Chapter five: The Nana sitch.
About a week had passed since their last caper and Kim and Jack were on their way to Florida to see Kim's grandmother. They weren't driving his Mazda Rx7 that he had been driving. Instead they were driving his 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, which is what the engine in his Mazda originally came out of. He had swapped in a 5.9 Magnum V8 which had been stroked to a 6.2 and made over 500 horse power. The Jeep it's self had a 3 inch lift and was sitting on 32 inch all terrain's. It also had a snorkel and a light bar. The color was two tone white and black with gold trim and rims to match the leather interior. Behind the Jeep Jack was towing a 20 foot cabin cruiser speed boat.
Kim and Jack were fallowing Kim's parents but Jack had become Impatient long ago with going so slowly and had passed them, leaving them who knows how far behind. "You sure you don't need to fallow mom and dad to get where were going?" Kim asked from the passenger seat as the wind blew threw her long red hair. She was wearing a white crop top with short pink shorts and pink flip flops. "There's signs." Jack said slightly indignantly as he gestured to the sings along the road with his hand. He was wearing a black Hawaiian shirt with sun sets and palm trees on it, which was half unbuttoned, showing off his muscular hair covered chest. His shorts were tan and his flip flops were brown.
"Just checking. So what are we going to do since were going to get there before my mom and dad?" Kim asked. "I figured we go find a slip to put the boat in and then we go meet them somewhere. So what's your grandmother like?" Replied Jack. "She's… Kind of overbearing . "Kim answered. "Well someone has to be. I mean your parents just let their sixteen year old daughter go on missions and fight bad guys." Jack said with amusement. "Hey I'm very responsible and can handle myself thank you." Kim replied indignantly as she put her hands on her hips. Jack chuckled. "Yea, I know Kim." He said as he shot her a trusting glance.
"So you ever been to Florida?" Asked Kim. "A few times. It's beautiful country. I'd like to live here someday." Jack replied "So why Colorado instead of here?" Kim asked. "Weed, weed, weed!" Jack said in a funny high pitch voice. "Very funny. I never even seen you smoke weed. All you smoke is those big cigars." Kim said pointing to a half full ashtray with a half smoked cigar hanging out the side of it. "How do you know what's in those cigars?" Jack questioned as he glanced over at Kim. "I know what weed smells like Jack." Kim answered. "Ut, oh Kim smokes weed!" Jack teased "I do not!" Replied Kim. "Don't worry Kim, I won't tell." Jack said as he glanced at her with a crooked grin. "I don't smoke weed!" Kim protested.
About an hour later they found a slip to place the boat in not too far from nana Possible's apartment. Once done they went to go meet Kim's parents at the apartment complex. Kim got out the Jeep and went to help her parents unpack while Jack got out and lit a cigar. As he smoked it and admired the beauty of his surroundings he saw many beautiful women in bikinis but none of them seemed to interest him. It was than he felt that familiar presence. It wasn't coming from nearby, he didn't know where it was coming from. All he knew was he felt it. "She's here…" Jack said quietly to himself with just a hint of alarm.
"Hey Jack could you come help me with this?" Hearing James call him Jack was snapped from his thoughts and put his cigar out, then went to go help him. "You didn't tell me you were moving here." Jack joked as he grabbed two large suitcases out of the back of their burgundy Toyota minivan. "Oh you know. The misses likes to take the kitchen sink with us." James joked back.
As Jack and James were headed in they saw Kim coming out with her grandmother. "Oh Kimberly is this your boyfriend?" Asked nana Possible as she looked Jack over. "What? Nana, no. He's not my type." Kim said waving a dismissive hand. "Too bad. If I were a bit younger I'd date him myself." Said nana Possible as she got closer to Jack. "Um… Thank you?" Said Jack a bit uncomfortably. "Mother!" Exclaimed James in shock. "Oh my I was only teasing dear." Said nana Possible before going back inside. Kim than went to the van and grabbed two more bags before going back inside herself. "Um… Sorry about that." Apologized James. "It's ok, I get that all the time. …Sort of." Replied Jack.
When Jack went inside he saw that Ann was in the kitchen, the twins were in the living room looking at some old records, and Kim and her grandmother were in one of the bedrooms with her grandmother lecturing her about going on missions. Jack decided it was none of his business. He didn't expect Kim to listen to her anyway.
"You can just put those down right there. I'll get to them in a moment." Said Ann as she pointed to a space on the floor at the end of the counter. Jack and James did as such and placed the bags on the floor were they were told. Jack took another look around before going back outside. Seeing this Ann and James just sort of shrugged at each other before James went outside to see what was bothering him. James found him on the sidewalk near the edge of the road and walked over to him. "Hey Jack, everything alright?" Asked a concerned sounding James. "Call it a feeling…" Jack said almost emotionlessly as he smoked his cigar and watched the people go by.
Meanwhile Shego sat behind the wheel of an ice cream truck, bored out of her mind with Drakken's new plan as he muttered something about how great it was. "Stupid Drakken, stupid plan, stupid dorky ice cream uniform! I should be out there sunbathing instead of behind the wheel of this stupid ice cream van." Shego thought to herself as she tried not to die of boredom. It was than she got a strange feeling. "He's here…" Shego said quietly to himself as Drakken continued to mutter about his stupid plan.
Not too long after Jack and Kim were driving around town because Wade had called and said he had picked up some strange radio waves or something and he wanted them to go check it out. Jack knew this had to do with Shego and Drakken but he wasn't about to tell Kim could just feel Shego's presence whenever she was near.
"Hmm. The signal is weak, I can't tell where it's coming from. Maybe if I get out on foot." Kim mused out loud as she was trying to track the signal on her Kimmunicator. "You do that Kim." Jack said as he pulled to the side of the road and let her out. As Jack sat there trying to relax and smoke his cigar a young woman appearing to be in her early 20's came up to the Jeep's open window. She was tanned with long brown hair that was in a ponytail, blue eyes and she wore a tight fitting blue bikini that showed off her impressive curves. "Hey handsome. What you doing later." The girl said in a lustful and sultry voice.
"Sorry but I'll be busy later." Jack replied smoothly, not wanting to be bothered. He knew that he was going to be seeing Shego very soon and even if he wasn't he wasn't about to ditch Kim to hang out with some bimbo. "Doing what?" She tried again in the same tone. "None of your business now get!" Jack said becoming quite irritated with the girl. "Jerk!" The girl yelled as she tried to smash Jack's cigar in his face but he caught her wrist between his thumb and index finger. Squeezing on the pressure point her hand immediately went limp. "Unless you wanna lose your hand. I wouldn't do that again." Jack said cold as ice as he looked into her eyes with a glare that warned of impending death. The girl began to tremble as tears of fear began to stream down her cheeks. Jack let her go and she ran off crying.
"Stupid girls. Can't they see I have someone else on my mind?" Jack mused to himself with a small chuckle before taking another puff of his cigar. Not long after Kim came back and got in again. "No luck?" He asked. "None." Kim replied as Jack started driving. He could tell what they were looking for was nearby. He could feel Shego's presence quite strongly now. Just than the Kimmunicator got a lock on the signal. "There, that ice cream truck!" Kim said pointing to it just up ahead.
Shego saw a black and white off road SUV in her rear view. She couldn't see the driver or the passenger due to the glare on the windshield but considering how strongly she could feel Jack's presence she knew it must be him. On instinct she floored it and the ice cream truck lurched forward, taking off as fast as it could. "Shego what are you doing!? I was about to make a sale!" Yelled Dr. Drakken. "It's Kim Possible and her hunky sidekick!" Shego shot back with a slip of the tongue. "Her what?" Drakken questioned, not sure of what she said. "Her dopy sidekick!" Shego corrected, hoping Drakken didn't hear her the first time. "Faster Shego their gaining!" Drakken yelled in fear.
The heavy ice cream truck was not match for the Jeep's 500 horses. Jack shifted down into 2nd and floored it. The engine roared as the RPMS quickly shot up to 7 thousand, throwing Kim and Jack back into their seats hard. The ice cream truck took a sharp let turn bit it was no match for the Jeep in the corners either. The ice cream truck tried another sharp turn, almost flipping over this time. Within seconds of the turn the Jeep was inches from the truck's bumper.
Jack rammed the ice cream truck and then dropped back, making the large truck swerve wildly but Shego managed to hold it. He rammed it again, a bit harder this time, almost making Shego lose control but she managed to hold it. "Ahh! Shego do something!" Shouted a fearful Dr. Drakken. I'm trying!" Shego yelled threw gritted teeth as she wrestled with the wheel. This was so exciting for her! A real car chase, and he was ramming her. "Ok shego get your head out of the gutter ." She told herself.
Jack was about to ram her again but in a panic Drakken started throwing boxes of ice cream out the window. Jack swerved around most of them but one hit the windshield, obscuring his view. He slammed on the brakes and the box flew off. He floored it again, running over the box of ice cream as the engine roared again. Shego had managed to get pretty far ahead but within seconds Jack halved the gap between them. It was than Drakken threw another box of ice cream out the window and a large group of kids swarmed it as it hit the ground. Jack slammed on the brakes and swerved out the way, coming to a stop as the Jeep crashed into a hotdog cart, people just barely managing to scramble out the way in time.
Jack looked and saw that the ice cream truck was no longer anywhere in sight. He then looked over at Kim and saw that she was trembling as she held onto the grab handle above her head for dear life. "Really Kim? You can jump out of a perfectly good airplane but you can't handle a little high speed driving?" Jack criticized. "You're not driving the plane!" Kim shot back.
"You know you could have killed those kids." Said a very displeased Shego. "Correction, they could have killed those kids." Drakken said proudly. Shego growled to herself as she griped the steering wheel tightly, enough so to leave indentions where her fingers were. She may have been "evil" but she wasn't a killer. Specially not kids.
After Jack paid for the damages to the hotdog cart him and Kim went back to Nana's apartment and they all went out to dinner to the long horn steak house. During dinner Kim sat next to Jack which was expected by most without it being strange. "Kimberly are you sure this fine young man isn't your boyfriend?" Asked nana Possible. "Yes nana I'm sure." Said a slightly annoyed Kim. James just shot his mother a bit of a glare which she ignored. "Well it just seems to me a bit odd. You two have been side by side pretty much the entire time you been here." Replied nana. "I can assure you ma'am I'm after someone else." Said Jack, cutting in. "Oh that's sweet. What's her name?" Asked Ann. "Well I don't really know her name." Jack replied honestly. "Excuse me for saying this but isn't that a bit stalkerish?" Questioned Ann. Jack chuckled. "I can assure you it's not like that." He told Ann. Kim just shot him a look that said; "What are you talking about?" Jack leaned in and whispered in Kim's ear. "Shego will be mine." He told her jokingly. "Eww gross! I so did not need that picture in my head." Exclaimed Kim as she stuck her tongue out with a face of disgust. Jack laughed as everyone at the table stared at them.
After dinner they went back to Nana's apartment. Nana went to bed while everyone else played Monopoly. About twenty minutes into the game nana walked into the room holding a tray of lemon squares. Jack noticed the dead look in her eyes as she said; "I'm going out for some air." In an emotionless robotic voice. "Ok mom." Replied James, clearly too into the game to notice. And it appeared that no one else noticed either. "Kim." Jack called in a hushed voice. As Kim looked up at him he nodded to the front door where nana had just gone out and they both stood up." Is something wrong?" Asked Ann.
"I guess were going to find out." Said Kim as she looked at Jack. He just nodded and they both walked out the door. They trailed nana Possible to a shack way out in the everglades. "Watch out you might see a skunk ape out here." Jack warned. "What's a skunk ape?" Asked a very confused Kim. "Oh man you never heard of the skunk ape?" Jack asked with an amused smile. Kim just shook her head. "It's Florida's version of the big foot. They live out here in the everglades you know?" Jack said, doing his best to keep a straight face. "Jack this is serious!" Kim snapped. "Alright, alright." Jack said laughing. "What I want to know is what nana is doing out here." Said a serious Kim.
Jack could feel Shego's presence quite strongly again and knew she must be inside, and that meant Drakken. "I'm not sure Kim but I got a feeling it has to do with whatever Drakken was doing earlier." Replied Jack. "Hold on. Are you suggesting that my nana is working for Drakken?" Asked a shocked Kim. "Not at all." Jack said as he shook his head. "But I have no answer as to what she's doing here." Jack continued.
As they parked the Jeep behind a large cypress tree and were about to get out they saw a whole heard of elderly people walk passed them. "What the…?" Asked an astounded Kim. "I don't know, but something tells me this isn't just about your nana. Come on." Jack said before getting out the Jeep and Kim fallowed suit. They watched as the door to the shack opened and all the old people went inside.
Jack and Kim snuck to just outside the door and peeked in. Inside was Drakken and Shego just as expected, standing on a platform in front of all the elderly people. "I think you missed your target by about fifty years doc." Shego said laughing as she made eye contact with Jack. Looking into her eyes somehow he knew that she had been expecting him but she didn't do anything. Not yet anyways. "Can she feel my presence too?" Jack wondered to himself. Kim hadn't noticed them make eye contact, she was too busy looking around. "But if I'm not tapped into the mp3 frequency, than what am I tapped into?" Asked a frantic Dr. Drakken as he fiddled with some machinery. Well it looked like it was time to make an entrance. It was now or never.
"Tap deez nuts!" Yelled Jack as he sprang into the room, pointing a finger at the mad doctor as Kim jumped in behind him. Shego than ignited her hands and jumped over the crowd of elderly people with a flip to land about five feet in front of Jack. "I'm game." She said with sarcastic glee. As their eyes met again there was that strange connection and they felt like they were the only two people in the world. Kim had noticed the odd way they were looking at each other but figured that they must just really hate each other.
"Please be gentle." Jack said as he made the sweetest and most innocent face he could.. "Sorry, I don't do gentle." Shego said with a smirk as she shook her head. In truth it took all her strength not to burst out laughing. She than leapt forward, slashing at jack with clawed hands but he blocked and kicked her in the shin, causing her to grab her leg for a moment. Jack used this moment to sweep her other leg out from under her and she fell on her back.
"Attack!" Drakken yelled as he pointed at kim. Kim had been watching the fight between Jack and Shego when Drakken called the attack. As the army of elderly people conversed on kim she leapt over them and onto the platform where Drakken was standing. In the commotion Jack reached out his hand and helped Shego up. She was confused but looking into his eyes she knew somehow that it wasn't a trick. He pulled her out the door and they ran somewhere deep into the everglades.
Kim smashed Drakken's control panel with a metal pipe she found leaning against the wall than used it on him. "Not the face!" Drakken yelled as he covered his face. Kim hit him in the stomach than when he bent over she hit him in the back of the head, knocking him out cold. Kim than looked to see Drakken's control over the elderly people was gone but that Jack and Shego were nowhere to be found. Kim quickly tied Drakken up with some rope that was laying on a nearby crate than went to her nana. "How did I get here?" Asked a confused nana Possible "Don't worry about it nana, let's go home." Kim told her grandmother.
Stepping outside Kim saw that Jack and Shego were still nowhere to be found. "She must have made a run for it." Kim thought. She needed to get her nana home and find a phone to call the police. Not knowing when Jack would be back Kim decided to take the ice cream truck, which lucky for her still had the keys sitting on the dash. Taking the keys and putting them in the ignition Kim than noticed the indentions in the steering wheel "Wow, Shego must of really been fighting for control when we rammed her earlier!" Kim said before starting the engine and driving off with her grandmother.
