Chapter 1: The Beginning!
Ophelia's POV
I had woken up early and was already ready but Callista was taking
forever, as usual. Probably doing her makeup, as usual. I thought as I
tapped my foot impatiently.
"Sis! Come on!" I yelled out to my twin.
"Beauty takes time! You wouldn't know that!" She yells at me.
"We're identical twins!" I yelled out to her.
"But I'm prettier!" She yells back. I rolled my eyes as Bastet
wondered down the stairs. I clicked my tongue and she ran over before
gently climbing up to my shoulder. She was such a sweetie.
"Fine! I'll saddle up the Rapidashes then!" I called back to her.
"Put the pretty gold colored saddle on Day Breaker!" Callista yelled
back. I rolled my eyes harder with a sigh.
"Fine!" I called out before going outside. The farm was big, fenced
off into sections, and even had a pond. There were no water pokemon in
it except Ariel though. I continued to the barn and saw Hercules
helping dad out with the wood.
"Are you leaving, Ophelia?" Dad called out to me.
"Not yet. I'm saddling the girls up while Callista takes her time." I
say bluntly. Dad shook his head. He knew Callista rarely ever put the
gear on Day Breaker.
"I'll get her to hurry up." Dad said with a smile. I smiled back.
"Thanks dad. Hercules, you almost ready to go?" I asked my sweet Machop.
"Chop chop!" (You bet!) He replied happily.
"That's good. Just finish helping dad, please." I say with a smile.
"Chop!" (No problem!) He replied.
"I swear, it's almost as if you understand him." Dad says to me.
"It's not hard, after all, between body motions, facial features,
tones and emotions pokemon and people can understand one another." I
explained to him. I couldn't tell him the other reason.
"This is true. That's why I think you'll end up being a master trainer
in no time." He tells me as he ruffled my hair. I whined a bit before
trying to fix it. It was up in a ponytail today.
"I'm gonna saddle up the girls." I say with a smile. Dad nods before
heading inside. I gave Hercules a fist bump before going into the
barn. I say Day Breaker and Nightmare Moon were finished eating and
happy to see me. Yes, even though Day Breaker belonged to my sister,
she still loved everyone that was nice to her. A royal pain but better
than my sister. I smiled and pet their muzzles.
"Hey girls, ready to ride into Pallet Town?" I asked them. (Of course
we are!) They neighed in response. I let them out and began brushing
them before putting on their reigns. No saddles, though. Why? Too
heavy to carry. Besides, we knew how to ride bareback. Not easy to do,
but I could do it.
Now, I wanted to battle in gyms but my sister wanted to do the
contests to earn ribbons. Sigh. Mom, of course, agreed and told me I
had to go with her. Dad, however, worked out a compromise where if I
had to enter the contests too or be there, then Callista had to do the
same. It was, bitterly, agreed. Besides, I knew Bastet and Nightmare
Moon would be perfect for those competitions. I could find more
pokemon too. Bastet was now napping on her bed on a hay barrel, since
she refused to sleep on the hay and ground, as I finished up with the
girls and guided them out. I tied them up before looking back at the
house. Hercules came over to me.
"Is Callista ready yet?" I asked him. He shook his head no. I groaned.
"I'm ready to leave without her." I say before storming up to the
house. I opened the door and took a deep breath.
"SIS! HURRY UP OR I'M LEAVING YOU BEHIND!" I screamed out to her.
"You will do no such thing!" Mom scolded me from the kitchen.
"Wanna bet?" I asked her in a blunt tone.
"Hun, could you wait 5 more minutes for her?" Dad asked me. I groaned.
"Fine. But if she's not ready, I'm leaving. I've waited 5 years
already, I can't wait any longer." I say as I go into the kitchen and
grabbed a protein bar.
"Do you have food?" Dad asked me.
"Yes." I say to him.
"Rope?" He asked.
"Yes." I reply before taking another bite.
"Water canteens? Can opener? Pocket knife?" Dad asked me.
"Yes, yes and yes." I reply before tossing the wrapper.
"Bags for trash? Matches? Rubber gloves? Non-toxic soaps? Towels?
Spare clothes? Swimsuits?" Dad listed off more stuff.
"Dad, yes, I got it all and Callista packed her own bag so ask her." I
say to him as I looked at the time. 2 minutes left.
"First Aid kit?" He asked me.
"Yup, along with potions, pokeballs, wallet, my savings, toothbrush,
toothpaste, hair brush, spare hair ties, poke brushes, feminine
products and deodorant. I triple checked the list dad. I have a pot, a
pan, a ladle, a spatula and wooden plates, bowls, dish bowls for
pokemon and wooden utensils. It's heavy, but worth it." I say with a
smile.
"How can you carry everything in a back pack?" Mom asked me, not in a
snarky tone but curiously actually.
"I bought a travel bag, plenty of room and pockets, just for this
occasion. Better than a suitcase." I say to her as I crossed my arms.
Mom frowned, she never traveled like a trainer did, but said nothing.
I'm not even sure how dad could stand her, let alone marry her. Oh
well. I looked at the time and saw time was up. I walked over to the
stairs.
"CALLISTA! I'M LEAVING! YOU CAN CATCH UP!" I yelled loudly before
walking out. I was done waiting. She'd be another hour if I'm lucky.
"You're not-" Mom started but I cut her off.
"Bye mom, bye dad. I'll call you when I get to the first town." I say before rushing out. I
pulled out two pokeballs, one with the Zeus symbol on it and another
with an Egyptian eye symbol on it, as I went to Hercules first.
"We're going, bud." I let him know as I showed him the pokeball.
"Machop!" (About time.) He says before I put him in the pokeball. I
smiled before shrinking it and attaching it to the side of my belt. I
went to the barn with a smile.
"Bastet, time to go." I call to her. She looked at me but refused to
move. I sighed.
"I'll try to pack your bed." I add to her. She sat up and meowed
happily, letting me know that's what she wanted, before I put her in
the other pokeball. I should also mention, these were stickers I made
to show the balls were mine for my pokemon. Nightmare Moon had one
too. Hers was a moon with purple smoke/mist around it. I made one for
Day Breaker's ball too. A yellow sun with light orange flames and a
dark orange flame around it. (AKA Nightmare Moon's and Daybreaker's
cutie marks.) I also made Breezy's sticker, a simple Butterfree on it
and a mermaid sticker for Ariel's. I took the cat bed and, barely, put
it in my bag before going up to Nightmare Moon.
"You ready girl?" I asked her. She neighed, letting me know she was,
before untying her. She knelt down so I could get up. Once on, we
walked off to Pallet town and the lab. Pallet Town was only a 20
minute ride there, if we were running, but walking it was going to be
an hour at most to the lab. I didn't care though. I was just enjoying
the scenery. Almost half way there I heard hooves.
"HEY!~" I heard Callista yell at me. I frowned but stopped Nightmare
Moon. Soon Callista and Day Breaker were next to us.
"Why'd you leave me!~" She whined out annoyingly.
"You were taking too damn long." I bluntly told her. She only rolled her eyes.
"Whatever. At least I look good." She says with a smirk.
"For a 10 year old named Gary." I told her rather than asked. She
puffed her cheeks out as she pouted.
"He's a mature 10." She pouted out. I rolled my eyes.
"Whatever. He's yours, that is if he even cares." I say in a bland
tone. She only smirked.
"You're just jealous." She said with a smirk.
"No.~ I'm annoyed. Now let's go." I say before getting Nightmare Moon
to run. Callista cried out before she got Day Breaker to run. We were
now racing to the lab, making our way through town, as we passed Ash.
I chuckled at him in pajamas.
Running late again, as usual. I thought as we hurried.
We never rode our girls into town, but this time we did. I smirked at my sister
before turning a different way. I knew she'd be confused, but I also
knew the front of the lab would be crowded. So what did I plan?
Simple. To jump the wall. I had Nightmare Moon jump up and over the
wall, the professor should have a better job at the wall, before
dashing to the door. I made it first and heard my sister shrieking I
was a cheater. I rolled my eyes as I hopped off Nightmare Moon, put
her in her Pokeball, then walked into the lab.
"Professor Oak?" I called out as I looked around. I saw Professor Oak
come out from the back with a smile.
"Ah, you must be Callista." He greeted me. I frowned at that.
"No, I'm her twin. Ophelia." I say to him. Professor Oak frowned.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I got a call from your mother saying Callista would
arrive first." He apologized as he motioned for me to follow him. I
followed with a sigh.
"Figures. Well, Nightmare Moon was faster than Day Breaker." I say
while entering the room in the back.
I frowned more when I saw Gary. Uhg. Of course! I thought bitterly. See, Gary knew me and my sister,
as well as Ash, but Professor Oak hadn't met us yet. Gary annoyed the
hell out of me.
"Oh? You already have pokemon?" He asked me as Gary smirked at me.
"Yes, we each have 3." I explained as I ignored Gary.
"That's an excellent start!" Professor Oak says with a smile.
"Yeah, but they were gifts, not worked for." Gary said smugly. I glared at him.
"My sister caught Breezy after I saved Bastet." I snapped at him. Gary
had a way to piss me off.
"May I ask what pokemon you have?" Professor Oak asked me.
"I can show you if you'd like." I say with a smile. Professor Oak
nodded, he was curious because I told him the names they were given
but not what kind they were. Before anything, I heard the door open
follow by heels clicking on the ground. My sister popped in through
the door.
"You cheater! I would've won!" Callista yelled at me. I rolled my eyes.
"Please. Nightmare Moon is faster than Day Breaker." I say bluntly
with a pinch of attitude.
"Well, since you both are here, I can give you both your Pokedex and
you can use them on your pokemon before starting your journey."
Proffesor Oak explained as he decided to calm the situation.
"Oh. Oh that's great!" Callista said happily. I rolled my eyes again but smiled.
"I'm curious as well." Gary piped up with a smirk. Callista gained
hearts in her eyes as she finally noticed him.
"I'd happily show you my amazing girls for you." She cooed out. I
gagged at how she was acting towards Gary, especially since she's 15
and he's 10. I looked at his squirtle though.
"Aww, what a cute little squirtle!" I cooed as I noticed it finally
poked out from behind him. Squirtle blushed while my sister noticed.
"I'm normally not into squirtles, but this one fits you well."
Callista said as she tried to impress Gary. Gary ignored her though,
nothing new since he played with her emotions a lot, but still
smirked.
"I'm going to train him well." Gary said to us.
"Hope you do, because I want to beat you hard." I say to him with a
smirk while folding my arms in front of me.
"Well, I could battle you now, but that would be a waste of time."
Gary said smugly. My eye twitched from that one.
"He's right. You have a fire type, a fighting type and a normal type.
You'd lose fast. I, however, would have a better chance because of
Ariel." Callista bragged. I puffed out my cheeks in a pout.
"So what? Weaknesses don't always matter." I pouted out. Gary chuckled a bit.
"Oh, but it does." Gary said smugly. I felt my blood boil.
"Professor, could we have the pokedex, show you our pokemon, then
leave? I wish to keep going on our adventure." I say as I grit my
teeth a bit. Professor Oak nodded and gave me and my sister each a
pokedex.
"Well, here are my girls!" Sis said as she tossed each pokeball into the air.
"Third pokemon is Ariel!" She announced as Dewgong came out.
"Gong gong!" (Happy to show off!) Ariel cried out happily.
"Next is Breezy!" Callista called out as Breezy popped out of the pokeball next
"Free Free!~" (Time to show myself!) Breezy chimed out.
"And lastly, my first pokemon! Day Breaker!" Sis announced happily as
Day Breaker emerged from her pokeball with a neigh that said I'm ready
to go.
"Wow! These are amazing pokemon to start off with!" Professor oak said
proudly. I only sighed before tossing mine one at a time.
"Let's start off with my third pokemon! Hercules!" I announced as I
tossed the ball. Out popped my Machop. He looked around before posing.
"Chop!" (Hey!) He cried out happily.
"Next, lets marvel at Bastet!" I announced as I tossed the second
ball. Out came Meowth. She looked around curiously.
"Meow, meow meow." (How boring, no battle.) She said in a moody tone
but showed off her gold.
"Lastly, my first pokemon! Day Breaker's younger twin! Nightmare
Moon!" I announced as I tossed the ball into the air. Out came
Nightmare Moon, flames shining as silver as the moon, body black as
night, eyes blue to stand out. She neighed, announcing her presents,
as she stood on her back hooves to show off.
"Wow! A shiny Rapidash! And this one is not a normal shiny either!"
Professor Oak announced in amazement.
"How so?" I asked curiously.
"Well, Shiny Rapidash only have silver flames as a change, but her
eyes and body are different colors as well. I have a feeling she's
much stronger than any normal Rapidash." Professor Oak said as he
marveled at Nightmare Moon. Callista pouted a bit but pouted more when
Gary was equally amazed.
"Interesting choice. Well, if she's very strong, then I'll have to
find stronger pokemon to beat you. You can count on that." Gary said
as he turned to me and winked. My sister was upset while I rolled my
eyes.
"Keep dreaming, brat." I told him bluntly. Like hell I'd lose to that
punk! I thought bitterly to myself. Sis and I used the pokedex on our
pokemon, then each other's, before putting them, and the pokemon,
away. I was smart enough to use the pokedex on squirtle as well.
"Can we go now? I wanna earn ribbons!" Sis whined out. I rolled my eyes.
"Ribbons?" Gary asked curiously.
"She wants to earn ribbons for pokemon contests rather than badges." I
explained with a shrug. Sis pulled out a map.
"Yeah! See, here are all the locations and when they start." Sis says
as she pointed out all the places.
"Good thing is, most towns have badges, so no matter what I'll earn
more badges." I add with a smile.
"Yeah yeah, badges, right." Sis said as she waved me off. I rolled my eyes.
"Then lets go. Bye Professor. See ya, dork. Bye Squirtle." I say to
them, rude to Gary but not to his grandpa nor the squirtle, before I
begin walking out. Good thing I had my own map, just in case.
"Oh, right. Bye Professor. Bye cutie!" Sis said to them before jogging
out. I rolled my eyes.
"Really?" I asked her once we were outside.
"What?~" She whined out. I rolled my eyes again.
"Whatever." I say before we go out. Sis and I knew a good portion of
the townsfolk, so we said goodbye to them, told them we were off on
our journey, then walked off down the path that would lead us to our
adventure. After a while sis started complaining.
"I'm tired!~" She whined out.
"This is why I'm in better shape than you. I, actually, walk a lot!" I
snapped at her. I wasn't being mean, but her whining and complaining
gets on my nerves. She was always the princess and didn't do labor.
"But I walk." She tells me.
"You only walk when it has to do with shopping." I say bluntly.
"Well could you at least pull my suitcase? It's heavy.~" She whined out.
"No. You chose it, not me. I was smart, you were not. You can suffer."
I tell her bluntly. She huffed but then pulled out her pokeball and
summoned Day Breaker.
"I can just ride!" She said proudly. I rolled my eyes but stopped half
way when I noticed Pidgy flying the opposite way, followed by a few
more clouds than before.
"Good idea. It's going to rain." I say before bring out Nightmare
Moon. If we rode on them, not only we can beat the storm, but we could
also make it there before dark. We got on them and rode off. As we
rode by the road, we saw Gary drive past us with his cheerleaders. I
gagged while sis pouted about wanting to be with him.
"He's a smug jerk who drives, not actually walks and cares about the
environment!" I scolded her. I swear, I have no idea what she sees in
him at all. He's not even cute. I thought to myself. I looked and saw
the sky start to get dark.
"Hurry!" I call out as we picked up the pace. It was 4pm by the time
we saw the city as the rain started. I quickly put Nightmare moon
away, thanking the stars Callista did the same with Day Breaker,
before we made a run for it. As we got to town, we were stopped by a
cop.
"Hold it. Why are you running?" She asked us.
"It's raining.~" Sis whined out. I smacked her arm to shut her up. She
cried out 'ow' as I spoke.
"I'm sorry, but it's raining and we arrived from Pallet Town." I say
as I showed her my Pokedex. Sis did the same and the cop viewed them.
"Very good. I'm Officer Jenny, please be careful and aware that there
are Pokemon thieves roaming around." She says before pointing to where
the Poke Center was. We thanked her and hurry there to rest. When we
got in, I found the phone and went to it.
"What are you doing?" Callista asked me.
"Calling mom and dad like I said I would." I tell her before calling them.
"Oh!" She exclaimed happily. Dad then picked up the phone.
"Hello?" He asked before he saw us.
"Hi dad!" We both said ecstatically.
"Hi girls! How are you?" He asked us.
"I got rained on." Callista said with a pout.
"Yeah, we barely made it to Veridian City." I say to him.
"That's great! I'm not surprised you made it there, but did you battle
yet?" He asked us.
"Not yet, but I'm not worried about it." I say to him.
"I'm going to get us a room and a towel." Sis said before walking off.
I decided not to stop her at all.
"That's a good idea. It's a long way to Pewter City where you can
battle the Gym Leader." Dad says to me with a smile.
"I'll work hard to get my 1st badge!" I say enthusiastically.
"If I remember correctly, the Gym Leader has rock type pokemon. It'd
be a good idea to find a water type to help you out." Dad says, giving
me advice.
"I'm hoping Hercules will be enough, but I'll keep my eyes open for
one." I say as I heed his advice.
"I think you can use 2 pokemon. What will the other be?" Dad asked me.
I thought for a moment.
"I don't think Bastet would help much, so if I can't get another
pokemon I'll use Nightmare Moon." I explained to him.
"Could Callista let you borrow Ariel?" He asked me.
"Doubt it. I'm ok though." I say with a determined look. He nodded,
knowing I am stubborn.
"Alright. Well, make sure you eat dinner. Your mother and I love you
both." He says with a smile.
"We love you too." I say to him with a smile. We hung up and I went
over to Callista.
"What did dad say?" She asked me.
"To make sure we eat dinner and to tell me about the Pewter City gym."
I say to her. I noticed she had a towel.
"Did you get me one?" I asked her.
"No. Why would I?" She asked me. I sighed but saw a nurse come over.
"Hello, I'm Nurse Joy. If you need anything, let me know. Also, here
is a towel for you." She said cheerfully before handing me a towel.
"Thank you." I say before taking the towel and dried myself. I was
glad to have a warm towel. I noticed the rain stopped too.
"I'm going for a walk." I say to Callista.
"Fine." She said as she tried to smooth out her, now frizzy, hair. I
went outside and walked around. I was close to where we first entered
and was stunned to see a bird pokemon flying.
I opened up the pokedex but it announced it was an unknown pokemon not found in the system and
that there were loads of pokemon out there. I looked closer and smiled
at the familiar bird.
When I first saw you 4 years ago, that was when I could talk to some
pokemon. Thank you. I wish, one day, to meet you in person, to know
more about you and to meet other rare pokemon on my adventure. I
thought with a bright smile as the, already distant bird, disappeared
beyond the rainbow. I sighed before turning to walk off. Part way
there I accidentally bumped into a guy with purple hair.
"Oh. I'm sorry." I say politely. I could be polite when needed. I
looked at the person and it looked like a phony costume, but I didn't
judge.
"Uh, no problem. Just watch out." He tells me.
"No problem." I say before turning and walking off. I didn't realize
the trouble I ran into as I made it back to the Pokemon Center. I
couldn't help but feel something big was going to happen.
And the thought of that… Excited me!
