I don't own Kim Possible often reference people, places, and things. I don't own them either. I only own my OC's Jack and Reginald Giri.

Author note: Regarding comments; I was planning on explaining how Kim and Jack met in a few lines of dialogue between Jack and Shego where she asks how they met and he explains it to her. I still plan on doing that. However, this story does loosely fallow the original episodes and movies. I wasn't planning on adding a sitch in time since for all intents and purposes it never actually happened, but if you all want I may add it to give a visual representation to how Kim and Jack met since that's how we found out how Kim and Ron met in the original story. Also I am not planning on giving Jack Monkey power. I feel that would make him too OP considering he can easily beat Shego. Which I hope doesn't seem too unrealistic at this point. I will explain how he can beat her better when he starts training her.

Chapter eight: The heart of present's past.

The next morning Shego awoke feeling refreshed and energized. "ok, that was the best sleep I ever had." She thought as she sat up in bed stretching. Shego got up and headed for downstairs. As she opened the door her nose was assaulted by the smell of fresh pancakes, eggs, and bacon. "Can't wait to get more of that good cooking." She thought as her mouth watered.

Heading downstairs she was met with the sight of Jack cooking with no shirt on, and she had to admit, she liked what she saw. He was wearing the same pants from the night before, but only the pants. "Good morning." Jack said as he turned to look at her. "You trying to impress me? Cuz it might be working." Shego joked as she looked at him with crossed arms and shifting her weight onto one hip.

Jack looked at himself. "Oh this? Well I didn't have a change of clothes since you were in the bedroom. I'll go change real quick." Jack said before turning to go upstairs but Shego stopped him by placing her hands on his chest. "No it's fine." She said. Jack blushed slightly at her touch as he looked away for a moment than back at her as she lowered her hands. "Well I'm glad you're wearing clothes today." Jack joked with a smile. "Yea couldn't have you dying from a nose bleed." Shego joked back dryly. "I think that looks better on you anyways." Jack said with a laugh as he went back to cooking.

Shego blushed slightly. "Ok he must be a saint if he really thinks I look better in pajama pants and a tee shirt." Shego though as she went to sit at the kitchen table. "You really think I look better in a tee shirt, pajama pants, and matted hair?" Shego asked suspiciously with crossed arms. "What can I say, I'm a weirdo." Jack said as he turned to look at her. "Be cuter if you drooled and snored in your sleep" He continued as he went back to cooking. "Your insane!" Shego shouted as she cringed with a wild blush. She was sure she had done just that.

Jack just laughed at her as he brought her a stack of pancakes, eggs, and bacon. Stepping away he then came back with the coffee. "Thanks." Shego said warmly as she began to eat. Jack went to the stove than came back with his food and coffee and they ate in comfortable silence as they occasionally stole glances at each other which neither of them bothered to think about.

After breakfast Jack was washing dishes while Shego sat at the table watching him. "So you going to start training me now?" Shego asked. Jack shook his head. "Sorry, I'd love to but I promised to chaperone one of Kim's school trips. "A school trip on a Saturday?" Shego asked with surprise. "It's a strange school." Jack replied, glancing at her before going back to the dishes. Shego frowned. "Oh well. Guess I better go see if Dr. D has any new schemes planned." Shego said disappointedly. "On a Saturday?" Questioned jack. "He's a strange man." Shego replied and they both laughed.

"Come by tonight and I promise we will start." Jack said with a smile. Shego looked into his eyes and knew that he meant it. "I will." Shego said with a nod before getting up and going upstairs. After a few minutes Shego came back downstairs wearing the disguise from the night before.

"Well I best be going than. I left the clothes I was wearing on the bed. I'll see you tonight." Shego said finishing with a smile. Jack dried his hands and walked her out. "See you tonight." Jack said as he stood in the doorway watching her leave. Shego waved at him as she made her way back to her hover car. This was the happiest she remembered ever being, she was so happy to have a friend in her life. She just hoped it would last.

Jack watched as she disappeared into the invisible hover car before he went back inside. Jack went upstairs to the bathroom that was attached to the bedroom and got in the shower. After the shower he got changed into a coral colored dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up his forearms, light colored blue jeans, white and back Adidas. He wore his gold and back cross around his neck and a custom gold Rolex that had the Green Beret insignia on the carbon fiber clock face, on his right wrist. After getting dressed Jack put their old clothes in the washer. He then looked at his watch and saw that he was going to be late if he didn't hurry up. Rushing downstairs Jack grabbed his keys from the kitchen counter and rushed off to see Kim.

15 minutes later Jack pulled into Kim's driveway and saw that she was sitting on the front step, waiting on him. She was wearing tight fitting jeans with a light brown v neck tee shirt and black Nike Air Force 1's. "Running a bit late don't you think?" Kim asked as she got in and buckled up. "Sorry, lost track of time." Jack stated plainly. Kim than began to sniff the air as he backed out the driveway. "Jack did you go on a date?" Kim asked slyly. Jack cocked an eyebrow at her. "What on earth would make you ask that?" He questioned.

"Your car smells of woman's perfume. So you must have had a woman in here." Kim stated slyly. Jack took a sniff of the air and he couldn't smell anything, and his senses were honed to be better than that of normal humans. "How can she smell that?" He thought. "Or maybe your cross dressing on me." Kim joked slyly. "Um… May do." Jack said trying to be sarcastic but sounded a little off guard. "Oh come on, what's her name?" Kim asked. "It was Shego Kim" Jack said in a joking tone so smoothly as to make her not believe him.

"Eww gross! Hurl factor reaching critical here. I know she's kinda your Carmen Sandiego but don't even joke about stuff like that!" Kim exclaimed in disgust as she stuck her tongue out. Jack just chuckled.

At the Middleton museum Jack walked alongside Kim as they fallowed the group of high school students. "100 years ago the world came to Middleton. The fair introduced new techno wonders like the ferris wheel , phonographic sound, even ice cream and hamburgers. And that's all peachy swell but for the next 90 minutes I'm going to focus on obscure names, dates, and statistics." Said Barken as the group all groaned. "Man, what a jackass." Though Jack.

Jack and Kim continued to fallow the group till Barkin came to a stop at a picture of a man who looked like him with a big mustache that went into his sideburns. "Note the family resemblance. My own great grand pap was the chief of police back at the big expo." Barkin told the class. At this point Jack was feeling quite bored. It wasn't that he didn't like history, he just didn't care about Barkin's pride in his family lineage.

Kim had also become bored and went to look at something else behind them. "Hey Jack look at this!" Said Kim. Jack turned to see a picture in a glass case. In the picture was a man who looked like him with a much longer beard and a huge handlebar mustache. Beside him stood a woman who looked like an older version of Kim with her hair in a bun. They appeared to be standing in front of a ferris wheel. "They look like us." Said Kim. "Why am I getting Back To The Future vibes here?" Jack asked openly.

"That's right, you both had ancestors at the fair too." Barkin said. Jack glanced back at him than read the names on the plaque below the picture. "Sergeant Reginald Giri and ace reporter Murium Possible." Said Jack. "Went by Mim in her bylines. By all accounts she was a lot like you Possible. Spunky, head strong, disrespectful." Said Barkin as he walked over and got in Kim's face. "Watch it Steve." Jack warned as he crossed his arms in an aggressive manner. The class giggled at hearing Barkin's first name. Barkin seemed unfazed by the warning tho he did quickly back off as he cleared his throat. "Anyways. Mim had pulled off the crime of the century!" Barked said dramatically.

"My ancestor, criminal of the century!?" Kim exclaimed in shock. "So what? That was 100 years ago. Jack said as he rolled his shoulders. "B-but Mr. Barkin, what did she do?" Kim questioned a bit franticly. "Vamoosed with some big new invention. It, was, scandalous." Barkin replied theatrically. "Again, that was 100 years ago. Who cares?" Jack asked with a halfcocked eyebrow and crossed arms but no one seemed to care what he thought.

"What's the problem K, not the big history lesion you were expecting?" Bonnie gloated. Jack shot her the stink eye and she backed away slowly. "I need to know more." Kim stated as she crossed her arms defensively. "Need to know more? Ok her you go, grand pap's official report." Said Barkin as he put on his glasses and began to read from the piece of paper that was on the wall behind closed glass.

-FLASH BACK-

Reginald was walking around the fair with Barkin's granddad. "I'm telling you chief we need to up our security measures." Said Reginald in a heavy southern gentlemen's accent. (Think Doc Holliday from Tombstone) "Ah you worry too much Giri." Said chief Barkin. "With all due respect sir, if there's one thing I learned from my time in the confederacy it's that discretion is a priceless commodity." Reginald said in a warning tone. "Oh come on. I think you been listening to your girlfriend the journalist too much." Replied chief Barkin dismissively. "Murium Possible is not my girlfriend. I'm actually chasing someone else." Stated Reginald. "Oh really? Tell me about her." Said in intrigued chief Barkin as he stopped to look at Reginald. Reginald stood at attention with his hands behind his back as he let out a heavy sigh.

"It all started back in my time in the service. I was badly wounded, the only one in my regiment to have survived. I had taken a few slugs to my arms and legs, but luckily most of them had passed through. So there I was. Dragging myself across the battlefield as I used my rifle to hobble along. I came to a house, seemingly untouched by the battle. As tho it were in a different time all together. As I made my way to the house I collapsed on the lawn. And when I came to, there she was… The most beautiful thing I had ever seen. Skin paler than the moon, hair darker than night. And eyes a deeper green than any pine tree." Reginald said becoming misty eyed as he recalled his tale. "My, son sounds like you got it bad!" Exclaimed chief Barkin with surprise. "Eye. So she patched me up and took care of me for several weeks till my wounds had healed. Needless to say during that time I fell in love. Never had I felt so close to another. And never had anyone cared for me the way she did. Not even my own Mother." Reginald continued.

"So what happened?" Asked chief Barkin. Reginald than turned away from him as he stared off into the sky. "Come to find out she was some kind of mercenary. She had no loyalty to the south, or the north. She did Job's people paid her to. I don't know what possessed her to save a wretch like me. Maybe it was pity. Or maybe there was some good part of her that cried out for her to do so. All I know is I'll love that woman till the day I die." Reginald said finishing his tale. "What's her name?" Asked chief Barkin. "Her name…" Reginald said before turning to look chief Barkin in the eye. "Is Abigale Go."

Just then they heard a cry for help. "Constable, help!" Cried a German voice that came from a nearby building. "Constable? He's not from around her." Stated Reginald in observation. "What gave it away?" Chief Barkin asked sarcasticly. Rushing over to the nearby building they found an unconscious man lying on the floor and ran over to help him. Then they saw a woman quickly exit threw the back entrance. "Mim…?" Whispered Reginald.

The unconscious man than began to awaken. "My greatest invention… Stolen." The man mumbled as he came to. "No, no. This doesn't feel right." Reginald said in doubt as he shook his head. "Wake up man she played you for a mug, a patsy, a two bit dupe!" Chief Barkin proclaimed to Reginald as he helped the injured man up. "I don't believe that. I see no evidence." Said Reginald. "Evidence? We watched her flee the scene of the crime! What more evidence do you need?" Asked chief Barkin as he waved his hands about. "She could have been chasing the real perpetrator." Defended Reginald. "Son you're in denial!" Exclaimed chief Barkin. "No, no… This feels… Like Abigale" Said Reginald. Chief Barkin than walked over and placed his hand on Reginald's shoulder. "Son I know the lass got a tight grip on you. But you can't let your obsession cloud your judgement ." Said chief Barkin as he tried to comfort him. Reginald just looked sorrowfully at the ground.

-END FLASH BACK-

"Looks like your great great uncle also had a thing for Shego." Kim teased as she nudged Jack with her elbow. "Yea, yea." Jack said dismissively with an annoyed look on his face. Either way we need to get to the bottom of this." Said Kim in determination as she slammed her fist into her palm.

After the trip was over Jack and Kim went back to her house so they could do some research on Kim's great great aunt Mim. Jack and Kim walked into the living room and saw James sitting on the couch reading the paper. "Hey dad can I ask you something real quick?" Kim asked her dad. "Sure Kimmy" James replied as he put his paper down on the coffee table. Kim sat down on the couch beside her dad. "Well you see we were at the Middleton museum and we found this picture of two people who looked like us. Their names were Reginald Giri and Murium Possible. …According to the exhibit Murium was a thief… Is there any truth to that?" Kim asked looking forlorn.

James blinked in surprise than got up and took a book off the shelf that was across the room. "I hate to admit it Kimmy but all family trees have their weak limbs." He said as he came back with the book and opened it. In the book was pictured and newsletters of Murium Possible. "Your great aunt Murium was a real spitfire! A muckraker, fearless. Could have been the greatest." James continued with a sigh.

Jack stood behind the couch looking at the book from over their shoulders. On one of the pages was a news article with the headline; "GREAT INVENTION STOLLEN!" On the other page was two pictures, One of Mim, and the other of Reginald. Looking at the picture with narrowed eyes Jack couldn't get over the fact that Mim looked just like Kim. The nickname even sounded like Kim. He could possibly believe that Reginald and himself looked alike due to the fact that men carry on the family name. But Murium looked like Kim and Kim looked like her mother, not her father. It just fed into a conspiracy theory that he had, that Middleton was some sort of government experiment. But that was a whole other basket of bag eggs for another time.

"So what happened to her?" Asked Kim. "Well once accused our little black sheep went on the lamb. They never found the stolen invention. And since she had ran off her reputation was ruined." Said James. "Well uncle Reginald believed she was innocent and so do I." Said Jack. "Well too bad there's no proof." Said James somberly as he got up and put the book away. "we'll find proof." Kim said confidently.

Just then Jack remembered something. He vaguely remembered a journal that his grandfather had entrusted to him when he was a small boy. He had never read it but her recalled his grandfather telling him it belonged to his great great uncle Reginald. "well I think I'm going to get out of here Kim. See ya." Jack said as he turned to make his way out. Kim and James waved him off.

Back at home Jack went up into the attic and pulled the journal out of an old trunk. It was leather bound and had a strap that locked it shut, and he didn't have the key. Walking back downstairs he heard a key turn in the lock. Considering only one person had a key he knew who it was. As the door opened his jaw dropped. "I take it you like my disguise." Shego said with a smirk as she shut the door behind her. She was wearing a white tank top, green shorts, white flip flops, and the same black wire framed glasses from the night before. Her hair was in a ponytail and it was a reddish brown color. Her eyes were now a hazel green, and her skin was nearly white as snow, with her lipstick and nail color bring a reddish pink color. "Y-yea." Jack finally managed to get out after a brief moment of staring.

Shego took her hair out of the ponytail before pressing a few colored buttons on a band around her wrist and all her colors went back to normal. "Aww you don't think I'm pretty as I am?" Shego teased with a fake pout as she brought her face close to his. Jack blushed and looked away. "That's not it… Your beautiful. Jack said honestly. "Damn. She must be the only woman on the face of the earth that can make me blush." Thought Jack. Shego was blushing as well from his compliment but by the time he turned back to her it was gone.

"So how did you do that?" Jack asked. "Oh it's a device I forced Dr. Drakken to make me. He didn't want to but after a quick game of Drakken goes ouch he willingly agreed. "Shego replied excitedly with a smile as she held up her arm to show him the device. It looked like a black bracelet with a few colored buttons on it.

"Drakken goes ouch?" Jack asked. "It's where I throw my fireballs at him and he tries to dodge them. He so loves that game." Shego told him joyfully. "Just had to ask Jack, just had to ask." Jack said to himself making Shego laugh. "So what's that you got?" Shego asked as she pointed to the book in his hand. "Oh this? It's my great great uncle Reginald's journal. When me and Kim were on that trip today at the museum we found an exhibit with a picture of two people who looked like us. One was my great great uncle Reginald, and the other was her great great aunt Mim. Supposedly Mim stole some special device or something but uncle Reginald didn't believe that. He believed it was actually one of your ancestors. An Abigale Go." Jack explained. "So grandma Abigale was a thief. Nice to know I'm not the only black sleep in the family." Shego mused out loud. "Green sheep Shego, green sheep." Jack joked. "Whatever" Said Shego slightly amused.

"Anyways get this. Reginald was in love with Abigale." Jack told her. "No way!" Shego exclaimed in surprise. "so what happened?" Asked Shego. "Don't know. Hopefully this book holds the key. Only I don't have a key." Jack said as he held the book out for her to see. "Let me see that." Shego said as she took the book from him and walked into the kitchen as Jack fallowed. She held the book in one hand and used one of her sharp fingernails to cut the leather strap keeping the book closed. "Well I'm glad you never managed to hit me with those things!" Exclaimed Jack. Shego giggled. "Don't worry, the gloves are designed to stop me from cutting people too badly. Said Shego.

"Well I sure hope you don't have a scratching fetish." Said jack. "Scratching fetish? No. Biting… Well that's a different story." Shego teased. Jack than looked down at her feet and saw that her toenails were normal with French tips. "No Jack, my toenails are normal." Shego told him dryly. "Just checking. But hey, maybe I have a foot fetish." Said Jack. "Well do you?" Questioned Shego. "I'm not telling." Jack replied with a smile. "Hmph. Tease." Shego said with an amused grin.

"So you ready to start training?" Asked Jack. "Later. I wanna know what happened between my grandmother and your uncle." Shego said as she handed him the book. "well we'll see what the book has to say." Jack said as he took the book and sat down at the kitchen table. Shego sat down beside him, leaning over his shoulder as he turned to the first page as her face had a look of curiosity about it. "Let's see." Jack said before he started reading.

-FLASH BACK-

Reginald was standing amongst the crowd deep in thought as the people went by. He couldn't stop thinking about Abigale, how beautiful she was, and how he longed to be with her. It was than he was nocked from his day dreams by a faint voice threw the crowd. "Tacos, get your tacos!" Called the voice. As he moved closer to the voice ,threw the crowd he could see a bald man with a large mustache in a stand that said; "TACOS", in big bold letters on either side of two pillars . "I'll have one." Said Reginald as he pulled out some money and handed it to the man. The man than made him a taco and handed it to him. As Reginald began to eat he felt a slender finger tap him on the shoulder.

"Hey Reginald, what you got there?" Asked Mim. He turned his head to look at her. "Oh, hey Mim. It's called a taco. Here, try one." Reginald said before handing the vender some more money and he made her one to. "Mmm. This is pretty good." Said Mim as she took a bite. "Thanks. You know you two are my only satisfied customers." Said the taco vender. "Fear not my good fellow. You got a good product here. Just keep at it and I'm sure things will pull through." Reginald told the man before walking off with Mim as they ate their tacos.

"Reginald we must get to the hall of electricity before professor Demens on his latest invention. Everyone is a twitter about it. He calls it the Electrostatic Illuminator." Said Mim as she had finished her taco. "And why must we do that?" Asked Reginald as he finished his taco. "I'm a journalist Reginald. "It's my job to get the big scoop." Replied Mim. "I get that but why must I come along?" Asked Reginald in a slightly bored tone. "Really Reginald? Why must you be like this?" Asked a frustrated Mim as she placed her hands on her hips. "Oh alright… I guess I got nothing better to do." Said a defeated Reginald. "Oh thank you Reginald!" Mim said joyously as she hugged him. "Yea, sure Mim." Reginald said somewhat distantly, not returning her affection.

Over at the hall of electricity Mim and Reginald arrived just as professor Demens began his demonstration. "I call it The Electrostatic Illuminator! Observe as I set the timer for sixty seconds. Now I will absorb, contain, and control electricity from the very air!" Exclaimed professor Demens. Sixty seconds later the device in his hands shot off a boltd of lightning into the air. "I'd rather have the taco." Reginald told Mim. She just shot him an annoyed glance.

"Just imagine how this marvel can be used!" Exclaimed professor Demens. Mim than got out her pencil and note book as she prepared to ask a few questions. "Excuse me professor, how can this invention be used?" Asked Mim. "I said imagine. So go on, I'll wait." Replied the professor. "You egg heads always creating but never stopping to think if you should." Commented Reginald with crossed arms. The professor ignored him and Mim shot him an angry look, which he ignored.

Either way professor Demens response to her question seemed to derail her line of questioning so they left. "I'm telling you Reginald you need to convince the chief to up security. Who know what nefarious criminal would dare to steal such a device." Said Mim. "I agree. I'm going to go see the chief now." Replied Reginald. In truth he knew who might try.

-END FLASH BACK-

Jack continued to read as Shego fallowed along. She had both hands on his right shoulder with her head resting on her hands. Jack stopped to glance over at her, she seemed to be quite comfortable. As he looked at her she either didn't care or didn't notice since she didn't look back. "So what happened next?" Shego asked in a somewhat sleepy tone. Jack glanced at her again before continuing to read. "Ok, this seems to be the part of the story that they had on display at the museum." He said before reading that section to her.

Once Jack was done reading that section to her she turned her head to look at him, and he turned to look at her, their faces were only about an inch apart. Close enough to feel the breath on each others faces. "Seems Reginald really did have it bad for Abigale." Stated Shego. "It sure would seem that way." Said Jack. The fact their faces were only about an inch apart was only slightly uncomfortable for Jack, but he decided to ignore it. "So what happens next?" Asked shego as they both went back to the book. Shego seemed quite content to use his shoulder as her own personal pillow as she settled in to get even more comfortable.

"You know we can pick this up tomorrow." Said Jack as he turned back to look at her. "No, no. I'm listening." Shego said sleepily as she settled in ever further, seemingly placing all her weight on Jack's shoulder as she leaned into him. "Alright." Jack said skeptically before continuing to read.

-FLASH BACK-

Reginald looked up at chief Barkin as his eyes turned from doubt to determination. "No I'm sure Abigale is behind this and Mim is innocent!" Reginald shouted as he forcefully removed chief Barkin's had from his shoulder. "Son have you completely lost it!?" Questioned chief Barkin. "No! I don't care what you think sir! Abigale is behind this and I'm going to prove it! Shouted Reginald before running off. Reginald ran out the back door where he saw Mim go through just a moment ago.

Reginald ran through the crowd of people and soon found Mim who seemed to be hunting for someone. "Mim!" Shouted Reginald. "Reginald, I saw who did it!" Shouted Mim as she ran to him and grabbed onto his shoulders as and he did the same. "Where did she go Mim!?" Reginald questioned franticly. "She? How did you know it was a woman?" Mim asked in surprise. "Don't worry about that! Just tell me, where did she go!?" Shouted Reginald.

Just than he saw a woman in a long green dress and black hair running through the crowd and he took off after her. "Abigale wait!" Reginald cried as he chased after her, ducking and pushing people out the way as he gave pursuit of the beautiful woman.

Reginald chased her all the way to the ferris wheel and watched as she climbed up the side and jumped on top one of the cars. Reginald looked up as he knew what he was about to do. "Maybe Barkin was right, maybe I have lost it." Reginald mused out loud before climbing up the side of the ferris wheel and hopping on one of the cars. The ferris wheel did a full rotation till the car Reginald was on was above the car that Abigale was on and he jumped down, landing into a roll before leaping back onto his feet. "Abaigale wait!" He shouted.

"Reginald!? W-what are you doing here?" Exclaimed Abigale as she turned to look at him with the stolen device in her hands. "I could ask you the same thing Abigale. What are you going to do with that?" Reginald asked as he marched closer to her, never breaking eye contact. Abigale seemed to falter under his gaze as she slowly backed away nervously. "I have a new client Regi. He's the one who wants it, not I." Abigale said somewhat nervously as she stopped. She knew she would be forced to fight him, she didn't want to.

"Of course you wouldn't want it for yourself. All you care about is money." Reginald said with cold venom. Reginald's wards seemed to hurt Abigale as he saw tears begin to form in the corners of her eyes. "T-that's not true Regi! I-I cared about you." Abigale said with trembling voice. Reginald stopped his advance about two feet from her. He could see the tears threatening to spill from her eyes and stream down her cheeks, but he couldn't be sure they were real. "Why did you save me?" Reginald asked simply.

"I-I Don't know… When I saw you… I couldn't just let you die. Maybe it was because of all the guilt from all the bad things I have done." Replied Abigale in a sorrowful tone as she had trouble looking him in the eyes. Apon hearing this Reginald's mood seemed to change. "No one had ever cared for me the way you did Abigale." Reginald said in a voice full of compassion before moving closer to her, only stopping less than a foot away. Abigale managed to hold back her tears as she looked up into his eyes. "And I never cared for anyone like the way I cared for you. I want you to know… That what we had was real, Regi." Abigale finished as a few tears began to stream down her face.

"Give me the Illuminator Abigale." Reginald said with a pleading voice and eyes as he held out his hand. "I'm afraid I can't do that Regi. I never leave a job unfinished. Besides… There's no hope for me." Abigale said painfully as she pulled the device from his reach as she took a step back and refused to look at him. "Yes there is! I don't care what you have done Abigale!" Begged Reginald as his eyes pleaded even harder for her to stop with tears beginning to form in them.

"It doesn't matter Reginald! I'm a criminal! You deserve better than me." Abigale protested as she looked at him with painful determination. "And what of our kids Regi? Always having to run and hide from the law because of their mother… That's no life for them." Abigale said as she pleaded in her own way. Reginald stared at her for a while with intense pain and sorrow in his eyes as he tried to come up with a counter argument, but he couldn't. "So there's no way out of this… Is there Abigale?" Reginald pleaded one last time in a cold and pan filled voice as a single tear rolled down his cheek. Abigale looked away shaking her head as she held onto the device. "No… I'm sorry Regi." Abigale said painfully. They both knew what would happen next.

"I love you Abigale." Reginald said truthfully in a trembling voice mixed with love and pain. "I love you too." Abigale said with the same voice, tho she couldn't look at him. Reginald and Abigale than began fighting as Reginald lunged for the Illuminator but Abigale slugged him in the side of the face and he stumbled back. He tried again but Abigale tried to punch and kicked him. Reginald was forced to block than try again but each time it was more of the same thing, and he refused to hit Abigale.

A hot air balloon soon approached the ferris wheel with a strange looking man inside, but Reginald couldn't get a good look at him. "Toss up the Illuminator Ms. Go!" Shouted the strange man as he leaned out the basket with open arms. Abigale broke past Reginald as she ran towards the approaching hot air balloon. Reginald saw as Abigale was about to pass the device to the strange man, but he couldn't allow that to happen. As Abigale was about to hand off the invention Reginald ran in and smacked it out of her hands and it fell somewhere out of sight.

Abigale pushed Reginald with a growl before leaping onto the passing balloon. "Stop! We must get the dingus!" Cried the strange man as Reginald watched them drift away. The ferris wheel was soon on the ground and Reginald jumped off to be greeted by Mim as she ran towards him and embraced him in a big hug. He didn't respond to it. Mim soon let go. "Are you ok? Did you get the illuminator back?" Asked Mim with worry in her eyes. "I'm fine Mim. But I'm sorry… I couldn't get the illuminator back. It fell and probably got smashed to pieces." Reginald said with a mix of pane and shame as he couldn't look at her. "Well at least no one evil can get their hands on it." Mim said trying to comfort Reginald as she placed one hand on his shoulder and the other on his bicep. Reginald looked up and removed her hands. "Thanks Mim. …But it's over… I'm just going to head home. You should get out of here as well. Reginald said in defeat as he slowly walked away with his head hung down in shame.

-END FLASH BACK-

Jack heard Shego snoring on his shoulder and looked to see her sound asleep with a bit of drool running down her lower lip. He thought she looked so cute and peaceful. He wanted to kiss her, but he wouldn't allow himself to do that. There was more in the journal but he figured it was pointless to continue reading right now.

Jack closed the book and placed it on the table before scooping Shego into his arms and heading for the bedroom. As he picked her up Shego placed her arms around his neck and pulled herself into his chest holding on much like a child would to their father. Jack blushed as he felt his breathing becoming heavier. "Calm down Jack. Yes she's a beautiful woman but you can't do that." He told himself in thought as he carried her up the stairs. They soon reached the bedroom. Jack opened the door and carried her inside. He gently placed her on the bed but as he went to pull away he found that Shego wouldn't let go. "No, stay with me." Shego purred into his ear. Jack's face turned bright red, he had a feeling she wasn't playing this time.

Jack gently placed his hands on her forearms and waited for her to let go but she didn't. "I, I'm sorry Shego, but I can't do that." He said softly. Shego loosened her grip just enough so he could move away just enough for their faces to be inches apart. "Why not?" Shego asked in a quiet voice as she pouted and looked deeply into his eyes. Again Jack could see the pain in her eyes and he knew that she was lonely. He hated to see that pain in her eyes. Jack tried gently to pry her arms from around his neck, but still she wouldn't let go. Jack continued to look deeply into her pain filled eyes as he searched for an answer to her question.

After a few moments of gathering his wards he began to speak as he looked deeply and compassionately into Shego's eyes. "Because I care about you Shego. And this won't solve your problems… You won't find, what you're looking for this way. I care too much about you to commit this sin against you, and to take this from you and leave you empty inside." He told her earnestly. Shego released her grip as she looked away. She felt ashamed. She was being greedy and all he was doing was caring about her. "I'm sorry Jack." She said softly as he moved away. "No don't be, I won't accept it. Everybody gets lonely sometimes and it's nothing to be ashamed of." Jack said firmly yet compassionately. Shego felt even worse now as she sat on the edge of the bed hanging her head in shame. Even now he only showed her a kindness and compassion she felt she didn't deserve. "Damn you for being so kind to me." Shego thought.

After a few moments of slightly awkward silence Jack looked at the door than back at her as he let out a sigh. "If it makes you feel any better I'll sleep on the floor." He told her. Shego looked up at him as she seemed to perk up a little. "Thank you Jack." She said softly with thankful eyes. "Any time." Jack said simply. As he got some blankets out the large black trunk at the foot of the bed he began to ponder his wards. "Any time… I don't ever think I could ever imagine myself doing her any wrong. And I'm not sure how I would live with myself if I ever did." Jack thought to himself.

Jack closed the trunk than laid two blankets down on the floor beside the bed. Shego tossed him a pillow before she got up and raided his dresser for some clothes. As Shego went into the bathroom to change Jack tossed a few logs in the fireplace and lit it before grabbing some clothes as well. Shego came out the bathroom wearing a pair of black and white plaid pajama pants with a black Iron Maiden tee shirt. "Nice. My turn." Jack said looking at her before he went into the bathroom himself.

Shego was sitting on the edge of the bed looking down at her feet when she heard the bathroom door open. She turned to see him wearing a black tee shirt with two green stripes running down the right side and a pair of green sweat pants. Shego smirked as she looked him over. "My colors look good on you." Shego said with amusement. "Girl everything looks good on me." Jack said as he snapped his fingers back and forth and bobbed his head from side to side. They both laughed. Shego laid down on the bed and Jack took his place on the floor. "Good night Jack." Shego said warmly as she looked down at him before rolling onto her stomach and hugging her pillow. "Good night Shego." Jack said as he settled in.

As Jack laid on his back looking up at the ceiling he began to wonder about something. "Shego?" Jack said softly. "Yes Jack?" Shego replied, her voice somewhat muffled by her pillow. "…What's your name? …Your real name?" Jack asked softly. Shego paused for a moment, she considered not telling him. But the thought left a sick feeling in her stomach. She knew she had no right to do that. She hadn't used her real name in years. It really didn't even feel like it was her name anymore. "…It's Brandi." Shego told him. "And the sailors say Brandi, you're a fine girl, fine." Jack said singing a bit of Brandy by Looking Glass.

Shego groaned. "I already regret telling you. Said Shego. Jack laughed. "Good night Brandi." He said warmly. "Good night Jack." Shego said back with a yawn. They both soon fell fast asleep.

Author note: After writing this I found an error in the original story which I had Barkin and Reginald hear professor Demens cry for help and when they get there he's unconscious. Later on it shows that Abigale jumped on him and stole the illuminator, but he wasn't knocked unconscious. So when Mim walks over he thinks she had hit him. Mim than runs after Abigale to try to get the device back, which chief Barkin and Reginald witness and then Reginald goes after her and Abigalle. So the only way for Demens to be unconscious when they get their was for Mim to have slugged him. Also I have already wrote the next chapter which is the second half of the Rewriting History episode. The way I do my writing is I first wright it by hand in a notebook than I type it up.
