So yes, as the title of this chapter reveals, I'm doing a 1 year time gap between the previous chapter and this one, because it makes more sense with what I have planned later.
And here we go.
Chapter 18- 1 year later
Runeterra, Ionia, Navori Village
Sara grunted in pain as she swept the floor with a straw broom, looking around at the tiny wooden room with a door and two windows. A mirror was on a wall to her right.
She craned her neck to look into the mirror.
Her hair had grown, reaching past her shoulders, and the color had faded from golden to a more dirty blonde.
Sara walked over to her bed, grunting as she limped on her right side. Even though it had been almost a year since she had battled Varus and he had shattered her leg, the injury hadn't properly healed, in spite of ancient Ionian magic's being used.
She had been rescued by Ionian soldiers travelling past, and had been sent to the other side of the island, a place called Navori Village.
She sighed and sat down on the bed, feeling useless.
"I can't do a damn thing!" she groaned in frustration.
"Not exactly, Sara." The Aspect of the Wanderer spoke.
"What do you mean?" she asked.
'Simply to tell you that the journey does not end here. The Boots are in Ionia, and the War is far from over. In the coming days, you will be needed. You need to decide where you will be, when it all ends.' The Aspect said.
"In case you haven't noticed, dumbass, I'm disabled." Sara sassed back.
The Aspect sighed, unimpressed. 'Ask the Vastaya. They can cure her leg enough for you to walk and even fight.'
"Gods are morons." Sara muttered, looking away briefly. He chose to ignore her.
"Do not fear, Sara Lance. If you are to help this world, you need to have no guilt in life, nor fear in death. I have another war to fight. The ultimate one is coming, and will be fought in all Realms." The Aspect said, before its voice faded.
Sara stared after him in a mixture of annoyance and confusion. As she mulled these thoughts, the wooden door opened and a young woman, about 20 entered, a bandana wrapped around her head. She was wearing a green robe and silver necklace. At the end of it was a pendant of a Dragon.
She was carrying a bowl of water with a brown cloth in it.
"How are you feeling today, Sara?" the woman asked kindly.
"Not so good, now that you ask, Hanako." Sara said, smiling at the young healer.
"I am sure it will get better. And remember, the day's still young." Hanako replied, smiling at her friend.
"I hope so too." Sara said. She walked towards the broom closet, grunting slightly as she tried to avoid putting so much pressure on her right leg.
"You need to sit down. I called one of my Vastaya friends to help heal your leg." Hanako said.
"Thank you." Sara said, sitting down on the bed. At that moment, the door opened again and a tall man entered. At least, it looked like a man.
As he walked closer, Sara narrowed her eyes on seeing the man had bird feathers sticking out of his neck, and he had large pointed ears.
"It's rude to stare, you know." The man rumbled with laughter.
"Sorry." Sara blushed in embarrassment, looking away.
"Relax. You are not Ionian, so it is understandable." The man waved her off.
"Sara, this is Bo'lii. A Vastayan tattoo artist and healer." Hanako said.
"Vastaya is…?" Sara trailed off.
"We are the magical descendants of enlightened mortals who took the power of the Spirit Realm into themselves, known as the Vastayashai'rei." Bo'lii said.
"Oh!" Sara muttered in realization.
"So, I hear you have a shattered leg. When did this happen?" he asked.
"Almost one year ago, in Pallas." Hanako intervened.
"Oh!" Bo'lii muttered in realization, kneeling next to her leg and analyzing it.
"The leg has healed slightly, but the bone hasn't. it's hitting a nerve, which is why you sill limp badly, and it will remain until the end of your days." He said.
Sara felt her heart sink at those words, but Hanako squeezed her hand in support.
"Can you fix it?" Sara pressed.
"I can try, but I'm not sure if it'll work." Bo'lii replied, touching her knee and closing his eyes.
Sara felt a warm feeling in her leg, and he grunted slightly. After a few moments, he stopped.
"I cannot fully heal the leg, though I have alleviated some of the pain. Your leg will never properly heal though. You will always limp." Bo'lii said, guilt in his eyes.
Sara sunk back onto her bed, devastated. The leg would never heal? No that couldn't be true.
"I am sorry. If I could heal your leg, I would without hesitation." Bo'lii said to her.
Sara closed her eyes sadly.
"Still, Bard has a plan for us all. We are his portion, and he is our prize. Our ancestors were drawn to redemption by the grace in his eyes. If the end is an ocean, we're all sinking." Hanako said.
"Thank you, Bo'lii." Sara said quietly. He looked at her with worry, but she waved him off.
"I will return in a few days. Do not worry." He said, walking out.
"You will be fine." Hanako said, gently squeezing her shoulder in support.
Sara nodded, not believing it though.
The next day
Sara slowly walked outside the room into a small courtyard with statues on the side. Her leg was better, as she could walk without wincing every 3 seconds.
"Sara!" Hanako said, rushing up to her, beaming, with Bo'lii next to her.
"Hey guys, what's up?" Sara asked.
"I know someone who can help you get back to your world." Bo'lii said.
"Wait…how do you even know about that?" Sara frowned.
"Your friend, Lee Sin. He sent me to help you."
Sara beamed at the thought of her friend.
"Deep within the woodlands of Ionia, lives the Green Father." Bo'lii explained.
"Who?"
"He was a former warlord from the Freljord who came to destroy the God-Willow, an ancient magical tree that gave magic to the land. He was turned into the Green Father, the tree itself." Bo'lii said.
'This world is getting stranger and stranger.' Sara thought to herself.
"He can give you the location of the Boots." He continued.
"All right. Thank you." Sara said, smiling.
Sara strapped a piece of cloth to her leg, bandaging it, so that it would allow her to walk.
Sara walked through the woods, panting slightly. It had been almost a day since she left Navori Village, and she was now heading for Weh'le, a river settlement near a great forest.
She stopped and sat on a rock, rubbing her leg.
'Boy, I wish I had a pack of ice with me." She grumbled to herself.
She stood up and continued walking, slower this time, because of the pain. As she walked further, she got the feeling that someone was following her.
Sara looked back at the woods, but no one was there.
"What the…" she trailed off. Looking back, she scanned the forest, but there was nothing there.
Sara turned back to walk through the woods. A stick broke and she whipped around.
"Fuck!" Sara moaned as pain shot through her leg.
Sara staggered towards a nearby tree and lay there, resting her leg. She couldn't continue on like this.
Slowly, she found herself drifting off to sleep, despite her protests. Her eyelids rose and then fell like waves in the ocean as she was trying to keep her eyes open to stay awake.
Sara snapped her eyes open as she felt a searing pain shoot through her chest. She looked in front of her to see a young and stunningly beautiful Asian woman with dark hair.
She was wearing a short skirt. But the most striking feature about her was the whiskers on the side of her face, and the fox ears.
"What…are…you?" Sara tried to fight, but she found herself weakening. Golden energy flowed from her body in waves, into the woman's palm. It felt like her soul was being drained.
The woman was smirking, but slowly, her smirk faded to a frown and she stopped.
"Oh God, what have I done?" the woman spoke, slowly backing off in horror.
Sara was too tired and exhausted to respond, instead laying back and trying to recover her strength.
"I am so sorry." The woman said quickly, putting her hand on Sara's knee. She yelped loudly and she backed off again.
"Oh God, I'm so sorry." The woman muttered. Sara was about to raise her hand but fell back, not dead, just badly weakened.
"I am Ahri." The woman said. To Sara's shock, Ahri easily picked her up bridal style and began running through the forest at an inhuman speed.
"I can help you." Ahri muttered in worry and horror.
Sara groaned. What the heck now?
And done. Hope all the reactions were well done in this. Obviously, the War is still raging, but Sara is permanently limping, though it gets better.
And a new champion has been introduced and it's Ahri aka The Nine-Tailed Fox.
Lore wise, I would rank her as good. Not great, just good. She has some pretty awesome stories but these days she's just good.
And now the Vastaya have also been introduced as well, and I will expand on the event known as the Titan War at some point down the line.
So now Sara will begin searching for the Boots, and that will cover the entirely of this arc. Though she won't do it alone.
Hope everyone enjoyed and see you all next time with another chapter.
