Chapter 16- Battle of the Hellmouth
Peter sat with Curt as he told the Professor. "You know, you don't have to be part of this if you don't want to."
"That's the thing, Peter, I want to", Curt told him. "It started with me, I will be there at the end too. Its my choice, just like I chose to teach."
"Why did you choose to teach, if I may ask?" Peter asked Curt.
"To enlighten young minds, share knowledge with them, unlock their potential", Curt shrugged, and Peter nodded, the two scientists feeling a kinship in their mind. "To create a better generation than mine."
He then revealed. "I used to know your father, Peter."
"Really?" Peter asked in surprise.
"Yes, he was a brilliant man, with an even more brilliant wife", Curt told Peter. "They would be proud of who you have become now."
"Thank you, Professor, I'll do my best", Peter assured him.
"You sure about this?" Willow asked Buffy and Faith.
"Yeah, I am", Buffy nodded. "That's the best way we can get out of this with the least amount of casualties."
"Try to save as many as you can", Steve said with a sigh. "Well, it is a good plan, but if it affects everyone-"
"I think you could make sure that doesn't happen", Faith looked at Willow and Tara. "What do you say?"
"We haven't tried anything like this before", Tara confessed to them. "But well, guess we have to."
"Can you do it now?" Matt asked.
"I'm trying to feel its power, I think this would work only above the Hellmouth", Tara told Matt and the rest.
"Pity", Spike muttered. "Would have been better if we went prepared."
"Well, we just have to time it right", Angel said. "What do you guys say?"
"So, I'll join the club", Natasha quipped, looking at Steve, Bucky, Buffy, Faith, Angel and Spike with a smirk. "Could be fun. Could be dangerous."
"I will too", Simmons pointed out. "It can be risky with all the variables to take into account-"
"Yes, so many things can go wrong", Fitz added. "It can be quite the mess-"
"I trust you two", Steve said to Willow and Tara.
"Thanks Cap", Willow smiled.
"So, we are really going to do it?" Dawn asked.
"It appears we are", Wesley shrugged.
Buffy then called out. "Listen up, everyone!"
All turned to her as Buffy addressed them all. "I hate this. I hate being here. I hate that you have to be here. I hate that there's evil, and that I was chosen to fight it. I wish, a whole lot of the time, that I hadn't been. I know a lot of you wish I hadn't been either." Kennedy and Rona looked away. "But this isn't about wishes. This is about choices. I believe we can beat this evil. Not when it comes, not when its army is ready, now. Tomorrow morning I'm opening the seal. I'm going down into the hellmouth, and I'm finishing this once and for all. Right now you're asking yourself, "what makes this different? What makes us anything more than a bunch of girls being picked off one by one?" It's true not all of you have the power that some of us do. So here's the part where you make a choice."
Steve took over from Buffy. "Choice, that's the important word here- choice. Without our ideals, our commitment to good and free will, we are trash ourselves. But having them is what makes us different from the bad guys, and so its time you choose, but whatever you do, remember, tomorrow- we are fighting a war. And we are fighting to win."
Everyone now had flames of determination in their eyes, even Kennedy, Rona and Robin.
Buffy asked them. "So tell me, are you ready to be strong?"
Next day
A yellow school bus stopped in front of Sunnydale High, and out walked Wood with Buffy, Faith, Matt, Peter, Spike, Willow, Tara, Dawn, Steve, Angel, Bucky, Natasha, Sam, Wesley, Lorne, Gunn, Fred, Groo, Giles, Anya, Bobbi, Hunter, Fitz, Simmons, Curt, Felicia, Amanda, Vi, Satsu, Renee and all other Potentials following.
Angel and Spike covered themselves with blankets for protection and hurried inside.
"Welcome to Sunnydale High", Wood simply said as they walked in.
"Potentials except Felicia and Simmons, go into the basement, follow Natasha, Matt, Angel, Peter, Professor Connors, Spike and Faith", Steve ordered them.
Peter and Dawn shared a kiss as the former said. "Stay safe."
"Stay safe", Dawn told him too as they parted ways.
Bucky and Natasha kissed too and shared a meaningful look before splitting up.
"Come on", Faith called out as she, Spike, Angel, Matt, Natasha, Peter and Curt led the Potentials except Felicia and Simmons away.
"Willow, Tara, my office is straight through here", Wood pointed for them.
"Right over the seal", Buffy added.
"Which is why the scythe would work there, best to get to work quickly", Steve suggested, and they nodded.
"You're right Cap, come on", Tara said as she and Willow walked a little, Tara awed, amazed and impressed all at once by the strength and determination she felt from Cap's soul, he was one of a kind.
"Let's do it fast", Willow added.
"The vampires get upstairs, we have 3 areas they could get through to another building and then down into the sewers", Wood pointed while telling them. "Down the hall in the atrium, the north hall here, and the primary target, through the lounge straight to the science building. Now odds are, most of them will head there."
Steve gave his plans. "Giles, Wesley, Wood, you 3 take the lounge." He turned to Fitz, Simmons and Fred. "And you three shall cover them with what you have."
"Sure thing Cap", Fred said with a nod.
Simmons started. "And when that happens-"
"Keep at it, if they get close, you know what to do", Steve advised her and got a nod.
"Sounds like a plan", Fitz agreed.
"I believe we should go then", Wesley noted.
"Yes, good luck", Giles said to all of them, sharing a meaningful look with Buffy, and then they walked off.
"Now atrium", Steve turned to Xander, Lorne, Dawn, Felicia, Gunn and Groo. "Is for you guys. Lorne, you're the least experienced."
"I know America my man, this country's embodiment", Steve smiled at the compliment. "But I am here to help."
"I know, which is why you stay behind and provide cover fire for the rest", Steve said and turned to Felicia. "You know what to do when it happens."
"Yes Cap", Felicia nodded.
"And Dawn, you can enhance yourself, right?" Steve asked Dawn, hating that teenagers were involved in this, but knowing there was no other choice right now.
"Yeah."
"If the tougher ones come, do it", Steve ordered her and then turned to Gunn and Groo. "You two are the most skilled, protect the others."
"With all we've got Cap", Gunn assured him.
"Including our lives", Groo added.
"Good luck Buffy", Xander shared a hug with her.
"You too", Buffy said and then she and Dawn kissed on the cheeks. "Stay safe."
"You stay safe too", Dawn added, and then this group left as well.
"That leaves the north hall", Steve turned to the rest. "Buck."
"Sure thing", Bucky nodded.
"Blade, Bobbi, Hunter, Anya, you're with him", Steve gave his orders. "Protect each other, have each other's backs, and stay safe."
"Stay safe, I like that, we need to be safe", Anya said.
"Come on, you heard him", Bobbi said.
"Time to fuck up the prehistoric bloodsuckers", Blade quipped as this group now left as well.
Steve turned to Sam. "You circle around the school, I know some will get out no matter what we do, its up to you to kill them all."
"On it Cap", Sam assured. "And I've called it in."
"Good job", Steve assured him with a smile as Sam left.
That left Steve and Buffy as she said. "You know how to do this really well."
"Well, you guys did hold up the fort too, don't sell yourselves short", Steve assured as the Super Soldier and the Slayer walked down hall as well, soon joining Matt, Faith, Angel, Spike, Peter, Natasha, Curt and the other Potentials.
Buffy stood beside Matt, Faith and Spike.
"You first, B", Faith handed Buffy a knife. Buffy sighed and took the knife from Faith and used it to cut the palm of her hand so that it bled.
She handed the knife to Faith.
Moments later, all had cut their hands, and they all held their cut hands out over the seal, activating it. It opened and parted, sinking into the ground forming a staircase into the Hellmouth.
Steve and Buffy went in first, followed by Matt and Faith, then Peter and Natasha, then Curt, and then the rest.
Willow and Tara sat on the floor of the Principal's office across each other with white semi-lit candles and the scythe between them as Willow said. "This is it."
"You sure you want me to do this?" Tara asked.
"Yeah baby, I know you can", Willow said as they shared a kiss. "We use our power to do it, and I use the Space Stone's Power to keep it contained."
"Right, let's do it", Tara said as they held hands while holding the scythe and closing their eyes, started chanting.
If they got any intruders, Willow's power could blow them away just by sensing them, so not much to worry about there.
Buffy, Steve, Matt, Faith, Angel, Spike, Peter, Natasha, Curt and the other Potentials walked down the Hellmouth.
Spike looked at the amulet Matt worn around his neck. "Not to be a buzzkill, love, but this fabulous accessory isn't exactly tingling with power."
"Well, I am", Matt shrugged.
"I don't trust Wolfram and Hart but I do know they'll give me something that works to stop this", Angel pointed out.
Buffy psyched herself up as she looked around slack-jawed. "I'm not worried."
"If I wore it, I'd look like Elizabeth Taylor", Spike commented.
"Cheer up, Liz", Faith said with dark humor. "Willow's and Tara's big spell doesn't work, it won't matter what you wear. And you're not wearing it."
"It will", Steve assured them.
"Yeah, they are too powerful", Peter agreed there. "Come on."
"Just stay calm", Natasha added as all walked forwards to the edge of a cliff where they could look out and saw thousands upon thousands of Turok-Han below them on the floor of the Hellmouth.
And with them were what looked like crosses between Lizards and Bringers.
Curt realized how that happened. "It's my fault."
"No its not Professor", Steve assured him.
"Yeah, the First did this when it had you", Peter agreed there.
"I'll correct it", Curt declared firmly.
Buffy said. "I'm not worried."
The Turok-Han and Lizard-Bringers were growling and making noise as they mobbed below them. Spike backed up.
"I'm not worried", Buffy said again.
"Broken record much?" Peter asked.
"Cap, Buffy—" Amanda said, frightened.
"It's getting close", Satsu said.
"I'm not worried...as long as Willow and Tara can work their spell before they—" the Turok-Han and Lizard-Bringers looked up at all of them, "see us."
"Stop!" Matt called out as his Hell-Mark glowed but they didn't stop.
"I think the First's influence makes them slightly above normal Vamps", Angel said as Matt groaned.
The snarling Turok-Han and Lizard-Bringer army rushed toward the cliff where the good guys were positioned.
As the Turok-Han and Lizard-Bringer army advanced toward the heroes, Buffy held her ground with the rest and said under her breath. "Willow, Tara..."
Willow and Tara performed the spell as Tara was suddenly overcome with power, drawing on her own as well as Willow's while, while Willow glowed blue with Space Stone magic.
Sam looked at the blue barrier in the sky, with shreds of Eldritch energy and muttered. "Oh boy! That's something!"
Willow and Tara both gave off Eldritch energy too and glowed, with the barrier Willow had conjured preventing the spell from going outside of Sunnydale.
And then they said at the same time, their glow turning white. "Oh…..my…Goddess…"
Simmons suddenly felt the power through her and smiled, confident. "I feel it."
"It happened?" Fitz asked as he and the other four looked at her.
"It happened", Simmons confirmed.
Felicia took a deep breath, feeling the power in her too. "Well, I'll be damned!"
"I'm not gonna be left behind", Dawn smirked as she chanted a spell, enhancing herself physically.
"Let's do it", Xander said.
"I'm ready", Gunn shrugged.
"Well then, the army of strong women has risen", Lorne quipped, getting chuckles from the rest.
In the Hellmouth- Natasha, Amanda, Vi, Satsu, Renee, Kennedy, Rona and the rest felt powered up too.
"It is here, they did it", Natasha said, feeling the power as she cracked her neck.
"Time for us to do our thing now", Steve said.
"Sure thing", Buffy smirked.
"Come on guys", Peter urged them.
The scythe glowed white in Willow's and Tara's hands.
The Turok-Han and Lizard-Bringers rushed to the army of good guys.
"These guys are dust", Vi said confidently.
"I will not die a monster", Curt declared just as the Turok-Han and Lizard-Bringers leapt up.
Matt and Curt transformed at the same time, the former sending many back with the Hellfire he spewed, and Adam then sliced with his claws, killing many more at the same time.
Curt as Lizard attacked a Lizard-Bringer, ripping it apart, and whacked another away with his tail before slamming another down as he smashed it with his foot.
Buffy kicked 2 Turok-Han back as Steve spun and bashed two with his shield and leaping with both feet out, kicked another away.
Vi leapt and kicked one down as Rona hit another and Kennedy kicked another, with Faith kicking one and smacking it away.
Amanda staked one and threw it off as Peter webbed one and twirling it, hit two more before throwing those down too. "Friendly fire, or friendly smashing."
He got behind another and trapped its neck with webbing.
Natasha struck one with Widow's bite before kicking it so hard it was sent flying off by many feet, and dodging another's strikes, grabbed it in a chokehold and snapped its neck.
"Now I know what it feels like", Natasha said as she and Steve exchanged a smile, then fought side by side as Steve slammed one with his shield in a spin motion as Natasha spun another's feet from under him and took him down.
Angel and Spike were both in Vamp faces and the former backhanded one as the latter leapt and kicked another away.
"Never thought we'd do this side-by-side", Spike quipped.
"Things change", Angel shrugged.
"Why are these ones not as strong as that?" Faith wondered as she cut off another's head.
"Maybe that one was a special one so it was stronger", Buffy suggested as she kicked another away, and Faith nodded in agreement.
Satsu jabbed one multiple times, taking it down as Renee threw another off.
Vi sliced another one's throat as Adam flew down into the charging mass, landing and scattering them on impact before incinerating many with his Hellfire.
"Good going", Faith called out as she cut off another's head.
Buffy punched another back before kicking one down and then kicked another before spinning another away and staked one as Peter flipped and kicked one's chin, sending him off, then with his webbing, brought one closer to him and kneed that one, taking him out too.
Faith pushed two off as Steve kicked one away in a spin motion and punched another before slamming one with his shield.
Curt ripped a few more apart before slamming one down and smashing it repeatedly, killing it, and kicked one away before grabbing one and squeezing it hard, killing it.
He whacked away another with his tail too. Seeing his size, outside of Adam, he was the biggest threat and many Turok-Han and Lizard-Bringers ganged up on him, all covering him as went to his knees.
Peter saw and pulled some off of him. "Get away from him!"
The others were sent flying off but Curt transformed back, now on his knees as he fell down, and Peter noticed he had a mortal wound in the gut, and took his mask off. "No Professor…no….."
"Never forget…you are extraordinary", Curt pointed at Peter's head and heart. "Goodbye."
The life then left his eyes as Peter had some tears in his eyes. "I'm sorry."
Then as a Turok-Han tried to attack from behind, Peter rolled away due to his Spider Sense and webbing it, hurled it violently before throwing it into 7 more, throwing them all down with a roar.
Steve saw Red Skull in front of him but knew who it really was. "So its you then."
"Why are you on their side when you can wield the power of the Gods, Captain?" The First asked Steve.
"Because its not for me, its for them", Steve said firmly where his priorities lay.
The First glared hatefully and roared in Steve's face. "How can this be?! YOU ARE MORE GOOD THAN I AM EVIL!"
Steve smiled and holding out his hand, shrugged. "I'm just a kid from Brooklyn."
And then, a second later, smashing sounds were heard as a projectile of lightning slammed to the ground, sending many enemies flying off, and it went into Steve's hand as he glowed with lightning.
Mjolnir!
Steve then threw up his shield and batted it forth with Mjolnir, decapitating several Turok-Han before firing lightning blast at the Lizard-Bringers, killing them too.
He then caught his shield and threw it again before throwing Mjolnir as it hit the shield and a loud shockwave went off, killing many more.
Steve then called forth a lightning blast, ending some more.
"NO!" The First Evil yelled when a blast of Eldritch magic sent more of them off, and Willow and Tara hovered in the air, the former glowing red and the latter glowing golden, holding the scythe.
"Buffy!" Willow called out as Buffy looked up at them.
"Take this", Tara hurled the scythe to her, and Buffy caught it.
She then used the back end to dust one Turok-Han and the front blade to dust another while Rona kicked one away, but two jumped her from behind, biting into her as she was ended.
Seeing her close friend die sent Kennedy into a rage as she beat on one viciously, while Renee punched one Bringer-Lizard away and staked a Turok-Han before one Bringer-Lizard clawed her gut, making her kneel in pain as another killed her by clawing her throat.
"NO!" Satsu yelled in horror as she killed that one.
The casualties had started, unfortunately.
Willow and Tara held hands and Eldritch magic came out of them as they flew forwards, killing various of the enemy army as Steve twirled Mjolnir, sending bits and pieces flying off.
Natasha kneed one and punched another away before firing Widow's Bite as Faith staked one and kicked another away, with Angel and Spike breaking the neck of one each while Peter webbed two and twirled them before sending them down and webbed one into a cocoon.
Buffy twirled her scythe and used it to slice two simultaneously.
Down below, Adam spewed Hellfire, incinerating many on coming close to him.
But some did manage to escape above.
In the Lounge, Wood was the first to engage as he tried to fight a Turok-Han but was pushed back as Giles engaged another and Wood spin kicked it back, and Wesley fired a shotgun at one before staking it, and then fired it at another, blowing off a limb.
From the corner, Fitz, Simmons and Fred fired special flamethrowers, incinerating a good few, and when they got close, Simmons kicked one away by many feet. "I have it."
"Now that is special", Fitz smiled as they kissed, and Simmons struck another away, sending it off, and then fired her flamethrower, getting another before punching another away.
"We can make it", Fred said as she and Fitz continued firing too.
Wood used his knives and skills as Giles held one back, and Wesley blew off another's limbs with his shotgun.
The north hall became a slaughterhouse when the battle began as Bucky used his gun to blow some off and then punched one away by many feet before kicking another, and snapped another's neck while whacking another hard with his gun.
Blade fired before slicing one down. "Thought you fuckers were tough." He became a flurry of movement, cutting off various limbs as Bobbi held two back with her staves and Hunter knocked one down, with Anya valiantly fighting, keeping some away.
Felicia flipped and kicked one, sending him off, and spin kicked another off before grabbing one and smashing its face on her knee, as Dawn sliced another and used magic to throw another off before staking a third.
Gunn and Groo charged too, using their skills and experience as Gunn decapitated one with his ax and Groo kicked one away by many feet, and Xander engaged one, taking it down.
Lorne provided cover fire with a crossbow from the corner, making sure not to get caught up.
Some Bringers got outside and made a perimeter to block the good guys' escape route but were blown apart by missiles as Sam flew in and spinning, kicked one off by a few feet before shooting another down. "Not getting past here."
Down below, Buffy twirled the scythe and sliced another before tossing it to Faith. "Go on."
Faith brought it down on one, then kicked another back before using the back end to kill another, and sliced one more before tossing it to Natasha. "Natasha!"
Natasha caught it and cut one in an upward motion before spinning and decapitating one more.
Amanda looked down at Chao-Ahn's and Annabelle's bodies sadly, not noticing one was about to attack her, but Steve threw Mjolnir, killing it and saving her life.
Angel punched one and then snapped its neck as Spike slammed another down and smashed its face.
Peter webbed one's face and brought it down on his knee before swinging and kicking one more off.
Willow and Tara hovered in the air, doing hand movements as a magical shield was formed, and expanded outwards, turning various Turok-Han into dust.
Outside, the fight continued as Wood roared and rushed into many.
"Wood stop!" Giles called out.
"I can do this!" Wood yelled, wanting to prove himself equal to Angel, Spike and Matt. "I can take them out!"
"Robin!" Wesley called out and was about to use his shotgun but one came close and he blew that one off.
"Come back!" Simmons yelled but Wood fought recklessly, wanting to be seen as an equal to the Devil, the Vampires and Slayers, and that was his undoing as he was ripped apart.
"Stay in line!" Fitz ordered as he, Simmons and Fred used their flamethrowers.
"Come on", Fred muttered.
Anya fought off a Bringer and one was about to stab her from behind but Blade brought his sword down on that one's hands, chopping them off before chopping off his head.
"You saved me. Thank you", Anya said, not quippy for once.
"No problem", Blade shrugged as he and Bucky continued slaughtering more opponents.
Down below, Vi fought with the scythe, killing one more before tossing it to Satsu who used it to chop one's head, then brought it down on another.
Faith flipped up and kicked one Turok-Han away before tossing another down while Satsu tossed the scythe back to Buffy who used it to knock 3 Turok-Han off the cliff.
Steve brought down Mjolnir, the lightning blast killing various more as Willow and Tara chanted together and their energy expanded, shattering various opponents into pieces.
Adam then flew back up and landed, the amulet glowing a little as he turned back into Matt. "It's working!"
He staggered back a little with gritted teeth as a bright blue light shot up from the amulet, knocking a hole in the ceiling, going up through the floor of the Principal's office and through to the open sky. The light turned a warm orange color.
"Wow!" Sam muttered as he saw the light, then saw something and smirked.
"Matt!" Faith called out.
"Faith!" Matt called back.
Before Faith could go to his side, the amulet refracted the orange light out into the hellmouth like rays of sunshine—but with concentrated intensity like a laser. Faith stared at Matt. As the amulet worked its magic, the Turok-Han were dusting throughout the hellmouth. The ground started shaking.
Buffy called out to the others. "Everybody out, now!"
"Go! Come on, go!" Steve said as everyone rushed to the stairs that lead up to the seal.
"Matt!" Angel called out.
"Go with them! I'll be fine!" Matt assured as Angel reluctantly left.
"You sure?" Steve asked.
"Yes", Matt assured as Steve and Buffy left too.
"Come back to us", Peter added as he and Natasha left.
"He will", Natasha assured.
"Good luck Matt", Willow assured.
"Faith?" Tara called out.
"I'm coming", Faith assured as the two Witches flew out too.
Faith ran to Matt who was amazed. "I can feel it, Faith."
"What?"
Matt turned his head to her. "Both of us, I can feel us both."
Hunter was a little wounded as Bobbi supported him and they, Bucky, Blade and Anya made their way away.
Giles, Wesley, Fitz, Simmons and Fred rushed out too.
"Come on!" Gunn called out as he, Lorne, Xander, Dawn, Felicia and Groo rushed outside as well.
The others were out as well, with Angel and Spike getting their blankets, when they saw 5 Quinjets had arrived.
"Called rides", Sam shrugged as they started getting into the Quinjets.
Faith and Matt were the only ones left in the hellmouth. Matt was still glowing from the amulet, sending rays of light out into the hellmouth. Faith stands in front of him, staring.
"Go on, then."
"No. No, you've done enough. You could still—"
"No, you've beat them back. It's for me to do the cleanup."
The walls were crumbling around them.
"I can do this. I'll be fine."
"Matt."
"I mean it!"
Faith laced her fingers between Matt's and softly looking at him said. "I love you."
"I love you too", Matt assured before saying. "Now go!"
Faith ran upstairs as Matt smirked. "Come on, brother, let's end this together."
Then much like when he had worn the Infinity Gauntlet, half of Matt's side turned Devillish with golden fangs, horns and claws as Hellfire erupted and one wing sprouted.
Faith ran out as the Quinjets started taking off when Steve grasped her and twirling Mjolnir, flew up after them with Willow, Tara and Sam flying by their side, and due to the flight, they outran the destruction easily, landing outside Sunnydale.
The Quinjets came down and opened as Buffy, Natasha, Bucky, Peter, Xander, Dawn, Anya, Giles, Wesley, Lorne, Fred, Gunn, Groo, Fitz, Simmons and Felicia walked out, with Steve, Willow, Tara and Sam landing with Faith.
They walked a few feet towards Sunnydale which was a vast cavern now. The "Welcome to Sunnydale" sign still stood, perched precariously on the edge of the canyon. The sign teetered a little before falling backwards into the pit that used to be its city.
"That was my thing", Spike muttered from inside the Quinjet.
Peter and Dawn shared a look and kissed each other happily before hugging.
"How did this happen?" Giles asked.
"Matt", Faith whispered.
As if on cue, a figure flew out of the ruins, spreading its wings.
Adam!
Adam landed on the ground, shaking it, and turned back into Matt, the amulet still around him but no longer charged.
Faith rushed Matt with a smile and leapt at him as they kissed while he spun her around happily before putting her down.
"Don't do that again!" Faith said, smacking his chest as Matt chuckled.
"Sorry", he muttered before walking to the rest, sharing hugs with Buffy, Willow, Tara, Wesley, Lorne, Gunn and Groo.
"Well amigo, you sure did it, showed 'em what is what", Lorne quipped as they shared a chuckle, and Matt walked to the Quinjet, sharing hugs with Spike and then Angel.
"You did it", Angel said gratefully.
"No Angel", Matt shook his head as he took off the amulet and gave it back to him. "We did it."
He walked back out as Faith said. "Looks like the Hellmouth is officially closed for business."
"There is another one in Cleveland. Not to spoil the moment", Giles bent to pick up a rock and threw it into the canyon.
Xander said. "We saved the world."
"And now more Slayers have awakened here", Willow added.
"Yeah, we made these girls into warriors", Tara muttered.
"Well, I already was", Natasha shrugged.
"Superhuman warrior", Bucky said as both chuckled.
"Things have changed now", Fitz muttered.
"Yes, by a lot", Simmons nodded.
Peter said. "Well, there goes our place."
"Not to worry, I'm sure we will find another one", Dawn told him as they kissed again.
"What do we do till then?" Felicia wondered.
"You'll figure it out", Steve assured her.
"The Magic Box is gone though! With all the money!" Anya ranted. "Why?"
"Actually…" Xander trailed off.
"Yeah?"
"I put it with us on-"
"You're the best!" Anya wrapped her hands around Xander and kissed him.
"So, what will you do now?" Sam asked the Sunnydale and LA people.
"Angel and his team said we could crash at Hyperion for a while", Matt told Sam.
"Yeah, so that's what we do", Faith nodded.
"Sounds like a plan", Tara agreed as she and Willow shared a kiss.
"Yeah, that's the best for now", Willow sighed.
"Good luck with whatever you do, we have your backs", Steve assured them all genuinely.
"And what next?" Peter asked.
"Yeah, Buffy, what are we gonna do next?" Dawn asked Buffy.
As the others chattered around her, Buffy just stared straight ahead at the hole formerly known as Sunnydale. As she contemplated what was next, she smiled.

Obviously, Matt was gonna use the amulet all along here.
So the spell was used to activate only the Slayers at Sunnydale, not all over the world, because that made a mess *cough* Dana *cough* Basically, Willow used the Space Stone magic to create a barrier that prevents the activation magic from going outside Sunnydale, and Tara did the activation here of all the Potentials in Sunnydale.
Hope Steve calling Mjolnir and Willow/Tara using magic to battle from the air was enjoyed.
So Anya and Amanda get saved here while Curt, Rona, Renee, Chao-Ahn, Annabelle and Wood all die.
Poor Curt but this completed his redemption arc, RIP to him, and Renee too.
I hate Bitchedy but that'd make killing her too obvious so I didn't kill her, as you can see.
Plus, an amulet trapping the soul of Mephisto's spawn? Yeah right. Also, the Turok-Han that Buffy fought before was a big deal, while these ones were normal fodder, so hope my explanation of that Turok-Han being a special one made sense.
And also had a bit of Matt trying to command the Turok-Han and it not working, and hope the explanation made sense, since I'd have to explain otherwise why Matt just didn't command them to stop.
Anyway, this is the end of the Buffy side, we have one more to go for the Angel side where I wrap it up on a happy note.
Then Angel Season 5, followed by one final story to finish this whole series.
