Problems Of
The Accord
Disclaimer: I still haven't bothered to watch the 'Civil War' movie from Marvel Studios but Aragorn II Elessar's 'When A Soldier Met A Slayer' inspired this.
Summary: The concept of the Accords is a bit troublesome for these save the world types.
"I take it something big is up since we rarely ever have a big group meeting outside of scheduled stuff and Holidays?" Asked Connor Angel, the half Vampire/half Human son of Angel and Darla to the God King/Old One known as Illyria.
Both of whom currently had membership/employment with 'Guardians International', a group that replaced the old Watchers Council after the fall of Sunnydale and its current head was one Rupert 'Ripper' Giles. "I believe you are not mistaken in that, Half-Breed." She replied.
Illyria herself and the now Human Angel had been the only survivors of the battle with the Circle Of The Black Thorn some years ago and the God King had become a valuable member of Guardians International despite certain view points of hers, along with certain issues she had with Wesley's father. Angel was mostly retired and living a quiet life with his wife, Nina the Werewolf and their two kids. But despite that, he himself was in attendance for this meeting. The chatter amongst the large group died down as Giles came into the meeting room and all eyes were on him. Seeing this, Giles decided to get started straight away. "As you all know, there has been talks of something known as 'The Sokovia Accords', largely an affair started by several other Countries and with America increasingly showing greater and greater support of it."
Various mutterings could be heard in the room with quite a few frowns for that matter as well. "We have yet to determine if the surviving elements of Wolfram and Hart are involved in this but I'm afraid to say that these⦠Accords, are no longer just talks, but now officially in act as of one hour ago." Declared Giles to the now shocked group.
The various mutterings grew louder and one Riley Finn could be heard amongst them. "Man, I'm glad Sam, Graham, and myself left the Government when we did."
As he knew damn well they would've been forced to act against their friends and that would've been a disaster. "So what happens now?" Asked Xander Harris loudly over the cacophony of unhappy voices.
Whom, along with former LAPD Detective Kate Lockley, Illyria, and Connor ran their base of operations from the Hyperion Hotel with some assistance from some of Charles Gunn's former crew members. Lorne still refused to be fully involved after what Angel had made him do but would offer a place to stay if it was needed. "Yeah, we all know that Ross isn't gonna sit back and wait where we're concerned." Dawn Summers added aloud as well.
Now herself a full fledged Watcher with a very low opinion of Thaddeus Ross. Whom had never made it a secret that he didn't like how she and the others did things since it gave them so much freedom to move about as they pleased. Plus, having the backing of the British Government was another thing he despised but with the Accords now being in affect, he may no longer have to worry about that. Giles could be seen briefly cleaning his glasses before putting them back on and speaking. "We will have to be extremely careful for the forseeable future as they will not hesitate to throw us in prison should they get ahold of us."
Fully knowing that none of them would remotely contemplate signing the damned thing given its restrictive rules and great potential for misuse by those looking to do harm. "Well, I guess its a good thing we actually made Leone into our own Country." Quipped Buffy Summers with a grin in Xander's direction and earning a few laughs in the process.
"Ah, the ol' Cultural Exchange Program, the gift that occasionally does give us nice things." Added Xander with a grin of his own.
Though it wasn't actually a Country just yet, but it was a large piece of land hidden away by Magics and would be used as a new home and base of operations for the group in the event something big happened. David Nabbit even had a hand in its development as well and to this day was still geeked as Hell over it. "Might be a good idea to start packing." Kate declared while wondering if there might be any turn coats in this group since a few were known to still have issues with adjusting outside of the norms of Society.
"Yes, quite so as best to be safe. But please do so while keeping attention away from yourselves." Giles warned grimly.
He could only hope this ridiculous act would not last long.
Author's Notes: Well, that was fun!
