This chapter will cover the massive battle between Ionia and Noxus, so hope all are excited for it.
Chapter 23- Ionia's Last Stand
Runeterra, Ionia, Placidium of Navori
Together, Sara, Udyr, Ahri and Irelia made their way to the edge of the Mystical shield that Karma had generated.
On the other side stood an old man garbed in black armor with a black cloak. Grey hair flowed down his back. He looked at the group with cold and calculating eyes.
Next to him, Ben Farron stood there, and he glared at Sara.
"Hey, Farron." Sara greeted casually.
"I heard you wanted to talk," Irelia said. "Is it about peace?"
"It is, little girl," the man said coldly. "Surrender now, and no harm will come to you."
"You're Jericho Swain?" Sara asked. "Because sweet lord, the Lex Luthor rip offs are real around here.
He looked over at her and smirked. "Yes I am."
"Who the hell us Lex Luthor?" Irelia asked.
Udyr chuckled lowly, remembering Sara telling him about the maniac.
"We will destroy this resistance." Farron rumbled.
"That's not going to happen." Udyr said firmly.
"You are in Ionia now," Irelia said coolly to the duo. "Noxus will have nothing but dust and blood."
"We…..have blood to spare." Swain said, but heard a low chuckle.
All turned to Ahri who shook her head in amusement.
"Noxians really are arrogant," she smirked. "Bring your best, old man. We are ready."
Swain did not respond. Instead, he raised his sword into the air and the ground began rumbling.
The group sensed the fight was about to begin and silently made their way back to their allies.
Hundreds of Ionians stood together on the plain outside the Placidium, all armed and ready for battle.
Lillia, Master Yi and Lee Sin stood together.
"They surrender?" Lee Sin cheekily asked Udyr.
"Not exactly." Udyr said as he, Sara, Ahri, Lee Sin, Master Yi and Lillia stood together.
"Didn't think so." Master Yi shook his head.
"We can do this, right guys?" Lillia asked and they nodded.
"Haven't been in a fight in over a year." Sara said, feeling very nervous. She clenched her fists rapidly.
"We have your back." Udyr declared.
"Thank you." Sara smiled back gratefully.
Swain brought his sword down and thousands of Noxians charged out of waiting ships towards the mystical barrier.
"What the fuck?" Ahri whispered in horror.
Several weapons were loaded and fired powerful bolts that slammed into the shield, slowly cracking it.
Irelia turned to face all the soldiers from the front.
"We will not bow to Noxus!" she roared loudly. "We will show them that we will not ever lose!"
The Ionians all cheered as she continued.
"IT IS TIME TO VANQUISH THE FOE! LOOK AROUND; REMEMBER YOUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS! LET YOUR SHIELD BE ARMOR FOR THEM! THROW YOUR SPEAR AND LET IT STRIKE THUNDER! DRAW YOUR BLADE AND DO IT AGAIN!"
Irelia looked at everyone and declared loud enough for all to hear. "FROM THE DAWN OF TIME WE HAVE STOOD HERE, ANSWER NOW THE CALL TO ENGAGE! IN THE FACE OF NOXUS DEFIANT, LET US BE THE BIRTH OF AN AGE!"
Everyone cheered at that.
Ahead, the barrier finally gave way and the Noxian army surged forward.
"When the hammer booms, let us send the Noxians to their doom!" Udyr declared.
"FOR IONIA!" Irelia screamed.
She then summoned her blades as the armies of Ionia charged as one alongside the heroes.
All the Noxians surged as huge mountains covered the entire side as hills stretched endlessly.
Udyr sped forward and summoned the power of Ornn. He leapt, slamming his fists onto the ground and causing a huge shockwave to throw multiple Noxians to the ground.
Everyone else clashed with the Noxians finally as the fighting spread out.
Sara stabbed a Noxian through the throat, while Lee Sin punched the ground really hard, his chi causing several to fly.
Master Yi managed to barely avoid a Noxian and killed him with a stab to the throat.
Irelia was the epitome of Ionian grace as she fought for the first time, her orbital blades soon becoming coated with Noxian blood.
Ahri's eyes glowed as two Noxians charged at her.
"Kill yourselves." She smirked. The Noxians took their swords and stabbed themselves in the chest, falling to the ground.
"That trick works every time." She laughed. A Noxian swung at her but she avoided and kicked him.
"Why didn't you do that shit earlier?" Sara asked, looking at her.
"It doesn't work on everyone!" Ahri defended. "Besides, where's the fun in that?"
"Fun? This isn't supposed to be fun!" Sara snapped.
"Hey, I haven't had a good fight in almost 140 years." Ahri rolled her eyes while Sara groaned.
Lee Sin punched two Noxians and did a spin kick, taking another charging one down.
Sara barely avoided a strike from a Noxian and stabbed him in the mouth. Her leg hurt, but her rage was stronger than even the pain.
One Noxian managed to disarm her, but she head-butted the soldier hard, taking him down.
Grabbing a soldier by the collar, she kneed him in the gut and then hurled him to the ground.
Lillia managed to avoid a sword swing and smacked the soldier in the head with her staff, knocking him out.
"Volibear give me strength." Udyr prayed. His body ignited with lightning and he charged again, slamming his fist and triggering a huge lightning blast that killed multiple soldiers.
"We mustn't give up!" Lillia said.
"We won't," Ahri declared. "We won't stop till the end, no!"
She punched another solider, while Master Yi spun in a circle and decapitated several soldiers.
An Ionian was stabbed and killed from behind. Irelia promptly avenged him by slashing the Noxian across the throat, killing him.
Sara fought with nothing but her fists at this point, punching, kicking, smashing and head-butting Noxians into oblivion.
She was joined by Master Yi who chopped off heads of five Noxians at once before rolling and stabbing another and taking out another blade decapitated a soldier behind him.
"IONIA!" a soldier roared, stabbing two Noxians. Lee Sin punched another.
"It is time to prove ourselves and RISE!" he shouted, kicking two Noxians and landing smoothly on the ground.
Lillia struck one Noxian with her staff, knocking him out, before she barely ducked to avoid another strike.
Udyr head-butted another soldier, hard, taking him down. Lee Sin jumped and punched the ground hard, the mystical energy sending a few flying.
"Woah shit!" Sara barely dodged a sword swing and gave the Noxian an uppercut.
Irelia spun in a circle, her blades slicing Noxians to ribbons.
Swain calmly stood, watching the battle.
"Fire the cannons." He ordered calmly.
Sara heard something and turned as a cannon was fired. The flaming ball sailed through the air and slammed into the ground.
Any Ionians close by were instantly killed by the explosion, while those far away were thrown off their feet.
"Of course they have cannons." Sara grumbled.
"Bloody hell." Ahri looked up.
"STAND YOUR GROUND!" Irelia roared.
Taking advantage, the Noxian army surged forward. Ben Farron charged, swinging his mace and scattering Noxians here and there.
"Face me, you Ionian cowards!"
Sara punched a Noxian three times in the face and hurled him to the ground.
Seeing Noxians beginning to flank them, Udyr channeled the power of Anivia, and unleashed an icy wind that froze them in their place.
"Feel the wrath of the Freljord!" he roared.
Sara punched a Noxian and then gave a powerful front kick to another, sending him tumbling.
Farron smashed an Ionian into the ground with his mace before charging. Before he could reach Sara, Udyr stepped into his path and punched him really hard, making him stagger back.
"You should have stayed in the Freljord." Farron snarled.
"I stand against all injustices." Udyr declared. He and Farron then charged at each other.
Farron punched but Udyr blocked before punching him back.
Farron punched Udyr again, before Udyr blocked another strike and gave him a powerful uppercut.
Nearby, Lee Sin had moved into a small stream and was fighting multiple Noxians at once.
He spin kicked one hard, before jumping and punching the ground again, this time forming a small crater as all the Noxians were sent flying.
Swain watched the battle from a distance, an unreadable expression on his face.
"What should we do now, Commander?" a soldier asked.
"Fire the giant crossbows." Swain replied calmly.
3 giant bolts came flying through the air and impaled several Ionians, killing them instantly.
Irelia noticed this and glared in rage.
"KILL THEM ALL!"
She began ferociously hacking away at the enemy soldiers. Sara threw a right hook and took one down.
"Sara, are you okay?" Ahri called out from where she was fighting.
"I'm good." Sara replied. Hot pain shot up her leg, but her primal rage was so strong, she ignored it.
Ahri jumped and cannon-balled into a soldier, sending him flying. She flipped and landed, looking around.
Udyr blocked a strike from Farron and grabbing him, threw him to the ground. Despite his enormous size, Farron quickly rolled up and gave Udyr a strong head-butt.
"Is that all?" Udyr mocked, spitting out some blood.
Farron roared in anger and punched again. This time, Udyr caught it and punched Farron extremely hard, sending him crashing to the ground.
"Finally." Farron smirked, getting up.
The two began exchanging blows, though it was clear that Udyr had the upper hand. He punched Farron twice in the chest and once in the face. The armor began denting from the shear force of the blows.
Udyr continued raining blows onto his enemy. Farron staggered back, the ground shaking from the Spirit Walker's attacks.
Nearby, Master Yi sliced a Noxian soldier in a spin motion, and then dove to avoid another cannonball which exploded, killing multiple Ionians.
Lillia struck one Noxian with her staff, knocking him out.
"Ohhhh, sorry." Lillia apologized sheepishly. A Noxian was about to strike her from behind with an ax, but Lee Sin jumped and kicked him hard.
"Come on, little Fawn." He said to Lillia.
A Noxian grabbed him from behind but Lee Sin twisted out of his grip and then punched him really hard, producing a shockwave that threw multiple soldiers back.
Across the entire plain, Noxians and Ionians were now engaged in one-on-one combat.
Ahri blocked a sword strike and kicked the soldier's knee, breaking it as he fell down. Grabbing him, she began draining his life energy.
"Incoming!" Lee Sin shouted. He jumped and punched the ground extremely hard, generating a powerful shockwave.
Udyr punched Farron, his blows echoing like thunder. Farron swung but Udyr ducked and back-handed him extremely hard, causing pieces of face plate armor to fly off.
Lillia struck another with her staff and then raised it to deflect an arrow being fired at her.
Cannonballs struck the ground, killing Noxians and Ionians alike.
Sara spin kicked an incoming soldier, and then threw herself to the ground to avoid an ax being thrown at her head.
'Okay, keep your head calm. Just end this fight.' Sara thought to herself.
She jumped and kicked two Noxians in the head.
Master Yi sliced down a Noxian and then spun around to block another strike.
Sara managed to grab a Noxian and break his neck, while Ahri got another soldier in a head-lock and choked it out.
Irelia jumped onto a boulder to avoid an attack and Lee Sin elbowed another.
"COME ON!" an Ionian soldier roared, covered in blood and staggering. Sara leapt with a roar and smashed her fist into a soldier's face, knocking him out.
"Sara!" Ahri cried out, tossing her a spear. Sara caught it and stabbed a Noxian soldier through the throat, killing him instantly.
Irelia sensed something and turned as Swain moved towards her, a sword in his right hand.
"Come to die?" she growled.
"Not today, little one." Swain replied calmly, unfazed.
She snarled and lunged towards him. Swain blocked at an almost inhuman speed, and then advanced forward.
Irelia managed to deflect most of the strikes, but a reverse-cut slashed her above the eyebrow.
She cried out in pain as blood began pouring down her face. Her head began ringing, and bright flashes of light appeared across her vision.
Swain was about to advance, when Sara leapt in front of him.
"Back off." Sara growled, twirling her spear.
"Ah, Sara Lance. The outworlder." Swain said calmly.
"I assume you had spies in Demacia report about me." Sara guessed, as Darius had said the same thing.
"Yes indeed. You should have stayed in Demacia, little girl." Swain retorted.
"Little girl's about to kick your ass." Sara retorted.
She tried to strike Swain, but he backed to avoid, and then deflected some more of her strikes.
Noticing Sara was avoiding trying to put weight on her right leg, he threw out a sharp kick that landed.
"ARHHHHH!" Sara cried out in agony and limped away, fresh pain shooting up her leg.
Irelia spun and flipped, landing a kick onto Swain's face, and he staggered back.
Swain ducked to avoid another punch before backhanding Irelia in the face and grabbing her head, kneed her in the abdomen before pushing her off and punching her face.
Irelia spin kicked Swain right in the face before deflecting some of his strikes, only for him to smack her face, staggering her back.
Sara took a few deep breaths to calm herself. Getting up, she charged and punched Swain in the face, as some blood spewed from it.
He fought Irelia and Sara back-to-back, deflecting both their strikes. He ducked to avoid Sara's punch and back-handed her.
Irelia kicked and Swain grabbed her foot, pushing her to the ground. He punched Sara three times in the face.
"For an old guy, he's not bad.' Sara thought to himself.
"You have my respects, Sara," Swain said as if he was talking to a co-worker. "You have shown great skill, and you fight for Ionia, despite not being part of the land yourself. But it will not avail you. Noxus will rise."
"Others have said that. They got their asses kicked." Sara retorted.
"I am not like other men." Swain mused. He deflected a kick from Sara and grabbed her in a guillotine chokehold. Sara flipped, wrapping her legs around Swain's neck and flipping him to the ground.
Swain let go and rolled to his feet, wiping some blood.
Nearby, Udyr punched Farron twice in the chest, and then kneed him, making him stagger back.
"I'm going to kill you!" Farron roared in anger.
"Volibear, protect me." Udyr prayed. Lightning burst from his body, sending Farron flying.
Swain blocked another punch while Irelia backed to avoid one from him, then kicked Swain who blocked as well.
Swain then tried to hit in a spin motion as Sara ducked to avoid and Swain tried to kick as Sara blocked before ducking to avoid a spin kick, and tried to kick as Swain blocked.
"Come on, Noxian!" Irelia roared, charging again.
Swain tripped her as she tried to kick, sending her to the ground.
Sara jumped but Swain caught her foot and threw her to the ground as she spat out blood.
Lee Sin spin kicked two soldiers and punched another with Mystical energy, crushing his internal organs.
Ahri's eyes glowed and she slammed her palm onto the ground, producing a shockwave.
Swain punched, but as he did, Irelia swung her blades up, slicing his entire left arm off.
Swain cried out in agony and fell to the ground, blood pumping out of the wound.
Sara staggered towards Irelia, and looked down at Swain.
"And how do you like getting your ass kicked by a little girl, old man." She mocked.
The Noxians had been defeated at this point, and any survivors were retreating back to the ships and the tree-line.
Unseen to all of them, a horned Demon transformed into a crow and flew down.
And the battle is done. Hope the fight at the Placidium was enjoyed.
So another champion has been introduced, and it's Swain aka The Noxian Grand General.
He is my Number 1 faviroute Noxian champion, and his lore is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend reading Swain's lore.
Hope all the battles were enjoyed, as well as Sara, Ahri, Lillia, Lee Sin, Master Yi and Udyr helping out.
Oh, and this isn't the last we've seen of Swain. He will appear 2 more times in the entirety of this story.
As for the last bit with the Demon…well only those truly familiar with the lore will understand what it means.
For those who don't, it will be revealed later on.
Now, since I changed quite a bit of stuff, we only have about 4 or 5 more chapters left in the Ionia/Noxus War arc, and then we will get to a lot more interesting stuff.
