Something that was going on in my head. Takes place in Season 5-6, and for the sake of the story, Cordelia comes to visit from L.A. and I ignore the mess in Angel that was going on there at the time and Joyce being sick and BTW, it's sad that apparently none of the Scoobies seemed to appreciate their friendship with Cordelia, outside of Willow that is, considering how much they had hated each other's guts in high school before Cordelia joined the Scoobies and then they became phone friends, once Cordy left to L.A.

Dawn was going over the e-shop of clothes, wondering what should she buy, when the door opened.

"Hey." Cordelia said.

"Hey, Cordy." Dawn said.

"What's going on?" Cordelia asked.

"I'm just looking for what to buy for the May Queen thing in high school." Dawn explained. "I mean, I'm not competing, I just…"

"…wanna fit in?" Cordelia finished and Dawn nodded. "Fine."

"What?" Dawn asked.

"Shut up and get up." Cordelia pulled out a credit card. "I carry this with me for emergencies. And this definitely is one. So…"

"…shopping?" Dawn asked nervously.

"Exactly!" Cordelia said and Dawn looked uneasy, she knew far too well how Buffy or Cordelia could get, when buying new clothes.

In the mall, Dawn observed Cordelia coming out from the cabin in fancy dress and gave a thumbs up.

Dawn came out later in sparkly fancy dress, unsure but Cordelia clapped her hands and she showed Dawn how to move to have all attention drawn on her and Dawn seemed to be having fun, while practicing with Cordelia. A few moments later, they went to buy ice cream and Cordelia had to admit, while she and Buffy could often be at each others' throats but be there for each other in time of need, she was growing to love Dawn, treating her like a little sister and Dawn, frankly, from what Buffy had told about her and the first impression Cordelia was giving in the first year, she didn't like her but they slowly grew to become close friends and sister figures, unlike with Buffy.

In the mall, there was also some dancing arcade game and Cordelia put in some change as she and Dawn got on it, practicing dance moves as the people around laughed and seemed amused.

Buffy, Joyce, Willow and Tara entered the house, hearing the laughter as they noticed Cordelia and Dawn at the table, eating ice cream and having fun, much to their surprise. They would not expect them to be this close.

"So… what do you think?" Dawn asked as Cordelia showed a dress she and Dawn had bought and if jaws could drop, that's how Buffy, Joyce, Willow and Tara would react as they stared in awe. Dawn sure could impress people in this dress and well, they were surprised that Cordelia and Dawn could have so much fun together.

"Well, Cordy, maybe we should've looked for dresses together more." Buffy joked as they all chuckled.

Honestly, I would've liked to see the dynamic between Cordelia and Dawn. If Dawn had really been introduced in the beginning, I think those two would hate each others' guts at first like Cordelia and Buffy did and then they'd become close friends and while Cordy could be a good motherly figure, considering her and Connor (Don't get me started on Season 4 of Angel, yeeesh), I see Cordy and Dawn more like sisterly figures with a dynamic similar to Dawn and Buffy or Steve and Dustin in Stranger Things.
