This chapter will begin moving the plot forward by quite a bit, which means a lot of new adventures for Sara. And of course, more heartbreaks. New champions will also be introduced.

Chapter 7- News and Farewells

Runeterra, The Great City of Demacia

"What did you just say?" Sara asked Taric, shocked.

"There is something in the land of Ionia that can possibly send you home." Taric revealed.

Sara sat back in her chair, rubbing a hand over her face. This was truly possible. She could find a way back home.

"I should probably tell Xin Zhao about this." Sara muttered. Taric looked over at her and nodded.

"I will join you later." He said. Sara got up and slowly walked out of the library, walking towards Xin Zhao's house.

Some people shot her strange looks but Sara couldn't care less. Her eyes brimmed with excitement as she practically speed-walked into Xin Zhao's house.

"Sara, what is the matter?" he asked with alarm.

"Taric and I were searching through old books, and he says that there is a way for me to get home, and that it is in Ionia." Sara said, smiling brightly.

Xin Zhao's eyes widened. "Really? In Ionia?"

"Yes, that's what Taric said." Sara nodded.

Xin Zhao ran a hand over his face and said. "If it is true, then you need to get to Ionia. What is the way?"

"Something about an ancient relic." Sara said.

"That will be difficult," Xin Zhao muttered. "Ionia is filled with those."

He muttered in Ionian, confusing Sara before he looked at her and said. "I will accompany you on your quest."

"What?" Sara's eyes widened. "You don't have to. This is my problem."

"And you are my ward, therefore I am going to help you," Xin Zhao replied firmly. "Besides, it's Ionia. My birthplace. I know the land better than you do."

"I'm stunned and honored. It's really not necessary." Sara said gratefully.

"I am bound by honor to aid you," Xin Zhao replied. "First, I must get permission from the King. Then we need to get a boat."

"How are we going to do that?" Sara frowned.

"I know someone." Xin Zhao muttered.

Sara looked up at the ceiling, wondering what was going to happen next.

Later

Sara walked down a small pathway, looking around at the city. She could finally go home; and that filled her heart with excitement.

But she was stepping into a new land, and the only place she had been to was Demacia. At least she had Xin Zhao to help her out.

That was if the King agreed to it. Sara continued walking and stopped near a temple. Looking up, she saw a huge statue of a winged being.

Find the Twins. Kayle and Morgana.

Something whispered inside her mind, making Sara whip her head around, but no one was close by.

"Damn it, I'm going crazy out here." Sara muttered to herself. As she walked forward, her ears picked up some singing inside.

"Day is ended, dim my eyes. But journey long before me lies."

Sara smiled softly, liking the sound of the voice.

"Sara!"

She turned around to see Xin Zhao approaching her with Jarvan IV, Garen and Lux by his side.

"Hey." She greeted.

"I spoke to the King and he agreed. I will guide you to the shores of Ionia." Xin Zhao said.

"So you are from another world?" Lux asked. Sara looked at her, realizing Xin Zhao must have told her.

"Yes I am." Sara said. Garen and Jarvan traded looks and nodded.

"I spoke to Taric," Jarvan revealed. "He is going to get you a boat."

Sara smiled gratefully. "Thank you all so much."

"You may be from another world, but you seem honorable," Garen said. "That, and Jarvan informed us that you are not a Noxian."

Sara shot Jarvan a grateful look and he nodded with a smirk.

"I would say rest up, Sara, for the journey will be long." Jarvan advised.

"All right, thank you." Sara nodded. "I will catch up with you later."

She turned and walked towards the Temple of the Lightbringers, stepping inside and seeing a statue.

"Maybe I can get home. I will. No matter what." Sara muttered, clenching her fists.

She heard someone talking. "Jax, the Grandmaster at Arms is for us. He is not against us. Champion of Runeterra, he will make a way for all to enter it."

Sara walked away, confused and conflicted.

Later, evening

Sara stood on a balcony, looking out at Demacia. The sun was beginning to set, creating a glow around the kingdom.

Sara looked at the map in her hands. It would take a really long time to sail all the way around Runeterra.

Ionia was on the other side of Runeterra, and the only way to get there would be to sail around the Shuriman Continent to get there.

At least Xin Zhao would go with her, so that was a good sign.

Sara scanned the scroll in her hands, reading about something called 'The Rune Wars' which happened almost a thousand years ago.

"Fascinating world." She muttered to herself.

Sara looked over at the horizon. This world had a hundred thousand things to see. Unbelievable sights, indescribable feelings.

Sara sighed softly. "I can do this."

As she scanned the ancient scroll, the name 'Ruined King' caught her eye, and she narrowed her eyes, wondering who that was.

A pit of dread formed inside her stomach, and she wondered what the heck was about to happen.

As she walked inside, she picked up a mug of ale and took a gulp, letting the cold liquid splash against the back of her throat.

"Let's do this."

Sara walked towards her room, ready to get some sleep before the big day tomorrow.

She lay on her bed and looked up at the ceiling.

"If there are any Gods, then please take me further than my feet could ever wander."

The next day

Sara strapped a double-edged sword with a red gem on its hilt to her side and looked over at Jarvan.

"My father wishes to speak to you before you leave." He said.

"All right. Oh, and thanks for the sword." Sara said.

"It was no problem and you welcome." Jarvan smiled.

He walked outside, leading her towards the palace. Sara looked over at the dark-haired man, noting how he carried himself with confidence.

Jarvan pushed open the doors and Sara saw King Jarvan there on his throne and he looked up at them both.

"Father." Jarvan greeted, bowing slightly.

Sara walked forward and bowed, looking up at the King after a few moments.

"I hear you have found a way to get back to your world." King Jarvan began.

"I am honestly not sure, Your Highness, it looks promising. I will be leaving today, with your permission." Sara said.

King Jarvan nodded. "I wish you luck on your quest. May you succeed."

"Thank you, Your Highness." Sara bowed.

"That is all I wanted to say. I bid you farewell." King Jarvan said.

"It was an honor to meet you. Thank you for your kind hospitality. I will never forget you and your wonderful kingdom." Sara said.

"You will always be welcome in Demacia." King Jarvan smiled.

Sara bowed again and turned to leave, Jarvan following her out the throne room. They walked out the castle towards the Palace Gardens.

"What now?" Sara asked.

"We head to the other side of Demacia," Jarvan began. "There is a boat waiting for you."

He walked towards some stables where two stallions were waiting. One was black with a white stripe in the middle of its head, and the other was completely white.

"You do know how to ride a horse, right?" Jarvan asked Sara.

"Not really," she admitted. "I didn't really like horses when I was a kid. And besides, almost no one uses them in my world, except for sport and entertainment."

"Then what do you use for transport?" Jarvan frowned, confused.

"Things called cars. They look like a metal box on wheels and have engines which is what propels them. They can go very long distances without tiring or stopping. They are closed, so even when it's raining, you can remain dry." Sara said carefully.

Trying to explain what a car was in detail to Jarvan would probably open up a whole can of worms.

"That sounds very interesting, but I cannot imagine how a metal box can move by itself without a horse pulling it." He muttered, shaking his head.

"I suppose I would also be confused if I had never seen or experienced it." Sara chuckled.

He walked next to the black horse and gestured for Sara to come closer. "I will help you get on. Just give me your foot. The horse is gentle, don't worry. He is quite calm."

Sara did and Jarvan pushed her up. Sara swung her leg over and landed in the middle of the saddle.

"Put your feet in the stirrup, and not too much. Bend your foot slightly." Jarvan instructed, putting her feet in it.

"Now hold the reins. Not too tightly as you cannot control the horse. In the middle. And don't hold it too loosely either." He showed her how to hold the reins.

"Thanks." Sara said, giving him a flirty smile and wink.

He walked over to his own horse and effortlessly vaulted on top.

Leaning over, he grabbed Sara's horse by the reins and gently guided it onto a path that led outside the city.

"Now kick your horse," Jarvan said. "But not too hard otherwise the horse will gallop to the ends of the Earth."

Sara gulped slightly. She had only ridden once, and she had fallen off. It was definitely not a pleasant experience for her.

'You got this, come on.' She willed herself to kick the horse ever so slightly and it began walking.

"Now kick it slightly harder." Jarvan instructed. Sara did and the horse began trotting, making Sara bounce up and down in the saddle awkwardly.

"Haha!" Jarvan chuckled. "Come on boy."

The horse began moving into a fast canter, making Sara's eyes widen as she gripped the reins so hard, her knuckles began turning white.

"Loosen the reins, now!" Jarvan barked.

"Are you mad?" Sara snapped.

"Just do it, the horse won't run away. Trust me." Jarvan advised.

Sara let go ever so slightly, and the horse rode down the path, towards where the open ocean could be seen.

"There, you've got it!" Jarvan smiled.

Sara felt herself bounce up and down as Jarvan rode side-by-side with her, a calm expression washing over his face, mixed with amusement.

The horses rode for about another 15 minutes, as the Great City of Demacia faded into the background.

"Where is this boat?" Sara asked.

"At Ehrenmount, in West Demacia. Garen, Lux, Taric and Xin Zhao are waiting for us there. We are about an hour ride from here." Jarvan revealed.

Sara looked around, her hands still tightly glued to the reins. Jarvan rode in front of her, occasionally looking back to see if she was okay.

The sun rose even higher in the sky, signalling that it was mid-day.

"We are about half an hour from there." Jarvan said. Sara's eyes widened. It felt like they had been riding for half an hour and now they still had a lot to go.

"What is that?" Sara pointed to the west, seeing rising mountains stretching into the horizon.

"The Greenfang Mountains. A land pass that divides Demacia with the Freljord. It is also home of ruins of old Demacia." Jarvan replied.

"Looks like a place where Vampires live." She muttered.

"What are Vampires?" Jarvan asked, having heard her.

"You don't know what Vampires are?" Sara asked, her eyes widening.

"No, never heard of them." He shook his head.

"Vampires are a myth in my world, a race of beings that drink blood and come out only at night." Sara explained.

"Bloody hell." Jarvan muttered.

Sara looked around. After what felt like hours, the landscape gave way to a massive city up ahead on a cliff.

It was a lot less majestic than The Great City was, but it was still amazing nonetheless.

"Welcome to Ehrenmount." Jarvan said. The two rode across a white sculpted bridge, entering the city.

"My Prince! What brings you here?" a soldier, someone that Sara recognized as being from the Dauntless Vanguard said in surprise.

"I am passing through, soldier," Jarvan replied. "Where is Garen?"

"By the docks." The soldier replied, bowing.

"Thank you." Jarvan nodded. He and Sara climbed off the horses and he led her to the docks, where multiple ships were.

"Ah, Jarvan." Garen greeted as he, Lux, Xin Zhao and Taric turned to face the two.

"Is there a boat here?" Sara asked.

"Yes, follow me." Xin Zhao said as he led the group to where a large wooden ship was with white sails.

"Lucian, I thought I said we needed a proper boat." Lux frowned. The gangplank hit the ground and a handsome, dark-skinned man in a tunic walked up to them.

"This is a proper boat." Lucian replied, annoyed.

"Woah. He's handsome." Sara muttered, eyeing him up and down.

"Regardless, I believe it is time to leave." Xin Zhao said and Sara nodded, realizing it was time.

"I wish you good luck on your quest, Sara." Jarvan said, holding out his hand and Sara shook it.

"Thanks a lot for everything, Jarvan." Sara smiled.

"I didn't know you for long, but you seem really cool," Lux smiled. "I hope you find a way home."

"Thanks a lot, Lux. Take care." Sara smiled at the younger girl.

"Good luck on your quest. I wish you the best of luck." Garen said and the two locked hands, smirking at each other.

"Remember Sara, sometimes the best weapons are beautiful." Taric smirked and Sara looked at him before nodding.

"Follow me, Sara." Xin Zhao said. He walked towards the boat, shaking hands with Lucian along the way.

"I just met you, but thank you." Sara said to him.

"No problem." Lucian smirked at her.

Sara stepped onto the boat as Lucian began untying the ropes binding the boat.

Xin Zhao began turning the wheel as the propellers began turning. The boat pulled out of the harbor and exited.

"We're on our way." Sara breathed, realizing it was coming true. She could finally go home.

Sara overlooked the open ocean, her blonde hair floating in the wind as she smiled.

"Hope I get the chance to travel this world. But I don't have any plans. Wish I could stay forever this young." Sara said.

"Life's a game made for everyone. And peace is the prize." Xin Zhao revealed.

"Every day, it's as if I play a part." Sara muttered.

She looked at the sea and asked. "Who is that girl I see, staring straight at me. When will my reflection show who I am inside?"

Sara looked out at the sea with a smile.

Suddenly, a demonic wave washed over the deck, making Sara stagger slightly.

"Ah, what the hell?!" Sara grunted, struggling to stay on her feet.

"Shit!" she yelled, wondering what was going on.

"Hang on!" Xin Zhao cried out as another huge wave rose up.

The wave hit the ship again, crashing into Sara and knocking her off her feet again. She went flying overboard and slammed into the water.

Sara tried to swim, but her arms began growing weaker and she began sinking into the depths.

The last thing Sara saw was the ship, before she lost consciousness.

And this is done too. Hope all the interactions were enjoyed here, especially between Sara and Jarvan. So we got a cameo from another champion.

This champion is Lucian aka The Purifier. He will play a massive role later on in this story. Those who are familiar with the lore will know.

Since the concept of Vampires doesn't exist on Runeterra as far as we know, I had Sara explain it to Jarvan.

And no, Vladimir doesn't count, he's a Blood Mage.

Then we had Sara going to the Temple of the Lightbringers which sets up a plot point later on in this story. As well as the reference there too.

Hope all the interactions between Sara, Jarvan, Xin Zhao, Taric, Garen and Lux were enjoyed. Obviously, all of them will return later on in this story as they all play very important arcs.

Xin Zhao can't go with her, because it would become too easy. That, and Sara will make new friends along the way, since the Ionia/Noxus War lasts from 984 to 989 AN.

So the way for Sara to get home is located in Ionia, and this is going to be the next arc of this story, and a very important one as that is how Sara meets a lot of champions.

Next chapter will involve Sara meeting two very, very important champions, so hope everyone is excited.

Hope all enjoyed and see you all next time with another chapter.
