I don't own Kim Possible. I often reference people, places, and things. I don't own them either.

Chapter six: Waves and woes.

Jack lead Shego into a large clearing and let go of her hand, than turned to face her with a fighting stance. "This is a good spot. No one will bother us here." Jack told her. "Aww… and here I thought we were going to run away together." Shego said sarcasticly as she faked disappointment. Looking at him she noticed his nice clothes as she ignited her hands. She also noticed his shirt was partly open and she saw his muscular hair covered chest which caused a slight green blush to rise on her cheeks, but not enough to be visible in the moonlight.

"You look nice." She said as she admired him. "What are we on a date or something?" Jack questioned sarcasticly. "Well I guess we better have one of those before we run away together huh?" Shego joked. She knew she shouldn't be flirting with him but she couldn't help it, also didn't feel wrong for some reason. Jack was a bit shocked by her behavior and wondered if he was having the same effect on her that she was having on him. Yea tons of girls thought he was hot and wanted him, but none of them could hold a candle to her in his book. Anyways, he couldn't think of that now.

"So we going to get this started? Or should we go take warm showers to the wee hours of the morning?" Jack questioned in a thundering voice that echoed through the trees. Shego smirked as she readied herself. "When I said I wanted to see what you got I meant this. Not that you perv." She said in her usual snarky tone. "So don't hold back." She said in a more serious tone. "I don't need to put in much effort to beat you." Jack mocked with a smirk. "Besides, I'd hate to damage such a pretty face." He taunted again, this time in a much more alluring and sensual tone of voice.

This enraged Shego! She roared out like some sort of monster as she shot a ball of green fire at jack. He saw it coming and easily stepped out the way as it hit a large tree behind him, knocking it down. As the fireball went passed him Jack observed that it wasn't like regular fire. Somehow it didn't radiate any heat. Jack turned his focus back to Shego as she took a swipe at his face with her firey clawed hands but he side stepped and caught her wrist and did a palm strike to her shoulder which knocked her to the ground. "Your anger makes you weak!" Jack thundered in the voice of a drill sergeant.

Shego got up and lunged for his throat as she roared louder but Jack side stepped again and kneed her in the stomach than grabbed her by her raven hair and pulled her back, throwing her in the dirt. "You can't control yourself when you're angry. You just lash out wildly with anger and hate without any focus." Jack lectured. "Shut up I'm not weak!" Shego roared again as she got up and began slashing wildly at him in any way she could but he just dodged every attack with ease. "If your apponent can control you like a puppet with just a ward than how can you expect to bet them?" Questioned Jack.

He was right. It was a tactic she often used herself but it seemed to have no effect on Jack. And now he was using that tactic against her. Jack caught her wrist again and punched her in the chest just above her breasts, sending her flying back and skidding across the wet dirt. Shego just laid there as her hands went out, staring up at the stars and the tree tops. Maybe he was right. Maybe she was weak. She had indeed lost control and even tried to kill him by slashing at his throat. She knew that she didn't want to kill anybody. That wasn't like her. But was he offering to train her? She wondered. She got the feeling he wasn't just trying to taunt her, even tho that's what her pride told her it was.

Jack offered her his hand as he stood above, looking down at her. Shego just stared at his hand for a few moments with a scowl before swallowing her pride and deciding to accept his offer. She took his hand and he helped her up. After getting up they both stood tall as they looked at each other. "Why are you helping me?" Shego asked seriously with a bit of a scowl still on her face. "Because you got too much potential to waste." Jack replied earnestly as he looked into her eyes. "But I'm your enemy!" Shego shot back.

"Are you?" Jack asked, slowly blinking his eyes a few times. "Cuz we sure haven't been acting like it." He continued. Shego gritted her teeth as she looked away. She knew that he was right in some way. "Yea your bad. If you wanna call yourself evil, than whatever. Your still a person. And I have nothing against you." Shego was shocked by Jack's wards. He saw her as a person? Not some freak or monster? Shego stood looking at him slack jawed before managing to form a reply.

"But you don't know what I've done!" Shego protested. She didn't know why she did. Maybe it was some form of guilt, or just disbelief. "I know you have never killed anyone. I can see that in your eyes." Jack said as he moved closer to her. Shego moved back slightly as her face turned to shock. Her eyes? She knew they had some strange connection but how could he just read her like an open book?

"I don't really care what you have done Shego. But I'm sure that it's no worse than what the average person you see walking down the street has done. We are all sinners and wicked by nature. Myself included." Jack continued. Shego's eyes nearly popped out of her head as she took another step back. He couldn't be saying what she thought he was saying. He couldn't be just accepting her, she couldn't believe that. "N-no… I don't believe that." Shego said in utter disbelief. Jack tried taking another step towards her but stopped when he saw her face begin to twist in rage. "You're lying! You're just trying to use me! You don't care about me!" Shego yelled at him as she ignited her hands once again.

Jack just frowned as he looked at her, seeing the pain in her eyes. "I can understand how you might think that. I too have felt the pain of betrayal and being alone. I can't make you trust me, that's your choice. But if you ever decide you want a friend, I'm sure you can figure out how to find me." Jack told her in painful understanding. Shego extinguished her hands and looked at him blankly. She still didn't want to believe him but she could tell by the look in his eyes that her words hurt him and he wasn't lying, even if she still wasn't ready to accept that.

Shego didn't know how to deal with this. She wasn't just going to throw herself into his arms, even if some small part of her wanted to. She wanted to believe that what he was saying was true. That someone really could just accept her without judgement. But she just couldn't. "I'm sorry, but I just can't trust you." Shego said as normally as she could before she turned and ran away.

Jack watched her disappear into the dark woods as he clenched his jaw. He then let out a long sigh before looking down and tightly gripping the hair on the back of his head. He took one last look in the direction that Shego had ran and knew that she was long gone. Jack than went back to the shack and saw that the police had arrived and were taking Drakkin away. He looked and saw that Kim was nowhere around so he decided to go back to his boat. It was around midnight anyways.

Getting out his Jeep Jack walked down the dock to his boat and climbed onboard. Going into the cabin he pulled a bottle of whisky and a glass from out one of the kitchen cabinets . Once he poured himself a drink he sat down on the couch and began drinking. "Why do I even care about that stupid woman?" He asked out loud before downing his drink. He then frowned as he looked at his empty glass. "Because she's hurting, that's why." He said answering his own question. Even now he could feel the pain in her heart tho she was far away. Jack than looked at the bottle in his left hand and began to down it.

The next morning Jack awoke and went to go join the Possible's for breakfast at the Ihop. They could see his blood shot eyes as he downed cup after cup of strong coffee. "A bit hung over this morning Jack?" Asked James as he poured syrup on his pancakes. "Yea, I decided to do a little drinking last night." Replied Jack. Kim just shot him a worried look from her seat on his left. "Oh, and why is that?" Questioned Ann as she ate her breakfast. "I have my reasons." Jack said as respectfully as he could before drinking more of his coffee.

After breakfast Jack went back to his boat and took it out on the water. He spent the whole day out on the water as he tried to keep his mind off Shego. But he was unable to do a very good job of that. He caught some fish for dinner and then wound up taking a nap to sleep off the rest of his hangover. It wasn't till around midnight that he arrived back at port.

Looking out at the moon lit water from the edge of the dock he lit up a cigar as his mind drifted off to last night as he thought about Shego and their conversation. As he thought about her his heart ached. Connected or not he couldn't help caring about her. He cared about everyone, even if he didn't at like it most the time. Being so deep in thought he must have missed the feeling but he heard the sound of footsteps coming up the dock behind him and when he turned… There she was.

She was wearing a short dark green strapless dress with black flats and a warm smile he had never seen before. "Hello Jack." She said warmly as she walked up to him, only stopping about two feet away. Seeing her standing there Jack dropped his cigar and it fell into the water as he stood staring slack jawed and at a total loss for wards. Shego chuckled. "You like what you see?" She asked teasingly in a slightly husky voice. Jack's head just twitched a little as he sounded like he was trying to form wards but nothing was coming out. "Oh come on. You told me to come find you." Shego said as she tried again to get a response out of him. "I um, yea… But I wasn't expecting you so soon. I didn't even feel you coming." Jack finally said as he tried not to stumble over his wards. He cursed internally, he felt he shouldn't have let it slip that he could sense when she was around.

"That's what she said." Shego said stifling a laugh. "So you can feel it too?" Shego asked as she looked deeply into his eyes. "I, uh… Yea…" Jack said. He was slightly alarmed but also relieved that she could feel it too. "Can I come in?" Shego asked sweetly. "um, yea." Jack said still trying to come to terms with the situation before leading her onto the boat.

Stepping into the cabin Shego noticed the empty whisky bottle on the couch and frowned. Somehow she couldn't help but feel responsible for that. "I'm sorry about last night…" She said meekly as she looked at the floor, holding her hands together in front of her. "It's alright. So you want a drink?" Jack asked turning to look at her as he reached up into one of the kitchen cabinets. "Sure I'll take a drink." Shego replied as she looked at him, now standing normally. Jack pulled out a bottle of Jack Daniel's whisky along with two glasses and placed them on the counter.

"So Jack drinks Jack." Shego joked. "Sometimes. I also like trying different brands. I prefer Johnnie walker black label but that's all gone." Jack said as he poured their drinks. "I see." Shego said looking at the empty bottle on the couch before walking over to him and taking a glass. "So what made you take me up on my offer?" Jack asked as he took a drink. "I didn't want to believe you at first, but I knew you weren't lying by the look in your eyes. And somehow I could feel it to… I just have really bad people skills. So I ran away." Shego said before taking a bigger drink than Jack.

"I understand. I use to have bad people skills myself." Jack said as he lead her onto the back deck and took a seat at the table. "That's great and all but I still don't understand why you're accepting me." Shego said as she took s seat across from him. "Hmm, maybe you have a little crush." Shego teased as she looked him over with a devious smile. Jack saw her looking at his ripped body threw his open shirt and blinked at her. "I think you're the one with the crush. And that's ok, but I can assure you that I take time to build a solid friendship before moving to anything more." Jack said before taking a drink.

"Aww your no fun." Shego teased as she faked disappointment. Shego than frowned and looked down at her glass. "So how we going to make this work? I mean I'm an internationally wanted super villain. Were enemies." Shego said nervously as she played with her glass. Jack blinked a few times as he looked at her. "I don't particularly care about the rules set by men. Give to Caesar those that which is Caesars and give to God those that witch is God's." Jack said quoting Mark 12:17 from the bible.

"And what is that suppose too mean?" Shego asked confused as she looked up from her glass. "In short it means this world can have its rules and it's wealth but I will do what I believe is right. Now the way I see it us being enemies is just business." Jack replied. "You mean like an act?" Shego half joked. "Call it what you will." Siad Jack before taking a drink and then so did Shego. "And what if the princess finds out? Or the brainless wonder?" Shego questioned. "Kim and Drakken? If Kim finds out she will lose it and think that I have lost my mind. But I don't really care what she thinks. Either way I am a grown man and will deal with the consequences. As for Drakkin… That's for you to deal with." Jack replied as he finished his drink and poured another.

Shego also finished her dink and put her glass out, asking for more. "Well I'm glad you will take responsibility if something happens." Shego teased as she watched him fill her glass. "Hey no kids till after were married." Jack teased back and they both laughed. "So you don't care what Kim thinks? I thought she was your friend too." Shego asked just a bit confused. "Don't get me wrong, I love Kim with all my heart and for all intents and purposes she is my sister. But she's just that, my little sister. Not my equal. You, you are my equal." He told her honestly.

Shego looked shocked, but that seemed to be normal when dealing with Jack. Not something many could accomplish. "I find that very hard to believe. Friends or not were on different sides. And as much as it pains me to admit it, you can easily kick my ass. A feat no one else has ever accomplished by the way." Jack was slightly annoyed by her skepticism. It seemed kind of stupid to him but he tried to get where she was coming from. Maybe she felt inadequate after finally being defeated. Or maybe it has something to do with past betrayals? Jack decided it didn't matter and that it be best to put it to rest.

Jack looked deeply into her eyes with a firm piercing gaze. Shego had to admit it was kind of intimidating but she wasn't going to back down even if he could beat her in a fight. "Do you respect me?" Jack finally asked. "Yes…?" Shego said, unsure of where he was going with this. "And I respect you. That makes us equals. And before you ask why I respect you, let's just say I've never met anyone like you. And I believe my wards will explain themselves as our friendship grows.

Shego smirked. "well if your so determined to be my friend than who am I to stop you?" Shego said before downing her drink. "But be warned, it won't be easy." Shego continued. "I never expected it to be." He said watching her before downing his drink as well. In truth he didn't know what she meant by that. He assumed it had something to do with her bad temper or the fact that they were on apposing sides. But he really didn't care. He made his choice and he wasn't going to just abandon her, no matter the cost. And he would deal with the consequences no matter what they were.

Shego picked up the bottle and poured another drink than handed the bottle to Jack and he poured another drink as well. The bottle was almost empty now. Jack watched as Shego took a drink than he turned his attention to the tattoo on her chest just above her right breast. It was a large intricate rose tattoo. "Is that your only tattoo?" Jack asked. "I also have angle wings on my back." Shego said after putting her drink down. "Nice." Replied Jack. "You have any?" Shego asked.

Jack stood up than took off his shirt and turned around. On his back was a large tattoo of a cross on a hill with the shining down on it through the clouds and two large silver banners across the top and the bottom of the picture. On the top banner it said; "All Hail" and on the bottom banner it said; "The King." Below that were bible verses; John 3:16 and Proverbs 6:18. Shego knew what a cross was but she but she didn't know the meaning, she had never even picked up a bible let alone read one. And she surly did't know what the verses were.

"What do the verses mean?" Shego had a feeling she would regret asking, fearing that he was going to get all preachy on her and tell her what a horrible person she was. "John 3:16, for god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have ever lasting life. And proverbs 6:18, A heart that devises wicked imagination and feet that rush into evil. I love this one because it reminds me that I too am evil and am no better than anyone else." Jack told her.

To Shego's surprise he didn't start preaching at her or tell her what a bad person she was. Instead he was telling her that he was like her. Shego found this very hard to believe but as she had discovered he was full of surprises. He then turned to show her a tattoo on his right bicep. It was a picture of a sword with two silver arrows crossing diagonally threw it with a black banner going around it. On the banner it said "DE OPRESSO LIBER." "To free those oppressed." Shego said as she read it and translated it to English.

"So you know some latten." Jack observed as he put his shirt back on and sat back down. "I majored in latten. I have two degrees. One in child development, and one in phycology." Shego said before drinking the rest of her drink. "A degree in phycology and you still can't figure me out." Jack stated in observation before downing the rest of his drink. Neither poured another drink. There wasn't enough left for it to be worth it.

"So what happened with that?" Questioned Jack. "Pht. You see what happened with that. I gave it up to help a mad man take over the world." Shego replied with just the tiniest bit of sarcasm. "Alright. I see you're not ready to give me any details, fair enough." Jack replied in acceptance. He knew she would tell him when she was ready. Shego simply nodded. "And what about you? How did you become some hot shot green beret?" Shego asked, mirroring him as she slid back into her seat and crossed her legs in a relaxed manner.

"I joined the military because I was running. Parents were alcoholics, had no friends, grades sucked. But none of that matters if you're willing to kill or be killed. Didn't really think about the killing at the time And if I died… Then I wouldn't have to worry about the pain of being an outcast anymore. So I joined up. Figured if I was in it I was in it to be the best. So I trained every free second I had. Then I tried out for the green berets, and I was picked to be one of them. I joined at the age of 17, became a green beret at 20 where I spent 5 years with them before being declared unfit to serve from a few gunshot wounds to my legs, left shoulder, and stomach. I'm 26 now. And there you have it. The just of my whole life." Jack said finishing his story.

Jack's story made her cringe ever so slightly, but more on the inside than the outside. "I'm 25." Shego said as she got up and turned to leave. "Thanks for the drink. I'll be seeing you around Jack." She continued as she began to walk away. "You know you don't have to go. You can always stay the night." Jack told her. Shego was about to step off the boat but hearing his wards she turned back around.

"I thought you said no kids till after were married." Shego joked with a half drunken smile. "No no, nothing like that. You can take the bedroom and I'll take the couch. It's just that I would never turn away a friend with nowhere to go. You know, since the police have already raided your lair. And besides you been drinking. So what do you say?" Jack replied. Shego just looked at him for a moment before smiling and walking over to him. "Aww Jacky that's so cute of you, worrying about your crush like that." She said pinching his right cheek. Jack simply swatted her hand away. "Yea whatever. Your my friend and I'm extremely loyal to my friends, that's all." Jack said in slight irritation. "So you're not worried princess will show up?" Shego asked. "She won't, besides I decide who I call my friend and no one else gets a say." Jack said as he stood up.

Shego than smiled warmly at him and kissed the cheek she had just pinched. "Thanks Jack." Shego said softly in his ear before heading inside and finding the bedroom. Jack grabbed the two glasses and the bottle off the table. Heading inside he placed the glasses in the sink and the bottle in the trash before laying down on the couch. As Jack looked up at the ceiling he couldn't help but think that if she had been anyone else he wouldn't of even given her the time of day, let alone call her a friend or let her stay the night. But Jack knew Shego wasn't just some other girl. She was the type of girl that could get a man kicked out the garden of Eden. Putting the thought from his mind he quickly fell asleep.

In the bedroom Shego had taken off her shoes and her dress which left her in just her lacy black thong and bra. Climbing into the twin bed Shego quickly curled up under the covers. She had to admit this felt more like home than anything did in a long time. Furthermore she felt safe, so much so she didn't bother locking the door, which was something she always did. As she laied in bed the gentle rocking of the waves against the boat quickly put her to sleep as she fell asleep with a huge smile on her face.
