, and now replaced with a new culture."

"Mmmm, seems we have something's in common," Xin Zhao mused. "Now there are just tribes scattered across Shurima."

"Damn." Sara said. She then looked over at an island at the top right corner of the map.

"That is my home island of Ionia." Xin Zhao smiled softly. "A land of spirits and enlightenment. Monks train there every year, and spirits of old wander the land."

"Sounds lovely," Sara said. "But why are you here and not there? Just asking, is all."

Xin Zhao took a deep breath and said. "The Noxians attacked my homeland almost a decade ago. I was forced to fight in arenas until I was drafted to fight Demacia. Jarvan III freed me and since then, I have faithfully served Demacia. Bloody Noxians."

"Damn." Sara muttered, now understanding his hatred of Noxus and its people. Honestly, she couldn't really blame him for hating them.

Sara then turned her attention back to the map.

"And this?" she pointed to an island at the south.

Xin Zhao's face darkened. "The Shadow Isles. Black Mist shrouds the Isles, drawing the predatory spirits of the dead. Those who perish within the Mist are condemned to haunt the land forever."

"Bloody hell." Sara muttered.

"Then there is the frozen wasteland known as the Freljord, which lies in the far North." Xin Zhao pointed to a drawing above Valoran.

"What's this?" Sara pointed to a small dot next to the Shadow Isles.

"That is Bilgewater, home of pirates, thieves, beasts and drink. A lawless realm." Xin Zhao said.

"And then there is Piltover, an artificial land bridge that connects Valoran and Shurima together. In the canyons underneath dwells Zaun, the City of Iron and Glass." Xin Zhao said.

He pointed to a small land bridge that connected the two continents.

"Talk about an interesting world." Sara muttered.

"And finally, there is Mount Targon, a realm of the Gods that dwell in the Heavens above." Xin Zhao spoke, pointing to a drawing of a towering peak at the edge of Shurima.

"So Gods exist here too then." Sara said, slightly surprised.

"Gods exist in yours?" Xin Zhao asked.

"Yeah. One of my team-mates, Thor is the God of Thunder." Sara said.

"Oh him! Yes, I remember you mentioned him." Xin Zhao said.

"Then there was Superman, who might as well be a God." Sara shrugged, making Xin Zhao chuckle.

Sara had told him about the Justice League, and needless to say, he was very surprised. Having been born in Ionia, a culture full of myths and tales, this was still very surprising.

"What have you found so far?" Sara brought them back on topic. Xin Zhao scrolled through the book, flipping pages as his eyes scanned the runes.

"It mentions here that are some artifacts of immense power. I will need to decipher it further to be able to give you a proper answer." He said.

"Okay." Sara said, slightly disappointed.

"Listen, I know you want to get back to your world, but these types of things you can't rush. It will take time." Xin Zhao counselled her.

"Thanks a lot." Sara smiled. The two looked back at the book and continued reading.

"Question, why do you guys hate Noxians so much?" Sara asked carefully.

"They are an expansionist empire," Xin Zhao explained. "They have tried to conquer all of Runeterra ever since the Empire was founded 983 years ago. They have attacked Demacia multiple times, and one of them even slew King Jarvan I."

"Damn!" Sara muttered, now understanding why the Demacians seemed to hate Noxus a lot.

Later

Sara walked across a courtyard. People were staring at her and whispering. Guess news spread really fast around here, Sara mused to herself.

She noticed a familiar face and walked towards him. Jarvan IV turned to face her, a surprised look on his face.

"Ah, Ms. Lance, how are you?" he asked kindly.

"I am good Your Highness." Sara replied.

"Did Xin Zhao help you with your problem?" he asked.

"Sort of. It's gonna take a while before it works, but yeah." Sara shrugged.

"I would like to apologize for everyone's behavior yesterday. We do not like outsiders." Jarvan said, offering her a small smile.

"It's no problem. I don't blame you." Sara waved him off.

"Jarvan!" a familiar voice called out and Sara turned to see Garen and Lux approach the two of them.

"Garen!" Jarvan smiled, hugging him. "This is-"

"Sara Lance, yes, we have met before." Garen interrupted, turning towards the woman and holding out his hand.

"Good to see you again, Garen." Sara shook his hand.

"You two met?" Jarvan asked, surprised.

"Xin Zhao invited us for tea yesterday afternoon." Lux intervened. She turned to Sara and gave her a beaming smile.

"Are you up for some sparring?" Garen asked Jarvan.

"Of course." Jarvan smirked.

"Oh I want to see this." Sara crossed her arms.

"My bet is on Garen." Lux whispered to her.

"I don't know either of them, so I'll just stay neutral." Sara chuckled to herself.

"Fair enough." Lux smirked. Garen and Jarvan stepped into a sand filled arena. A lot of soldiers and people stopped and turned to face the duo.

"Here we go." Sara heard someone say.

Jarvan walked up to a rack filled with weapons and chose a spear, while Garen picked up a large sword and gave it a few twirls.

Sara and Lux watched from the sidelines as dozens of people came up on either side to watch. Sara saw lots of people whispering and smirked. This was gonna be fun.

Garen and Jarvan circled each other in the arena, smirking.

"You ready?" Jarvan asked his friend.

"Never been more." Garen replied.

Steeling themselves, Jarvan leapt at Garen. He raised his sword to block and the two clashed.

Garen tried to bring the sword down overhead but Jarvan ducked and tried to hit his legs in a spin motion.

Garen jumped back to avoid and sent a barrage of cuts at Jarvan who blocked each time with his spear.

Jarvan flipped and landed about to strike before Garen spun around to block as the clang of steel rang out.

"You sure this is safe?" Sara muttered to Lux.

"They've done this a few times before, they should be fine. They're both like 19." Lux shrugged.

Jarvan tried to strike and Garen blocked while backing off. As Jarvan leapt at him, Garen rolled away to avoid and thrust forward.

Jarvan spun his spear around to block, and Garen rolled back. The two stopped and circled each other again.

"Let's see how well this goes." Sara muttered.

Garen struck first, spinning like a tornado and sending a barrage of cuts. Jarvan backed off to avoid and trust forward.

Garen narrowly avoided the slice and moved in a spin motion. Jarvan ducked to avoid and attempted to stab but Garen blocked again.

"Damn they're good." Sara muttered. Garen and Jarvan continued fighting, turning into blurs of steel, making Sara's jaw drop.

This was the second time someone had done this. How the hell were we moving so fast?

Garen flipped Jarvan to the ground and aimed the sword at his throat.

"Do you yield?" he asked.

"Never!" Jarvan retorted, rolling away and grabbing his spear.

"Taric! You seeing this?" someone called out.

Sara turned to see an incredibly handsome man with raven black hair that reached down to his shoulders. He was wearing a tunic with intricate gems hanging around his neck.

"Bloody hell." Taric commented as he watched the fight in amusement and interest.

Garen sighed and swung his sword. Jarvan bent his knees and delivered a punch to his abdomen that completely knocked the wind out of his lungs.

Garen staggered as Jarvan charged again. He side-stepped to avoid and swung his sword which Jarvan avoided and he kicked Garen's knee, slightly staggering him.

As Jarvan attacked, Garen put his sword in the way to block and pushed him back before tripping Jarvan, sending him down.

Taric blocked Garen's strike and grabbed Jarvan, pushing him away.

"All right, that's enough, you 2!" Xin Zhao called out, a hint of amusement on his face.

"Really?" Jarvan asked.

"I don't want to be blamed by the King if you wind up with broken bones." Xin Zhao said.

"Aye, fair enough." Garen shrugged.

Lux sighed a little, squeezing Sara's hand she smiled.

"Here I was looking forward to at least one of them winning." A blonde soldier muttered. Sara looked at her. Damn, she looked pretty.

Some Demacians were singing.

"From the dawn of time we have stood here, answer now the call to engage! In the face of evil defiant, let us be the birth of an age!"

Sara walked away, bumping into Taric on the way.

"Forgive me, my lady." Taric apologized. He offered her a small smile and then frowned. "Have we met before?"

"No, I'm…not from around here." Sara said, brushing some hair behind her ear.

"You must be Sara Lance. The woman brought in with the Dauntless Vanguard." Taric realized, holding out his hand.

"Yes I am." Sara shook it.

"Do you want to go for a walk? I have a lot of time on my hands." Taric offered.

"Well…why not?" Sara shrugged.

"If you don't mind me asking, why are you here in Demacia?" Taric asked kindly as the two walked.

"It's a very long story. Short version, I'm from another land far away from here, and I am trying to get back home." Sara said.

"Have you had any luck yet?" Taric asked.

"Not yet." She shook her head. Wow, this guy was one of the kindest people she had met on Runeterra so far. He had been polite and didn't judge her at all.

"If you do need any help, I will be here to help." He said.

Sara looked at him in shock. Taric was like Xin Zhao. They had just met and he was already offering to help her. Some people were truly remarkable.

"Do not thank me," Taric waved her off. "And it is just Taric."

"Sara." She smiled.

"Do you need any help?" Taric asked.

"Uh sure." Sara said.

"Then let us go." Taric beamed.

Sara and Taric walked into the Alabaster Library together, finding the books and map still on the table.

"Shall we?" he asked.

"We shall." Sara smiled.

Sara flipped through some pages of a book, reading about it. She scanned stuff until a certain name caught her attention.

Mordekaiser.

"Who is Mordekaiser?" she asked curiously. Taric jerked back, almost as if he had been punched. He had gone pale.

"The infamous Iron Revenant. A warlord from a bygone age. We do not speak his name." Taric said quietly.

Her eyes scanned over another name- Rune Wars. She had no idea what that was, but clearly it was a big name.

What they didn't know, was that times of change were about to come.

"I believe Xin Zhao found something that can help you." Taric said. Sara looked at him in shock.

And done here. I wanted to get a brief match between Jarvan and Garen in this one, and decided this would be the perfect opportunity. And another champion has been introduced.

The champion is Taric aka The Shield of Valoran. He is one of my faviroutes and his lore is pretty good too.

In terms of power, I would rank Garen slightly higher than Jarvan IV. Both in canon and in this series, Jarvan and Garen trained together.

The difference is that Garen is deployed in combat more often, so he can beat Jarvan in a one-on-one fight. But he is only slightly above Jarvan in terms of power.

Taric is at the same level as those two for now, but he will gain a massive power boost in the future. Those who are familiar with the lore will know what I mean *winks*

So now all the regions on Runeterra have been revealed, and we will visit and explore each one in great detail.

The regions are- Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, Piltover, Zaun, Bilgewater, the Freljord, Shurima, Mount Targon and The Shadow Isles.

Ixtal is also there but we will get there later. And there is one more region but that will be revealed much later in the story.

Now next chapter will finally move the entire plot along further, and you'll see why.

Hope everyone enjoyed and see you all next time with another chapter.
