Chapter 12- Bard Mountain
Runeterra, Ionia
The gravel crunched under Sara's boots as she walked up a dirt path. A trail of sweat ran down her neck as the afternoon sun beat down upon her.
It had been a few days since she had left the Hirana Monastery. Sara had talked to Udyr, and he had given her directions to find Bard Mountain, where she could find the relic.
Afterwards, Sara had promised to return and help defend Ionia from the forces of Noxus.
As Sara thought back to her friend, she looked around at the lush plain the dirt trail was surrounded by. Ionia was a truly beautiful place. While Demacia was beautiful in its own way, Ionia was by far the best place she had been.
Sara walked up the trail, a sword loosely hanging to the side of her belt. It had been roughly 4 days since she left the Hirana Monastery.
Wherever she went, she had witnessed the brutality Noxus inflicted upon the land. Entire villages burnt to the ground, corpses left.
It shook Sara to her very core. Even as a member of the Justice League, she had never seen anything like this.
Sara was pulled from her thoughts by a screech in the air and she looked up to see a crow flying overhead.
"Huh, didn't know they had crows here." She murmured to herself, continuing, though her feet began hurting, so she stopped to rest briefly.
Something caught her attention and she turned to see two wooden masks sitting lying against it.
"What are these?" Sara wondered, kneeling to look at them properly.
'The masks of Kindred.' The voice in her head responded somberly.
"Who?" Sara frowned, having never heard of it.
"Kindred, the Eternal Hunters. They are the embodiment of Death itself on Runeterra.'
"What the hell?" Sara muttered, wondering what was going on. She leaned her head against the tree and closed her eyes, deciding to take a small break.
Hours later
BOOM!
Sara jumped slightly as the ground and sky rumbled. Craning her neck, Sara's eyes widened at seeing an explosion in the distance.
"What the-?" Sara trailed off. It was night-time already, and last time she chckeked, it was still mid afternoon.
"REACH THE MOUNTAIN!" someone shouted as she recognized the voice.
"Oh hell no, Noxians." Sara snarled, her blood boiling. She stood up and took off running up the dirt path.
"There she is! The Demacian!" a silver armored soldier said, turning to face her.
Sara narrowed her eyes as several fireballs were hurled overhead towards her. Sara side-stepped as one fireball hit the ground next to her and spread flames across the ground.
"Oh hell no!" Sara said, seeing several arrows hurtling towards her at a rapid speed. She dodged the first two but a third grazed her leg, making her wince in pain.
Seeing a large boulder nearby, Sara ducked behind it as the arrows struck the ground in front of her.
Taking a moment to compose herself, she looked around at the environment. There was a small forest near her that surrounded three massive peaks that stretched into the sky.
Clouds had started to form in the sky, blocking out the moonlight.
"Okay. Let's do this." She muttered.
'Yeah. You must either win or stay on the battlefield.' The voice replied firmly.
Sara turned and began sprinting as fast as she could, avoiding arrows and fireballs being hurled at her.
Within a few minutes, Sara reached the slope of the three peaks, where a burning village was located.
People screamed in fear and horror and ran, while Noxian soldiers cut them down with swords or axes.
Sara's mouth formed a tight line and she drew her sword, her blood boiling at the sight. If her dislike of Noxians wasn't already high, then it was sky-high now.
"Hey! How about you lot pick a fight with someone who can fight back?!" Sara snarled at them.
A Noxian soldier noticed her and charged, swinging an ax. Sara avoided it and hit him with the pommel of his sword, sending him stumbling forward.
Another charged but Sara blocked the strike and decked his abdomen, knocking him out. Grabbing him, she threw him into two others.
Sara side-stepped one and struck his face before flipping and striking another at the back of the head.
She swept a man's legs, before punching another in the abdomen and flipping to avoid another strike.
Sara jumped and kicked another before raising her sword and blocking another strike.
Sara then struck another thug out with her hand, before flip-kicking another. She blocked another punch and elbowed his throat before head-butting him hard, knocking him out.
One thug punched her face hard; whipping it to the other side as Sara fell down, before kicking the thug in his balls, making him grunt as he knelt in pain.
Jumping up, Sara wrapped her legs around the soldier's neck before flipping him to the ground and punching him out.
Sara flipped another and slammed him to the ground, before flipping back up and blocking a jab before countering with a body shot.
She then gave a kick to the Noxian's diaphragm, sending him flying back and into a wall.
A soldier tried to punch but Sara punched back, this time actually sending him flying off. Sara looked at her hand in shock, wondering how she became this strong.
Sara knocked a soldier out with a punch before cutting another down with her sword.
Sara then dove to the side to avoid an ax strike and kicked the Noxian's legs out, sending him down before she kicked him out in a spin motion.
"My lady!"
Sara whipped around to see an old man in a brown cloak and a wispy beard approach her. In his hands was an egg that was glowing faint silver.
"Please, take this to the top of the mountain. The Noxians must not get their hands on it." He begged.
"What is it?" Sara asked.
"A powerful artifact. The Noxians want to use it for their own benefit. Please, Ms. Lance." He said.
Sara looked conflicted for a moment but nodded. "Okay. Get out of here."
How the hell did he know who she was?
Sara looked towards the mountain and took off running towards the stone steps that lead around the peak.
"Get that egg!" a Noxian roared, charging after her. Sara looked behind her and turned back, continuing to sprint.
"Bloody hell!" Sara muttered, running up the stone steps alongside the mountain.
As she did, an arrow struck her side, making her scream in pain and fall down.
"There you are, little girl!" a Noxian roared, charging at her.
'Use the Egg, you idiot!' the voice snapped.
Sara raised her hands and a bright burst of energy emerged from it. The Noxian soldier didn't have any time to react. he was completely obliterated where he stood.
Sara slowly opened her eyes again, and her jaw dropped almost comically. The second peak had been almost cleaved in half.
"Holy, how powerful is this thing?" Sara wondered to herself.
'Get to the peak of the mountain, now!'
Sara scrambled to her feet, though she was hindered by the burning pain in the back of her leg.
She sprinted up the steps and to a huge flat area overlooking the entire area.
An alter stood in the middle of the rock, and the stars glowed brightly overhead. Sara sensed something and narrowly ducked as a fireball was thrown at her head, though the hairs on her neck were lightly singed.
"Give me the egg." The Noxian Mage snarled, his palm lighting on fire again.
"No." Sara refused, facing him with a glare.
"Then I will pry it from your corpse!"
"I missed the part where that was supposed to be my problem." Sara quipped. The Mage roared in anger and charged at Sara, ramming into her and knocking the egg from her hands.

Sara blocked the Mage's punch and elbowed him back before ducking under a strike but was hit by the following one.
Sara dodged a strike from him and tried to smack his face but he ducked. She blocked his strikes twice and tried to hit him but he blocked too.
Sara blocked another strike from him and also a kick.
The Mage tried to slice her throat in a rotatory motion with a dagger but she ducked and managed to snatch the knife. The Mage grabbed him by the throat and pinned her against the alter.
Sara freed herself and tried to hit the Mage with the dagger but he ducked and was punched back.
Before she could recover, the Mage pinned her against the alter, punched her twice and threw her across the ground.
"Demacian filth. Give me the Egg." The Mage smirked.
"Shut up!" Sara rolled her eyes, kicking him in the abdomen and staggering him away.
The Mage swung but Sara ducked and kicked him in the head. She jumped and spin-kicked him.
The Mage chanted under his breath as he threw something at Sara. She barely had a moment to react before she realized what it was.
Something green exploded in her face and Sara began sputtering, staggering as it burnt her throat and lungs.
"Poison…gas." She groaned.
"Impressive, isn't it?" the Mage asked. "I have finally tuned my magic to be able to do this. Within a few moments, you will be dead, and that Egg will be mine. Noxus will rise."
Sara tried to resist, but the toxin was beginning to take effect and she fell down.
The Mage calmly walked over and picked the Egg up. As he did though, a bright white light filled the area, forcing Sara to shield her eyes.
The glow faded and Sara looked up to see the strangest being she had ever seen. And she had fought aliens, so that said something.
It was about six feet tall, dressed in red robes, but there were no legs. Instead, there were rods in replacement.
The being was surrounded by a mane of white fur with a golden face that held two glowing eyes and a hole in place of a mouth.
Sara and the Mage were both thrown by its appearance, but Sara somehow felt warm in its presence.
The being pointed its hand and the Mage flew off the mountain, screaming as he did so.
The being chimed and grabbed the egg before hopping over to Sara. It looked at her with something that could only be described as fondness.
'He is Bard, the God of Gods. He is above all wisdom and all the ways of Men. He was here before the Multiverse began.' The voice whispered in awe.
Bard touched Sara and instantly, she felt better. The toxic gas was completely erased from her body.
"What…how?" she sputtered.
Looking up, Sara's eyes widened. This being truly felt like a God, and she felt calm and at peace in his presence.
Bard waved his hand and a portal opened. With the Egg in his hand, Bard walked into it as a beam of golden light shot into the sky, illuminating it.
Sara's hair fluttered as she watched the scene in awe. The mountains themselves rumbled from the shear power, before the beam disappeared.
Sara heard something and looked down to see the village burning still.
"Oh my God, what happened?" she asked, in awe.
'Now you need to find the villagers. They will help you.' The voice said, though it was till in awe.
Sara looked down and up again. Her decision made, Sara turned to run. Doesn't matter what world she was in, she would fight for truth and justice.
"Let's see what they can do. Hopefully these people can help send me home."
And this is done. Hope the fights were enjoyed in this.
So Sara has encountered another champion, and it's Bard aka The Wandering Caretaker.
Bard is the 4th strongest champion overall in the lore, so he is insanely powerful. I know he disappeared now, but Bard will have at least three more appearances in this overall story.
More about Bard will be revealed in upcoming chapters, as he will be crucial to Sara's overall arc.
Hope the fights were enjoyed here and I have an explanation as to why Sara was stronger in this than normal.
So now Sara will help the people, and some answers will be revealed, that will direct the overall plot further, as well as set up an important story-line within this fic.
Hope everyone enjoyed and see you all next time with another chapter.
