For anyone who didn't get the reference from my last A/N, the musical I was referencing was Annie, and the song was NYC, which was cut from the 1982 version of the movie, but is in the 1999 version and the stage musical. Sorry for no Aftermath, but Toni's not there.
Right, Germany. It's a place I've visited several times…but never seen more than the tarmac and the airport. And I've never had to check in, so it's just been Arrivals and Passport Control. So…it's cold. That's the first thing. My fun fact…
How about the amount of fairytales that come from German culture? The Brothers Grimm are German, and they have the most bloodthirsty versions of fairytales. This includes the stepmothers of Snow White and Hansel and Gretel being biological mothers and Rapunzel wondering why her dress was getting tight (because she was pregnant with the prince's baby). This was in the 1810s. What were they teaching kids back then?

Team Amazon was considerably quieter without Courtney around, but it wasn't as nice as I'd expected. Heather seemed a bit too smug about it, and Sierra was ready to do whatever she could to Cody. He actually slept in a rope cage with bells in it, just so Sierra wouldn't do anything to him while he was asleep. Even then, she actually stuck her thumb in his mouth, and when he woke up and screamed, she screamed too, and then giggled, saying "Oh, you're so cute when you're terrified."
"Shouldn't we do something?" I whispered to Gwen.
She shrugged. "She won't listen to me. I've tried, but she thinks I want to take Cody away from her, even though I keep saying we're just friends. I think she knows about Cody's crush on me. She might listen to Heather, though. They seem pretty friendly. Sierra even said she thought she knew everything, but that Heather's actually nice. I'm not sure how she could think that, but either way, she listens to whatever Heather says."
I shook my head. "Nah, I don't think she will. I've seen the confessionals. Sierra knows Heather's trying to play her." This was true. Sierra had said in a confessional last episode that of course she knew what Heather was up to, and she was pretending not to know in order to play her.
So it was my time. I went up to the one-sided couple. "Um, Sierra, as co-host, I need to remind you that we are on camera, and this is a family show. That is, while we're on this plane or in any of our locations, you cannot do anything further than kissing. And no tongue. That means everyone keeps their clothes on, including shoes, and I will review the footage to check if I suspect anything." And to keep my cover, I added to the other girls, "That goes for you, too."
Gwen shrugged, Sierra scowled but didn't argue, and Heather rolled her eyes and said "Like that's something I have to worry about. Why don't you go tell the other teams? If anyone needs to hear that, it's Alejandro."
I didn't bother talking to the other teams, since they knew what was going on. Alejandro, so far, hadn't done anything more, and I was pretty sure he knew the conventions. Bridgette had mentioned a kiss, but I was pretty sure Sierra was the only one willing to molest the target of her affection. Alejandro was
a huge flirt, but I'd seen every time he'd flirted with me or with any other girl, and it was all flowery words and gestures, nothing inappropriate.
Speaking of Heather and her comments, that was what was irritating me during the flight. I'd seen the first season, of course, and I hadn't liked her there, either, but she was ultra-manipulative and the true Queen of Mean. I'd been on the second season with her, but she'd gone early and she hadn't been too terrible while on there. This season, she seemed to have more confidence, and that made her speak out more. She'd already made some snarky jabs at Gwen. Then she started chatting to me, acting like she wanted to be friends. I thought she did, until she said "So, who do you think will be going next?"
I'd raised my eyebrows at her. "How should I know? Chrissy doesn't tell me about the challenges I don't host. If you want inside info on the show, don't try pumping me, because I'm not getting fired for you."
Heather returned this comment with a death glare and flounced off. I'd gone back to sit with Gwen, who'd whispered "I knew she was going to ask you that! I guess she thinks you're okay with her because I don't remember you ever calling her out last season, but good call."
"I can't tell anyone anything." I'd whispered back. "Competition rules. Should I be watching out for myself?"
Gwen had just shrugged. "She only pulls stuff on people she thinks won't get too violent. You've got enough power around here that she'll probably leave you alone."
Anyway, I really didn't have anything to tell Heather, since Chris hadn't even told me the next location I'd be hosting in. I didn't get to find out where we were going this time either, same as the contestants, until Chris called us all to the common area, speaking in an accent that I was pretty sure was German. So we'd definitely gone back east, into Europe, but German was spoken in more than one country.
The common area floor just opened up to everyone, and we all dropped onto a snowy mountain. I looked around for someone who might know. Eventually, I reluctantly chose the person who seemed to know it all.
"Do you know which country we're in?" I asked Noah.
The dude scowled, but answered "We're in the Alps, so I'd say Germany or Austria. I can't be sure, but I think we're on the German side."
"Thank you!" I said sweetly, before going to stand to the side.
He was right, by the way, we were in Germany. Chris greeted us in a hushed voice, wearing a fan pack.
"We're in avalanche territory, so you might wanna keep it down."
"What?" Lindsay said loudly. "There's a sale at the Khaki Barn?" Two of the guys had to put their hands over her mouth to muffle her squeal of excitement.
I couldn't help a little grin. I didn't shop at the Khaki Barn often because it just wasn't my kind of style, but a couple of my friends did. They told me the Galleria Mall was amusing because they often saw one of the salesgirls totally owning the other two with her sarcasm. That would be fun, but what put me off was that they also told me about how that particular salesgirl told everyone the merchandise looked terrible on them. She seemed to hate the stuff that she was meant to sell, because she only ever focused on the clothes, not the customers. One girl told me she saw Avril Lavigne in that store once, which would have been a cool thing to witness, but I wasn't sure I believed that one.
And Chris decided to make the singing challenge that moment, just so everyone had to keep their voices down as they sang.
Okay, everything went fine at first, but then it was ruined by Lindsay. And not by her own singing. See, she'd not only called Tyler Alejandro and Noah, but also Dave and Darryl. But at this point, she suddenly seemed to remember him. She sang, yes, but only to say that her "former flame" was back and that he was Tyler. The man himself seemed confused at first, pointing to himself questioningly and then looking surprised when Lindsay flung her arms around him.
"You remember me?" he said, grinning when Lindsay nodded. "She remembers me! YEESSS!" Then the avalanche came, and we had to climb all the way back up and further, to the top of the mountain.
Owen's nose practically perked up before we got there and saw the massive mounds of meat, the giant manual meat grinders, and shovels.
I couldn't resist getting a little dig in at Heather. "Wondering if you should've kept the electric meat grinder yet?" I whispered to her.
She scowled at me.
As a matter of fact, I was right. The teams each had to make a sausage by shovelling the meat into the grinder, which the teams would each have to ride down the hill. And of course, Heather was the first to complain about it. "This is the most disgusting challenge yet!"
"Count yourselves lucky you're not making hot dogs." Chris advised. "No beaks, hooves or butts in this meat pile." DJ put a hand over his mouth immediately at the thought.
Chris went on to point out the hill, that looked dangerous and dark, even though the sun was bright.
"Of course," he said, "If you had a shiny new electric meat grinder, just plug her into our portable generator, and voila! Sausage stuffed in seconds!"
Heather looked even more sour. Her team glared at her. Her response? "What? No one said we were going to need it, and none of you disagreed at the time!"
Chris assured the teams that if they survived the ride down the hill, they would get some kind of reward, and one person from the losing team would have to wear very tight lederhosen.
Team Amazon was the least organized one. The team made Heather shovel and Gwen stuffed, while Cody ground. Sierra was too busy, apparently sculpting her own Cody out of the meat. I did go up to her. "Help your team!" I hissed. "The real Cody prefers girls who work hard over girls who try to make statues of him! You're a fan of Total Drama – you know Cody doesn't like girls who fawn over him!"
Sierra scowled, but she looked thoughtful. "I suppose they do need the meat, and Meat-Cody isn't real…" she murmured. I walked away, assuming she was on the right track.
The other two teams were better. Leshawna organized her team, telling DJ to shovel, the girls to stuff, while she was on the grinder. "Start believing the impossible, babies, cause this pig is about to fly!"
"Ew!" squealed Lindsay as the first part of the meat started to ooze into the casing. Bridgette looked a bit uncomfortable, but she started stuffing. Yeah, asking a vegetarian girl to stuff a sausage, seriously? I suppose it wasn't like she was going to eat it.
Alejandro was also organizing his team, pulling Izzy out of the grinder and calling orders out. "Tyler, we need your strength on the grinder! Owen, stuff that casing like your life depends on it! Noah, you make sure Izzy doesn't get into the grinder again!"
As it was, Sierra compromised. She kept Meat-Cody, but at least she made him significantly smaller. And then he fell down the mountain and they weren't able to use him, so Team Amazon's sausage was still significantly too small. They actually flattened it and rode it like a snowboard later on. Owen did not stuff Team Chris' casing, just eating all the meat himself, and Chris allowed them to make Owen slide down the hill with his team riding him. Team Victory was the only team who did really well with making and riding a sausage.
While I was zooming down an easier hill, I asked "Were you serious about them making it down alive? Like, they might not?"
"I didn't say any of them wouldn't make it down alive." Chris shrugged. "It doesn't hurt to keep them on their toes. And look, they're all getting hats. I promised prizes."
He didn't have enough hats for everyone. Team Chris got down first, and they got helmets. Team Victory followed quickly and got fluffy hats, and Team Amazon got Peter Pan hats, but there were only three for each team. Cody ended up in the lederhosen. Chris admitted that he was going to make Sierra wear them, but Cody whispered something to her which immediately made her beg to wear them, and that wasn't really the point of a penalty outfit.
The reason for three? Well, the second part of the challenge. Three from each team had to learn a German dance from Chef, and then dance it. But since nine was an odd number, Chris recruited me to learn it too, because the last part of the challenge would be a face off with the dance, and last person standing won for their team (by the way, Gwen, Lindsay, Izzy and Tyler ended up sitting out).
"What if Toni wins?" Alejandro asked.
"Yeah, I was wondering about that." I added. "After this round, the numbers are odd again."
"She'll only be in the first round unless she loses." Chris explained. "If she wins, she'll sit out and we'll have four people facing off. If she loses, she'll battle the same opponent again and same again for the last round. If she ends up as one of the last two, her opponent will win automatically."
I was pretty hopeless at the dance, actually. I could dance, but I felt stupid with this slapping and clapping thing. I was pretty glad I wasn't next to Heather, who laughed at Leshawna's dancing. The problem was, if you misstepped, you got a minor electric shock. I got three.
Then, we were raised up on platforms, and had to try and knock each other off while dancing. I didn't even try to dance, just knock. I just waited until Cody, still tight in his lederhosen, was trying to balance on one foot and gave him a little push off.
Sierra, of course, saw this, and was so angry she had no problem knocking DJ off. Bridgette, unfortunately, had to face Alejandro, and kept trying not to look at him, so she never saw it coming when he flicked and she toppled backwards off the platform. Leshawna easily pushed Noah off and out of the game, and Heather didn't even have to try – Owen was getting so sick from the raw meat that he stepped back and tumbled into the snow, along with a sausage he'd just thrown up. He felt better afterwards, I guess, which had to be better than just a win.
Because I'd won, it was just two people – Sierra vs Alejandro, and Heather vs Leshawna. I'd noticed Leshawna's dancing getting more and more erratic, but I soon realized why. Alejandro had been encouraging her terrible dance style. And the thing, was, it worked. Heather actually accidentally slapped Leshawna, who not only knocked her off the platform, but jumped down herself to attack Heather and knock her tooth out.
Alejandro also lost. I'm not sure what happened, but he was suddenly off the platform and Sierra was still standing. I was pretty glad, because she was so excited that she won that she never got onto my case about knocking Cody out in the first round, even though she and the rest of Team Amazon joined me in First Class.
Team Victory had to go to elimination. I thought about asking Alejandro what he was doing, but to be fair, maybe he was just encouraging Leshawna, not flirting with her. Instead, I just went to First Class, only leaving it to peek into Loser Class after the elimination ceremony to see who was gone.
Leshawna. Of course. She'd really screwed up on losing when she could have won. Still, it was hard to believe the team had the guts to get rid of their fearless leader. How would any of them win now?
No changes this time, but Toni did have a few quips to make. I don't adore this episode, so sorry.
