This chapter will cover Sara, Ahri and Lillia on their journey, and one new Ionian champion will appear.
Chapter 20- Wuju Bladesman
Runeterra, Ionia, Weh'le
Sara, Ahri and Lillia slowly walked up a dirt hill together, looking around at the morning sun.
"Lillia, do you even know where you're going?" Sara asked, her beady eyes scanning the Bashful Bloom.
"I hope so, luv," Lillia said shyly. "I am followin' the magic of the land."
"Okay." Sara muttered. Ahri looked over at her, worried.
"I'm fine." Sara said on noticing the Nine-Tailed Fox's expression.
"You don't look it." Ahri commented.
"Well I am." Sara snapped, and then sighed.
"Sorry."
"It's okay. I understand." Ahri waved her aside.
The three continued walking, or trotting in Lillia's case, for another 10 minutes in silence.
Eventually, the throbbing pain in Sara's leg became unbearable, so she limped and sat on a rock.
"You okay?" Ahri asked, looking at her.
"I'll be fine…just let me rest for a little while." Sara said.
"We are near some shelter. We can rest there for a while." Lillia spoke up.
"No, I'll be fine, guys," Sara said. "Lillia, where exactly are we?"
"We are near the edge of Weh'le," the Bashful Bloom replied. "I sensed some great magic on the island of Bahrl."
"Where the hell is that?" Sara frowned.
"Bahrl is an island, south of the mainland, on which we are on," Ahri explained. "If what Lillia is saying is correct, we need to go there."
"Fair enough. Where's the coast though? 'Cause we're gonna need a boat." Sara pointed out.
Ahri and Lillia traded looks, before the former smirked. "Oh leave that to me."
Sara eyed her for a moment, before nodding.
"I can carry you if you want?" Lillia offered, blushing slightly.
"I can walk, but thanks for the offer anyway." Sara shrugged.
"We better get going if we want to reach Bahrl by the end of the week." Ahri muttered.
3 days later
Sara, Lillia and Ahri walked along a dirt trail surrounded by overgrowing weeds on either side.
"Someone needs to take care of the land." Lillia said in worry.
"Can't, they're all too busy fighting the Noxian curs." Ahri shrugged.
"No kidding." Sara muttered darkly.
"You really seem to hate these Noxians." Lillia noted.
"Well…yes," Sara said. "They have no respect, and they've tried to murder me several times."
"Fair enough." Lillia nodded.
The three continued walking along the dirt path. Ahri's fox ears suddenly perked up on sensing something.
"What is it, Ahri?" Sara asked tiredly.
"There is a powerful source of magic nearby." The Nine-Tailed Fox said.
"Really?" Sara asked.
"She is right, I can sense it too." Lillia added.
As the three walked forward carefully, someone stepped into their path. He looked middle aged.
He was wearing yellow and grey armor, and a pencil thin beard trailed from his chin. A glowing sword was in his right hand, and he twirled it.
But by far the most striking feature about him were the 7 glowing yellow goggles attached to a yellow and silver helmet on his head.
"Okay this guy looks like a Japanese action figure." Sara thought to herself in disbelief.
"Who are you supposed to be?" Ahri asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I am Master Yi." The man replied coolly, never dropping the sword he aimed at the Trio.
"Master Yi?" Sara asked.
He looked over at her curiously, and Sara shivered, feeling as though he was reading her very soul.
"You wield the power of Wuju!" Lillia said, shocked.
"Wuju?" Sara asked, confused, while Ahri's eyes widened and she also took a slight step back.
"Indeed I do." Master Yi replied. The goggles on his face stopped glowing brightly, and he sheathed his sword.
"I sense great pride…and deep pain." Lillia said carefully.
Master Yi grimaced while Ahri's fox ears drooped and tears formed in her eyes.
"Woah, are you crying?" Sara asked, shocked.
"The pain…it's as bad as yours, if not worse." Ahri said, wincing.
Master Yi lowered his head as Sara looked over at him.
"You can sense my thoughts and emotions, can't you, Vastaya?" he asked.
"Yes I can." Ahri nodded through the tears.
"I sense your soul, my lady," Master Yi said to Sara. "You are broken and lost, but you bear no ill will towards Ionia and its people. Which is more than I can say for Noxus."
"Um…thanks, I suppose." Sara said. "You can read souls?"
"With these Lenses, yes." Master Yi revealed, tapping his helmet.
"Look, we were going to Bahrl." Ahri revealed.
"You will not find anyone there," Master Yi replied solemnly. "My village of Wuju was wiped out. Only I remain."
"What?" Sara, Lillia and Ahri asked simultaneously.
"The Noxians destroyed my village with chemical bombs," the Wuju Bladesman replied. "Now, there is only one left."
Lillia put a hand to her mouth in horror, while Sara clenched her fists in anger. Ahri looked down sadly.
"The three of us are going to fight the Noxians." Sara spoke.
Master Yi knew what the actual quest was, but he didn't want to pry, as it was not polite. Besides, if Sara wanted to tell him, she would.
"I will not be joining you," he declared. "I will remain here, as penance."
"What? Why?" Ahri looked shocked.
"It was my fault my village was destroyed. I must pay the price." Master Yi said, bowing his head.
Sara traded looks with her companions.
"Listen, Master Yi, I've learnt that sitting and moping all day isn't going to solve anybody's problems. The Noxians will continue to attack and destroy Ionia."
"I've caused enough problems." Master Yi said.
"Look, you've got to work with me here," Sara reasoned. "If you wanna mope, sit here all day. If you wanna make amends, you get off your ass!"
Everyone looked over at her in shock, but she ignored them all.
Master Yi looked at her and said. "Okay. Maybe you are right about that."
Sara looked down at her bandaged leg and sighed. "Look, I understand your pain. Better than anyone. Granted, I didn't have my entire village wiped out, but I know how it is to be broken."
"Maybe you can help us." Lillia suggested shyly.
Sara slowly turned to face her, confused.
"Seriously?" the blonde woman raised an eyebrow.
"Think about it," Ahri added. "He wields the power of Wuju. We are searching for a magical relic. He can help us."
"What exactly is Wuju?" Sara asked.
"Ancient spiritual martial arts." Master Yi replied.
"If this isn't Feudal Japan, I don't know what is." Sara chuckled to herself.
Master Yi still looked solemn.
"All right, we'll get going. Stay here if you want." Sara said to him.
She slowly turned to walk away, rubbing her sore knee.
Lillia looked at the Wuju Bladesman with pleading eyes, but eventually, Ahri gently tugged on her arm and she trotted away.
Master Yi looked down, conflicted.
Later
Sara, Ahri and Lillia rowed the small boat that Ahri had gotten from an old Vastayan friend of hers.
"So you are from another Universe?" Lillia asked Sara.
"Yes I am." Sara replied.
"I have heard tales about other worlds beyond the stars, but never encountered someone from them." The Bashful Bloom commented.
"When I drained your soul, I saw glimpses." Ahri added.
Sara looked over at her and nodded.
"Boy, with Thanos, that was a very long time ago." She said softly. It had been almost two years since she had arrived on Runeterra.
"Don't worry, luv, I will help you get back to your world." Lillia promised.
"Oh, Lillia, thank you," Sara said with tears in her eyes. "You are too kind for your own good."
Lillia blushed from the praise, while Ahri simply chuckled.
"It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift, the baffled King composing Hallelujah." Sara recited.
"A song from your world?" Ahri guessed.
"Yes it is." Sara smiled.
"We are nearing the mainland." Sara noted.
"We shall help you." Ahri promised.
Sara first noticed the destruction when a piece of wood impaled itself in the ground at her feet.
"Yi wasn't really joking." Sara said in disbelief.
"Not at all." Ahri said grimly.
The Trio walked up the hill overlooking the remains of a destroyed village.
"Oh my God." Sara whispered in horror. There were hundreds of freshly buried graves, swords sticking out of them in replacement of crosses.
"Noxians." Ahri snarled in anger, and Sara didn't disagree with her.
"I sense great pain." Lillia murmured sadly.
"You don't say." Sara groaned.
The three walked forward, looking around with a mixture of horror, anger and sadness.
"Who is that?" Lillia pointed towards a man kneeling in front of a pair of graves.
Sara narrowed her eyes. The man wore the same armor that Master Yi did, but there was no helmet.
"Hello, there." Lillia called out.
The man turned around and all three stopped in their tracks. It was indeed Master Yi, but he didn't wear his helmet. It was in his hands.
Sara looked over at the middle aged, yet saddened face. Long black hair trailed down to his shoulders, and he sighed.
"Greetings, Dream Fawn." Master Yi said.
"How did you get all the way from Weh'le to here before we did?" Sara frowned suspiciously.
It had taken them almost a week travelling by boat to arrive there.
"My powers are greater than you can imagine." Master Yi replied cryptically.
"This is Wuju, isn't it?" Ahri guessed, though she already knew the answer.
"Yes." The Wuju Bladesman replied with a heavy sigh.
He looked over at Sara and said. "You are right. My ancestors would not wish for me to do nothing. I will ensure the spirit of Wuju lives on."
Sara smiled in response.
"There is something I wish to show you. It is here on Bahrl, away from these ruins." Master Yi said.
He stood up and picked his helmet up too, looking at the three.
"Where are we going?" Sara asked, crossing her arms.
"To an ancient battleground." Master Yi replied simply, turning to walk away from the ruins and into the forest.
"Should we follow him?" Sara asked the other two.
"I trust him. His soul is broken, but pure." Ahri shrugged, smirking slightly.
"Wuju is very powerful. I believe him. Besides, I think I might know where he is leading us." Lillia added, some of her Scottish accent slipping through.
"Fair enough." Sara sighed, following Master Yi into the forest.
Once the Trio had finally caught up with Master Yi, he led them forward. A golden, dazzling sun hung upon a cloudless blue canvas. It was a really good day to hike.
After skirting a grove and crossing a stream, the four finally closed in on some mountains.
"We are well outside Wuju territory." Master Yi remarked quietly.
"Where the hell are we going?" Sara threw her hands up in frustration.
"There." Master Yi motioned over the cliff. Beneath them, white fog blanketed a valley, and further in the distance, blue sky met the mountains. The view as breathtaking.
"You see that?" Master Yi asked. "That's where we're going."
"Into the valley? Are you serious?" Ahri raised an eyebrow.
"Correct."
Master Yi grabbed Sara and moved at superhuman speed. One moment she was on the cliff, the next, in the valley.
"What the fuck?!" she gasped, reminding her of Barry Allen.
Ahri and Lillia also appeared there, both disoriented
"Um…" Ahri trailed off, pointing up ahead.
Sara turned and froze in her place. Countless blades were struck in the ground. Starting from just ten meters away, the vast sea of weapons spread to the foot of the mountain, washing over the valley.
"What the hell is this place?" Sara asked.
"This was the site of an ancient battle," Master Yi revealed. "The combatants left their weapons here. The spirits protect each and every one, helping them resist the corrosion of time."
"I've never heard of a place like this." Lillia said, looking around.
"What I speak of happened a very long time ago. Some of these weapons are older than even the Green Father."
"The Titan War." Ahri said in horror, taking a slight step back.
"What the hell is that?" Sara looked at the Nine-Tailed Fox.
"An old war fought long before modern history. Titans came from the sky."
"I brought you here to communicate with the spirits. So that we may finally rest." Master Yi said.
"What do you mean?" Lillia frowned.
"Runeterra is a place where the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true." Master Yi said.
"Huh!" Sara said.
"I have heard tales of a world beyond all the known ones. A place where blue birds fly." Master Yi sighed softly.
"So…we communicate with spirits here." Sara sighed.
"Yes." Master Yi replied, drawing a second blade he carried. He flipped it twice in his hand and handed it to Sara.
"Hold it. It has ancient spiritual magic within it." Master Yi replied.
Sara took it and slowly felt her arm growing heavier.
"Sit down. It makes it easy." The Wuju Bladesman counselled as she sat down.
Sara closed her eyes and felt her body grow heavier.
"Follow the sound of my voice, and let the spirits take your soul wherever it may go."
Sara saw a powerful vision.
Sara was talking to a beautiful dark blue haired woman who was wearing purple pants, a brown cloak around her waist and a purple shirt. Her blue hair was tied back in a ponytail.
"Sara, are you ready?" the woman asked in a British accent.
"I am, Caitlyn." She replied.
"Caitlyn? What happened to calling me Cait?" she asked with a teasing smirk.
"Seriously? Is now the time?" Sara asked, rolling her eyes.
"We're about to meet my parents, Sara, it's not a big deal." The woman replied, squeezing her hand.
"Easy for you to say." Sara murmured to herself.
She laughed lightly, resting her head on Sara's shoulder and kissing her neck. Sara wrapped one arm around the woman's waist.
"The whole situation with Silco is going bad." Sara sighed.
"We'll figure it out." She promised.
Sara looked to the Heavens and nodded.
"Let's wait for Jayce. I love that guy." Sara chuckled. The woman grinned and pecked her on the cheek.
"We will finish this. Once and for all." Sara vowed.
"We will. I know Jayce and Viktor will help. Together." The woman promised.
She then leaned over and kissed Sara.
Sara smiled and recited part of a song in Spanish. "Un desamparado se salvo, por causa de una buena accion, y hoy nadie lo repudia, Hallelujah!"
The visions faded to black as Sara opened her eyes, gasping and sweating.
But she felt an attraction to this woman, for some reason.
"I know what you saw." Master Yi said calmly as he locked eyes with Sara.
"What was that?!" Sara exploded, shocked.
"It was of an event that can or will come to pass." Master Yi said, sounding pained.
Ahri and Lillia watched carefully, not sure of what to make of it.
Sara took a deep breath to calm herself down.
"I will help you on your quest to find the Ionian Boots of Lucidity." Master Yi spoke.
"You will?" Sara asked, surprised.
"Yes. I will stand, and face Noxus." The Wuju Bladesman declared firmly.
"I'm surprised." Lillia said.
"I need to speak with the Gods above," Master Yi said. "Because somewhere beyond the world, blue birds fly. And if they can be free and happy, then why, oh why, can't us mortals?"
Ahri looked at him with respect in her eyes.
Sara smiled, feeling hope for the first time in over a year.
"We're going to find the Boots, and then we will join the war against Noxus. Once and for all." Sara declared.
Ahri, Lillia and Master Yi looked at her with determination. The war would be finished.
"Sara, you have no idea about all the nights you will have to struggle to survive. You will have to lose it all to win the fight. You will have to fall so many times." The Aspect of the Wanderer warned inside her mind.
And this is done.
So a new champion has been introduced and it's Master Yi aka The Wuju Bladesman.
His lore is absolutely amazing, and if you haven't read it, I seriously recommend you do. He is overall my 3rd faviroute Ionian champion.
The vision was just a small teaser for something down the line, and I hope you can guess who the woman Sara was talking to and what it means *winks*
And yes, Sara is fluent in Spanish.
The line basically translates as this- "A homeless man was saved for the sake of a good deed, and today no one repudiates it, Hallelujah."
So now Master Yi will join Sara, Ahri and Lillia in finding the Boots which will cover the entirety of the next chapter and possibly the next one.
Then they will join the War effort.
Hope everyone enjoyed and see you all next time with another chapter.
