Xander's Secret
Disclaimer: This is something I got to thinking about and will be part of an idea I'm having in mind for a Buffy re-write.
Summary: After meeting the Slayer and her Watcher, Xander Harris decides to let them in on a secret of his.
"I take it the reason must be quite serious if we are meeting at my new home? And quite incidentally, I am surprised young Willow is not here with us." Commented one Rupert 'Ripper' Giles of the Watchers Council.
Whom was actually new to the Sunnydale area after the Council had located where one Buffy Summers had relocated too following her time in an Asylum during the Summer. Something her father, Hank Summers, had been primarily responsible for and was one of the reasons Joyce had ended up divorcing the man as he'd done it without her involvement while she'd been traveling with their younger daughter Dawn during the Summer. There was also some tension between Buffy and Giles as she wasn't exactly keen on having another Watcher after losing Merrick to Lothos back in LA. "Or Jesse for that matter." Muttered one Buffy Summers with a frown on her face.
As Jesse McNally's pervertic tendencies weren't ones she cared for and had made it very known. Giving Xander's male best friend valid reason to keep some distance between himself and Buffy and a healthy amount of respect. Here, the two watched as Xander grew nervous and rubbed the back of his head. "Yeah, there's uhh, there's a reason for why those two aren't here right now." He told the two nervously.
"Are you in trouble?" Giles asked in concern despite himself.
For his young Slayer's tendency to ignore the way things have been done for centuries via the Council and involve others in her Calling did bother the man quite a bit. Though the Ripper in him was actually all for it but he tried to ignore that. "Because if you are, you know we can help you with whatever it is." Threw in Buffy.
Sure, while she had her trust issues with the male half of the species, she had come to like Xander in a fairly short amount of time. And if it wasn't for some of the guys from LA (another issue Giles has too) coming down to help with the Slaying in Sunnydale, Xander would no doubt be a lot less prepared for the nightlife than he otherwise likely would be since Giles was reluctant to train anyone but her. Not that Buffy felt like she needed it but whatever and felt she wasn't capable of doing any teaching herself at that point in time. Worried that she might accidentally hurt him, Willow, or Jesse. Though Willow was proving somewhat reluctant in wanting to learn how to fight thanks to her timid nature and Buffy could only hope that would become less of a thing as time went on. "No, no, there's nothing wrong, I promise. I just… Uhh, how cool are you two with Demons? Vampires is one thing but Demons is somethin' I'm curious about."
The two looked at one another, each curious about why Xander was asking this. "While there are quite a few who need to be removed from this dimension, there are also those who even the Council know not to bother with due to their more peaceful natures."
"I've been called numerous nicknames by a green skinned, Karaoke loving Demon back in LA and have even partied with a couple of Demons so I'm fine with them until I'm given a reason to do something about them."
Lorne was such a sweetheart in the dark haired, Blonde streaks through out it, Slayer's viewpoint. Xander nodded but though he had their answers, he couldn't help but feel nervous and tense. "Alright, well, I'm just gonna get on with it." He declared and before they could comment on that, the two watched as he changed into a figure with grey skin and red-orange patches in a few areas. His eyes were a yellow-green and there was two ridges on his forehead that went underneath his hair.
"Oh my." Murmured Giles as Buffy nodded, feeling like something was finally coming together for her.
"I knew there was something different about you but I couldn't tell what it was. Gotta love that Slayer package."
"Yeah, I'm a Half Demon. Not sure what kind of Demon and I actually found out about this side of my life when I was ten." Xander told her and Giles.
It had been a damn shock to wake up one morning looking like an escaped Circus freak and then had to find out from his mother about what he really and truly is. Not even his dad knew the truth and his mom was adamant it stayed that way. Xander was essentially stronger in his Demonic form but preferred to avoid that side of himself as he still hadn't quite accepted it yet. "So Willow and Jesse know then? Which I don't get why they aren't here then if they do know. Unless of course they don't?"
"Nah, neither of them do. Willow would freak out and then be seriously unhappy with the Xan-Man for never telling her. Bad enough she has a crush on me. And Jesse… I dunno, I kinda think he'd either run for his life or try to get me to use it for pranks and… Yeah. Not comfortable with that. At all." Answered Xander to Buffy.
Both Giles and Buffy could hear the self-loathing in his voice while the Slayer also couldn't help but raise her eyebrows. Mostly on account of the fact that Xander's aware of Willow's crush on him. "Wow, and here I thought you were oblivious to her crush."
"That's what you comment on?" Giles asked in a disbelieving manner as Xander snorted in amusement as he changed back to his normal Human form.
"Hey, she might not be the All-American Girlie Girl, but she is overall a girl."
"Why thank you, Xander, its good to have that acknowledged. And I'm glad you told Giles and I about your other side. Especially before it happened at a bad time and trust was lost."
He nodded at that while feeling somewhat relieved they were taking his news so well. "Yeah, I uhh, I figured you wouldn't be all that happy so its why I went ahead and nipped it in the bud."
That and he didn't necessarily want to get a stake to the Heart at an inconvenient moment! "As Buffy said, it is appreciated you willingly chose to share this secret with us. Even though it is something you would have rather kept to yourself due to your personal feelings on the matter. If you want, some research could be done to determine the origin of your Demon side?" Giles asked of him.
Plus, he wanted to avoid the subject of teenage drama and romance for as long as he could. Especially as he knew the children tended to get into that subject quite a bit despite Buffy's somewhat reluctant hesitation to do so. Xander looked unsure about that. "Ehh… Maybe in a few years when I'm more accepting."
"I understand." Replied the older man and resolved to let it be as pushing would do no good.
"Same here. Now, let's talk about Willow's crush and you being aware of it and not doing anything about it." Added in Buffy with a wink at her fellow teenager.
Only being half serious as both knew Giles would show his displeasure over that and sure enough he would much to their amusement as he groaned. "Good Lord, not in my home!"
He quickly ushered them out of his home much to their amusement and sighed in relief that he wouldn't be made to endure that particular horror once they were gone and his door was closed. Blissfully unaware of the fact that Buffy was now chasing after Xander for more details about the whole Willow crush thing. "Oh come on, I think I prefer it when you're not into this stuff like other Loners!" Shouted Xander in dismay.
"I like to think I'm a selective Loner! Something that'll catch on!"
Author's Notes: Heh, that was fun. I'm not sure if I'll modernize my idea or keep it 90s once I finally get around to writing it. This scene may even be changed too when I do write up the idea. But that would be awhile before I got to it.
